Fascinating pictures, Jazzy. Gotta laugh about being the only covered-up person at a clothing-optional pool. Years ago, when I was in a trio with a Wiccan and a Pagan, we got invited to perform at a co-ed Pagan nudist festival—but without clothes. Of course, guitars would have covered the embarrassing bits, but nonetheless we declined. Speaking of caves, between Jerusalem & Masada we passed the caves at Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered. We were too tightly scheduled to stop, but in 1992 our interfaith tour group did. One of the reasons I’m not taking as many pix now is that I still have several mini-VHS cassettes from the last trip, which I plan to have digitized. Meanwhile, the HEIC-vs. JPEG struggle continues—I promise that when I get home to my regular laptop I will post everything in chronological order.
Alas, I slept in and missed the Bat Mitzvahs (another woman—my age!—decided why the heck not) at the Wall. Of course, it had to be half a football-field away from the wall itself (couldn’t be at the women’s section because the rabbi was male and the spectators were co-ed; women rabbis are verboten in Orthodox Judaism, the only denomination legally recognized there). Now, one technically automatically becomes Bar or Bat Mitzvah (“son or daughter of the Covenant,” with full adult religious obligations) at 12 for girls and 13 for boys; by then, they’ve spent several years in Sunday school (for Orthodox boys, it’s daily) learning Hebrew, the Bible & its history, liturgy & theology. The culmination is leading Friday night services and then reading a “parsha,” or Torah portion (corresponding to the weekly part of the Torah being read worldwide on that date). Minimum requirement is three full sentences of Hebrew (most kids do far more), and then the “haftarah,” or corresponding post-Torah biblical passage. It’s okay to recite it, even in English; but most kids learn how to chant it using ancient melodies keyed to the diacritical markings on the Hebrew letters.
But I grew up ultra-Reform (basically secular/cultural) in a neighborhood where most of us were the same but too poor to afford to join the Reform temple a mile away; and the Orthodox girls weren’t allowed to study Torah—their religious obligation was to make a proper Jewish home (and be fruitful and multiply). So I didn’t have a Bat Mitzvah until we’d moved to Chicago, had Gordy, and started him in Sunday school at our nearby Reform Temple—which had a coed adult “Anshe Mitzvah” year-long program during which eight of us studied together and then had our ceremonies—four each on Friday & Saturday. I was 38. The women on our tour didn’t even have that program at their temples. And in Jerusalem, if you pay a rabbi, he will have you repeat phrases of the parsha, sort of like taking the Oath of Office, and then give you the ancient “priestly blessing” (if you remember Mr. Spock’s split-finger “live long and prosper” gesture, well, Leonard Nimoy got that from his uncle who was a rabbi). No prior instruction necessary. No handshakes, of course: Orthodox men may not touch women not their wife (nor even their wife from day one of her period till she’s been ritually purified a week later by dunking in a “Mikva”—from which the concept of baptism evolved). About half the group walked there to bear witness and cheer the women on. The parsha was from Leviticus...the litany of thou-shalt-nots. Not exactly fun & games or even storytelling,. And all in Hebrew. As gifts, the Bar Association gave them souvenir fountain pens (for decades, the traditional gift for Bar Mitzvah boys was either a top-of-the-line Parker or Sheaffer; the prototypical Bar Mitzvah speech begins “today I am a man;” but the joke is that it’s really “today I am a fountain pen.” Or, these days, an iPad).
We took the Hatzalah tour, which was as inspirational as it sounded in my prior post; though the gist of it was to get us to consider donations (which can be pretty steep). We finally checked into the Intercontinental in Tel Aviv; to my chagrin, I found the room had no Nespresso machine like the ones in Amsterdam & Jerusalem. Instead, an electric kettle and a fistful of Nescafé packets (ugh). So I reamed out a Nespresso capsule from my stash, and made “cowboy coffee” (not too bad, certainly better than instant though the first few sips were sorta “chewy”). That was DOTD #1. We walked through the nearby Carmel Market and found a blissfully non-kosher dim sum/sushi/Pad Thai joint and knocked back a few seltzers.
I was beginning to get a very scratchy throat (it was inevitable), so I went back to the room to nap. A bunch of folks were planning to walk to Jaffa for some seafood or Arab cuisine, but something in my Brooklyn-kid past was whispering to me “matzo ball soup...NOW!” Jewish penicillin, of course. As part of the hotel’s lavish Shabbat buffet, that was DOTD#2. And numero tres was a nice Barkan (Golan Heights) Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Dinner came with a little bottle of sweet Concord grape wine for the kiddush, but I just wasn’t feeling it, and left it on the table. My waitress insisted I take a second plate of desserts back up to my room, which (thank goodness) has a mini-fridge.
Oh, and though I’d been led to believe that only Jerusalem was overwhelmingly observant, this hotel is every bit as kosher. The hot dishes on the buffet had to be started before sunset; everything else on the menu till sunset tomorrow is cold. And no cappuccino or espresso at the bar on Shabbat: the machine is not rabbinically-approved. Oy. (Looks like I will be walking to Jaffa for shellfish for lunch). It’ll be a nice walk along the beach—supposed to hit 70+ again

