Living Proof makes a volumizing spray that you can adjust for the desired amount of “poufiness.” (You use it on dry, not wet, hair). You might also want to check out volumizing shampoos & conditioners—Suave & Garnier give the best bang for the buck, but I prefer Living Proof & Kevin Murphy. (My stylist gives me travel size bottles of the latter every time I come in). I take my AI at bedtime, so by the time I wake up I don’t notice the side effects as much (alas, the lousy metabolism is unaffected by what time of the day you take the drug).

Lori, I paid list for my Rimowa Salsa Air pieces, but back then they were at least a C-note cheaper per bag than their successor “Lite Essential.”(They’re one of those infuriating “fair-trade price” items that nobody discounts; worse yet, they don’t have an outlet store like Coach, UGG, or Skechers). Amazing how much cheaper, more advanced, and sturdier the Away luggage is—they eliminate all the middlemen. Both brands’ bags cost the same to make, but Away sells direct-to-consumer without wholesalers, distributors or retailers—just online or in their owned-&-operated stores in a few cities. (Much like Warby Parker & Zenni do for glasses). I think Rimowa’s tightening their warranty, pulling their stuff out of stores (and opening more of their own “boutiques”) was motivated by lowering their costs, but w/o passing the savings on to consumers.

I am being proactively organized—whatever I need for this trip that I either lack or is in bad shape, I just ordered on Amazon Prime for delivery tomorrow or Wednesday. Made packing & meds lists (too many different Rx pills to pack in their original bottles instead of my pill organizers, so I’m bringing the receipt sheets stapled to each paper bag from the drugstore—I’ve not had a problem with that before, but Ben-Gurion Airport security, arriving & leaving, can be very intrusive. (Last time I went, in 1992, I was taking only two prescription drugs plus an inhaler, and they insisted on opening my checked bags in front of me and grilling me about everything in them, though they did put stuff back neatly—this time, if I take all the original bottles, I will be wasting tons of time sorting my pills each night or morning, time better spent sleeping or eating a decent breakfast). My travel agent, who’s been back there often, says their profilers now focus on passengers rather than stuff. We shall see. Will sit down & plot out my wardrobe tonight—after I get back from Cellars to check on Bob’s bracket standing. (Before the weekend, he was in the middle, but as of last night he got 14 out of the Sweet 16 right, so I bet he moves up).

DOTD will be whatever works best with my $6 bacon cheeseburger—be it a Kaliber, end-of-bin red wine special, or an Arnold Palmer. (Depends on whether I feel like drinking—last night, I finished all 2 oz. of the Pinot Noir I poured to go with my salmon).

Sandy - I've been to Israel 12 times since 2007 and have never had a problem entering (or leaving) with my Rx in a pill sorter by day!! Coming into Israel, all I do is go through passport control. Leaving never a problem either. So hopefully you won't have any problems.

Finally got some rain here tonight. Some of the pollen may disappear, but still more in the trees. Now the temps are dropping and will be in the 30’s tonight and tomorrow. We have a beautiful Spring here. It just takes a while to get it going.

ChiSandy - I am impressed you know so much about luggage. I buy a bag at Tuesday Morning that works as a carry-on and get rid of it once something breaks. On my few trips to Europe, I did get a larger and better suitcase.

Currently watching the Lady Bears play B-ball against California. Baylor is ahead at halftime and looking strong. Should they win, the next game is against South Carolina Lady Gamecocks. I will be torn, but will likely cheer for Baylor.

My hair left about two months ago. Next were the eyebrows. Now my eyelashes are getting sparse. It does make the morning easier not having to blow dry my hair, but drawing on eyebrows is not much easier. Cancer has a way of making things very real. 🤪

One of our BCO members, LovesToFly (her name is Jill, from Toronto), has some chemo makeup tutorials up on YouTube--including how to draw on eyebrows and distract from a lack of eyelashes (during chemo, the skin may be too sensitive for false-eyelash adhesive).

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Twofer Tuesday! Boy is it cold outside this ayem, almost single digit cold. Supposed to warm up some during the day today, I sure hope so! You should have seen the look Sadie gave me when she stuck her nose out the door this ayem.I had to 'splain to her that I don't control the outside temperature!

Cammy--LOL at telling the obnoxious caller it was a ballcock. That is a neat word to say, sounds dirty, doesn't it? Nothing like baby cuddles, except maybe furbaby cuddles, right?

