Re: Side effects from aromatase inhibitor other than joint pain.
hello
I took that drug for over a year and the pain started out manageable. For me it increased to the point of being unable to open a jar with my left hand along with a list of 8 other side effects. I took my self off after being told they ‘weren’t’ side effects because I had been taking it over 12 months. I changed Dr. who recommended aromasin. I will post a question about this drug. The original Dr said 5 years then later 5-10 years on the meds…..I just don’t know who is deciding, the Drs. or drug companies because no tests are being done, in my case, when these conversations are held.
Re: STEAM ROOM FOR ANGER
how old is your mom and what other issues she have? I know mine seems to want to even speak to strangers sometimes. I know she is in upper 80's now and seems the older she gets she runs off at the mouth with everyone she sees now and people do not need to know our lives. We are very selective in what we share now.
Re: Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?
In character, in manner, in style, in all things, the supreme excellence is simplicity.
Re: Seeking Advice After Being Newly Diagnosed with DCIS
Hi @heike69 , I’m sorry your surgery did not yield the required margins. DCIS standards of care require the .2mm margin because there is sometimes a small bit of healthy tissue between two bits of DCIS. The larger margin is reassurance that all of it was removed.
Your doctors know all the details of your situation so it would be a good idea to ask them what your recurrence risk would be if you do nothing else. Since you would prefer not to have radiotherapy you might ask if a second surgery followed by 5 years of taking an aromatase inhibitor would be a possibility.. All the best deciding what you would like to do.

Re: So...whats for dinner?
Hospice nurse, nearly an hour late. BIL was to help with solar shades, but nurse timing and the "guys yakking" made it a no-go. BIL is flying out early tomorrow. Hopeful for a safe flight; glad to get some "normal" back, such as it is. Parts of his visit were frustrating. Since has kidney disease and asked my thoughts, I offered…it was not well received. Walked away, realizing it is not my cross to bare/bear (??).
I enjoy dining out, maybe once or twice/month…more than that, and I'm not happy. Maybe it is simply what is available here in the area.
Re: So...whats for dinner?
Last night was left overs….home made spaghetti sauce on freshly cooked spaghetti.
Sharon and I haven't gone out to eat for a few months. I guess the 20-30 minute drive to town makes it faster to eat at home.
Sharon or I will cut up a couple of sweet potato (not yams) into french fry style pieces and cook them in the air fryer. This goes well with "most anything".
Wally, that's good DH and BIL got out together. "More lively and less sick" is indeed priceless.
Re: So...whats for dinner?
Last night we went to nearby Triple Nickel restaurant for hamburgers. I ordered onion rings for dh, who is a huge fan of restaurant-made onion rings, not the version off the restaurant food supply trucks. He doesn't order them when just the two of us eat out because I don't eat them. I pointed out that he could warm up the leftovers in the air fryer. The hamburgers are huge and very good at Triple Nickel. I overate and got my "hamburger fix."
Re: So...whats for dinner?
LOL, LOL, LOL, LOL, LOL, lOL…DH's brother is going to be 83. I don't live near them. Nothing I do in a few days will alter his decisions. I'm grateful my DH (his brother) cares enough to let me choose healthy meals. BIL is not my circus and not my monkey. One more day…..
On a positive note, DH got out with him, did a few things, felt more "lively" and less "sick" and that was priceless. My focus is on my husband. I make my suggestions and his BIL can do what he wants.
