how about drinking?

Cami, I didn't want anyone to think I was less caring because I didn't react to Mary's post about the mets, reason being we spoke on the phone. That's all. Lost a post, did you try the "Ctrl" "Z" trick? If I do make it down there, I would just get a room at the same hotel I was at before, it was super close.
Jazzy, you sure got a lot going on girl! But you almost always do! Any new news on your SIL?
Besides NM working the extra long hours, I'm wondering if she is still have electrical issues?
BabyGirl, I have no words, this is just a horrible ordeal on top of a horrible ordeal! Gentle hugs.
Mary, thinking of you and all that you are trying to process at this time.
Be a long day today, Have to drive to Springerville, hour and 15 minutes to get my faslodex injection, then another hour over to Show Low for some errands, then another hour home! Didn't get to sleep until after 9:30 last night, which is late for me, and then I was up at 2 am. Stayed in bed until 3, hoping to go back to sleep, which didn't happen, so I just got up!
DOTD, what else?
The Gremlin!

- ½oz Chambord Black Raspberry Liqueur or Creme de Framboise
- ¾oz Midori Melon Liqueur
- 1¼oz Lemon Juice
- 1oz Simple Syrup
- ½oz Blavod Black Vodka
Fill the glass with ice, pour Chambord into the glass. Shake Midori, lemon juice and simple syrup with ice and strain over the ice. Float Blavod on top to create three layered effect.0 -
Goldie - SIL is still the same. Thanks for asking ❤️

just landed in Florida, no computer, only cell phone so posts will be limited. I made a friend on the plane, her name is Beth and she’s about my age. She is a 5 year lung cancer survivor, lives 2 miles from me and has a place on Sanibel, went back to Cleveland for oncology appointment so we had a lot to talk about. Exchanged numbers and promised to get together for a glass of wine. Go figure.....
I’ll.. you are in my prayers 🙏😘
Love you all

genny - How great to be in Florida & escaping the cold NE Ohio winter. Hoping your mets are contained and sending positive thoughts your way.
Illi - Healing thoughts & gentle hugs coming your way. It's great that you can see the silver lining of losing lbs. while recovering, but a heck of a way to do so.

Mornin ladies,
Oh how ironic, Mary this woman u met on the plane lives just 2 miles from you and so so much in common. What a way to start a plane trip. I'm sure u'll be in touch when ur home. Hoping u have a great time there out of this crazy winter.
Oh Lori I figured u called or something. Sometimes it's better to go one on one at the same time to get things straight, well for me it is. I can put things together much better. And if by chance u do come here please note u are more than welcome to sleep here, the bedroom is right next to Joey and he'd love it U know a while back Leslie took everything so very seriously and when she would talk to my D.r. they would say the usual about exposing germs to me so she got scared < really scared,> and was afraid of anyone coming here . She drove me nuts. And then when she got cancer she was even more scared, and my BFF slept by Jodies, so did I. She's so much better about all this now.. I didn't even want to say anything cu it was so stupid to me, she would get so upset. O.h she's still adamant about the cold going around here, but she is much more tolerant of all other things. We're at least able to talk to each other but no hugging at all. And Lysol all over the place.
OK now Kim is all right???, she's never been gone so long. But Jazy u seem like u know what's happening so that's good.
Illi this is really taking a lot out of u, does drinking from a straw help any, if it does start with some smoothies or things that at least taste good. This part has to be over soon <<<HUGS>>> to u Ill for a faster recovery, u've got to many adventure to get to yet.
Celia how are u doing, u didn't really say.
U know I can't keep track of who's on vacay or who;s not anymore. More than ever u all seem to be planning trips even for a few days. That's gotta feel good. Just knowing something new is happening.
My work has gotten so difficult for me since Bob is still not working, he's totally my go to guy for everything an makes what I do easier. 20 yrs ago my brain was as sharp as ever, now I feel a little lost and even simple things I can't think of or how to do things. I know it's not dementia or worse, it's just absent minded so I'm not worried, just frustrated. I remember when all this started and I told the Dr. I had chemo brain and she LOLed, that's how long ago. But after a while I did read up on it and at first it said about 5yrs. so OK, then they said it could be 20 yrs. they really didn't know, I guess it was something new then, but I'd rather believe that then anything else. so I'm sticking with that. With 1 and 1/2 yrs of chemo I believe it now.
Well they found a new case of that virus from the next town and she gave it to her DH. Both in the Hospital not far from here, now this stuff scares me, but I guess they found out it's human to human now. I don't think they knew that before.
It's TGIF already and planning another quiet one.The kids don't have as many people over as they used to, I really liked that. But Les is good sometimes but she can't count on it still. She still sees 3 Drs. a week so she really goes thru more than she complains about. And I do understand tho.
Well hope everyone is doing better and doing well this weekend
LUBS U ALL