Goldie--I've got to admit that I'm kind of enjoying hearing about what is going on at the old office.Seems like CM#4 is getting just what she has wanted all along, and you know what they say about being careful what you ask for. There's going to be lots and lots of pressure on her and no way for her to shift the responsibility. I am so laughing up my sleeve about the whole thing! I do feel badly for the other nurses still working full time and getting really dumped on, though. I've always thought a Long Island Ice Tea was strong, that's why I've never ordered one. Someday someone I know will order one and let me taste it! A "bed in a box" is a foam mattress that is compressed, rolled up and delivered in a box.I'm getting an Osleep 14 inch Gel Memory Foam Mattress. You can also get bed platforms that come in a box and can be put together (the foam mattresses don't use box spring bases). My current mattress is quite old, at least 9 years, and not as comfortable as it used to be.

Gigi--my personal opinion is to wait a bit before shaving your head. I had some, but reallynot much, hair thinning with Arimidex. Some women don't have any at all.The taxol related shedding should stop and reverse soon.If you do have more shedding you can shave your head when that's apparent, but you might not need to.BUT--this is my personal opinion, take it for what it's worth and do what you think is best for YOU.

Jazzy--good point about the small town rumor mill!

Chi--sounds like you are a fellow list maker!I love making lists, especially for traveling and other good things, it seems to add to the fun for me! Where are you getting a $6 bacon cheeseburger?

    Morning, Karen!

Librarian--glad to hear the rain cleared out some of the pollen.

    DOTD:Ballcock cocktail

    Hi Ladies.

NM LOL on the drink and on the fact u get the last laugh where u used to work. I drank a Long Island tea ONCE , it was really good while u were drinking it, but after oh wow it hit me like a wallcock. I couldn't believe it. And yes to the furbaby cuddles, I miss mine so much.

Oh Sandy u have thought of everything, u do know how to travel,u got it all from soup <yes chicken noodle > to nuts <interpretation anyway u want>U must be exhausted just with organizing. BTW u haven't mentioned Gordy and Leslie, all good???

Lori ur always so sweet about my crazy family Sadly it's all true. And yea I try to keep up with Dara, I miss her here. It seems like she's sad tho. Her hole is acting up again.

I'm so happy all the gals here can give so much support AND advice AND knowledge about what some of u are going thru. I really can't add to it or start to give any, I never paid attention. I chose not to and just followed directions. But one thing I could not ever do was put on eyebrows. I either looked surprised or scared, so Leslie said she would do it for me, but I didn't have the patience, the only hair that actualy grew back in full <ugh>

Jazzy I didn't realize NM was that big, Well it sounds like it, for u to be not someplace before cuz I know how much u travel and again I travel with u.

Oh I was looking up a recipe, yes I was, not that I would make it, just curious. Well somehow it took my computer into a whole different zone and I couldn't get my google back. I worked on it for almost 3 hrs, I did get 1/2 of it back but couldn''t get my email back, it was awful, how the hell do people hack. It was a nitemare for me. well Joey came home and after the initial laughter of me looking up a recipe <I dont cook> after about 1 minute he fixed it. I thanked him properly and called him the usual F______ Bas____ we kissed and hugged and he went to bed. He's on break this week. And again he went to bed LOL. I did call Dan and he said if Joey couldnt do it he would today after he stopped LOL. These men are so aggravating.

Just got up about 2 hrs ago, so I guess I won't be getting dressed today, like I need an excuse.

    Mornin' Ladies,

I thought I slept longer but between the pic. of the cat and drink I could tell. LOL

There's nothing exciting going on here, <thank goodness> But it's nice having Joey home.

I was looking over the calendar and I JUST noticed that Monday starts April, yes APRIL where has all the time gone. I don't get it, Honest it seems like last month was Christmas now Easter is coming---kind of late this year, but so was lent and that all ties together, but this year the only way I know it was Lent was because of the bakery that;s out around lent for fat Tuesday, well everyday is fat Tuesday for me, but most people celebrate right before lent. Then my niece came over with ashes on and I actually recognized what they were this yr. I know I'm bad. I guess that means crazy March's weather will turn into April showers and then May flowers♪▼1♪ U know I can't help myself.

Now I have to check my work for the day, yes I do that to see where the guys are, then send them dir--oops funny pics.

