Mornin ladies, just jumping in.
JC I don't remember but I lloked st ur avatar, and I really likr that pic. of u. And as I know u've heard u all must be really sweet for a swarm to move in.IDK if anyone noticed but I wasn't here. My usual reason, U know It's kind of sad when u have to go to the ER and people just know ur name.. Nothing serious, I guess my body needs a tune up but it takes my brain more time for it to finish. Anyway not such a good week, but I'm ok now and I'll be bock.
Oh unless I'm still delirious we're supposed to get a bunch of snow today

Last night's blueberry shrub

Worked on the azaleas this morning. Great day for it with sun, a little breeze, no humidity and not much pollen. My mother-in-law planted these azaleas over 60 years ago. I have a hard time with my husband allowing me to prune them. I think they are much happier and healthier with an annual pruning. Can you tell the bushes have been trimmed?
They could still be shorter. There is a black wrought iron railing and a bench on the porch behind the bushes that is difficult to see. It took me three hours to hand trim and clean up. My ass is on the couch now and will be for most of the rest of the day!
Have a great weekend!

I attempted to post some pics of my azaleas and they did not load. Maybe too large. Trying again. It was a great day for yardwork. Not too hot, low humidity, little breeze. The bushes are over 60 years old and were planted by my mother-in-law. My husband does not want them trimmed too short. I would like to see more of thewrought iron railing and the bench that are behind the bushes.

Cannot get the pics to load. I will try again after my nap.

I can not get the pictures of my pruning to load so you will have to take my word for it. I worked hard for three hours to get the azaleas trimmed back to a normal level. I love them, but keeping them under control is crazy. They were planted 60 years ago by my mother-in-law. My husband does not like to trim any shrubbery. He thinks everything should be over his head! And does not understand how most shrubs like an annual haircut. Half the work is convincing him it needs to be done.
Anyway, had a great day working through the steroid high. Walked three miles, trimmed the shrubs, did some housework and cooked dinner. Hope to sleep well tonight. Never did get that nap.
Tomorrow is another day!!!!

Cami, you were in the hospital??? What happened? Sorry you had a bad week. I love you and hope you are feeling better.
Jazzy, what a pretty drink.
JCS, have you posted pictures before? I can perhaps try to help you if you start by telling me how you were trying to do it.
NM, hope your teaching day went well. Poor Sadie has to wonder what is going on.
Sandy, you and Cami got snow? What the heck!
Same today as yesterday, more painting and gardening!

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Sunday funday! Sun is out, temps are above 50, gonna be a very pretty day. Sadie has already gotten play time in the mud puddle and tracked mud all over the kitchen floor. Got the first load of laundry out on the line. Gonna get stuff done today!
Goldie--I'm just getting involved in the new staff orientation, and it has moved to the very top of my priority list. Learning the computer system should NOT be as "asyou go" or OTJ training. A nurse cannot be responsible for patient care while learning a new computer system. Apparently when the nursing home went to the electronic system no one got any real training on how to use the system. The CPR/First Aid class went great, we all had a wonderful time and 10 more parents and teachers are now CPR and first aid certified, including one 81/2 month pregnant Mom to be that is supposed to be on bedrest!
Pretty Prickly Pear Mojito!
Cammy--I noticed you weren't posting and was worried about you! More snow? I'm not surprised. Poor kitty!
Jazzy--Does the blueberry shrub taste much like blueberries? I'm very fond of blueberry drinks.
Librairan--I can just imagine how much work you've done, spring is a time for lots of hard work in the garden. Great way to use that steroid high, too!

Maybe I can get one pic to load 🤞 This is the finished product. My Mother-in-law planted these over 60 years ago and my husband does not like to prune them. I would still like the bushes lower so you could see the wrought iron railing and bench on the porch behind them.