Good morning friends- happy last day of the month and pre-Superbowl weekend. How did it get to be the end of January so quickly? This month has been really good for me to get some breathing room after two busy contracts and a crazy end of last year. Getting a lot caught up at home, and this week have things going in for fixes and upgrades. Got one laptop in for maintenance, another one will trade out when my back up is done. Second car in for some repair work too. Still finishing things at home (focus is back to the kitchen again) and now more firmly back in to some exercise routines. I started walking more again this week and now have my mix of yoga, swimming and walking going once again.
Cami- okay, so Bob is one of the guys you work with. I am sorry you don't have him as a resource right now. And these drugs we take really mess with our brains. I did those AIs for five years and found my mental acuity had really declined during that time, I am sharper off those drugs but it has also taken awhile for my body to adjust. I noticed changes the first six months, but even through last year. Am I what I used to be? Certainly not. But like all of us, we adjust to our new normal. And I have not seen NM on FB either, but hopefully she is just busy with her work and we will hear when she comes off her busy work week.
Genny- how nice you met a fellow cancer survivor on your plane trip. I think sometimes the right people are placed in our path to help us on our journey. A couple years ago, I went to a high school reunion and reconnected with a classmate who was always a nice guy. He wrote the nicest thing in my high school year book, which I had reviewed before I went and learned from him at the reunion he was dealing with Stage IV prostate cancer. Although I don't usually talk about my cancer with people, I did share my bc cancer story with him. We now keep in touch on Facebook, and yesterday we were trading messages on FB and checking in on each others health. I told him I am 7 years cancer free next month and he said he is doing okay, getting more scans in April to be sure he is stable. Probably one of the most authentic connections I had that reunion. I hope you and this woman can keep in touch.
Enjoy Florida! I have been wanting to get there this winter, but decided to postpone to later this spring.JCS- thinking you may be on your trip to Houston. Enjoy your time away.
Ill- check in to see if there is a bit more progress on your healing?
Goldie- you have some travel coming up too. My SIL is going to be in that rehab facility for the longer term. My sister retired about this time last year and agreed to stay on part time to fill in for people on vacation. She gave that up when her partner became ill last fall, but apparently has decided to go back to work PT on a PRN basis. In some ways, it is probably good for her as her friends are there and a good support system for her to talk about things. But of course, with her partner in long term care and the aging MIL in assisted living, there is lots to deal with there on a daily basis. I try to remain supportive from here and sending my SIL a nice birthday gift today- a fuzzy V-day blanket for her room/bed.
Celia C, Mistyeyes and Karen, how are things your way?
Okay friends, time to get to my day and wishing you all a good weekend and hope your team wins if you are in to football. I don't have a team per se, but in general, always root for the underdog in most any situation......

