Re: So...whats for dinner?
I lost the post…but it was my fault…
Wally, has the saw arrived? And if so, how's the project? Or should I not ask?
My mom was a NP-midwife and could write prescriptions for some stuff. She used a typewriter for her prescriptions. Somewhere I have a cartoon of a doctor dipping a chicken's feet into an ink well and there is a prescription pad next to the ink well. :-)
Sharon cooked Spanish couscous and chicken today while I worked on improving the drainage in the driveway. It's been raining all day most every day since Thursday and about half the driveway was a puddle about an inch deep. A bit of work with a garden hoe and the puddle is now only a foot or so wide and about half an inch deep,, which is "good enough". As for temperatures, frost is likely late this week and early next week, which is "right on time".
Re: Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?
petite - those trails loook lovely. Hope you enjoyed the hike.
Re: Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?
The trip back home was very slow. A lot of traffic from North Carolina to Florida. I did stay over in Tifton GA, because I had been on the road for 8 hours. I couldn't take it any longer. The next day traffic was not as bad. I was a zombie for 2 days. I think part of this is from the adjustments my new PCP is doing to my meds. He lowered my levothyroxine to a place it has never been before, but I have never been this old before. LOL
I am attaching some trail photos
The first are from Murphy River Walk
The last are from Piney Knob Trail System
They got out f order. Trail of tears goes with River walk
Re: cording (axillary web syndrome)
Thank you for that info, good to know. I’ve regained range of motion in my shoulder and now struggle more with pain and limited mobility in my elbow through forearm. I can see the cord still in my axilla. I’m hoping massage with PT will release the rest of this. At this point it’s annoying!
Glad you’re doing well and thank you for responding. 😊
Re: Poll: How does Breast Cancer Awareness Month make you feel?
Thank you! I really, really wish that everyone, including our lower stage sisters, would reflect on how marginalized stage IV is through the fluffy, pink crap. One day, one freaking day for the only type of bc that is terminal and while deaths from bc have decreased somewhat, it has been a mere drop in the bucket. Don’t ignore stage IV!
As I said earlier , I appreciate the dollars it has brought to bc research but it feels like a slap in the face as we are marginalized and almost hidden since no one seems too interested in the fact that tens of thousands still die every year. In the whole fluffy pink awareness movement, we are simply the failures that no one wants out front to make people truly aware of what bc is.
Re: Anyone regret going flat?
It definitely seems as though you have heard a multitude of pros and cons for going flat. I had a bi-lateral mastextomy in 2013 and have never regretted it. I was; however, in my mid fifties. If I had been younger I may have considered implants. I have not once regretted my decision. It is a little uncomfortable the first few times you go to a doctor or someone inadvertently sees your flat chest and you have to explain it, but that goes away quickly. I do have the prothesis, but they can be very uncomfortable in warm weather. It is kind of like wearing hot water bottles! I do have to say, I find a freedom in not having to wear them if I don't want to.
I had know a lot of women who had issues with reconstructions, some examples you have heard here, and some who had issues with recurrences during the process. No matter what you decide, you will get pros and cons from everyone.
If I had to give you one piece of advise, it would be to do what ever YOU want to do and feel comfortable with. Don't let anyone else talk you into doing anything. You do not have to make a decision now. Most insurance companies will pay for it even years after the mastectomy if you change your mind. You are going through so many emotions and changes right now, making one decision after another....you don't have to rush into this one. Let the dust settle and them decide what you feel comfortable with. Afterall, its not like losing an arm or a leg. Although, if your breasts have always been something that was important to you and your appearance, then you may feel differently. The important thing is.....DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO. If you don't know....think about it for as long as you need to. You will know when you have made the right decision.
Best of luck to you. Prayers!
