Re: Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?
I love our Winn Dixie. Great weekend sales and very good meat too. Rumors abound on if it will stay or go. I’d miss it. None in NY that I know of.
Handy woman - one who is willing to try, with the help of the internet and YouTube. I attempted again today to get the ice maker out, after finding an exact YouTube of my model refrigerator. I need a 1/4 socket wrench - which I have, but it’s in NY. So I need to buy or borrow one. I stuffed the ice bin back in and walked away.
I did put the new hose on, and needed a pair of pliers to tighten it. It’s a cheap hose and it shows. But because I had it on, water running, I washed the car quick.
Carole, the tax reminder is also a reminder my computer was never repaired, just put away as guests arrived. Ugh!
Betrayal, the prescription pill bottle with 2 labels on it had me shaking my head. If they took 2 minutes they could have removed that, and avoided all of this.
Chris, Tippy using his buttons to have full conversations (just about!) makes me smile because it’s so wild. Those buttons were a great investment.
Harley, you were stuck in the loop of medical appointment hell. I received a text from my PCP office this week stating the dr is no longer working on Mondays starting in June, if you have a Monday appointment you need call to reschedule. Why they couldn’t call all those appointments already scheduled… but I digress. When I called, the first thing the recorded AI said was to go to your portal to make or change an appointment. NOT happening, I’m on the phone now.
Otter, re: notes. Dang tooting, if I miss a bunch of posts and don’t take notes, I’m lost on who said what! The Jelly Belly bunnies are very much like Squishmellows; with no real jelly beans. I ordered from “Woot!” and the price was great, so my observation of 16” (x12” or more, BIGGER in person) and having no candy were not observed by me at all. They’re stored on a shelf in the guest bedroom closet. As long as I remember I’ve got them, and get rid of them at Easter, I’m good.
Nice cool day for walking today. I got in about 2.25 miles. Still not as long as my old route but I’ll get there.
Our temps are supposed to be even lower tomorrow. I’ll get another walk in, the book keeps me going, waiting to hear what’s next.

Re: how about drinking?
Winter is back and we're drinking Old-Fashioneds with orange slices and plump cherries. And enjoying the little fireplace with its gas logs.
Re: Well here I am again…
Hi Itam16. I had a reoccurrence after 17 years. I understand you may be in shock, angry, or just accepting.
I had a partial mastectomy, chemo and radiation the first time around. With the reoccurrence, I had to have a mastectomy on the cancer side. I opted to get a full mastectomy with no reconstruction. I like it, but it’s not for everyone.
I discovered that chemo was much easier the second time. So many advancements were made in the 17 years between. I think the chemo was milder and the side effects management was so much better.
I’ll pray for during treatment. You’ll get through it as you did before.

I got a card yesterday from my cousin. She uses snail-mail and mourns the fact that people don't do this much any longer. A year older than me. Lots of questions. Some she should already know the answers to. Wondering here. So a card is usually begging me to call her. Will do this later today.
Tippy is using his buttons with more purpose now. He asked me what will happen. So I told him I would go to church tonight and maybe take my bike to the store. Nothing tomorrow. He asked me about snow, and I told him the weather prediction. It is warm today, 41, predicted to peak at 46, snow again in a few days. Complains about belly and armpit matts, so I told him that he will be going for haircut in a few days, since he refuses to let me do it.
I have to stock up on pre-prepared meals again. Cooking is good exercise. When I go out walking in the ice and snow, I use my hiking poles. They make things much safer. I'm grateful that the laundry rea in this building is just outside my door, and that wash costs .75 and dry costs 2 X .5.
Petite, I will be praying for your friend and that you might find an answer to your sadness. Otter, prayers also that you get through this re-occurrence without significant problems. Wallycat, prayers also for you and DH.
I just got a book "Waking the Tiger" by P. Levine. Gestalt psychology dealing with trauma. Interesting.

Yesterday after running to pharmacy to discuss why I had received a "recycled" prescription or what they referred to as a "return to stock" where they pasted my label over that of another person. The drug inside was okay, but it was the fact that I was able to see this person's info after peeling the label off. I considered this a breach of confidentiality because I had her name, address (which was over an hour away from my location) and prescription number plus the stocking date and expiration dates did not match from her prescription to mine. This had been sitting on a shelf for a month before they provided it to me and had been off loaded from the original stock bottle which I felt was wrong. Hers read 6/25 and mine now read 7/25. So answers, but told them I did not want this to happen again. I picked up my new prescription and left.
I ran to the grocery store and found that it was less expensive to buy a beef eye roast than to buy beef cubes and the roast was less fatty, plus I will get two meals from it. I used about half the roast for the beef for my vegetable soup and still have enough to make a roast. I made a large pot of beef vegetable soup and DD visited today so she went home with some. They also had red peppers on sale, but you had to buy 5, so I decided I would also make stuffed peppers for another meal. I picked up the 5 and then found 4 on the clearance rack for less than $2 and grabbed those as well. I picked up some ground beef (wow, the prices now) as well. When I came home I started the soup and while the beef cubes were browning started the stuffed peppers. Once they were done and in the oven, a container of 4 for DD and DSIL plus some porcupines (leftover ground beef with rice in it) and a container of 5 for us, I went back to completing the soup. They are in the refrigerator because DSIL wanted a meal from Nifty Fifty's, so dinner was burgers, cheese fries and old time milkshakes. Dinner tonight will be soup with sour bread.
They were in the area because DSIL had a dental appointment and DD thought her doctor's appointment was yesterday, but it is actually next week. DSIL helped get Christmas tree up into the attic.
Today I have to tackle emptying the China closet and safely storing what I want to keep. I'll start with the top and then address the buffet bottom. The shelves in the top are a wood/glass combo so I'll have to find safe storage for them as well. I hope to at least get the top done today. I also have to take the crystal cups with their crystal prisms off the chandelier and the wall sconces. I'll bubble wrap them for storage.
The drapery cleaning company is to come on Thursday so I am hoping we only get rain overnight and the temps stay above freezing or they won't make it up the driveway. Fingers crossed.
It's a beautiful sunny day expected to hit 50, but we never hit the predicted mid 40's yesterday, so I'll take a "we'll see" attitude.
I hope everyone has a great day and waving "hi" to everyone.