Good morning all! Best wishes for those recovering from treatments. Nothing about this disease is easy. This is my first Friday in over a year that I do not have to go get a chemo infusion or visit with the Oncologist. I wanted to take a hike, but the weather is lousy. Guess I will stay home and do NOTHING. LOL!!!! I do feel good and hope to continue to feel better as time goes on.
February will be a busy month. First, the Super Bowl. It is great to have some different teams playing and I enjoy watching the commercials. Second, I will host My “older” ladies for Bridge. On Feb 10, DH, DS and myself will go to the mountains. Plan to do some hiking and antique looking. Feb 18, I leave for Houston. Will make a road trip to Waco to visit my high school friend and check out all the changes to the Baylor campus. Will also head to McKinney, TX to visit my brother and family. Once back from that, we head to the beach.
This group has been very helpful and supportive during the past year. I am so grateful for that and all I have learned because of everyone. You all are the best!
Take care!0 -
Hi ladies 😁
More appointments today and next week to try to figure out the swallowing stuff. I am managing to get down an ensure/boost drink but since my airway isn’t closing completely, some settles and gurgles back up for me to cough/choke on. May need a scope to see if any damage is physical and not just nerve related. Small success today though as I was able to chew some cashews into a paste that went down ok. Still horse and I realized today that I’ve now forgotten the sound of my pre surgery voice, somehow this is particularly disturbing to me and a cause of much anxiety, along with the possibility of needing a temporary feeding tube 😬 Overall ok and still hanging in there.

Hello, all. Celia here with some updates. Thanks Jazzy & Cami for asking. Had annual mammo & BS appointment on Tues - All clear! Not sure if I mentioned here or on another topic, but I retired on 11/29/2019. Turned 65 in September, so it was time. Had a lovely December - DD came for a visit and really enjoyed the holidays for once. Always had to be at the office since the CFO & VP Finance always took off for the holidays & I was the only other person with Board approval authority. Since the new year, have been working on exercise. Silver Sneakers in my area has a lot on offer, plus you can join gyms for free & the local cancer support center also offers things I can now take advantage of since no longer working. Enjoying Line Dancing (remember the Electric Slide?), Zumba Gold (scaled back version of Zumba), Dance Fitness, Tai Chi, Pilates, Yoga, along with weights & machines at the gym. Enjoying the ability to have my "spiked" (Baileys or Chambord) coffee anytime I want, instead of just on the weekends!
JCS - We are thinking about the beach as well. We usually go to Isle of Palms, SC around mid-May. Thinking we might try something different this year, but IOP is hard to beat, plus I have two cousins we always visit.
Healing thoughts to all in need.

