@aj - Thanks for the good wishes that I have an OK time with Xeloda. They tell me they are waiting for insurance approval, etc. for now, and will let me know later when I can start. I'm also supposed to have a session with one of the pharmacists to learn all about "Xeloda things", once the drug comes in. I'm so glad to hear that you've done as well and as long as you have with this drug. It gives me hope.
I'm sorry to hear that you need Pepcid sometimes, and I'd had a feeling I'd run into the hand/foot problem very likely. Sometimes I think 90% of what I eat would be on the "high folate foods" list, so I'm going to have to make some adjustments for sure. Whether it's really a "thing" or not (per above discussions) I just don't know. I brought it up with my oncologist and told him how so many here say they do so much better when they lower the folate in their diets, but that also someone on here also said that their oncologist said there was no truth to the "rumor" about folate. My onc said that the problem is that there is no hard core scientific evidence that it's truly "a thing", but he didn't want to dismiss what so many swear is true either. I'll just have to wait and see how things go for me.
Again, I am sorry to hear that you get some reflux and have to take Pepcid. I have stomach problems occasionally and the doctors all jump right away to reflux and want me to take Pepcid, and I've avoided that so far. I have some muscle problems and maybe mild reflux from time to time, but never anything that would require regular Pepcid use, and I get kind of upset with them all just rushing to the reflux idea, before really considering other problems. I've had some repetitive motion soreness right below my breast bone, a fracture and lesions on my breastbone that seem to occasionally radiate pain to my upper abdomen, and even some soreness from stretches and exercises given by PT. If I ever complain about any of that, I'm told to take Pepcid. Well, I actually did last November, because I had more stomach pains - turned out it was from muscle and nerve problems from low magnesium, and the Pepcid I did take never helped the pain I was having, so I think I did make some sort of impression on my oncologist at least. An urgent care doctor at about the same time though, told me I needed prescription strength Pepcid and a referral to a gastroenterologist for an upper GI scoping. I declined both of her "offers" and have been fine ever since getting the low magnesium straightened out. The Xeloda issue could be different though, and I might really need some sort of antacid, unfortunately. Hopefully not.
You are such a big help with all of this, and like me, you also took Verzenio first, so have a good amount of experience with the stuff I'm dealing with. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that Xeloda serves me well and I have a fairly easy and very long run with it!✌️🍀

@irishlove - I'm another one chiming in here with belated birthday wishes. I hope you had a wonderful day and have many, many more! (I've been kind of a mess lately both mentally and physically, so there's so much here that I would like to respond to, but just wind up not doing anything - ugh! )
@goldensrbest - So awful that you got the flu, and so bad too - even after getting the shot! Wow, I hope you don't have to stay in the hospital for too long. I guess this current flu going around, is really something and I've heard before too, that this years vaccine wasn't a good match for what we got. I am really pulling for you and in your pocket.
@mara51506 - I am so in your pocket for tomorrow! I will absolutely be thinking of and rooting for you all day long! I'm going to fit myself way down in one of those corners of your pocket, like someone else here said, as you will have a very overflowing pocket for the next while for sure. Hugs too!

Carole , we record Finding your Roots on PBS. We enjoy the stories of people’s past and how far they’ve come. I also need a hair cut. Not sure by who or when!

Taco, I haven’t had a Cornish hen in a long time. My exMIL always made them. And yes, I remember Y2K! We were ready haha. As for photos, my sister is in charge. She received our mom’s cedar chest full of old photos.
Harley, I attempted a walk today and returned home quickly, to peel off wet shorts & top, to throw on a night shirt and turn on ceiling fans. It was 79 with full sun. My own fault, I should have been out earlier. Glad you were able to enjoy your outing.
Petite, oh so glad you were kept warm inside with 17 degree temps outside! Water issues, I think you’ll figure out what needs doing. Back in FL it’s sad you’re dealing with 2 cleared lots, one on each side of you. Definitely invest in the blinds. I’ve been ordering online from some custom blind company.