Mornin' ladies,
Undie glad to see u poop in <<<HUGS>>>
Jazzy even when u go on vacay u never stop and when u come home u never stop---bless you. Luv the pics. and thinking about them is even more amazing, people were actually there. Wow---history is amazing.
Sandy u another one ur post was so interesting to me I really enjoyed reading it. And I thought of my dad, he was such a history person and for whatever reason He really was always interested in Jewish history, so I remembered many things that he used to talk about, not in ur detail but still they were buried in my memory. It was nice for me. Now I can't wait to see ur pics. BTW when do u return to Chicago??? I forgot of course.
Misty I'm so glad u went on the cruise, sounds wonderful. It's good to laugh and celebrate life..And I agree, Illi always has a drink that looks like she's at a party every day. good for her.
OOOHHH my phone just started so I have to go for now.

Hi friends- happy Saturday! I was out early to meet a friend at a coffee place that is new-ish and heard was awesome. A friend from my yoga retreats and after seeing each other a couple times the past few years, we decided we wanted to connect more than once a year. We both love to travel and find ourselves in similar places. She was in the same area I went to in San Deigo in January last month and now she is off to Denver where I will be visiting next month. Good coffee and conversation. I brought home something called "aged sumatra" for the home coffee needs. Looking forward to that tomorrow!
Cami- I was VERY slow waking up this morning and think my body is coming off the busy contract, the trip, etc. Tomorrow morning I plan to sleep in. Today is a full day with morning things and heading to Home Depot next for some pansies for the pots.
Undercover- glad we can help. Mistyeyes here lost her husband suddenly and think on top of cancer, it is just another really hard thing to deal with. You keep taking good care of yourself and stay here with us to lurk, post, feel sad, laugh at our antics or whatever else you may need to do.
Mistyeyes- you sound like you are doing better all the time. Although I have not lost a spouse, I have lost people in my life that make it hard for me to want to get out and do much. But somehow, we have to find our way through to a new normal without people in our lives the way we had them. It all takes time so you just keep doing what you need to as you are able.
One of my fav jazz artists is here in town again tonight, an up and coming artist by the name of Lindsey Webster. She was here a couple years ago and got to meet her too (did a selfie, lol) and she is back again. Her collaborator husband is on the keyboards, but they have since split but are still doing music together. I think that is admirable.

I hope folks in the northern part of the hemisphere are seeing more signs of spring. It is getting greener here all the time!

