Re: So...whats for dinner?
Maggie, no consolation, but we are so remote with so few options, I don't think we even have the chance to get an advantage plan. With DH's situation, it is actually cheaper to pay the $240/month supplemental than try and find an advantage plan and drive 4 hours for every appointment. I know some folks enjoy driving; I'm not one of them…and then there's the ferry/bridge stuff to deal with. I didn't realize you live in NH. DH was just thinking maybe we should move there…no idea what caused him to say that.
Avocados: Keep them in the fridge and take one out to ripen, as needed. If they are all ripe, mash and freeze.
Leftover hot dogs and beans.
DH has his dental cleaning and post op check, so who knows what they'll find, again. Still no call from the Seattle oral surgeon.
DH has started the sawing of my floor. *sob*
Re: So...whats for dinner?
Today's meal was a sliced avocado with blue cheese dressing - topped with tuna mixed with mayo. I bought a bag of 5 avocados at Costco - 1/2 the price of Kroger. Now I just have figure out a way to eat them all.
Our neighborhood National Night Out last night with the police, fire dept, City Council and County Precinct was OK. Only 30 people showed out of 187 homes, but…. It was a dessert pot luck and there was a delicious banana pudding and a great peach cobbler. This lazy person planned to make a pineapple cake, but since I was in charge of everything else, I ended up taking individual Rice Krispie treats and individual Pepperidge Farms Cheddar cheese fish packets.
Leftovers will go to the Houston Police Dept for their "trunk or treat" Halloween event at the cop station.
Re: Zometa side effects
Thank you all for this thoughtful discussion about treatment timelines and for the care you show each other in sorting out details. You're right that the sheer number of drugs and protocols can be overwhelming for both patients and doctors—and nine years on Zometa does seem quite long by current standards. Glad @intolight you get a sort of break with every 6 months.
So nice to have you all here to support each other through the confusion and complexity. The "living room" atmosphere you've created, where mix-ups are met with grace and everyone just wants a safe place to share, is exactly what makes this community so valuable 😍
Wishing you all well on your respective treatment journeys, and @marcials1, hoping the Afinitor treats you kindly.
Everyone please keep us posted here!
Re: Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?
I ran to endocrinologist office this morning. Ultrasound, follow up with Dr, and blood work. All seems normal; one nodule has gotten bigger but so little it’s not necessary to biopsy. Bloodwork T4 & TSH: ranges all changed from last time but within normal ranges. I have appointments for next year, with a dexa scan included.
But the crazy part was my BP. It was 142 over 78. I’ve always had it run on the low side (105/55, 106/60, 110/70, 118/56, up to 120 max). Usually when a nurse takes my BP, the dr does it again to confirm it, because it’s on the low side. So I’m blown out of the water with 142/78. I have a wrist cuff BP machine and will start using it in the morning to see what is going on.
Oral surgeons office in late afternoon, they did a panoramic x-ray. The bone graft looks good. I can stop with salt water rinses, and knock down the prescription rinse to just before bed and then brush my teeth. Crazy part here is I requested a referral to get into my FL oral surgeons office, and asked when I should try to get an appointment. He said it takes 3-4 months from the graft to begin the implant. So looking at the calendar I think December 18 is 3 months. It’s crazy thinking about implant vs a bridge. I guess I should be thankful it’s a molar and not a front tooth. “Overwhelmed” fits how I feel. Maybe that’s my BP trigger. Hahah
I took my grandniece to a ceramic painting place tonight. She’s had a rough week and I could use some time with her. I had a card for hours of studio time and figured it would save me some money. Well the worker let me know it expired. I pointed out it didn’t have an expiration date. She said they don’t charge studio time any more, it’s based on the one price of the piece you pick. Let’s just say I spent $70 to hang with my grandniece and get some giggles. She had fun, I did too. I just didn’t realize the cost. We pick up our items on Thursday of next week.
It’s been a long day. I didn’t get to hook up the new spot light outside. I’ll get to it tomorrow. Tonights temperature is going down to 30 overnight, plants be damned. I’m headed to bed, with the electric blanket.

We are under sail leaving San Diego to encounter 2 days of a tropical storm. Great table in dining room. Room is nice since we always have a verandah for sea days. Hope everyone had a great day. Waving hi to everyone. I will take pictures to post later.
