Re: So...whats for dinner?
Eric, A corn festival where all the corn has been sold is a bust. Coffee beans stored in used bourbon barrels sound awesome. Right now I'm drinking some 100% Kona coffee that I bought on sale for half price. It was expensive but still cheaper than buying coffee at the gas station and is really good.
I saw a recipe for chicken in a bourbon and peach sauce but haven’t tried it since I don’t have peach preserves.
Nance, Your farewell to summer meal sounds delicious. DH wouldn't bother cooking if I didn't do it.
Dinner tonight was salmon in teriyaki sauce and sautéed summer squash.
Re: Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?
Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next.
Re: Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?
thanks, @betrayal!
I did decide to do the sentinel bx, I think the potential peace of mind is worth the potential risks. My surgeon did strongly recommend it.

Petite - hope you and your beautiful cat enjoyed the holiday weekend at the cabin. Is this a year round cabin or seasonal?
Betrayal - fingers crossed that Regan is on the mend. Too bad he vomited on the area rug but it’s a good thing you are getting it cleaned quickly to prevent any damage. Have a wonderful time in Alaska.
Cindy - I continue to be amazed at your handywoman ability. There is no way I could even attempt that.
We are in the midst of deciding what to do about our backyard. Our inground pool is 21 years old and in need of significant ($$$$) repairs that are not DIY. We have rough quotes for the new liner and the entire pool cover system but we also believe there is a leak in the underground pipes and the robotic pool cleaner pump needs to be replaced. We spent the weekend weighing the pros and cons of repairing the pool or having it removed (also $$$) and decided to have it removed as we do not use the pool enough to justify the cost of the repairs. As we age, I also think maintaining and using the pool could become a safety issue.
We are in the process of getting pool removal quotes which will also include removing a stamped concrete patio that was used for our now long gone hot tub. The patio is crumbling and is a trip hazard. We will keep the lovely 12x12 pergola over it and are debating just putting in pea gravel or crushed limestone under the pergola. We have a larger brick paver patio that is in good condition and we will keep. Over the weekend DH tore down a much smaller pergola and ripped out a vine in the garden area off of the family room. That entire garden needs to be redone but it will need to wait until Spring.
We’ve been having fantastic weather which is great for walking, hiking and biking. We are leaving this weekend for a few days on the Oregon coast.
Waving ‘hi’ to all.
Re: CT and Lung Nodules
Hi bookworm, I’m so sorry that you ended out with sciatica. It’s terribly painful and really limits your movement. I hope the nurses are more careful with the Faslodex injections. Hopefully Metformin keeps your glucose levels in check. When I was taking long term oral steroids for RIPF I eventually had to go to insulin injections. It seems that every med has SEs requiring more meds. It’s all worth it if the Itovebi is keeping things stable.
Just got back from a visit with a neurosurgeon who was all set to operate on my cervical spine until he examined my limp right hand. He thinks the problem might be brachial neuritis caused by my long term bout of statin induced liver injury and lingering damage from rads. He ordered an EMG and referred me to a neurologist. I guess the cure is 3 to 8 years of PT. By that time I’ll be a functional lefty. There are so many weird diseases out there.
I hope Marge and kks have good scans this month and you, Cindy and I have the same in October.
Enjoy your son’s football games and some cooler weather.
Re: Newly diagnosed with bone mets
@mary625 So glad you are well underway with your consultations and feeling a little better today! It is overwhelming! And to respond to yours and @threetree 's comment, I am fortunate that I have a cancer center at Swedish Hospital in Issaquah where I have been able to have all of my appointments, scans, tests, treatments, etc. Some Seattle-based docs even come to Issaquah once or twice a week and I have never had to go into Seattle. I'm so thankful for that bit of potential stress taken off my plate.
I was only able to take AI's for six years due to bone and joint pain - while trying to teach first grade - ugh - after my first surgeries-chemo-radiation. So I was not prescribed AI this go-around and why I am on the monthly Faslodex injections instead.
Best wishes for your biopsy and radiation treatments. Peace and healing thoughts!!
