    Thanks ladies

This thread is like a good support group experience, always good.

Since I live in Michigan where we have a short growing season, I buy plants. A local nursery has organic plants.

Merilee-  Like Beanius, I knew when both my father and mother where going to die.  My father had an inoperable brain tumor and my mom liver cancer.  They were each given only 2 months (10 years apart).  In hindsight, I feel blessed to have known it was coming.  I was able to clear my schedule and spend time with them, knowing soon I would never be able to again.  My family lived in Hawaii and I will always treasure those last 5 weeks with my mom.  We really spent our days doing ordinary, simple things, reading, talking, laughing.  In the end, they left when no one was at their side, quietly, on their own.  I was very sad about this for years, but having heard the same scenario from countless people, I have come to think that it may be needed in order to let go.  I was so close with my parents, if I had been "holding" them here, they would have fought to stay, and they needed to go.  I'll keep you and your brother in my prayers.  As you are a gardener, maybe plant a special one for your brother?  I am planning on planting a moonlight garden this summer, all white, fragrant, nightime flowers and silver foliage that will light up in moonlight.

    Merilee,

It is so nice to hear from you again.  I am so glad that you are doing well heathwise.

As someone who has lost a sister to cancer, it is hard to know what to say. Each of us is different and will find a different path. Beanius's suggestion of being close and helping your brother to be comfortable, hit home for me.  Please come back if there is anything that your sisters on this thread can do.

    Hugs,

    Mandy

Merilee,  It's so good to hear from you again and to know that you are doing well.  Hugs to you, dear sister, as you struggle with your brother's problems.  That certainly is not easy.  I think the gals have given you good advice.  Spend as much time with him as you can.  Do whatever you can do to make this time easier for him.  It is through giving that we receive, and you will receive many memories in return that will be so valuable in later days.  Work on your garden.  Play uplifting music that you enjoy and tackle other little jobs that you've been putting off, like cleaning a closet or organizing a drawer.  That will keep your mind occupied and give you a sense of accomplishment and worth when the task is completed.

My heart and prayers goes out to you, your brother, and your family at this time.  Please keep us informed and come back anytime you need to vent.  That's what this thread is all about and there are some awesome ladies here who will always be available to listen.

Maryilee - So happy about the good news that you're one year out!  And so sorry to hear about your brother.  I think spending as much time with him as possible and making sure he has what he needs will be therapeutic for you, but also stressful.  Don't know how to relieve except that your garden will be wonderful for you.

Harley - Congrats on the 4 years!  Keep it up!

Well, I couldn't have my tx today because my WC was too low (1900).  Must wait 'til next week when I will have the tx and then a neulasta shop the next day.  Darn!  Was all psyched for today.  Have been tired lately so guess it was the WC.  Played 9 yesterday, but too beat to play 18.  The weather here is awesome.  The 70's today and 80's tomorrow!  Welcome spring!

golfergrandma, sorry that you had to delay but better to be strong for the treatment.  Gorgeous here today as well...suppose to be in the 80's!  Yeah.....I love Spring (well except for the tornado's)!   Heading to TX for spring break tomorrow and looking forward to the wonderful weather there :)!

Golfergrandma....so sorry that you had to delay your treatment for a week, but it's for the best.  Once those white blood cells get "back up to snuff" you'll feel much better.  Although it's been nice in Illinois (in the 60's) I enjoy you the even warmer temps.  It won't be long and you'll have these treatments behind you and you'll be back in full swing on the golf course.  In the meantime, rest up and enjoy your week of chemo holiday.

Cabmom....enjoy your springi break!  It's always nice to get away!

I'm off to buy birthday presents for my "soon to be two year old" grandson.  That's a fun job!

Why don't they give the neulasta shot before the tx -- it takes 4 days for the shot to take effect.  Doesn't that make more sense?  Hope my counts are up by next week.

golfergram....If they gave you the neulasta shot right before treatment, the chemo would counteract it.  Any good that it would do would immediately be overcome by the chemo drugs. If they give it immediately after chemo, it begins to work within four days and your body has additional time to build up more blood cells on its own.  Unfortunately, many of these newly obtained cells will be knocked out of commission when the next chemo arrives, but it helps us in the meantime and sometimes enough stick around to get us through another chemo session without the neulasta.  I bet your counts will be back up.  Our body does an amazing job of repairing itself.

