Re: how about drinking?
Older age is hard. My mom was fine until she reached 89/90. Her last two years required home health aids 10 hours a day, that she hated and she refused to move. So my sister and I shared my mom’sI care, though my sister being around the block did more when she got frail. I also felt good that she felt loved and heard when she passed. We would spend an hour on the phone, her talking and me listening every Sunday. She got very spiritual before she passed.
Jazzy love the bird pics and the refuge. I live in a city, so am grateful for Central Park, and the tree and birds outside my window lol.
Enjoying a cognac while I type. ❤️
Re: how about drinking?
Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Sunday Funday! Another cold and snowy day today is in store. It's been snowing pretty much every day for a while, which means I can't go visit Mom because she will get totally freaked out if she thinks I'm driving in the snow. Her sense of time is totally shot, too, now, so even though I call her every day I don't visit she starts the conversation out with "I hadn't heard from you for days and I thought you were hurt or sick or something had happened to you." She has an appointment on Tuesday, so I will see her then unless it's snowing really hard. We will talk about the hydroxyurea and find out what she wants to do. I hope she decides not to take it, I don't see that the possible but unmeasurable benefit comes close to matching, let alone outweighing, the side effects, treatment burden, and everything else involved.
I didn't go to the WWW get-together. I got a message that my cousin Laura, the one in Las Vegas that I vacation with, was in the hospital, in the ICU, with a breathing tube in after a complication of a procedure. She was awake and responsive. They took the breathing tube out a couple hours later and she was doing well. She was moved out of ICU a few hours after that with discharge planned later on Thursday. Laura herself messaged a while later and I about fell of my chair when I read that she was having chest pain from the CPR they did! Apparently she had an allergic reaction to a medication. Anyway, she bounced back, went home Thursday afternoon, and besides being sore and bruised is doing fine. It just seems to be one thing after another.
Teka--fresh local fish always makes for a good meal!
Rischaller--yeah, my thoughts, too, combining drinking and axe throwing.
Carole--
Hopefully I'll get another chance to check the place out. I don't mind going to restaurants by myself, but that one sounds like its way more fun going with someone.
Jazzy--Have a bird or two!

Re: Can we have a forum for "older" people with bc?
We changed the garage door weatherstripping this afternoon. At first we couldn’t budge it. So I took a box cutter and sliced it down the middle, where we discovered a self tapping screw at each end, about 6” in from the end. Well once we took the screws out, the old one came out easily.
Next we put on the new one, easier than I anticipated. A definite 2 person job. Final step was to close the garage door and see how well it sealed.
Not so well was the answer. UGH. There is still light under it in the same area as the old one - the cement driveway has settled unevenly apparently. I went on Amazon and ordered a 3M weatherstrip that sticks to the bottom edge of the garage door on the inside.
Thinking ahead that it could easily “melt” off during SWFL summers, I ordered self tapping screws to make sure it stays on.
The 20 foot weatherstrip arrives tomorrow, the screws on Saturday. Additional projects on the “to do” list. Another - it never ends project with homeownership.
We got a walk in before we started the garage project. Just over 2 miles, so getting back to normal.
Tonight is trash night - a gf is picking me up for curbside finds. I say reduce, reuse, recycle. Her husband says junking. LOL
