Goldie- the sculpture is about 3 feel tall and 3 feet long so on the larger size and heavy. Yes I got the stain out. I am going to put it on my patio under the covered area for better protection from the elements. It is inside now as it is crazy rain and wind today (yesterday too) and there is a blizzard up north and torandoes in the SE part of the state. EEEK!

JCS- good luck on the scans. Will be in your pocket for good results on Friday.

Cami- hi girlfriend and thank you as always for your kind words. I have some interesting new things in the works for work......

Mema- thank you for the good wishes. Are you doing okay, through your latest treatment plan? Been thinking of you often and hoping better days are unfolding before you. Time for spring time and all the blooms!

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Hump Day!Boy this week is going by fast. Hard to believe it's already Hump day. I guess I'm getting used to the time change, but I am not liking getting up in the dark again. Sigh. At least that will change again over time. I'm sitting here listening to the news and guess what? Maine is finally moving into the 20th century! One of the big hospital groups is introducing patient portals with 24 hour online access to medical records, test results, making appointments, requesting prescription refills, etc.The same thing that has been available all across the rest of the country for how long now? Maine health care is sooooooo slooooooow to adopt technology. Even Sadie is shaking her head!

Goldie--My brother often prefers canned goods over home cooked, he says the taste is more consistent. Maybe it's a guy thing, they like the food to taste exactly the same every time? I know when I cook things don't turn out exactly the same way, depending on what fresh veggies/herbs etc I have on hand, or maybe the mood I'm in. It's an oddity. Spring cleaning the grill is always an adventure! I can't count how many family of mice I've evicted from my grill. Good luck with the website. Wow, that is one BIG grill!

Cammy--Hi, pretty kitty! I love blackberries, have to try the Fence Hopper! I wish I did live closer to you, wish I could hug you for real once in a while, sometimes we both need that! I am enjoying work, it's taking some getting used to having so much autonomy, but I'm getting there!

Librarian--Glad you had a good weekend in the mountains, even if you did get couched for a while. And glad the PET went smoothly. Praying for good results now. Why does your friend want you to get a second opinion? I'm a fan of second opinions if anyone has any questions or is the least unhappy with the care they are getting from their current doc, but it sounds like you are quite happy with your doc and current treatment plan. What does your friend hope the result will be from a second opinion?

Chi--I got called for jury duty once many, many years ago. The process was kind of interesting. One case was a child sexual abuse case, everyone on the jury thought the guy was guilty except one who believed that "that's the way those people live" and so would not vote guilty. Endedup with a hung jury.

Jazzy--the idea of tornadoes near you is scary! I think I'm more afraid of tornadoes than any other weather phenomenon.Tornadoes can show up with no warning at all, very terrifying!

    Pretty blooms!

Janky--glad you are having fun in Florida, and good for you for being in the moment and not on the internet! But bring back pics to share!

My friend’s husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor seven years ago. The doctor here in Columbia gave him six months to live and was not enthusiastic about that. Duke University Hospital is only a few hours up the road. They went there for a second opinion and treatment. Her husband is still alive and is NED. I tried to explain that I have a “white bread” type of cancer and her husband was an outlier with his disease. I agree with you that the second opinion comes when I am dissatisfied with my current doctor or treatment protocol.

The yellow pollen has started falling here. My sinuses are rebelling! If you have never seen the pollen it is actual yellow particles that fall from the pine trees. My black car is now yellow. 😫 You cannot help breathing and ingesting the particles. Your body does not like them! Everyone runs around with sinus issues until a good hard rain washes the stuff away. Spring is wonderful once this pollen is gone.

    Morning DahhhhLinKs

NM - poor Sadie doin belly flops on the iced up deck. Singing

I hope the snow is over for you…did I tell ya we even got some snow. It was all melted away by noon tho, I did get pics too. Court said all they need is a letter from my doc faxed to them. Hope that works.