I really hope everyone has a great day and feels really good.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Hump Day! Not sure why I'm dragging butt getting out of bed this ayem, but I am.Good thing there is free coffee, and lots of it and very good coffee, available at work! I think it's the getting up in the dark again, but that's ok. It'll get lighter earlier soon. I'm a little surprised Sadie didn't try to get me up the first time the alarm went off, but maybe she's tired too? She did a lot of running around in the yard yesterday peeyem, enjoying the warmer weather.

Cammy--It's the after that makes me leery of drinking a Long Island Ice Tea! I am glad to get out of the Hospice office before the you know what hits the fans. It's going to be really hard on some very good people, though. Computers can be royal pains in the anatomy, can't they?

Love the gittar kitty and his tapping toe!And the Citrus Brunch!

Cami, Gordy & Leslie are still getting adjusted to his weird swing-shift hours (3pm-midnight) and "midweek-weekends." She quit her teaching job at a charter school (underpaid, overworked, no union available) to do full-time online tutoring for the firm for which she'd been moonlighting. The big challenge is where to live: each apt. is fine for a single person, but neither his studio nor her 1BR have enough closet space for the both of them. She also wants covered parking for her car (which her bldg. currently provides). They need a 2BR, and the affordable apts. that offer parking (sharing a garage) are either condos (he doesn't want to buy, even if we pay all cash for it) or in 2-or-3-flats...in less-than-convenient neighborhoods.

She wants to look in Albany Park (marvelously diverse but which still has a gang problem despite beginning to gentrify), but unless they can be walking distance to (or no more than one bus ride away from) the CTA Brown Line (whose terminus is in Albany Park) he will have a very tough commute. He works a block west of the Loop L system (Brown Line--the Pink Line goes through too pricey a 'hood, as does the eastern portion of the Green Line, but the central part runs through-no polite way to put it--the W. Side ghetto and the western part ends in the lovely, historic but wildly unaffordable suburb of Oak Park; the Orange Line to Midway passes through very dicey neighborhoods as well. The Purple Line has some stops in affordable parts of Evanston, but doesn't run downtown except in rush hour--so he'd have to change for the Red Line and then the Brown to get downtown. And the Brown doesn't run in the Loop after 11pm on weekends). What he does now to get home is walk all the way to the Red Line, which is 6 blocks from his office, but only 3 blocks from his current apt. Leslie is loath to stay on the NE Side, lest she run into any of her former students whom she fears might view her as a "quitter." (The students are heartbroken, because they thought the world of her).

But for a millennial with a theater degree, it is indeed miraculous that he landed a decently-paying job he likes with good health insurance and a 401(k), however hinky his work schedule. He can't do his comedy shows, of course--but after a year he can switch to normal hours and stay at the same pay level (currently, he makes $4/hr. more for working odd hours).

Jackie, Cellars has $6 half-lb. cheeseburgers ($1 upcharge for bacon, another $1 for any side other than fries or slaw) every Mon. night. Understandably, they are packed to the rafters (almost as full as for their weekend brunches...which is one of the few meals Gordy & Leslie can enjoy together).

Gotta go vote tomorrow in the mayoral election runoff--it's my last chance before my trip. Haven't missed an election since I became eligible to vote at 21.

Good Morning, Loungettes! Happy Thirsty Thursday! Here I thought it was Wednesday until I looked at the calendar. This is why I cross off the days as they go by! I'm easily confused, I guess! Lots of excitement going on around here yesterday. Two towns schools went into lockdown, there was information floating around that there was an active shooter at both places, but, fortunately, that was just rumor. A 13 year old has been arrested for terrorism for making threats on social media at one school, no one is sure how the second school got involved yet. Such insanity, all taking place and over with by 10 ayem, but still creating havoc and fear at dinner time. It's a scary world we live in these days. Sadie says a woofy good morning to everyone!

Illi--HOORAY for stable scans! That Aussie Rum runner looks delish! Have a great time with the BFF!

    Good morning, Jazzy and Janky!

Chi--Wow, that commuting sounds incredibly complicated! I hope they find a place that has everything they both want and need. Too bad about the teaching job, but the online tutoring sounds like a better option. When will the US wake up and start paying teachers what they are truly worth?