Good Morning DahhhLinKs,
Been away a few days…jes been so busy and when I think about what I've been doin…well I jes can't remember. Miss my mind sooo much.
Sandy - Thanks for the info on a true Latte. I had not heard about some shops adding CBD, but hey…I'd take it!
NM - We have been in the 80's, 50's in the am. It's going to get really HOT here soon…ugh. It is nice to see the sun early in the morn….practically promises a bright, sunshiny day. Think that's a song I used to hum to myself in my skiing days. LOL Good fir you doing the CPR training. Think I should check with my local FD to see if they have refresher courses, I need to refresh as it's been over 10 yrs since I was certified.
JCS - I'm highly allergic to bees….I'd be freaking out if I found them inside my house. Hope the cutout works.
Lowee - I jes LOVE the post of the flowers and birds outside the window. VERY nice. I have to do Labs tomorrow, then Tues (30th) back to LV for 3 CAT scans. I then will stay with DD as I'm flying to Portland OR on Thursday. Wont be back to LV until Mother's Day. Both my kids will be in town and one will pick me up from Airport. Then will stay w/DD as I have chemo and MO appt on Tues. DH will meet me at the MO's and hang around til I'm done.
Sandy - WOW thanks for all the info on the CBD/THC. Good to know.
Jazzy - Claret cup very pretty. Thanks for sharing.
Cami - I am as aghast as Lowee about the snow in your world. Love the pic of the kitty sparkling in the snow. Praying that you are feeling better. We jes hate to hear u've been in the hosp.

Hi all, sounds like a lot of you have been busy! Cami, I hope you are feeling better. Goldie, is your daughter recovering well?
I need a favor. I know several of you kindly recommended CBD oil already. However, I didn't write them down and when I went to A maz on I couldn't remember. Also, they're expensive so I want to get a tried and true brand. Thanks!

Hi everyone- been a busy girl but the new contract at the old client site is going well. First two weeks of settling in have gone better than expected. The place has it's well known challenges, but the management in the area I am working for seems good right now. And as my gig is through year end, right now is all I need to focus on!
Been super busy around the house with the yard, spring cleaning, getting rid of some more clothing to consignment and donations. The back yard is looking pretty good, front yard too. More pics coming soon!
Cami- why did you end up in the ER? Are you okay friend?
Goldie- yes, how is your DD doing with her recovery?
Mema- how are you feeling friend? I hear you on the "hot soon" and it has already been pretty warm here end of April. I always think May is a lovely month but it may be warming up here quickly. June is always the hottest month here, or at least it feels like it.
NM- yes the blueberry shrub tastes like blueberries. Of course you love them, being from Maine and all. It is made with blueberry vodka which I have never seen in the store. I cannot find a good recipe to make it from anything on line but will ask them next time I am there what the recipe is.
For all of you still dealing with snow, May is around the corner now. But this.....

Cami, hope you're OK. Next time you visit the ER, you should ask how many more frequent flyer miles you'd need for an upgrade.
It snowed sloppy slush for 12 hours yesterday. Didn't really start sticking on the N. lakefront till about 9pm, when I was about to leave from my gig at Wishbone. But it all melted away, and here in the city it didn't get cold enough to freeze.
Speaking of the gig, we were given the chance to reschedule, but we decided to press ahead. I learned my lesson twice. Once, I was about to leave for Madison for an outdoor concert opening a brand new state park, when a weather bulletin came on about hail, high winds, flash flooding and possible tornadoes not only along my route but in & around Madison. The advice given was to stay off the roads. I had visions of out PA system getting wet or struck by lightning and I called my singing partner up there. He agreed it was just too dangerous, and then called me back to say the organizers decided to postpone the concert for the next day, but indoors in the park's machine shed. When I got there the next morning (zigging & zagging to avoid flooded areas), I found out that a couple of people actually came out in the storm the night before and were royally ticked off. (We comped them for our next shows). Another time it was -10F with a foot of snow on the ground. I was asked to play a comedy music show a couple of neighborhoods south of me. I didn't get a call or e-mail that the show was canceled, so I went. We had an audience of exactly one...who had driven up from Indiana. I'm still haunted by how I'd have felt had I backed out.
Well, it wasn't looking good till about half an hour after setup & soundcheck...and then people began trickling in. We had about 13 people in the audience, 13 more than the owner had expected. We'll be rehired--if we could draw 13 people in a snowstorm, we can definitely draw 20 or more in decent weather. And we were sent home with hot dinners!
My DOTD was a Provençal rosé when I got home.
My recommended CBD brands, all available online, are Receptra Naturals, Select CBD, Green Roads, Sopris (which makes gelcaps), Mary's Nutritionals, Charlotte's Web and HempBombs. I know Receptra offers a free "membership" with a discount; the others might also. HelloMD.com has links to all of them, some of which offer discounts as well. Leafly.com is an excellent educational site.
But you get what you pay for--the cheapest off-brands use generic "white label" CBD oils (from Chinese-grown hemp) which are sold, bottled and relabeled by companies.