My cold is really ramping up. I wasted a lovely mild sunny day yesterday lying in bed in my hotel room, napping & hydrating. But it was Shabbat, so anything I wanted to see or visit was closed. Finally made it to a Super-Pharm for some zinc & the Israeli equivalent of Airborne.
Went to a little restaurant In the “hipster" trendy part of Tel Aviv called Suzana, so my DsOTD were Airborne and a flute of a reserve cava. As with all open-air urban Israeli restaurants, feral cats abounded and had free rein. (They do have a really good trap-spay/neuter-ear tip-release program here, so there is no rat problem at all). They had the telltale ear-tip, so they were OK to roamabout. One was particularly brazen—tapping my thigh, mewing softly and giving me the slow-eye-blink. It was all I could do not to slip him a bite of fish, but it was just too expensive.
Getting a late checkout and then taking a free a short city tour, ending up (of course) at the diamond center. So that I don't repeat my mistake of 1992 (Bob warned me this time not to buy any diamonds), I am practicing my sales resistance “no thanks...my husband would kill me" spiel.
My flight isn't till almost midnight, but to my chagrin they won't even open security & bag check till 3 hrs ahead. And the Delta-affiliated lounge is in the wrong terminal. Hoping the VAT refund desk is open, though. Will likely have a light bite back at the hotel before retrieving my bags and heading to the airport.
If all goes well, I land at JFK at 5:30am Mon., go through my GlobalEntry interview and Customs, then TSA, then the jitney to Terminal 2 for my flight to ORD (there's a small Delta lounge, but nothing like the Xanadu in Terminal 4). Should be home by 2, upon which I will spend a few hours watching the inside of my eyelids.

Mornin' ladies.
Well Sandy u answered my question...Whoa this has flown by for sure. U covered a lot in a shorter time than I thought. What a wonderful trip and soon the pics.
OK Jazzy at least u had to stop a little, but come on not that much. Now when will this new job be happening??? If I member correctly it won't be for a few weeks, so u can finish up all the odds a nd ends u need to,.
Dara is putting a lot of hrs., in where she works, but she still like it so that's good.
I worked yesterday and the day couldn't sleep all nite this nite, so I'll probably be napping on and off all day. I really hate that before,, I get so screwed up. Then Jazzy I think of u cuz if I go out like 3PM and get home around 9pm it takes me 2 full days to recoup, even if I have a good nite's sleep. It's just a long time and I don't know why this is underlining my words. I must have hit something. Oh well

Chi - my flight last week was at 11:55pm Delta TLV to JFK and the VAT was open. Everything was open. No liquids were allowed so we even had to empty water bottles before secondary security unless you had a receipt for you water bottle. The airport is actually quite busy still. And the Delta flight was packed!!! Safe travels back to the states.

I survived the reunion weekend! My husband really enjoyed himself. I will have to take some time away from alcohol as I took advantage of having an open bar. I am tired from all the standing and talking. It is rainy today so will probably spend most of the day sitting on the couch reading while wrapped in my blanket. Tomorrow I will go to the Apple store in Charlotte and window shop at the fancy mall with a friend
I am looking forward to watching the Lady Bears play their championship game as well as the Texas Tech Red Raiders. The football state of Texas is finally recognizing B-ball!
Hope everyone has had a great weekend. Let’s take some time to rest today while we look forward to the week to come.

Good morning friends- happy funday Sunday! I have a t-shirt that says that now, but save it for outings vs. wearing it around home. The crazy plant lady went to Home Depot yesterday to get a cart full of pansies and a few other flowers. Getting those in the front yard outside pots this weekend and also pruning more shrubs and bushes. The perrenials won't go in to the ground for another week. We will be safer from frost by then. Love watching the yard and gardens come alive with greenery. The remaining trees are starting to come out now. We have a long spring here, starts end of Feb/early March and goes into Memorial Day before everything is fully out. Ahh choo!
Chi- sorry to hear about the cold but it sounds like you are dealing with the symptoms with OTC meds. I know flying with a cold is no fun though. Safe travels friend. Sounds like an amazing trip with good weather too!
Cami- if we are able to finalize this contract, I will be starting a week from tomorrow. Not much of a break between these two contracts but it will be enough to have had my little trip, and get a lot done around the house. I have a to do list of things I need to get done this coming week, but also may try to get up to Santa Fe for an afternoon one day too. I had wanted to go in March and have not been there in awhile, but too busy. Tax stuff done, contract stuff almost done, and just need to be sure everything else is in place. I told myself I could also go next Sunday too once everything is wrapped up and before we begin the new gig.
Thanks for telling us Dara is doing okay. We don't see her hear much, and don't see her on FB much either. But I know any new work is busy to ramp up on. Glad she is doing well!
NM- what are you and Sadie up to this weekend?
Goldie- I hope you are home soon and that your DD is doing better all the time. I know there is more to deal with. The year my mother passed is also the same year my sister and I got diagnosed with cancer. As we have learned, problems no longer come in threes but more like six packs these days. I hope you can get some rest when you get home but know this may also be a busy time for your business too. Next time I go down to Silver City, I want to swing up to visit you!
Okay ladies, have a good day! I am off to the yoga mat and then to make banana nut pancakes for breakfast!

