Re: Mepitel Thoughts and Tips
Just wanted to clarify with those who might check this thread regarding Mepitel Film. There are a couple different Mepitel products—make sure you are getting Mepitel Film. Currently it is only available through Mayo Clinic and from Canada. Other than Mayo it is not available in the United States. If you are not allergic to the silicone it is amazing. The doctors I know who had patients who used it were impressed and other patients that used it said they at most got a little pink but no other skin reactions. Key is having it applied BEFORE radiation starts and it is not supposed to be removed—only patched as needed AND is supposed to stay on for 2 weeks after radiation is completed. You can shower with it on. The manufacturer recommends covering with a towel, but I found that getting a disposable short plastic shampoo cape worked best. That is the hardest part—keeping it on the entire time and for two weeks after. Underarm area tends to lift and had to be patched several times. But results from it was amazing. My doctor was shocked at how great my skin was—I had to ask him to use it as it is not standard of care. But I'm so glad I did.

@cosun10 I found this video on youtube
I found a lot of the info really helped confirm some of the things I had been finding in my chatgpt questions. This lecture is being given to Dr's for their testing purposes.

In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on.