Ilona, hoping tiny sips at intervals will help. Highest-protein version of Ensure or Boost is a good idea (Jevity has the most protein but tastes ultra-"meh," verging on "feh"). For hoarseness, I've found Singer's Saving Grace Spray to be a Godsend--especially after having been intubated during procedures. It has Jack-in-the-Pulpit extract, which my voice teacher and vocal ENT say helps reduce laryngeal edema (vocal cord swelling, the consequence of both throat infections and intubation/extubation injury). Make sure to get the honey-lemon or Professional Strength versions, as they are alcohol-free (alcohol is drying and can irritate a sore throat).
Cami & Lori, please do let me know if you're getting together. I'm only a short-ish drive (commuter distance) from Cami, so maybe we could have a drink or two (I'll buy or bring).
Jazzy, my Outback is a 2014, bought in May 2014 as a lease return with 4000 miles on it (the owner had been transferred suddenly to Europe). I have about 36,000 on it now. The only work it's needed were new tires and the airbag-inflator recall. I bring it in on schedule for its "well-baby checkups," regular maintenance and free washes. (Hmmm...baby needs a bath tomorrow).
Gotta wait another month to find out wazzup with the effing pulsatile tinnitus. NorthShore ENT insisted I see the audiologist first, which I did today. She was able to rule out ear infections & Meniere's Syndrome. R ear high-frequency acuity was above average for my age, L was "age-appropriate" mild-to-moderate high-frequency loss (partly due to constant ringing from garden-variety tinnitus, which has been lifelong); but not warranting a hearing aid just yet. Speech recognition (masked & unmasked) was near perfect. (Only word I flunked was "mess:" I thought she was saying "meth"). So I have to see the ENT for further investigation--but the first appt. I could get is Feb. 26. The audiologist suggested if I need an interim answer I could ask my primary to order a carotid Doppler (ultrasound). I replied I had one two years ago from LifeLine Screening and it was normal. But 2 yrs. ago I didn't have pulsatile tinnitus. (I've begun worrying about cognitive impairment, as I couldn't recall the name "LifeLine" until I was back in the car afterward).
Ah, back to drinking. Wed. night was the "greatest hits" wine-pairing dinner at B'way Cellars--we sat with another couple from temple. We (except for Bob) traded cancer stories (she had thyroid 20 yrs ago, he has had every skin cancer in the book, including three melanomas). Anyway, here are the wines: for the schmooze reception, Ch. Virgile Rosé from Nîmes (from whence comes the word "denim," for cloth made there) near Provence. With the seafood app, Domaine Collin Crémant de Limoux (a bubbly from the Languedoc in SW France, between the Provence & greater Bordeaux regions). With the salad, Cave de Truckheim bone-dry Alsatian Riesling; with duck breast, Fess Parker Santa Rita Pinot Noir; with short ribs, Dona Maria Tinta from Portugal (it also had some Cabernets Franc & Sauvignon). The wine-poached pear dessert was matched with Mettler Petite Sirah (Lodi area--which back in the '60s-70s was the laughingstock of the CA wine world, anchored by Gallo; nobody's laughing now).
No DsOTD last night or tonight--we were gonna open a bottle of Graham Beck Brut Rosé to celebrate Bob's Epic training certification and my return to the temple choir tonight; but the events of the day (the apolitical bummer was the stock market "correction") put the kibosh on that. So I've been drinking almond-milk cappuccinos and water.

Good morning everyone, typing from my phone but I’ll do my best. Feeling good, had a really nice day yesterday. Molly and I went golfing, it was fun, forgot how much I like it (not a lot of golfing in Ohio right now). Anyway, it was in the 70’s, they paired us up with another couple, a retired physician and his retired nurse wife. Molly just retired after 45 years of nursing so we all had a lot to talk about. Then we went to a restaurant overlooking the ocean, food was marginal but atmosphere made up for it. Today we are driving to Punta Gorda to meet my brother and his wife for lunch, it halfway between us and them, they live in Bradenton. Tonight there’s a guy playing 60’s music here at the RV Park so we’ll go check him out. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice, sign up and we can go sit by the pool, and we may try golfing one more time. Then home on Tuesday. I’ll be having my CT scans on Friday to see if the rat bastard has found its way into my organs and the following Monday they’ll get a biopsy from my spine. I’m probably going to work on finding my replacement at work and collect disability and officially retire. It’s all sinking in now and I’m doing ok. Missing my girls, haven’t seen them in weeks so I’m getting right on that as soon as I get time. I ended up having long talks with my brothers, son, niece and SIL with the help of copious amounts at wine and the cat is outta the bag so to speak and everyone knows what’s going on.
Ill, ugh I’m so sorry to here what you’re going through, I pray you can get some relief soon.
Kim, sending out an SOS!! Where are you?
Sandy, I’ve had terrible tinnitus for years, got hearing aids last year but I mostly just wear them to bed for the Bluetooth, they’re more comfortable than regular earbuds and I have to have distraction noise when I sleep. I downloaded all kinds of stuff from waves to birds to hypnosis and it works well. They’re ok during the day when I remember to put them in but I can’t wear them in noisy places, I get an echo. Got mine at Costco, $1500 compared to $6000 at the hearing aid place I went to first. I have lost my high frequency hearing but just normal for my age. And I lose words all the time, they always come around. As I’ve said before, I think of my brain as a big Rolodex and when you’re young you don’t have many cards so you find the correct one right away, now our brains are so littered up with those damn useless cards that it takes forever to find the right one.
Celia, so glad you are enjoying your retirement, sounds like you earned it. I went to Isle of Palms about 40 years ago and have always wanted to go back, may have to put that on my bucket list.
I’m doing this with my thumb and it needs a break so I’m going to hit submit before I do something stupid and lose this, I’ll be back in a little while

