Sandy, after dealing with restoration contractors from November of 2019 to January of 2023, I hear your pain. Fortunately, we were able to stay in the house and I was able to be an inside superintendent. I had a big argument with the owner of the restoration company when we learned that the delay in getting an onsite structural engineer inspection meant we were unaware that a major snow storm could have caused the temporary roof they erected could have collapsed and done catastrophic damage to the house. I threw him out and told him I would only deal with the project manager, not him.
We'd already had the attic and primary bedroom destroyed by the tree strike and the rain had damaged the living room and a small area of the basement. There was damage to other rooms but they were minimal.
Their decision to remove the gutters, which lead to an underground water mitigation system, before Isaias hit meant the basement, which had minimal damage to a small section of wall and flooring, flooded destroying the floor and several walls. We had enough flooring to repair the initial damage, but not after the flood. The water pouring off our roof looked like Niagara Falls and the tarps just flattened to the house causing the water to gain access to the basement. DH was no help with the contractors and it was more of a challenge to get him to participate than it was to handle it myself.
When I told them there were insufficient funds to return my house to its former state, they talked to SF and got an increase in funding. I also looked at their punch list, highlighted what they had not done and made sure those charges were applied to other costs that they were chintzy on. They never ordered the replacement basement flooring when I gave them the info and 5 months later I was told it was unavailable. So what I chose next cost them a fortune and they were unhappy, but you snooze, you lose.
Glad you have access to litigators. If you can open your bathroom windows during showers, you won't have to wait 30 days. We installed in floor heating, exhaust fans and a vent system when we redid the bathrooms.
canarycat, glad you gave the Pendray a thumbs up. We love high teas so we are looking forward to it.
cindyny, love the photos and the travelogue. We will head there next spring so I am really looking forward to the return. We always used B & B's and loved the experience. Our last trip there was a tour of England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland, so we stayed in hotels which were nice.
No gardening due to heat and humidity so focused on bathroom pantry closet and my DD's former room organization. Closet is done and bedroom still needs some attention. It has a tendency to become the dump room. I need to donate some of the stuff and give away some to DGD and DD (mostly jewelry I no longer wear).
Tomorrow is family birthday party at Bonefish Grill. Looking forward to it.

MommaCJ, I just passed six months scans on the trial with the PIK3CA inhibitor, very happy because it does not come with any side effects!

I’ve been keeping up with my pool exercise, doing water exercise 5 days out of 7. I think the resistance exercise is building a little upper body strength, I was able to do a couple things I could not do before like open the big beach umbrelllas around the lounge chairs at the pool! I could not co-ordinate to hold the umbrella open while putting the peg in the hole with the other hand If you’re familiar with this type of umbrella you know what I mean, if not, it is definitely an operation that requires 2 hands and probably normal arm strength but mine was absolutely sub normal.
And I try to do a little non-water exercise in the evening no matter how small and to reach at least 7K steps on my step tracker.
@eleanora yes, I love that I can set a good example…his mom is very athletic so he has a lot of positive influence in this area but I’m glad I am also a part of it. The kindle holder on your bike sounds like a great idea, if I can figure out how to get something like that on my gazelle, I would love it.
btw here is the gazelle glider, someone (I think @chicagoan ) mentioned not knowing about it….I remember it being advertised on infomercials a long time ago by Tony Little a big muscular guy with a long mullet hairdo was the originator and appeared in the commercials.
I started using a machine like it at the outdoor “gym” area that was in the park near my former home…and then I looked around online and realized that the home version folded up and did not take up much space so was good for apartment living….and I got one for myself. Here’s what the machine and Tony little look like
I got rid of my first one when I moved and picked up a new one free on FB marketplace 😃

Hi @hope3736, I'm sorry your diagnosis brings you here but this is a good place for information and support. Staging comes after the surgical pathology. There is no way of knowing for sure but if the MRI doesn't find anything additional it is likely to be stage 1 which is very treatable with an excellent survival outlook. Understandably your mother and brother's cancer outcomes are affecting your emotions now. Meditation and counseling are helpful.
Right now the unknown is disconcerting but once you have a treatment plan in place things do get better. A preliminary plan will be set up at your meeting with the surgeon but occasionally changes are made following surgery. Things move more slowly than anyone likes but that just comes with the territory. I hope your surgical appointment goes well. All the best.