I wanted to see what was in an Aussie Rum Runner, the closest recipe I could find is the Rum Runner:

    Rum Runner

    Ingredients

    • 1 oz Light Rum
    • 1 oz Dark Rum
    • 1 oz Banana Liqueur
    • 1 oz Blackberry Liqueur
    • 1 oz Orange Juice
    • 1 oz Pineapple Juice
    • Splash of Grenadine
    • Fruit to garnish

    How to Mix

    1. Combine all ingredients in a blender with two cups ice
    2. Blend until smooth then serve in a hurricane glass with fruit garnish and a straw

    . Mornin' ladies,

Kim that horrible about the schools, this keeps on happening and they can never take it for a joke I don't get it, why are there so many angry and need to kill like this. It makes me sick. Bless all these poor families. Well I am glad u can look back at ur job and boy did u get out in time., I sometimes wonder if u had never gotten sick if u would make this decision. Oh give sadie a big belly rub for me.

Sandy I'm sorry I'm so nosy but Gordy has really caught my interest with Leslie. I really can imagine how difficult it is to get a good place for them. Jodie has worked downtown now for 20 yrs <Yikes> When her boss had a chance to go to and become a partner to a different place he took her with. So for a time she thought of living downtown somewhere. But nothing was right so she lives around here and loves taking the train, she finds it relaxing before and especially after work. And she only lives like 5 mins. from the train. But when ur used to living in Chicago, I think u want to stay there. There are so many many places to go, why not??? Are we all packed yet LOL

    Jazzy r u getting ready.

I hope Lori come on today so I'm going to check back.

Janky how r u doing now.

Oh silly note, my baby Joey is almost 5' 11" LOL

Sheesh - I'll try again - Good morning from sunny, chilly Alberta! After a few days home from vacation I am starting to regain my equilibrium. As per usual my bloodwork (neutrophils) are really low so no next cycle of Ibrance for me yet, I ish there was a magical exlixir that would boost the blood as my DOTDs are not working ;)

cami - I love your kitties, they sure make a person smile!

Jazzy - glad the project is done, relax until the next one comes along to captivate you!

NM - There is so much craziness with guns, very frightening for sure. How is Sadie managing your new hours? I am sure she is agreeable once she is used to the routine?! scratch behind her ears for an extra minute :)

Chi - we have always lived in small towns, so never dealt with the living, commuting issues - sure sounds complicated, I am hoping the right place comes along sooner that later.

gigi, mema, jcs, goldie, illi, and anyone I am missing Happy 'almost end of the week' day! Cheers!

Hey Ill- since you are in WI, can we say you got the winning Powerball number? One winner up there, so they say? Fest up girlfriend! Anyways, you are celebrating in good style.

Janky- your trip sounded really great. Are you feeling more recovered?

Chi- your trip is coming up fast. I hate dealing with luggage issues. Gordie and Leslie sound like they are doing so well together! Can't wait to hear about all the great places you will visit soon.

Cami- is Joey on spring break? I bet you like having him around. Your buddy.....

NM- always fun to observe work place dysfunction from a distance. I hope you are liking you new gig? I laughed about Sadie needing to be comfortable the bed. She is a character. I still love the stories about her taking the utensils, etc.

I don't feel like I have slowed down at all yet. Dealing with some accrued needs with having some freedom in my schedule. Got one car done for spring service and another going in tomorrow. I cleaned out part of my garage today and that felt like a good spring cleaning move. I got contacted about some new work with my old client here in town and accepted it today. Will start on April 15th and have the next few weeks off to get my trip down south in as well as some other to dos around the house. Mo money! Jazz has a busy year with her work.

Going to bed. I need some good sleep

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy TGIF day!Getting up to some rain here. That's going to go a long way toward melting the rest of the snow and ushering in mud season. My driveway is a total mess. Sadie has started finding some mud to play in while in the yard. Let the floor washing and dog bathing marathon begin!

Cammy--LOL, what a dance! It is horrible about the schools, and people are all upset because there wasn't instant news available. There's a lot of talk on the news this ayem about needing to stay calm and be patient, that news isn't given out until it's verified, and the difference between a hard and soft lock down. (Who knew there 2 kinds of lock downs? I didn't!)I wonder too, what would have happened if I hadn't gotten so sick that time. Sometimes what seems like a real problem at the time does turn out to be a blessing down the road. Joey is almost 6 foot tall?? WOW!!