good morning Loungettes! Back to play catch-up. It’s been a busy few days. However I now have a new garage door opener, and a tightened up and lubricated up garage door. Oh yes, and a working remote! It’s the little luxuries like this that I miss especially in the cold weather. Today’s focus since it’s warmer here is going to be getting all of the collected junk and garbage out of the basement and into the dumpster.
Genny— It must be really nice to belong to a bowling club where nobody takes the bowling super seriously. I like to bowl, I’m not that great at it, and the couple times I tried league bowling it just got way too intense. Praying that the back stuff is just arthritis, hoping to see that you found out more by the time I get to the end of the catch-up today. The electrical stuff is being quite a process, I’m still waiting on the electrician. The new company, it’s a local company, did come out on time. And it did end up costing me more than with the other company. It seems the opener that I was going to have moved over to the side that I use was an equally bad a shape as the one that just died so I went ahead and had it replaced instead. The garage door probably should be replaced but the guy did some work on it and said I should be able to get another year or two out of it safely but not to push it much past that so that’s now on my list of things that needs to be done. And yes 12 hour shifts are definitely difficult when I get through with the batch that I’ve just volunteered for going to have to go back to helping out where I can with eight hour shifts.
Jazzy— Having a home project ahead of schedule is very nice! I never thought about asking Asking people who are doing work in the house for recommendations for other contractors. Definitely keep that in mind. I’d like to use local, independent people when I can. I think buying yourself a nice unique watch to commemorate paying off the mortgage is a great idea
Illi— Glad to hear you’re up and about, I’m feeling pretty good. I can understand the frustration of not being able to eat or communicate well. Hang in and check in when you feel up to it.
Cammy Cat—So sorry to hear about Bob being in the hospital with blood pressure problems! I’ve got plenty of weight I’d be glad to transfer to you if I could! Good for you for leaving your doctor to worry about it though.
Goldie— No problems with stinky butts this time around. Same company that I used before, but a different workmen. I can imagine there are lots of typos in these entries that I’m doing by dictation, since I’m not really going back and carefully re-reading them. It’s a convenient process but it really does show up the battery on the phone! LOL at DH not wanting to take the cooler with the wheels and handle!
Jazzy— Love the how to get there’s!
Genny—well, not the scan Report we were hoping for. I am encouraged by the use of the word small though. I don’t blame you for taking your time letting people know, and giving yourself time to get used to the idea first. And that way too you can let people know what’s going on and what’s going to be done all at once.
Cammy Cat— It can take a while to work up somebody with blood pressure issues. There’s a whole bunch of things that need to be ruled out, and then some trial and error as to what medications are going to be most helpful. I’m keeping Bob in my thoughts and prayers, hope he gets answers quickly.
Jazzy— Glad to hear you’ve got an interview for work you put in for! Wishing you all the luck in the world.
Good morning, Minus Two!
Chi— Happy birthday! Sounds like you had quite the Good time! Glad you missed out on the bad weather. Sounds like the choir is a tad on the small side, but those can be really nice and a lot of fun
Goldie— It is pretty inconvenient still having this circuit out. One of my projects for this weekend is to pick up a heavy duty electric extension cord and figure out a way to reroute some power to the desktop computer. Somethings are very difficult to do on the phone or tablet and much easier to do on the desktop computer! That perfect nap sounds wonderful. I love things with lavender in them.
Genny— Glad to hear your DH is up-to-date. It can be surprising what we think people know that they don’t. Sometimes I wonder if people know that breast cancer is curable but simply don’t want to think about it that way.
Cammy Cat—Such a cute kitty pilot!
Jazzy—Sadie is keeping me very much in line! When I get home after a long day I have to do the greeting thing, then go through the cold shoulder thing, then the extra belly rubs and ear tickles and general cuddles at bedtime. Not to mention that she dumps over every trashcan and every box that she can find when I’m away on a long shift. Another good reason to not do 12 hour shifts! Love that picture of a decision that was made with the milk on the wine counter.
Illie— I’m sorry to hear that the swallowing and talking thing isn’t progressing more quickly. It must be so incredibly frustrating. I’m still praying for a quicker recovery for you.
Goldie— Love the gremlin cocktail! Chambord is one of my favorite liquors.
Genny— It’s amazing where we meet new people and find new friends
Good morning. Celia!
Cammy Cat— I’m all right, it’s just very inconvenient getting online without having a desktop computer available right now. Working on getting that fixed or at least a workaround set up. Also looking for one of my portable keyboards so I can do it all on the Kindle. Should’ve been doing more decluttering all along, then I know where that blasted keyboard Is! That new virus is sounding scarier all the time isn’t it? It sounds like everything that’s possible’s been done though with the town and Chyna essentially put on quarantine and everybody on the alert for it now. Les must be getting really tired of seeing three doctors a week.
Librarian— January certainly seems to of disappeared in a hurry. It’s hard to believe it’s time to flip the calendar over already! Sounds like you have quite the month planned ahead. Hope it all goes well and you have a great time!
Illie— I can’t imagine how frustrating and upsetting this whole talking swallowing thing must be for you. I hope they find answers very quickly.
Celia— Congrats on the retirement! Good for you for working on the exercise too.
Ok, down to 10% battery so need to get this sent so I can recharge. Have a great weekend everyone!