Back from my TX vacation and we had wonderful fun with terrific weather but I don't know how people deal with all the traffic.  We probably saw at least 6 or more wrecks on our way down....it was crazy.  However, we did lots of fun things and got to experience lots of cool things so it was worth all the terrible traffic :)!

Hope everyone is doing well on treatments and remembering that every one done is one step closer to the END :), which is what we all want!

So how are you feeling, golfergrandma?  Do you go tomorrow for your next CMF?  If so, I hope your counts are up and it's a GO!  Check in and let us know how you're doing.

Cabmom..........so glad you had a nice "get away."  It's always fun to get a change of scenery and see and do new things, but for me, it's also good to get back home.

I hope everyone is doing well!  We've had some nice weather in Illinois this week but that's all supposed to change tomorrow with a quick dip in the temperature.....just when I was getting used to the 70's!  Oh well, spring can't be too far around the corner now.

Hugs to all of you!  Stay happy and healthy!

cabmom-  Glad you had a relaxing vacation

ritajean-  I hope your beautiful 70 degree weather is headed my way.  We had sleet yesterday and SNOW today.  I am so over this winter!

Well our 70 degree weather dropped drastically to 30 degrees today with strong, cold winds.  I was so excited because I thought that Spring had finally appeared.  Like you, DesignerMom, I'm sick of this winter!  Bring on that sunshine and warmth!

Hi everyone!  Have been gone for awhile getting my tx last Wed and the neulasta shot the next day.  The shot was much worse than the tx!  Was in so much pain yesterday that I had to take hydrocodone.  Better today.  Hope I don't need to have neulasta after every tx!  Did enjoy the lovely weather last week though and like all of you, we are supposed to have snow tomorrow.  Phooey!  At least it won't last for long.

golfergrandma.......so sorry to hear that the neulasta shot got you down, but I'm glad you're doing better now.  I guess I was lucky.  The shots never bothered me.  I hope you have a good week this week.  It's darn cold in Illinois today and it doesn't look like it's going to get much better for a few days.  Brrrrrr..........bring me back those warmer temps!

I hope everyone else is doing well!

    Hugs to all of you.

So how are you doing this week, golfergrandma?  I've been thinking about you.  It's been pretty quiet around here so I'm hoping that means that everyone is doing well and is just busy getting ready to enjoy the spring, which HAS to be arriving soon.

    Hugs to all of you!

    Rita

ritajean-  I think we got all your freezing cold weather....I actually see snow flakes and sleet out there!  I'd like to hunt down that stupid groundhog who predicted an early spring and teach him a lesson!  Spring will come, spring will come.  Hope everyone is doing well.

golfergrandma - I hope you are feeling okay and sorry to hear that shot gave you trouble.

ritajean - I have not been doing so well this past week. I think I got stressed out about getting my taxes done and some other major decisions DH and I are making (we have gotten architechtural plans to build a cabin in the mountains). Then I was overdoing it with jogging and jumping jacks. And it is such a dry climate I think I wasn't drinking enough water. Anyway somehow this all, and being on tamoxifen, combined to bring on a series of migraine headaches and then my 3 month post rad boob got all swollen and hot. I have laid off the exercise and just walked yesterday. Then I'm gently massaging and stretching and the swelling is better. It all freaks me out. But I am feeling a bit better today. I was reading on another thread that it can take quite a few months for the rad boob to completely heal, like maybe even a year.

designermom - we had two whole days without rain or snow and got a bit of sunshine yesterday. Today is gray again so who knows...at least temps are warmer, but I sure do hope we get more sun soon.

Anyway, I sure hope everyone else is doing well.

beanius-  Try not to over do things.  Your body is still healing.  How exciting about your cabin in the woods.  I am headed to your part of the world for the whooooole summer and just can't wait.  You are so energetic, but try to slow down just a little bit.  Take time to smell the.......pine trees!