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Monkey day! Looks like I missed the entire weekend on the boards! Not sure how that happened, except that I got a lot of stuff done around the house. Was supposed to get up to snow and a messy commute this ayem, but the snow has yet to arrive. Should arrive around noontime, now, still saying 4 to 6 inches. Another dose of poor man's fertilizer for this year's crops. Sadie had a grand time in the mud yesterday, she won't be happy to see more snow, even if it doesn't last long.
Cammy--I think I was in high school before I realized that meat-free Fridays was a religious/cultural thing and not just a local tradition. Mom always said that it made meal planning for the week a little easier, she always knew Friday dinner would be fish or spaghetti.Hmm, seems we had meat sauce on the spaghetti, so I guess that really didn't count! Yup, the new bed being so much higher is quite a workout to get into and out of, I still haven't found a graceful way to do that, but I manage. And it is really comfy!
Jazzy--It's odd, but I do feel pretty detached from the old job already. I realized the other day just how toxic that office environment really is and how much it was dragging me down. The new place is very different, we aren't all up in each other's private lives and once I'm given a project I'm also given the tools and equipment and information I need to do it well. I really feel like I am making a contribution, and have been adopted by 4 new Grandmas as a bonus! I think it's wonderful that you went to the clothing optional pool, and that you were welcomed and accepted with your suit on. I don't think preferring to not go unclothed is the same as being a prude. If you were a prude you would never have gone there in the first place!
Misty--Good for you for going on the cruise! It must have taken some effort to do that and I am so glad you had some fun. Greif is not an event, it's a process, and it moves at its own speed. Sadie and I are getting a bit anxious for true spring to get here, hoping we aren't going to be in for a short summer.
Jazzy--those are amazing!
Chi--the info about Bar and Bat Mitzvahs is fascinating! Sorry you aren't feeling so well, hope it passes off quickly.
Undy--you know the rules, no need to ketchup, no need to address each of us individually, just come in, sit down and have a drink! Hugs.
Cammy--WOW, 3 slices of habanero in the drink! Talk about hot!
Jazzy--love the music!
Chi--Safe travels home!
Cammy--Ooh, that Vanilla Spiced Rum sounds sooo goood!
Karen--another traveler returns!
Librarian--glad hubby enjoyed the reunion, and you did too. I used to enjoy window shopping, haven't been anyplace where there is good window shopping in ages!
Jazzy--Sadie was into playing in the mud, and I was into cleaning up the muddy dog and house this weekend. Did make a batch of scones for breakfasts for the week, and make some chicken and dumplings and got lots of laundry done. Lovely breeze for drying laundry this weekend.
Cammy--now THAT's the way to start a Monday!Or any day of the week!

,Hi ladies, Kim SNOW again, we're into April now, but like u said it will melt pretty fast so it will be a memory soon and mud for sadie. Oh so good how much better u feel about ur job. I mean we all knew it but I like for u to say it too. It's about time and u deserve to be respected all the time.
Sandy u better have dosed urself really good so this cold leaves before u come home, cuzz sometimes they seem to last longer when ur coming off a vacay and u have to come home and load ur pics, so u have work to do.
Talking about coming home, Lori should be home sometime today <I think>
JC how did I leave this out, the reunion, was it urs or what. but u seemed to have the best time which I personally don't really cuz I see the ones I was close to in school all these years and who I see there I hardly knew in HS, so I stopped going a while back, I think I went to 2 in my life and that was it.
Jazzy I didn't think u were going back to a new job this quickly, usually it's a little longer but it good to have the job anyway.
My phone started but I took care of it, told them they had the wrong number.. <No I didnt> but I felt like it.
Hope Monday's good for everyone.