Yesterday I went to the oral surgeon to see if I qualify for an implant. I brought my CT scan from the endodontist, and my panoramic X-ray from the NY oral surgeon. This saved me money! The visit cost me nothing. I’m scheduled for the surgery on 1/28. I’m hopeful she can do the abutment at the same time as the screw - or I’ll need another appointment for that, and an additional $250. Max out of pocket should be $3,200 which I’m ok with.
For the crown that goes on the abutment, I’ll see my dentist in NY. I was going to try and get it while I’m still down here (FL) but figured I’d be doing it in a rush. Back in NY if I have any issues with my bite, the dentist is around the corner. And any delays, I won’t be forced to stay here vs go home.
Tonight we have a birthday dinner to attend. A neighbor & her husband share the same birthday. It should be fun.
Another couple we hang with booked 4 tickets for next week for us to see “Some Like it Hot.”
We also looked at the spring training schedule and picked which ones we’ll try to get tickets to. The box office at the stadium opens on Friday. So we’re ready! Fingers crossed.

@goldensrbest Joining with the others with empathy for your flu bug. I fear getting it and have been a recluse lately. We have the air purifiers going in the house and I plan on wearing a mask at the hospital tomorrow. My DD, who is a night ER nurse at a children's hospital, says they have patients everywhere and struggle to clear the waiting room. She says almost 100% of children who are there have flu A along with whatever else they are there for. My DGD went back to school today and I will avoid her too as much as possible since my immunity will tank today. Sigh.
@irishlove I know you are torn between seeing your DD and having them leave, but you are right, it is best. I hope you take this time to rest and recover. You deserve some peace.

Good news on the CT improvement. I hope the Verzenio dose reduction improves your GI issues and they can find the cause of / treat your chronic cough.

@irishlove My family is helpful for the important stuff. I need to shake it off, listen to advice, take what works for me out of said advice and go and ignore the blunt stuff. Life would be much better.
Seems we are the night owls, I was too busy doing other stuff. I tend to start eating, gets me through a sleepless day. Saw this dude on youtube talking about air fryer hacks. One involved hard boiled eggs, just pop eggs in, put in cold water after, using a frozen meal in the cold water to act as ice as I do not have any ice, posting when I find out. I know that it is perfectly safe for a frozen meal or meat to be put in cold water so might as well. Eggs are done at 140 Celsius for 15 m. Once done with the cool bath, planning to take out the frozen meal if possible, if not defrost in microwave a bit and dump the veggie stir fry in the air fryer. and have the eggs as a side dish, we will see.. My plan is to defrost the veggie stir fry, by adding some garlic and sour cream powder, cook for 15 mins at 140 stirring every few minutes, not looking for super crispy, just a different way to do it.
Addition, I did have success making the hard boiled eggs, two of them, same instructions as above, cooled in cold water with a frozen meal making the water even colder due to no ice cubes. The frozen meal became thawed though had a lot of water, had to strain the stirfry and heat about 5 mins at 140 first to remove most of the water content and did spend 15 mins heating through. For the last part, took the hardboiled eggs, peeled pretty easily and I just wound up tearing them apart and putting in the fryer with the stirfry. Liberal garlic flavour, used some caesar bacon dressing as binding and some crushed up great value cheddar rice cakes as well. It was really good. Just another weird thing to eat. All dishes soaking for limit of 30 mins. I also boil some water to add to a sink soak just so stuff is easy to come off.

First day in such a long time it's just DH and me (well dogs, feral cats, squirrels and birds, too.) Dinner was easy since I didn't worry about feeding extra folks. Thought I was getting a UTI and when I tested, it was positive immediately. Sometimes I can't tell due to MS and numbness. I'm an oddball, no fever. It has something to do with MS, but I no longer show tempt. when I'm ill. Doesn't mean I don't feel it inside and sometimes it's even a subtemp, which is just as bad. So stop Ibrance, start Cephalaxen 500 mg. Cipro is bad juju for me. I developed severe tendonitis in my feet. I discontinued Cipro immediately. My feet healed, but slowly. Cipro is a no no for people who use steroids, most folks over 65 need to be cautious.