Good Morning,Loungettes!Happy Monday Monkey day!Another bright sunshiny morning to get up to today, but chilly. I'll take the chilly, I know the sun will warm it up soon enough. And rain coming in for the rest of the week. Ah well, Sadie is getting a great mud season.
Librarian--I bet the flowers in front of the wrought iron railing look fabulous!
Mema--You'll notice that CPR has changed a lot since the last time you were certified! They change things up every couple of years. Classes can be a lot of fun, though.
Muddling--busy is good, right?
Teka--that's one big toad!
Jazzy--glad the new contract is starting out well. I'll look for some recipes for the blueberry shrub, too. I tasted one brand of blueberry flavored vodka, it did NOT taste like blueberries! Prolly cuz it was cheap stuff.April truly has failed us this year, hasn't it?
Chi--wow, talk about weather stories! You've been through them all!
Blueberry Martini
Recipe
Ingredients (serves 2):
1/2 ripe lemon
1/4 cup blueberries (about 15 berries, can be fresh or frozen)
1 1/2 ounce Hangar 1 Maine Wild Blueberry vodka
1 1/2 ounce vodka
1 1/2 ounce Cointreau
2 ounces premium lemonade
Ice
Directions:
- Add the blueberries to the glass side of a Boston-style cocktail shaker
, squeeze in the juice of the lemon half, and muddle until berries are well crushed.
- Fill metal side of shaker with ice and pour in the lemon/blueberry mixture.
- Add vodka, Cointreau, and lemonade.
- Join shaker halves and shake briskly for 15-20 seconds.
- Strain into chilled martini glasses.
- Garnish with skewered blueberries.
Bartender's Hint: If you ever come across Hangar 1's Maine Wild Blueberry vodka, stock up! It can be difficult to find. If it's not available, adjust the recipe to use 3 ounces "regular" vodka, throw in a few more blueberries, and reduce the lemonade slightly. If you do find the blueberry vodka, you may be tempted to use a full 3 ounces; for our tastes, using a 50-50 blend with plain unflavored vodka results in a smoother blueberry martini.
I'm thinking I need to look for Hangar 1 vodka!

NM, so will you be doing the orientation for new nurses? Thus teaching them the computer system? Please remind me of your position and what it consists of. Have you heard anything about "that other place"! Oh no, more rain and more mud. You must feel sometimes like it will never dry up. That Blueberry Martini looks very refreshing.
JCS, still no picture! Do you have it saved on your computer? Or maybe you are using your phone or a tablet?
Sue, good luck on those girl and have fun on your trip. Was going to ask if you might be in LV next week, but I guess that's a no! We have trade show to do, I'll be there next Monday.
Mud, my daughter is doing well, however yesterday she was looking for friends, via FB, that wanted to go bowling. I said I don't think that would be too smart, to early for that. It's only been 4 weeks. Then reminded her of the excruciating pain she had from the internal bleeding and asked if she wanted that again. Lots of her friends chimed in as well, telling her NO. So she opted for shooting some pool.
Teka, hope you and DH recover soon. That toad looks like a rock!
Jazzy, see my post to Mud re my daughter. Can't wait to see more pics of your gardens. You do such a nice job. Also glad the new gig is going well.
Sandy, an audience of 13, kind of funny, but I guess expected in a storm. And then an audience of 1, AND they drove from IN! They must have really wanted to see your show!
Bad weather in the spring is not good for our business. More gardening yesterday and put in some of the irrigation, still more to do. Had labs done last Friday, but have not looked at results, as my markers are always going up. See my onc on Thursday, I predict a change in treatment, most likely Ibrance, which I am afraid of! See too many who have their blood counts go low, then can't do the treatment and sometimes even end up in the hospital for trasfusions.