A friend shared this on FB. I have no idea if she has had it or not, but perhaps so as she moved away a long time ago. It is real and raw and worth reading. One of those articles I will book mark for collections when people say "you are all done with that cancer stuff now."

Hi ladies- we made it through Monday! I am almost done with the new contract, they accepted most of our changes and now just need to have a final conversation with my biz atty in the morning on one point. My hope is to finish this up tomorrow and all other related paperwork and then I should have the rest of the week free to get other things done. I have some things to finish getting ready for consignment (more mining of the closets) and more yard stuff to do. The weather is beautiful still and today there was a bevy of quail in my back yard. Although I have seen them around before, never there.
Cami- I am learning to take projects quicker, especially this time of the year as once you get in the summer months, there is less work around. So if you don't have something by April, sometimes the work is not there again until the fall. I am on a mission to pay off my house this year, similar to what NM was doing a couple years back and very focused on making consistent income to get er done this year. I am well on my way and then we can have a virtual on line mortgage burning party together. I had planned to pay it off in 15 years and think it will be more like 15 years and six months by the time we are done over here!
Mistyeyes- tomorrow it is supposed to be up to 80 and then a high of 50 the following day. We may get some snow showers this weekend. Enough of this winter stuff already!

just checking in - you have all been so busy, makes me feel lazy because all I have done since returning home 2 weeks ago is - nothing! Arghh I have had very little energy and now my family has a Family Reunion semi surprise week in Daytona Beach May 3-May 12😏!! ALL of my children and their families, all my sisters, AND my parents will be there, gong show!! 2 out of 4 sisters know the details and 2 of the 4 children know...my son and his wife are coming from Australia, my parents and 1 sister from Georgia, 1 from Montreal and 1 from Florida- my parents are not aware of this so I hope it isn’t too much of a shock!
Cami - keep the kitties coming!
Jazzy - sounds like your trip was great- I loved the photos!NM - I am visualizing you and Sadie getting into the high bed- humour in all things!
Hi to all illi, goldie, chi, jcs, misty snd everyone else!
Wednesday I have to go for a contrast bone scan and drink a barium solution as well 2 hours prior- not my desired dotd 😏 then bone scan too. Cheers. Ja

Good morning, Loungettes! Just a quick poop in from my phone as the house internet connection seems to have gone on strike over the 4 inches of new snow we've got here. Will ketchup with you later! Sadie says Woof to everyone.

Basketball is over finally. The Lady Bearswon, but Texas Tech lost. One out of two is not bad! Did not buy anything yesterday, but did enjoy the drive and visit with my friend. We talk incessantly so the time seems to pass quickly.
This week I have more “socializing”, a teeth cleaning and a visit with my Oncologist. I am working on my questions about treatment moving forward. I have been reading about oligometastatic breast cancer. Treatments focus on cure rather than systemic chemo. Interesting discussions.
Raining here. Starting to think about getting the yard in shape. Such a small window here before it gets too hot and humid to do much outdoors.
Let’s all have a great week!

