    Hi Sistas~
Thanks, Robin. I try to be as immature as possible! Sat night, BF and I were outside Houston at a sailboat event, and after the "dress like a pirate" party, we went back to the hotel. We parked the car and walked to a club across the street from the hotel, The Beach Club.

We walk in (still dressed like pirates) and we're BY FAR the oldest people in the club. Mostly a college age crowd, and the waitresses wear 2-piece bathing suits for uniforms (hence The Beach Club).

Needless to say we got a lot of strange looks, and they weren't "doesn't that look like fun" looks, but more like "who are the old people, and why are they dressed like pirates".

So - everytime someone sneered at me, I'd grab my sword and say in my best pirate voice "GARRR". When we were leaving, there were three 20-somethings approaching the door and I yelled (in my best pirate voice) "we've already plundered and pillaged here - there's nothing left, GARRRR". One of the girls kind of jumped back like she was scared.

I love going on vaca in places where nobody knows me! WooHoo! My immaturity really comes out!

Hope everyone is staying cool. If not, have a cold one.

    Cheers,
    Donna

Sorry about the wide-screen! I should have posted the pics separately. Yes, Miss Avery is a doll! She's such a joy, too. Motherhood is great and the house is going all to hell. Well, it's mostly clean but I haven't vacuumed in a while.....

    Cheers!

cleaning and dusting can wait till tomorrow
    for babies grow up
    we've learned to our sorrow

    so quiet down cobwebs
    dust go to sleep
    I'm rocking my baby
    and babies don't keep.

Keep that in your mind Janis and to hell with the vacuuming. You too are simply beautiful!
    hugs to all

    Your poem is beautiful!

    Jaybird,
How old is your daughter? She's just precious!!! I have a 19 month old named Ava and an 8 year old named Audrey. Motherhood is the Best! Vacuuming? I can't recall the last time I did such a thing! lol

Janis--Avery is so cute! Next thing we know, we'll be sending her off to school!

Donna--loved the pirate story. Where did you get you pirate stuff, or did you make it all? I've had a wild idea for a priate night takeover at our marina--but it is just a thought way back in my mind. Havebeen on-line looking for some "props".

Someone--PLEASE make the rain go way. Bet we had over 4 inches of rain this afternoon from one torrential downpour after another! And, when it does all dry up and go away, you all can be the first to slap me silly when I complain about how hot and dry it is!!!!!

We have company for the week-end. Wow--not only do I have the requisite Miller Lite on hand, I've got a kitchen counter full of Bloody Mary makings, bottles and bottles of yummy looking wine--wooowhoooo!!! Let the good times roll!--hmmm, used to be able to say that in French!!!

    hugggssssss to all--have a great week-end!!!

Hi ladies...haven't been here much at all lately but still think of you all the time and i wanted to post something here as well as the circle. Probably a little serious for the drinking thread but as sisters I don't care...just something I want you all to know.
...spilling my guts here and I don't care.
I have a lump in my throat the size of Texas over the Jessie case. I lived that life for 20 years...long hard years. I wanted to escape, I tried to escape (not saying it was the same situation for her but it very well could have been), I had no where to go and no one to help. No one would listen, no one cared. Everyone saw it and turned the other way. I got to a point the last year I was in that house with that man that waking up in the morning would make me cry for half an hour. I would actually be so incredibly sad that I had woke up yet again and had to face another day. Thanks to a wonderful friend (of his actually)and my dear sister I escaped. They went to a tax auction and bought a trailer on two acres for me and Sarah. It took me eight months to get brave enough to actually go but I did it! Slept in our car for three days in various places so he wouldn't find us, called the police so they would know...etc. I never went back. I am so thankful that I didn't. I could have been Jessie...seriously...it was that bad...worse than you can imagine or I can write about.
I am NOT looking for sympathy...I got out...I made it.
I want you all to know one thing....THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.
IF ANY ONE OF YOU IS LIVING IN A SITUATION THAT YOU NEED TO GET OUT OF PM ME IMMEDIATELY!!! I DON'T CARE WHO YOU ARE, WHERE YOU LIVE, HOW MANY KIDS, DOGS, CATS YOU HAVE...IF YOU NEED TO GET OUT I WILL GET YOU OUT!!!! I WILL BUY THE PLANE TICKET, BUS TICKET, RENTAL VAN, WHATEVER...BUT I WILL GET YOU OUT AND TRUST ME...YOU WILL BE SAFE AND SOUND WHERE I AM!!! PLEASE REMEMBER THIS...NEVER TAKE ONE SINGLE SLAP, ONE SINGLE INSULT, NO PHYSICAL, MENTAL OR EMOTIONAL ABUSE FROM ANYONE AT ANY TIME.
I will never suffer that kind of abuse again...ever...from any man or women. I live way out in the sticks and you will never be found...believe me...I've been here 9 years now and there are still people who don't know where I went LOL. I like it that way!
I love you all and I would protect anyone who needs protection. Never never never end up a Jessie...please.