Janky--Did the post-snatching gremlin pick onyou? We really need to find a way to exorcise him. I wish there was something you could do to keep your counts up after treatments. That has got to be frustrating. Sadie says "Thank you" for the extra ear scratch time! She's adapted pretty well to the new schedule, until the week rolls around that I keep very odd hours to do the monthly inservices. Then we're both confused for a while!

Illi--I bet that lemonade was increadible! It sounds and looks very yummy!

Jazzy--I am really liking the new job. Lots and lots to get done this summer, but it's coming together. The first big project is well underway. Sometimes I'm surprised to realize that I only started this job a month ago, today! Glad to hear the old job is done and over and a new one is up and coming and you have some time in between to take care of things. A busy year is a good year!

Dara loves her job this time, I'm happy for her.

Well Janky are u fully rested now, sometimes it takes a little longer than it used to.

Illi ur lemonade reminded me of an Arnold Palmer but I think that drink would be good with Vodka an Arnold WOW Palmer would be good.

Here I am getting chemo this morning. My blood pressure is low. 97/57. No one seems think the chemo is causing it. White blood cells low, but not too low to get the infusion. Everything else looks good. Guess I am getting the hang of this chemo thing.

Beautiful day here! Spring flowers are blooming and the sun is shining. It is supposed to rain Sunday and get cold again for a few days. Not complaining!

Love both DOTDs. I have to learn how to mix a fancy drink to celebrate another week of fun!

    Have a great weekend.

    Hi my DahhhLinks,

Happy Friday. Fridays lately have been mine and hubs night out. Local bar has really good clam chowder and fried cod. I don't like much in the seafood area but do like the cod fish and chowder.

Hair, hair, everywhere!! I lost mine for the 3rd time about 18 mos ago, previous hair losses had regrown in no time. But not so this time. Have been using Rogaine faithfully for over a year, not much in regrowth...like...nil. Just got box of Tinactin (sp) in the mail yesterday. Haven't started it yet, but will let ya'll kno if it works.

Also, this 3rd time my weight loss is almost nil, so ordered Nutri-System, haven't received it yet, but excited about it. I hope it works and yes, I have been exercising too.

Got to get to my cycling...will yak at all later.

Ilona, that strawberry Stoli lemonade sounds fantastic! Gotta try that place next time I'm in Milwaukee—the German restaurant across from the Bradley Center is now just another fast food/sports bar.

Sitting here in the Delta Sky Club at O'Hare killing time till I board the first leg of the flight—ORD->JFK. Sprung for an annual membership, as upgrading to business class would have cost an extra $9K for the trip and even $3K just for the Tel Aviv->JFK leg alone. Will just have to knock myself out for that 12-1/2 hr flight. If Bob could handle Chicago-Tokyo (14 hrs) in plain coach, I can do it in Comfort+. When I return to JFK, I get my Global Entry interview and redress # right on the premises. (And now you can apply for TSA Pre at the airport before you go through security)

Got TSA Pre, hallelujah! Breezed through security (though I did have to remove both my jacket and hoodie, and I preemptively put my jewelry in my purse). Didn't even set off the body scanner—guess they've finally calibrated them to recognize orthopedic hardware. Speaking of which, I didn't pack a cane—my JFK->Amsterdam flight has me in an exit row, so I didn't want to tip off the crew that I might not be able to carry out the duties thereof. (Did practice hefting my rollaboard high enough to reach the bins—if I do need assistance, I can just legitimately say I'm too short). Flip side of that is that if I ask for a wheelchair for any part of my itinerary, I forfeit that nice aisle seat and am stuck in the middle. At the gift shop I got a water bottle that collapses absolutely flat. Right now I'm powering this iPad off my suitcase!

Amsterdam is flat as a pancake, so no need for a cane—but Jerusalem is hilly. I can pick one up in a pharmacy. (Won't need to buy CBD, since I was able to sneak the gummies & chocolate in with their “normal" doppelgangers; and I have a 36-hr patch on). Even remembered after I voted (no lines!) to replace the battery in an old-school watch, to set to Amsterdam time once I board.

DODT and it's not even noon? Yes, please! Cappuccino before breakfast, and Veuve de Vernay bubbly after, as I type this (increasingly ineptly), Looking out at the tarmac—kinda relaxing on what turned out to be a sunny day, with my flight scheduled to be on time (knock wood), Gate was changed to the last possible gate on this concourse—to paraphrase what we say on Passover, wherefore is this day different from all other days?