Karen, that was the situation with my flight last night (the same one as yours). The line at the first VAT registration desk was super-long (I got there at 8:15pm), but passport control & the first round of security moved fast. Ditto with the VAT redemption desk line. (I got a big enough refund to buy Bob the Cuban cigars he'd wanted).
But Delta screwed me over trebly. First, I got an e-mail Sat. night telling me that it was time to check in, but that I could upgrade the domestic (JFK-ORD) leg for only $109. I did the math and realized that's only nine bucks more than the second bag fee, so I signed in, put in my credit card details, clicked "Submit," only to be told that since I already reserved my Comfort+ seat, I'd have to go to "Change Seats" to upgrade. So I clicked that link only to be told my session had expired and I'd have to sign back in again. So I did...only to find there were no first class seats available. Of course, that didn't stop Delta from charging my credit card. And when I went to the bag-drop desk at Ben-Gurion, I got charged the $100 for my second bag--the agent said I'd have to take it up with Delta.
Made it through, got my VAT refund, bought Bob's cigars and turned down a free snifter of cognac from the duty-free shopkeeper, saying I was headed to the Dan (Delta Sky Club partner) lounge before my flight. Walked in to the lounge, and handed the receptionist my boarding pass clearly printed "Sky Club," only to be told "Sorry, this lounge is only for First & Business class passengers." I insisted, pointing out the "Sky Club" on my boarding pass, but she held firm. I pulled out my Sky Club membership card (for which I paid $585/yr for guaranteed access to all Delta Sky Club & partner lounges worldwide), and she not only refused to honor it but called over her manager (an imperious imposing bullet-headed 6-1/2+-foot Sabra--I'm Ashkenaz but do have a Sabra relative or two, and there's a definite rude attitude there), who said "I don't care how many American dollars you paid--we make the rules, and you'll have to take it up with Delta." (I half expected him to add, "now get out of here, you shiksa riffraff"--because I am fair-skinned and blonde without a NYC accent, shopkeepers were always surprised to learn I'm nearly 100% Ashkenazi Jewish). Spent the next hour commiserating with other American travelers--one young woman from Indianapolis who'd been denied an >$100 VAT refund at the rebate desk because the shopkeeper had used an "obsolete" form (which the intake clerk at the VAT registration desk initialed & stamped "approved"), and another whose paid United Premium Economy upgrade had mysteriously disappeared from the system (despite her showing an e-mail receipt). I was beginning to sense a pattern--I'd encountered none of this stuff at any other airport worldwide. And to add insult to injury, we were all griping about this over regular cappuccinos: the self-described "alternative cafe" didn't offer decaf, saying it was "unsustainable and not organic."
Then it was a freakin' madhouse at the gate--people with Main Cabin & Basic Economy tickets kept congregating and cutting in line at the Priority Boarding area (despite the gate agent pleading "Delta One and Comfort+ only, please"). Two Delta employees were arguing with each other arguing over what that meant. Meanwhile, once we finally were herded and lined up in order of tickets purchased, we still had to open all our carry-ons for hand inspection before being allowed on to the jetway. Up till then, I'd been kicking myself for not digging out and refilling my collapsible water bottle after going through security, but it would've been confiscated (there was no place at the gate for emptying a bottle) or I'd have lost my place in the boarding line to go find a fountain or sink.
And the last unpleasant surprise from Delta: the entertainment on our Airbus 330 froze despite several reboots. At least we were compensated 5000 flyer miles.
DOTD: at dinner at the hotel's "Nomi" restaurant, Gamla Brut Reserve; on the plane, Aria Cava Brut. (No more alcohol for me at the Delta lounge at JFK--too early in the morning, though that didn't stop other passengers).
I'm still extremely jet-lagged, though my cold is slowly getting better; and Bob attributes my horribly swollen ankles & skins to "venous insufficiency," so I have to go pop another Lasix and lie down with my feet up till I have a shrink appt. in a couple of hrs. (Blew off the orthodontist this morning--didn't want to breathe my cold germs all over the staff). A bit nervous about driving, though I had 9 hrs. sleep last night (plus some day naps). But the shrink is up in Highland Park, 40 mi. north.

Sandy - my ankles were so swollen when I landed at JFK - I don't remember it happening before - the swelling didn't go down till the next morning. I've been going to Israel twice/year since 2016 and yearly before that for several years. I was just there in December and then last summer. Sorry that . you had so many hassles. This was my first trip to Israel on Delta. I generally fly Air Canada (or a partner) so I can go through Toronto.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Hump Day!Here it is, almost the middle of April, and it's still snowing. 4 inches yesterday. 3.5 inches this ayem. Arrgghh.Even Sadie is disgusted!
Jazzy--what a moving article. Thanks for sharing.
Misty--LOL!!!
Jazzy--I can't wait for the virtual mortgage burning party! It's a great feeling!
Janky--Good luck with the scans today, praying for good results. And go ahead and do nothing if that's what your body needs you to do right now.
Librarian--Nothing like a good time with friends when you chatter away the hours and it seems like minutes.I'm curious to hear what you find out about oligometastatic bc.
Chi--crazy stuff with the Delta charges. And what a fiasco of a trip home! Glad you are home safe, and with nothing worse than swollen ankles and a resolving cold!
Morning, Karen!
Morning, Cammy!