Great advice! But, who is Jessie? I come from a domestic abuse situation and I was glad when my parents divorced! I, myself, made the SAME mistake of marrying an alcoholic (go figure). Now, I go it alone and while I don't like being alone I know that I WILL be alone until my daughter is grown. It's all about her and me and unless a man comes along that will put both of us ahead of himself then it will stay just her and me.

Cheers to all my drinkin' (and non-drinkin' buds)!

I JUST read the story on aol (I worked today, came home, fed & played with Avery turned on TLC & Lifetime.....). SO frickin' sad!!! 'They' say that women are more often than not killed by someone they know.....

I'm gonna get back to my wine now. Avery is crashed out! She's totally into trying to crawl and grabbing at everything. She even has a temper now! (cute to me when she fusses and pouts)

Vickie- thanks for sharing your story and your bravery is awesome. Maybe someone here will benefit. I do know that "better off alone than with the wrong person" is true. Thankfully, I have never had to go thru it, like you and way too many others.

Janis- LOVE the pics, Avery is so beautiful and you are looking great and happy!

Junie- I know you are having a blast with your company, you'd be having a blast even without then. MLs Rock!

Donna- good to see you posting. Are you studying the song lyrics for our sing-a-longs. So far we have Queen, Don McLean (hey, that rhymes) I was thinking about, Meatloaf (Paradise By the Dashboard Light) but it doesn't rhyme, I'll keep thinking.

Vickie, I cross stitched that poem when I had my first daughter! I loved it so.
I also agree no man has the right to do what was done.
I was a lucky one that I found one that has made up for all the lousy ones in my past!
For the past 17 years Scott has put my kids and me first and I love him for it!

OK I broke down, mixed some champaine, absolutete orange juioe and strawberries together and enjoyed every last drop of it!

Now I have to be good for a while!

    Love to all

I am so sad for Jessie but also for the Vaughn family, orginally from St. Chas. MO then close to Chicago, the husband said his wife shot him and the three kids, he got away w/ only a thigh wound... ends up he killed his wife and 3 kids on the side of the road in their SUV and blamed her. I knew it had to be him! Hwe was arrested and arraigned just as the memorial service began,so sad for both families.

Hugggssss to all the drinkin' buds--and invitation to come help me build an ark!!! I am so tired of rain, rain, rain...We're on high ground and not much worry of house flooding, but must be careful where we drive if we go down in the valleys. Happy week-end to all--and super big hugs to all who are caught up in this bizarre midwestern rain pattern! Stay safe!

Hey Junie - know what you mean about the rain. Send Noah my way when he is finished helping you!!! We have had 9" in the past couple days and its suppose to keep raining throughout the weekend. Our doorbell rang at 4 am with the police going door to door to advise everyone the river just west of us was at flood stage. We don't flood but we get flooded in. They always notify us so we can move our vehicles out of the area if we need to leave, or we are just stuck in our own little world until the water resides. Luckily, we have beer in the fridge!!!

Sam & Junie - I'm right there with you on this rain stuff. It's flooding all over the place here too. Not me personally, but lots of areas around where I live (Broken Arrow, OK) are flooded.
And yes, thank God for beer in the fridge!!!
    Everyone stay safe and dry.