Mornin' ladies,
Well we had about 6 ins. of snow then melted and now thunderstorms all in 48 hrs. No sun yet.
SuzyQ u r one busy woman, I have no clue how u do it but I'm so glad u can. I just pray all this chemo does exactly what it should and knowing u it will.
Teka that looked like a big ole' bullfrog to me. Sorry about ur colds, I hate colds so just take stuff and REST.
JC I'm horrible at doing pics, I can only do them from google, cuz I don't even know how to take one with my phone.
Oh I always loved the steroid high, lasted about 2 days and then it was the longest days I worked and I was better than ever, of course the rest of the week I was useless. LOL
Kim Ur getting the sunny days finally. Quite a few peeps showed up for the classes which is great but I know u are the best, for sure.
Jazzy u sound good and happy with ur job this time. And I think u said til the end of the yr. That's really great. And doing yardwork too. Jeez.
All of u who garden I give u credit even if nothing was wrong. That's a hard job and u have to do it to keep things looking good.
Lori I pray ur DD is doing well and following instructions.
Sandy u've weathered a lot when u go to perform, u are one of those the show must go on and u live it. It's so nice u and Jazzy have this talent that lasts a lifetime but I know u both worked very hard for it.
Oh my ER story is as goofy as usual. I'l try to make it short. I missed an app't , my dr. went on vacay and she's the only one that can give me a script cuz my contract is with her only. I had no pain meds pain getting worse but of course my diarrhea came like a thunderstorm <wickedly> Totally dehydrated my pot was way off. After they took some tests, hooked me with fluids and morphine flowing well into my body and a pills right away. I think I'm a legal junkie now. Sent Leslie home she wasn't feeling great called her when they released me. OK I'm leaving out the accident my ambulance was involved in, the next day Dan got all involved in a whole thing with my meds, but took care of everything and cuz I hadn't eaten brought me nature bars one bluberry and something with raisons 2 things I hate. And leaving out my story of how I told my ER Dr. he was sexy and I would go for him if I looked good and 10 yrs younger, hey he held my hand that was a rush for me. And of course the barrage of things to the paramedics mey they knew me so it was easy. Les was glad to go home cuz all she does is put her head down and just nods right to left cuz of my mouth. When I did start answering the phone I could have sworn the ear piece told me Bob <we always talk a lot> and I said What the Ef do u want now, and I heard in a sheepish voice a plumber, Oy vey I had to double talk that one but we got the job so no harm. Now that was my short version.
See now I've bored u enough to take a nap, well I bored myself too.

OOOOOO I'm all wet, Lori pushed me right in our pewl. LORI BOWLING??? She for one second considered it??? I told u she's like her mom. Wow good thing she didn't go, oh is she like u.
Please let us know exactly word for word what ur Dr. says, u know I have to hear it that way. <<<PRAYERS>>>

Cami, I wanted to beat her butt! So glad her friends chimed in and agreed with me! Anyways, the water is warm and we have our lifeguard to keep an eye on us, to make sure we don't drown!

Speaking of Vegas, DH and will be there tomorrow through Thursday morning. I’m crossing Gordon Ramsay’s Beef Wellington from Hell’s Kitchen off my bucket list.
There should be some pretty cocktails too!
0 -
Well poop, gonna miss Sue and Illimae! And just by a few days
0 -
Ilona, the restaurants in Vegas are getting better & better. Have fun and bon appetit!
Lori, 13 people showing up was pretty good, considering the venue owner didn't think anyone would come out in the snowstorm. We've been invited back.
Cami, your ambulance was in an accident with you in it? Oy! Thought stuff like that only happens on Chicago Fire!
DOTD, with pizza--more of that dry rosé.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Twofer Tuesday! Mother Nature is back to gray and gloomy, but at least the sun is coming up early enough that I'm not getting up in the dark. Sadie seemed to want to sleep in a bit this ayem, but she was very busy yesterday playing in the mud and supervising theneighborhood. Now if it would just warm up a bit more, 40's and 50's is just a bit chilly for my taste.20's predicted for tonight. They've skipped over frost warnings and gone straight to saying things may freeze over. Sigh.
OK, I am shaking my head. The news is reporting on a dump truck crash yesterday ayem. The dump truck swerved to avoid hitting cars stopped for a crosswalk and drove in the side of a house. How fast was that guy going in that 25 mph zone to have to swerve intohouse to avoid stopped cars on a straight stretch of road in the middle of a town???????
Morning, Cammy Cat!
Goldie--I will be more involved with the orientation of new nurses, but not doing all of it. The Human Resources Director has a very nice system set up that gets all new folks through all the mandatory educationand paperwork things before they start working with the residents, then they spend a week or so working with a current nurse. Right now the new folks are learning the computer system as they go through that week, and it doesn't seem to be working very well. The Director of Nursing is looking into getting a Train the Trainer session for the facility so that 3 or 4 of us can be formally (and correctly) trained on the computer use, my goal is to have one of those people be doing the computer training going forward, and to have some amount of time dedicated to computer training. I still cannot believe that the facility was not given ONE printed user manual to have in the building for reference. Just crazy!Glad your daughter has friends that are looking out for her! Pool is a much better choice than bowling for her right now. Remind her that it takes as much as 3 months for cut muscles to heal completely, and limiting activity now will prevent a hernia and lots of trouble later, not to mention decreasing pain during healing. Praying the lab are good.
Cammy--6 inches of snow and then thunderstorms? What a wild weather ride that was! Holy schmoly what an episode! I guess that proves the diarrhea is controlled by the drugs, and the diarrhea causes all kinds of problems. And the ambulance was in an accident on the way in? No one hurt, I hope? So crazy is your life!
Ooh, nice Lifeguard! What's his name?Is there enough of him to go around or does he have helpers?
Ili--Wish I was sharing the Beef Wellington with you, always wanted to try that!Be sure to come back and leave a detailed review!
Chi--Pizza and rose, a great combo!