Mary, I sure hope you are able to enjoy yourself in FL with your Molly girl! Oh good, you pooped in and you ARE having a nice time. Lots going on when you get home though. Oh how I remember letting that cat out of the bag. It's a hard effing thing to do, and of course me being the cry baby I am, I would start bawling as soon as I opened my mouth to tell anyone, except my mom, she never knew. But, all in all, considering, you are doing well. It does take a bit for it to "sink in". I was sobbing so bad when they did my biopsy, practically an anxiety attack, that they had to give me more of whatever it is they give you to calm you down, but you don't sleep.
Cami, glad to hear that Les is coping better these days and nothing too wrong about being extra cautious will colds and such. 3 doctors a week, good lord. What on earth for?
Jazzy, nice that you reconnected with the guy at your reunion, but I'm sorry for the reason. I think perhaps going back to work, even if PT, is a good thing. And how sweet of you to send your SIL a gift.
JCS, I hope you had a very productive do nothing day! Busy February for you, but all good things! The gals on this thread are my rocks. I just could never leave, it would be like walking out on your besties!
BabyGirl, you are sure having a time of it. I had something similar happen to me, with stuff getting stuck in the throat. Had all kinds of proceedures done, but never got a definative answer. It ended up resolving itself. No idea what caused it, or caused it to go away. Sometimes I would be trying to thow up, and I would get big slimy bubbles. I liked drinking the "Vega Sport" protien drinks as opposed to the Ensure, or Boost, due to ingredients.
Celia, congrats on the retirement and now being able to enjoy and do more, for yourself, with family and with friends. My gosh, sounds like you are filling all your time with some sort of exercise or another!
Sandy, will let you know for sure if I head that way. It's about a 6 hour drive. Sounds like you had a nice time for the "schmooze reception".
I figured if I refreshed, I would see our lovely NM and WALLA, there she is!
NM, yay for getting the garage door done, bummer on the electrician tho. Time for more decluttering, eh? I had to laugh and rethink your comment "stinky butts". But I know now, cig. butts. The talk to text can bring some funny comments. I think I would just leave them, even if I did see them. DH can be a bit bull headed at times, re the cooler. But like I said, I didn't feel bad for him, it was all because he didn't want her to have it, and he doesn't like anyone in that family except for one sister and she lives in CA. I have several lavender plants, I should look up some things to do or make with it. They are pretty old plants, but I think still ok to work with. Good luck on finding that blasted keyboard! Good to have you back and you did an amazing job at ketching up! Is this coming week going to be the same?
Hey Chrissy, since I know you are lurking out there, I got my Faslodex shot at my primary's office, explained to the gal how my behind hurt so bad, and perhaps why, so asked her to administer higher up, she did and no sore behind this time!
Busy day in town yesterday, but got lots done. Today I'm make BBQ ribs with my own homemade bbq sauce, baked potatoes on the grill too and some shrimp cocktail and some garlic bread. Not sure if I will do a vegetable or not.
Happy SaTURDay to all of my lounge lizards!