Recipe
- 1 ounce Baileys Irish cream
- 1/2 ounce butterscotch schnapps
Pour the Baileys into a shot glass, followed by the butterscotch schnapps.

Good morning friends- happy hump day! This week is going way too fast. Normally I would like that but it is my week to get a lot done before I start my new gig at the old place. We are doing the final paper work today on the contract and I will begin on Monday as scheduled. I got paid out the last of my invoices on the old gig that finished two weeks ago so I am ready to get back to making MO MONEY! I am on a mission with the house.
Yesterday it was up to 80 degrees and today it won't get above 60. Another bomb cyclone is moving in to the Rocky area (and extending down here) but not sure we will see much moisture. Mostly wind. Denver peeps and those in the plain states, be careful.
Chi- your travel back sounded hard. Take care of the swelling issues. I seem to have more of that these days on longer flights too. Do you know the waterfall pose in the yoga world? Otherwise called legs up the wall. It is a way to drain things out of your feet back in to the body. I do it at night before bed a lot to get what is ever in my feet and legs flowing back in to the body to be recycled. There may be reasons you would not want to do that either, Bob will know. Hope you can rest from the trip and recover from your cold.
Janky- fingers crossed on your scans for good outcomes!
Karen- how cool you go to Israel twice a year. Do you have family there?
JCS- oligometastatic bc is not a term I have ever heard so I read up on it. There are always new things to learn about this disease. I am trying to get my yard in a good place before I resume work (and back to having mostly weekends to do things). The winds today will keep me indoors.
Cami- I love your kitty memes. How much longer does Joey have for the school year? Is he doing okay? And Les? And how about you and all your boyfriends? Don't pretend you don't have lots of them.
NM- ugh, more snow. I just have one thing to say below about that
Have a good day ladies!
0 -
Jazz - yup Denver is on Blizzard warning...we've had a little snow so far, but it is expected to pick up and winds are increasing. DIA cancelled 750 flights for today and 300+ for tomorrow morning....
My youngest daughter moved to Israel in 2016 - so reason for twice/year. Before that for several years I went in the summer. Since 2007 (my first time) I've been 12 times - I volunteer in the summer in a program for 2 weeks on an army base. I've made some good friends from doing it.
Not sure if I will venture out for a walk due to the winds and wet snow - might just need to walk in the house
0 -
Jazzy, I definitely agree with that meme. Monday it was 77 here in Chicago...today we've been having "wintry mix" and may not even hit 50 till well into the weekend. Had to drag out the UGGs and leather parka again. Ugh. Will try the waterfall pose later today. Bob was still concerned enough last night that he insisted I blow off my mani-pedi and go see my primary this a.m. instead. Saw his P.A., who noted that the swelling had begun to go down, the redness & hardness were fading, and that the lymph "blobs" on my shin were all but gone. She was able to produce some "pitting" in the ankle edema--normally an ominous sign but in this case, the fact that my skin was soft enough to do that is a sign that the edema is beginning to resolve. She says to stay on the Lasix, alternate bedrest and walking, and see her or my primary in a week. (Also, to start wearing open-toed compression knee-highs when flying >2or 3 hrs). I was able to go to my mani-pedi afterward--though when the salon owner (who is my nail tech) saw the blisters on my L foot she elected to just trim the nails and do a polish change instead, being loath to soak my feet and possibly accidentally pop the blisters. (One bandage was coming off, so she replaced it).
Still a bit jet-lagged, with a lot of work to catch up on, so will try to post pix later when the fatigue has ebbed.
