Re: Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?
Sandy, I'm also sorry to hear about your son's breakup. But glad for you that you're on the verge of being "back at home."
We have missed you on the What's for Dinner? forum but understand why you're too busy to post there.
It must be chilling to have ICE in operation in your neighborhood rather than just read articles and see coverage on tv.
I have had a pleasant day. My exercise class was great. A food trailer outside the YMCA was selling barbecue today so I called dh to ask if he'd like barbecue for lunch. He said he would so I bought him a meal with brisket chili and sides he likes, coleslaw and baked beans. I had the brisket chili, which was full of chunks of barbecued brisket and was very good. Brisket is my favorite barbecue meat, with chicken a close second.
Hope everyone else had a good Wednesday.

OK. So now I just need to watch for the warning signs, rather than until I am in a world of pain from my hands to my toes. A bit much at once. I know they are expensive, and thankful my insurance pays for them. A bad sprain from thirty years ago, plus chemo, and probably a nerve lost in knee replacement.

Chris, my orthotics last 1-2 years at max. The body weight on them compresses them, sometimes sooner or later. This is what a script had to say for mine to be covered between Medicare and my secondary: One pair customer foot orthotics; coding: 247.89. This is my first time not having to pay for them. Here they’re up to $520, includes the orthotics and as many visits necessary.
At our dermatology appointment yesterday the dr noted my one toenail is coming off. I’ve never lost a nail. This is from the surgery on toes next to it. He says the new nail is under it and it will peel off eventually.
This morning we were up at 5:15 AM; to the gastro office before 6 AM. I went in for the sign in and left for the procedure. We’re about 5-7 minutes away. I picked him up by 8:10. They found 4 polyps, sessile, under 4mm - believed to be benign, and removed them. Follow-up in 3 years for surveillance. Although his son, a gastroenterologist said newer protocol is 5-7 years; he’ll do it again in 3.
I took a “nap” for an additional hour around 9:30; total sleep 4 hrs. SO is in bed now, I don’t think he slept more than an hour last night.
I’ve got a chill. House feels cold but isn’t. It’s probably from lack of sleep. I’m fully dressed, with my fuzzy robe on too - which lets me feel comfortable.
Let’s go JAY’s!! Last night was good.

I am following along. I need new orthotics. Those who wear them, how long before you need new ones? This has been two years, and I am back to wearing an ankle brace to get me through the time necessary for my appointment. That is in the city on the third, I will also have the cast sut off and a custom splint for my right hand.
Somehow I have gotten French as well as anglas in my word correct.
Still eager to get some sewing done. I got the coolest knives for cooking ..
Amazon.com: Right Angle Knife 2-Pack – Ergonomic L Shaped Knives with Serrated & Chopping Blades, Adaptive Kitchen Tools for Arthritis : Health & Household Tried the serrated one with my 100% whole wheat bread, but it didn't work. Will try a loaf of 33% ww.
Made some dill pickle flavored potato soup yesterday, and it is as good as ever.
Had my eyes checked this morning, and I am right on the line with cataracts. Next year they should be ready to pop.

Petite, what a great idea purchasing the cabin has turned out to be for you. There are two kinds of winterizing. One is the kind we do with our rv in MN. Winterize to leave for the duration of cold weather. We drain the water and run anti-freeze liquid into the pipes. Drain the water from the icemaker. You're wanting to protect your cabin from freezing weather while still using it. I agree with those who advised you to talk to neighbors. Also the local hardware store can probably give you information.
Cindy, hoping for good report from the colonoscopy.
It's sunny this morning and my laptop says 49 degrees outside.
Taco, I played 9 holes of golf yesterday. The course looked really nice after a good rain.
I plan to go to senior exercise at ll:30.
Hi to all.
