Chris - what a great way to display and safeguard your treasures.
My grandmother crocheted - all my older cousins got tablecloths as wedding gifts. My sister and I were the only ones who missed out as she lost her vision. She taught us and we made vests as I recall. My sister still crochets but I knit. Made so many sweaters in the '80's that my family begged me to quit. I do have an Irish knit sweater that I keep in Maine with Debbie as it seldom gets cold enough to wear it here. Did a number of afghans too.
I started needlepointing and did 8 large dining room chair seat covers and 22 Christmas stockings for family members. Like my grandmother, my eyes and hands gave out and the last two great nieces and now spouses get ones from LL Bean. (Actually far cheaper than the ones I did but I think they appreciate my continuing the tradition.)
About 10 years ago, Debbie wanted an afghan and I started knitting again. I make afghans as high school graduation presents. The last great niece will graduate in '27 and hers is done and I've started one for Ella who is a freshman. When it's finished, I hope to start knitting for "knitting knockers" but it will depend on how small the needles have to be as my hands tend to tense up if they are too small.
I was sewing my own clothes by the time I got to junior high and did a parka when we were in Alaska and tailored suits when I was working. Then I just stopped. I imagine I would need lots of lessons on the new machines but have no desire to sew again.
Haley, many craft stores have classes if the YouTube classes don't work. I don't think they would for me.

@eleanora I brought a small crochet project with me to my first infusion, but since I ice my hands during the process I cannot crochet too. It has prevented the neuropathy so far so I shall continue. I could do it the first hour though… Perhaps I should think about it. I don't do doilies as I too have some antique ones from family and don't need more. I have been thinking of making everyone slippers for next Christmas. My MIL did that and everyone remembers her work. It would be good as they are small and I don't need a lot of directions.

Thanks for the beautiful photo. To think that many of those were made by women with poor lighting and no magnification.

@amerli Oh I understand that fear and anxiety can be crippling for sure! It's normal to have fear and it takes time to come to terms with your diagnosis. When I was diagnosed Stage IV it took me about a year to accept and learn how to live in the present. It's as much a mental disease as it is a physical. Everyone deals with their situation in their own way and still there are good days and bad. I have told myself it's the only life I have and I'm not going to waste it worrying every day! Do I worry when it's time for a scan, of course but in order to truly live my life I can't carry this heavy weight around daily. This all takes time so one step, one day at a time.

@amerli Hi there I am a TNBC sister as you see in my bio it all started the end of 2016 and I’m still here!!! I am now metastatic but that didn’t happen until 2022. TN has come a very long way and there have been many new treatments since I was first diagnosed. I know how scary this all is and Dr Google paints a grim picture for TN but that’s not always the case. Yes , you will feel a little better once you have your plan in place. Until then take a breath and try to take this one step at a time. This is a wonderful site with endless support and information. I’m sorry your here but glad you found us! Sending strength and positivity your way❤️

@runor Yogurt may be worth looking up how to make it on youtube. I just love the stuff if I do say so. I can hide stuff I do not like that is good for me like bananas, applesuce in the yogurt, use mio powder to flavour it all. Am also thinking of smoothies with different veggies in there. Done lentils and they were really good. I also like to crisp up beans, lentils and other stuff in my air fryer.
Slept fine last night, this morning adjusted the mattress topper as it was rolling over to the other side, felt like I could roll out even though sleep on back only. Also found a bed barrier so will try putting it together, no luck than will save money.
I made one of the Walmart frozen beef and tomato macaroni variety. Added canned chicken as well, seasoned with dry sour cream and onion, white cheddar, taco seasoning and salt, put everything in microwave, did up for 6 mins since my microwave is only 700 W, need to add 2 mins to every dish. Once stuff came out of oven, spooned mix into a large bowl and added queso as a binder. It was delicious with the meat in the macoroni and the addition of the chicken was good. Chicken was more like beef since I rinsed the chicken in the strainer first. It took on the taste of the rest of the stuff.

So I love hearing all the Positive news about stable scans, REMISSION,‼️How cool is that @irishlove. Keep doing what you’re doing my girl.
And the fact that our @mara51506 is home and recovering even with a little normal expected depression from her brain surgery. Wow how blessed we all are living in these times when Women & Men are befitting from the many treatments available for Stage IV Breast Cancer…I noticed during the month of October a lot of emphasis is beng talked about metstatic Breast cancer so there’s more of awareness of Stage IV.
And so glad to see @runor pop in.🥰 Glad you drank 2 cups of coffee and read through the threads🌷. this group has such a fast paced thread, ther’s a lot of us. and posting is daily, and always something new as we keep encouraging each others daily struggles 😢and triumphs.💪🏼

@carolehalston I used to sew my own clothes when I was younger. I walked into my first home ec class wearing a dress I had made and was disappointed when the teacher said everyone was going to start making an apron. I even did some alterations work as a young bride. I used to do a lot of needlepoint and knitting when I was younger, then raising kids and working happened. I started crocheting when I was dxd and retired and it is what I enjoy most now. I started with Agurumi dolls for my grandkids (lots of information in Disney kits of how-to) and I do a lot of different things now. I have tons of pictures I won't bore you with, but I can include a couple. I have made all the Disney princesses. The first one was my own creation as my DGD wanted a Moana who was not included in the pattern book… The second one is her basket of dolls I made over the years.

What a delightful conversation about knitting and crocheting! I began crocheting when I was a young teen or pre-teen and made doilies that we used. One I particularly enjoyed making had pansies around the outside. Chris, I love your cloth hanging, displaying old doilies. What a clever idea and such artistic arrangement.
I use crocheted dish cloths that I make. I also do/did hand embroidery and sew. I made my younger sister's wedding dress many years ago. I made all my simple window curtains and placemats that we use daily. I have tried selling my wares at the farmers market in MN but wasn't successful. I don't think I priced them cheap enough. I also opened a store on Etsy and enjoyed the whole process, but the store wasn't successful. Illinois Lady bought some of my dish cloths.
I'm about to start crocheting again making items to donate, possibly lap afghans.
I taught myself simple knitting but crocheting is more "natural" for me.
I would love to see more pictures.

Little Striker is back with us from the adoption center until Monday night or Tuesday due to the snow. He has been gone a week. He arrived back this evening and made himself right at home.