Hi @rlwgrandma, Your MRI should provide additional information to help you decide which type of surgery to have. Unfortunately arm or breast/truncal lymphedema can be a side effect of either surgery although it is more common with mastectomy. Radiation is generally done after a lumpectomy. Given what happened with your leg you should be careful with rads because whole breast radiation can cause nerve damage and other SEs. You should ask the RO about the possibility of partial breast radiation or even skipping radiation if your cancer is ER+ and you will be taking estrogen blockers. Even though plans are made before surgery the post surgical pathology can sometimes change treatment decisions. All the best going forward.

@threetree @tanya_djamila Yeah, I gave myself a hard time until I stopped and thought that all I did was book a month EARLY vs late. I did not miss the appointment at all. It was not booked until Sept 16th. I moved the thought out of my head with music. I have all schedules in my purse and keep the purse next to me, I will review my phone calender to those appointments and pay it no mind. No one is harder on me than myself so I really work to push out critical thoughts from my head.
Booked my trips to Herceptin on Wed. CT will be Sept 16 and results are Sept 29. Crossed out the appointments I have already had to keep it all straight.
I have started some laundry, not too much as I have kept up with it better. Tigger still sits on top of the washers but I am not bothered by that though, he is enjoying the warmth. I have also stopped drying clothes because I realize the wash is enough and I can hang it up to dry on the shower wash. I also wash clothes in the mesh bags to protect them and keep them newer looking.
I am starting to run out of rice finally, had it for years, will make sure another box is not under my bed where I store things and if not will order it soon, from Walmart or Amazon if necessary. Edit, I did order stuff from Walmart. No junk food, which was a surprise to me but just the rice, a multipak of the lean ground beef. Used the rest of the credit card rewards from paying rent so in effect it was a free order. A few cans of chili type beans and two pizzas which will be heated up immediately and a pizza cutter. should arrive between 2 and 3 pm. I also stayed within the 61.00 budget from the credit I could use.
Edit, realized I would need some cheese as well so with cheese added and tortilla chips which feature heavily in meals for me, went just over 70 dollars so will just pay the extra 15.00 to the card that the credit was being used on. Probably will not shop for a couple of weeks either so average per week is 35.00 which is not too bad with inflation factored in.
I love the meat masher I bought for around 10 bucks on Amazon, I can really break down the meat that and mash up beans in the same dish as well.
I need food before everything arrives so using an egg and beans with rice.

Petite - you have an idyllic cabin! I hope you make many wonderful memories there.
Sandy - glad to hear progress is being made on the move in to your home, but you have my empathy for all the mixups you are enduring. A fire is such a stressful time and to be taken advantage of is unforgivable. I’m glad that Carrie is in town to help.
Canarycat - I love the catio. I do not have cats but I wouldn’t mind using it as a reading nook (if your cats would be willing to share with a human).
Intolight - thank you for letting us know about @kbl Kristine. I am holding her friends and family in my thoughts. It has certainly been a rough few months for the BCO community.

Volunteered at the food pantry yesterday. The air temp was 91 with a real feel of a few degrees higher. I felt sorry for our folks that were working in the parking lot under the sun loading cars. It was like a sauna inside, so I can only imagine what it felt like under the sun. After about 2 hours I developed a massive headache, in spite of hydrating, that I couldn’t shake, so I came home a bit earlier than normal.
Had a long phone call today with a gf that I have known since high school who now lives in Florida. It had been quite awhile since we actually talked rather than texted. Was wonderful to hear her voice and catch up.
I floated in the pool for awhile today to cool off as it was another 90+ degree day. Shortly after I got in the skies darkened and we could hear thunder in the distance. I decided to get out and about 30 minutes later the skies opened up. We badly need rain so I didn’t mind cutting short my pool time.

@kailag, so sorry to hear Caryn made her transition—but glad she was with loved ones as she passed peacefully. She was a force of nature on these boards (multiple threads). May her memory be for a blessing, as her life surely was.