Lowee - Oh yeah…that was my cousin Julie and you are right, it was Ginger with me on our 1st meet. I am still doing chemo. Doc said at least for a year…which will be in late fall…ehhkkk. But I'm hanging in there in fact feel pretty darn good. Still not liking to prepare dinners, my DH likes the 'made from scratch' meals. Gets old, and my back still bothers the heck outta me. Have to rest on a heat pad just to get meal finished.

Cami - loving the kitties and yeah, that 'fence hopper' looks yummy. I get the 'speaking to someone who can't speak good English'. And I am feeling much better and hoping the fax from my MO will excuse me from jury duty.

JCS - Sounds like it was fun for all up in 'dem der' mountains. Sending positive thoughts and lots of prayers for good results on ur PET. I went to Cancer Treatments of America for a 2nd opinion after a year o treatment here. I just wanted to know if I was getting the best care in Vegas. MO's at CTCA confirmed that I was. Really put my mind at ease.

Sandy - I used to be able to say I work for the POLice and that got me excused every time. Thank you for asking, I am doin much better. Will remain on chemo thru the rest of this year, then I hope I can stop them.

Janky - YAY, glad ur having a GR8 time in Florida. Thanks for checking in.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Thirsty Thursday! I had a wonderful time at the Wednesday Women and Wine meeting last night. We met at a little, hole-in-the-wall restaurant/bar with alimited menu but absolutely GREAT food at good prices, a fantastic atmosphere and the nicest Red Moscato! We sat and visited and gabbed for 3 hours! Sadie was not amused at my getting home so late, and made very sure to get her snout VERY cold on the last potty trip before bed. Then she warmed up said VERY COLD snout on the back of my neck! Gotta love non-verbal communication!

Librarian--I can understand where your friend is coming from given what happened with her husband.I am very happy they are enjoying such a good outcome. His situation is an outlier, that's for sure. I'm sure she wants the same result for you. I am very familiar with pine pollen!I have one big pine tree in my yard, and it turns the whole place yellow in the spring. I have an air purifier that I have to run in the bedroom during pine pollen time. It's amazing how much yellow it picks up overnight.

Mema--I think the snow is pretty much over for this winter. Next couple of weather events are rain, and even if we get more snow now it won't last long. Getting warm enough for some good melting most days now.

Cammy--YUM!I can't wait for strawberry season! And that is one happy kitty!

    Mornin' Ladies,

JC I was going to ask u the same question Kim asked cuz I wondered too if u were happy with ur Drs. I too believe in 2nd opinions but if u have a good feelingabout ur Drs. I feel like it's all good. Why do u have to wait so long tho for results??? Wait this Friday, tomorrow, then that's OK. Just tell us ASAP when u can.

SusyQ I can't imagine that they'd want u on a jury with ur circumstances or tell them u are a retired attorney and those are the cases u handled. Well Sandy did tell the truth tho, but once they see u lied they won't trust u so u out for that reason. I know this sounds goofy but I'm glad ur going for another yr. of chemo, after I finished mine I had to go another year and it really did it' job. So it's worth it. <<<HUGS>>>

Kim this morning thing is chit, but the nite part is fine. I think back to when I worked tho and hated the morning dark, I wanted to put a bag with a needle in my arm for coffee. But someone talked me out of it. Haven't seem a pic of Sadie lately ahem ahem ahem, get the idea.I love our furbabies, I watch a movie and see a whole family get shot and when their dog gets shot I cry. I always think oh the parents would eventually get divorced and hate each other and the kids will grow up to be druggies but the dog will always stay the same.

Jazzy that reminds me of an apple tree, of course I have no idea but it's so pretty, as is all ur pics. I hope that u can smoothly transition when this job comes to an end and u can get to the next on.

Janky so happy ur having a great time, u know when u gals travel I visualize I'.m going on a trip exactly like urs. and soon I leave with Sandy.

Sandy we have a lot to do so I hope u get everything done with ease. Really u must be getting excited like crazy. This is a big one so pics please, lots of them. I like ur new avatar, we can see ur pretty face now.

Lori I think ur gone somewhere now, or I'm confused again.