DOTD: Lavender Coconut Vodka Sour

How to make a lavender coconut vodka sour
Once you've made the lavender simple syrup, this cocktail comes together in less than 5 minutes. Anyone can make a Violet Eyes cocktail, but it definitely helps if you have a cocktail shaker on hand. To make a Violet Eyes, you must:
Make the simple syrup — Simple syrup is equal parts water and sugar that's been simmered until the sugar dissolves. I added a few tablespoons of dried lavender to the simple syrup to give it a punch of floral flavor.
Assemble the cocktail — Add the simple syrup, Absolut Elyx, lemon juice, coconut water, and egg white into a cocktail shaker and shake until frothy. I topped my vodka sour with edible flowers and dried lavender to make it even prettier.

hi again, spent the day in Punta Gorda, visited with my brother and sil, got gifts for both girls and now headed home.
Kim, so happy to see you back, was getting worried! I do like my bowling league and the one my DHand I are on once a month makes me look like an ok bowler! My golf league is the same way, only keep score if you want to. I say stick with 8 hour shifts, at least then you can be worth a darn the next day .
Cami, I'd like to think that virus will be contained but it is kinda scary, problem is from what I hear is that you can be contagious for several days before symptoms. In the grand scheme of things tho the flu is more of a health risk than that.
Lori, so far I'm ok, we'll see when Friday comes and I have the CT's and the biopsy doesn't scare me because in my head I'm so sure what it'll show. Now if it's something other than my original cancer that would be a different story. Enjoy your ribs!
JCS, enjoy your trip! And the super bowl!
Jazzy, it was nice making a fried on the plane, she's in Florida for the winter but I'll try and call her next summer for a get together.
Teka and anyone else I missed today, hope you're having a peaceful, happy Saturday!
Love to all

Thanks for all the love ladies 🙂 Feeling better today and looking forward to appointments next week. Monday with MO, no scans beforehand, so it should be a more relaxed follow up. Neurosurgeon Tuesday to discuss brain tumor pathology, sutures removal and next steps. Followed by throat scope and neuro RO as well. I’m ready to get back to normal now. Not sure if i posted this but the scar is pretty intense. Hope the weekend finds you all well 😁

Oh Illimae - that is a big part incision & my heart goes out to you 🙏❤️

Sprung!!!! Hi girls! Yes I lurk......lol......it's nice to catch up with the girls that have been here seemingly forever and watch as new gals join. I rarely comment these days but I do love to read.
Yay Lori!!! Glad the higher up is better for you and no more sore hine!!
I'm still here, still soldiering on. My Mets are, as far as we know, still only bone but they are extensive. I'm having a PET scan tomorrow so we shall see all.
Love n hugs, Chrissy