Cami and Sandy, I think you guys are now getting a ton of rain?
NM, glad Sadie is at least supervising the neighborhood! You must be loving your new job. I shared with my DD what you said. She said thank you. My TM's are up, just as I suspected, so probably change to a new treatment, which I really am not ready to do. I think we have enough for everyone?

Chisandy, this feels like a silly question to me, but, as a sleep aid, do you put cbd oil under your tongue and leave it there or swich it around and spit it out? Also, just a little in the dropper? I have Charlottes Web and one other bought a while ago at Botannica in Evanston, but forgot to ask. And does it actually help with sleep

I put the CBD oil under my tongue and wait 30-60 sec. before swallowing it, along with the inevitable extra saliva it helps release (anything I put in my mouth--even my Invisalign or dental floss--makes me salivate more). The reason to wait is to optimize absorption by the oral mucosa, which is thinnest under the tongue, and get into your bloodstream faster. Swallowing what remains does send it through the digestive system, where part of it gets broken down by enzymes & acids and passes through the liver en route to excretion. But it beats spitting it out. And it definitely helps me with sleep.
Sprinkling now, but soaking rains are due later today. My herb garden could use it.

Mornin' ladies,
Welcome Key and as far as I am concerned u have come to the right place for any questions u have, but come back and visit too.
Well Kim u are really going to town at work. U r so involved and I'm sure in ur very loving way. And as usual I just think of Sadie and I crack up.
Lori I'm sorry about ur counts. U have to start a whole new regime??? This is tough o u and I see why, U know all <<<prayers>>> I send for u. BTW u are the one who keeps us well saved by ur lifeguards, all good.
Illi ur going away again, well one thing I know we'll see some fun pics of drinks. Be safe and have a great time!!!
My brother is having a pacemaker put in at 5PM tonight. Oh would I hate to wait that long, he's already ikn the hospital then he's going to a rehab after. I know they don't wait to long now, so he'll be ther soon I guess. Sandy he's going to Marion Joy <Sandy knows where that is> LOL
Sandy everytime I've had to be taken by an ambulance it's always something goofy happens, that's why they all remember me. Even in the ER they've said it's either me or they're having a crzy night. I don't know why, I say it's them, they say it's me. Oh well.
OK my pho ne have been going and my niece will be here soon. so I'd better get ready for my shower.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Hump day, and Happy May Day! Getting up to sunshine again, hoping it will stay a while, pretty sure it won't.I'm looking at the sunlight and ignoring the frost. Yes, frost. And the weather people are talking about places with wind chills to 19 degrees this ayem. It was kind of funny to see Sadie disappear into a cloud of steam as she was peeing this ayem, though!
Goldie--oh, yum! That should be enough for everyone, at least most of the time! I'm calling dibs on the 3rd one from the right!I know it's hard for your DD to remember that she is still healing when she probably feels really well. She's lucky to have people looking out for her. Sorry to hear about the TMs.
Morning, Keywestfan!
Morning, Cammy Cat!
Morning, Chi!
Cammy--I had my first "Oh shit, what have I gotten myself into??" moment at work yesterday. I was writing down all the things I need to do in May, looked it over and it was a LONG list! Then I started getting things onto my calendar and realized it wasn't so bad after all. And I do love the work, and the feeling that I am actually making a difference and am appreciated. Sorry to hear about your brother needing a pacemaker, but glad he's going to rehab, that can be a big help.