My niece came over today and stayed a couple of hours, I enjoy her so much. Her son is the one getting married in May and the girl's family is Italian too but really have to have a huge show. So she never likes to start anything and the mother is having 2 dresses so debbie will too. Except she showed me her reception dress and she'll knock everyone out of the water especially with her figure. But the shower was over the top so the wedding I'm sure will be way over the top. Now my sister and I have to put some outfits together. The real problem we have is the ceremony is over 1/2 hr from here and at noon, then pics, then they'll go downtown for more pics while everyone will go home and change, then the reception is at 6PM <not far tho from here> but Leslie Lu and I can't seem to be out a whole day like that anymore, it's just to much. We hate to miss anything really but we're going to have to. So of course I want to go to the reception <oh so do they> cuz we can take our time and take a nap and feel decent for a few hours. Well we'll see it's still a while away. Oh the shower had small size bundt cakes <different flavors> the came from Nothing but bundt cakes, or some name like that and Leslie told me she never tasted a cake like that before, Oh yea what can u do with that kind of cake??? well she was right it was unbelievably fantastic, so I had to look it up wow they're expensive but worth it if ur have a party. BTW my expertise is anything sweet so I know. LOL

Nothing new here really, heading out to the cabin tonight for a long weekend. Gonna try out a new beer, more on that later.

    Hope all is well 😀

Cami, I'm not stressed about my mom, just hate seeing her like she is. She has literally been laying in bed for a year. I won't be doing as much canning this year, due to all that I did last year. LOL at leaving with Sandy next, on her trip. No, I'm not gone, and no, you are not confused. Well, maybe!!!! I hear ya on weddings being early and then the reception way later.

JCS, glad you had such a nice time with your friends. That Nuelasta made my legs feel like rubber! What does your friend think you will get with a second opinion? That you don't have cancer? Wishing for all good things to come from the scan. Amazing and a blessing for your friends hubby. And yes, totally different cancer than what you have. Pollen here too, but not as bad as what you are explaining.

Sandy, lol on getting de-rooted and de-split-ended.

Jazzy, I thought your new piece looked pretty large. Haven't noticed any blooms here yet, but I'm at a higher elevation than you. Are you actually in Albequerque?

Janky, keep enjoying all that warmth.

NM, funny that your brother prefers the store bought canned, boxed, etc. It starts getting light here around 6 am. I had forgotten about your wine/women meeting. 3 hours worth says you were all having a good time. Some times those little hole in the walls are the best.

Sue, I'm so glad you are feeling as good as you do. Let's keep it that way! How often is chemo?

Illimae, cussing at a cake cuz it was so good!

Been busy looking for places to put our website to sell our place. Not as easy as it may seem. Went to town today, instead of tomorrow. We don't want to list it with a realtor.

Hi ladies- well I had to vote myself off the island again tomorrow, lol. Finished my big project this week, and working to do a wrap up meeting presentation plus started this other new thing (literally the next day) they asked me to help with but they want the new guy to take over. Of course he is out of the office now for a few days and also end of the month and many others were out this week too for various reasons. Got a terse messages from the boss man about my hours, so I though "okay, here you go again." So I said "I am fine with wrapping up for the week, have a great weekend." Put on my OOO and told my team I would see them Monday.

Anyways, tomorrow will be a day to catch up on things, exercise, take myself to lunch and do a bit more work on new opps. I have one up in Seattle I am waiting to hear about an interview on.

Goldie- I am sorry your mom is not doing well. It is hard to watch aging parents with poor quality of life at the end. And yes, I live in ABQ.

Cami- well I am trying to transition well. Endings can be messy sometimes, taking the high road. I will be done soon!

We had some of the huge cyclone that came up from Mexico and blasted the west with hurricane winds and crazy snow further north. Blew a train off it's tracks to the east too.

Okay, more this weekend. Happy slide into the Ides of March.....

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy TGIF day! I guess having more daylight at the end of the day is a good thing, I got lots done after work last night, including some shopping, some laundry, a load of dishes and started reviewing the new teaching info that was delivered. With lots of games of tug with Sadie in between chores. Tuckered the pup right out!

    image

Cammy--I won't watch movies where the dog dies if I can help it. Can't stand that. Can't stand the ASPCA commercials, or some of the pics shown on FB, either. The rescue ones are OK, cuz the pup looks good at the end, but I hate seeing them suffering. So glad your niece could have a nice visit with you. Maybe you and Leslie can go to the ceremony, go back home while they do the pics and such, and rejoin them at the reception after a nap or a rest? That a long time between the ceremony and the reception, it seems to me, but maybe that's the way things are done nowadays.

Illi--enjoy the long weekend at the cabin!

Goldie--The Wednesday Women and Wine meeting turned into quite the gabfest for us. And none of us had more than 2 glasses of wine! It wasreally good time. It's getting light around 6:30 here, was getting light around 5:30 which is when I should get up. Oh well, it will be getting light around 5:30 again in a month or so. Good luck with the website and selling the property/business.

Jazzy--It sounds like they want you to cover while the new guy and a bunch of other people are off.Glad you said no. Having a ketchup day at home is always a good thing! Wow, sounds like quite the wind storm!I think I saw something about that on TV.

    Mornin ladies,

Kim there's our Sadie. see what little effort that was. LOL I so miss my own furbaby. Our Lucky is a snuggle whore, whoever sits with their feet up he goes to under the covers.Oh me too, I can not watch the commercials

Lori I quess it would be more difficult selling ur home without a realtor, I mean putting a sign out wouldn't do anything. And it sounds like ur not on a running path with traffic, I'm sure it will be perfect for someone, but u have to get the word out, but the internet works wonder. I mean if people from Nigeria can scam so many people here lots of people read the internet now. So u've got that going for you. And obviously u never had the bundt cake Janky spoke about cuz u'd swear too, it's fantastic, I didn't believe it either, thanks Janky.

BTW Janky when r u coming home???

Jazzy it seems to me like u finished that project quickly, but I'm glad u have others going for you. Wow that has to be so difficult getting ur own jobs.

Sandy when is the ETA on our trip, or did I miss it already??? I've been late a lot lately.

JC how r u doing, how many more, the countdown has started.

Oh we had tornado watches last nite, how odd to me, A small dose f non freezing weather and they are lining up. Jeez. This spring should be interesting, no not really.

I hope a good day comes to everyone.

Typing this from the food court at Midway—we board in 40 min. Did pretty well packin'—all I forgot was an umbrella. Will have to share Bob’s. Off to NOLA!

Had some hassle yesterday. Packed Bob's suitcase, snapped the zippers in, and tested that the combination was right. (He never locks the bag, so I guess I shouldn't have snapped the zippers in). Oops—it didn't work. Spent the next 90 minutes trying my usual combination-lock-picking trick but it didn't work this time. Called the luggage store in a panic, and they walked me through what they suggested—no luck. Drove up there, traffic all the way. They tried every possible combination—still no luck. They finally looked at the crevices next to the dials—and the plastic disks were stripped. They said that the TSA probably used their key, and that's likely what cracked the latch between the lever and tumblers. Had to cut the zipper pulls. And the other rollaboard I brought in to fix the handle? They don't repair Rimowas any more—because Rimowa now sells only at its own stores or website. (You might still find a close out on Zappos).

So when I get home I'm gonna have to ship the bags to Rimowa in NYC and hope they're back in time for my overseas trip in 2 weeks. (Gordy trashed all the inner zippers on the medium sized one, so maybe I’ll send that too—unless I can find a shoe repair or tailor shop to install new ones. The “green monster” 30-incher holds way more than I need for any trip less than a week, so it’s overkill today). I can’t live out of a carry-on if I have to change for dinner—too many clothes, need at least 3 bras to alternate (so they don’t get ruined) and at least an extra pair of shoes I don’t want to trash when I walk outdoors and in transit. I can’t do what Rick Steves suggests and wash my undies & socks in hotel sinks and sleep naked or in my underwear. The Bar Assn. trip will have at least 3 formal dinners, courtroom visits and tours of religious sites, so Green Monster will definitely be stuffed to the gills for that.

    Oh, yeah—DOTD: Bob’s having a Bloody Mary

Hi ladies- happy Ides of March and pre-Patrick's Day weekend. When I worked in Massachusetts, we used to have 3/17 off as Evacuation Day (the day the troops left Boston in 1776). Also happens to coincide with with St Patty's day. Coincidence with the large Irish history in the Boston area? I think not! I love it and yes, I have a wee bit of the Irish in me.

Heading out to get a few things done, taking myself to lunch, nice walk later. Enjoying my transition to freedom.

Wishing everyone a good slide in to the weekend.....

    Hello all!

Went for my PET scan results this morning. Breast tumor 90% gone, lung tumor shrunk and appears to be dead. Yippee!!!! Oncologist was thrilled. I was thrilled. My family is thrilled. We are adding the new immunotherapy drug, Tecentriq, to the treatment protocol. It will mean longer in the chemo chair, but hopefully it will make my own body do some of the work. Doc also said I could stop taking the potassium pills and didn’t have drink all 64oz of water. Just stay well hydrated. I will never be in the “cured” category, but feel we are moving to maybe a maintenance plan. I will be celebrating will champagne tonight! Thanks to each of you for the well wishes and support even though you do not really know me. I was worried, but am now so relieved it is amazing.

Hey My Thirsty Friends.. long time no check in! I’m doing great...1 more...just 1 more Taxol / Herceptin combo! Still have hair, shedding like a dog, but it’s there. In the back how I sleep is real thin, but gonna push through with what I got!

Hot friggen flashes from hell! Taking otc meds, but will be getting prescription on Thursday, not sure what it will be but, Dr said she’d hook me up.

Finger tips are very dry only on my dominant hand.Dry to the point they crack. Got liquid skin today for that.

Blood work still rocking, some things are low..but not drastic!

Chapped upper lip..not sure about this. Don’t drink out of can!

When I hit my 12 tx on Thursday, I’ll be on Herceptin every 3 weeks for 30 min! No pre meds no bloodwork! Oh yea, the friggen steroids and Taxol-jeans are tight! Hope when done this week, weight goes down! Between the Taxol, steroids, menopause, I’ve gained🤦♀️! Only about 10 lbs but that’s enough!

But, thank the GOOD Lord above, I am here! No matter what I look like❤️🙏💪👊!

The “flat tire” not so flat! We have put almost 500 cc in so far. Almost done. Got my implant surgery on the books for May 21st! Gonna implant the one that had the BC and lift the other!

Sitting outside with my honey enjoying adult beverages waiting for the storm to hit! In shorts!!

    Stay Thirsty My Friends! Later!

Congratulations to both of you—Gigi, for coming into the chemo homestretch, and Librarian for stomping the tumors into submission.

DOTD (at lunch) was a Hurricane. We’re heading out into the chilly rain to try to catch some of the St. Patrick’s parade in the Quarter. Dinner is at 9 on the 100 block of Bourbon St. (Redfish), so I hope we can get in there early. (Heck, I hope we can even get near the Quarter while the parade is still on. (We’re at the Hilton by the Riverwalk—normally a lovely short walk into the Quarter in good weather, but not tonight)

Gigi- you too, pushing through chemo and getting things planned for recon. My sister had one in recon and one lifted and was very happy with the outcome. Fingers crossed for you too.

My guess is I have shared this before, but for the newbees......

    LOL, Jazzy!

We tried to catch the French Quarter St. Patrick's parade, but it was too small and too fast—took us half an hour just to walk to the closest part of the route. It was windy & rainy, and my umbrella nearly got trashed. (And between the potholes, cobblestones and drunken tourists jostling, I nearly fell several times and did twist my L ankle three times. (Not swollen, but a nasty bruise). I felt a sharp thud on my umbrella, looked up and saw a bunch of guys on a balcony throwing beads. What hit my umbrella was a strand of big green beads—but it missed the spike and hit the pavement...wet, yucky, Lord-knows-what-besides beer & water-soaked pavement. A souvenir like that I don't need.

We got a third of the way up Bourbon and gave up. I forgot how much I hate Bourbon St. at night. Anyway, we were 90 minutes early for our dinner res, and had been heading the wrong way. So we turned around and found a little “pocket park" run by Cafe Beignet, with a jazz quartet playing standards. Most importantly, it was canopied. So we sat and listened (I had a few sips of Bob's mango daiquiri) and then hit the restaurant (Redfish Grill). Had a flute of Mumm's Napa rose while we waited, and an Oregon Pinot Gris with dinner.

Did almost 12,000 steps (it helped that I started before 6am).

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Saturday! Sunny here with clouds coming and going, not sure what it's supposed to do or not do today. Warmer with lots of melting going on, a good thing if messy.Mud season is not far off now. Kinda happy to see it coming, even if it does mean lots of floor washing to deal with as Sadie goes in and out! Happy to see summer coming. There's a bean suppah at one of my favorite places today, I'm looking forward to that and a visit with Mom and Dick. Bill and Gloria didn't go last week because Gloria had a cold, I'm hoping she's over it and they can come this week.

Cammy--Silly TGIF kitty! My Ides of March was pretty calm, how was yours? I can't imagine life without a furbaby. I can't imagine how much you miss yours.

Chi--Wow, what a problem with the zippers and locks! It amazes me how some people can pack for a month of travel in just a carry on or back pack. Talk about organized! A friend of my Mom's used to travel quite a bit and only used a carry on. She would go to a local thrift store and buy clothes for the stay, then leave them behind, tossing or re-donating, and only carry the clothes she was wearing and one change in her bag for emergencies. I've also heard of people shipping their clothes to their destination and then back home rather than paying luggage fees. Seems there are lots of creative ways of saving some money!

    Jazzy--happy transition weekend!Enjoy!

Librarian--WOW!!! That is a great scan report! It really does sound like you are moving toward maintenance, and that is wonderful! Happy Dancing!

Gigi--WhooHoo! Down to one treatment left, Hooray! Sorry about the hot flashes, hope the new med is helpful. And hope the fingertips don't get any worse or the hair either! 500 cc in the flat tire? It must be standing pretty well now.And surgery already scheduled!Good for you!

    Morning, Illi!

    LOL, Jazzy!

Chi--Nice number of steps you did there!

Mema--wishing you many, many more years of visits to the HTL!

Gotta have my Coffee in the ayems:

The Irish Coffee is a classic cocktail featuring coffee and Irish whiskey, and optional Irish cream. It's usually served with the Irish cream, but the version without Irish cream is surprisingly good.

    Irish Coffee

    Ingredients

    • 1 1/2 ounces Irish whiskey
    • 6 ounces of hot, strong coffee
    • Whipped cream
    • Optional: 3/4 ounce Irish cream, or a teaspoon of brown sugar

    Instructions

    1. Pour the whiskey into an Irish coffee mug.
    2. Put a spoon in the mug and pour in the hot coffee - the spoon somehow magically keeps the glass from breaking due to the hot liquid (don't ask me how, just enjoy the laws of physics).
    3. If you're adding sugar, do it now and stir until it dissolves.
    4. Add the whipped cream on top.
    5. Garnish with coffee beans, coffee grinds or brown sugar sprinkles.

And for celebrating after coffee time:

My modified version of the Shamrock Juice cocktail recipe. This gorgeous green-blue drink has a fuzzy layered appearance. This drink has 4 ounces of orange juice, and that's what you'll taste the most.

    Shamrock Juice

    • 1/2 ounces gin
    • 1/2 ounces white tequila
    • 1/2 ounces light rum
    • 1/2 ounces vodka
    • 1 ounce Blue Curacao
    • 4 ounces fresh squeezed orange juice

Fill a hurricane or parfait glass with ice. Pour in the liquors and top off with the orange juice. Garnish with an orange wheel and cherries.