Hmmm....Cami, I seem to recall you saying that you're in DuPage County, around Lombard or Villa Park? If so, then the only way it could be a 6 hr drive from Edgewater (north Chicago lakefront) is going 5 mph. Maybe if I roller-skated or hoverboarded on surface streets instead of the expressways it could take that long. Where Jackie (IllinoisLady) lives is 6 hrs. from me, southwest down I-57, or Cleveland (where Genny/Mary lives). I've done both those drives many times.
Ai-yeeeee, Ilona--quite the "zipper" you're sporting, Baby Girl! But on the bright side, looks like you're au courant, rockin' that "fade."
No DOTD today--but we're going to a local restaurant's "friends & family" Super Bowl party tomorrow. There will be lots of wine, beer, soda, Bloody Marys, etc., plus the usual wings, brats, hot dogs, chili, Italian beef sandwiches (Cami knows what those are, unique to Chicagoland), munchies, cookies, candy, brownies, even "Frito pies." Will take a carb blocker just in case.

Oh chit, this is the 2nd post I just lost. WTF am I doing I was almost finished on the first and 1/2 way thru the next. And believe me I wrote to everyone. I'm so mad right now. I can't remember much and everything is on the last page.
I'm blaming Illi as soon as I saw the pic. I got an instant headache. <<<HUGS>>>
My print is so small and I can't change it, I'll be back when Joey gets up.

Mary, I too knew what my biopsy was going to show, maybe that's why I was upset, idk. For some reason I didn't think you were going home until Tuesday.
Oh my BabyGirl, that is one hella scar.
Lil Miss Lurker, wishing you all the best on those scans, please pop in and let us know when you get results. I didn't realize you have been stage IV for 16 years! That means I have a long ways to go!
Sandy, it was me that said it's a 6 hour drive to Cami's, I don't recall her saying anything about time.
Cami, Ctrl and Z, should bring your post back!
Got some new people out here, so meeting at the neighbors for a meet and greet.

good morning!
Lori, when I said I was going home I meant back to the camper, you were right, I'm going “home" on Tuesday. I'm prepared for the biopsy to be same as original, anything else would be scarier to me. The “zipper" was a perfect drink choice for baby girl and dive I dropped out for awhile where'd that nickname come from?
Ill, that is quite a zipper! I'm hoping you'll soon be back to your life. That's a tough diet plan you've been on, hope your throat is starting to feel better. If I may ask, how old are you? Do you have a significant other? You were just starting on this thread when I left so I don't know much about you. Anyway feel better friend 😘
Cami, ugh!!!damn gremlin! See you soon.
Sandy, have fun at the SuperBowl party!
Chrissy, you give me a lot of hope as a newly dc stage lV girl. Good luck with your scans!
We went to the clubhouse here at the campground last night, they had a guy singing all 60's. It was pretty much to a karaoke machine but he had a good voice and it was lots of fun. The thing is down here is that everyone is at least as old as me! You can get up and dance without feeling self conscious! We're all a bunch of old fools up there shaking our rather considerable stuff! Today we are going to an art show in downtown Fort Myers. Chilly here only 49 this morning, I went to Walmart and bought a pair of jeans last night, but the sun is shining and compared to Ohio it's gorgeous!Jazzy, Kim and everyone else, have a good Sunday!

I remember when the KC Chiefs played in their last Super Bowl 50 years ago! My Dad bought our first color TV, a small portable, that I later took to college. We lived in Overland Park, Kansas then and we were very proud of our Chiefs. Can you tell which team I am pulling for today?
Illimae, that is one helluva zipper! You wear it with style. Sorry about the not so good scans for some. This disease is an SOB that takes vacations, but comes back at will. I could not survive without the support I have found in this group.
So glad the groundhog saw his shadow! The sun has finally come out here, but now it is cold. BRR!!

Well, Bob just came back from Whole Foods with a bag of "Darling" Clementines--so you know for whom we're rooting ("...lived a miner, Forty-Niner, and his daughter..."). He's wearing his customary Sunday uniform: Bears jersey (Tillman, who's no longer a Bear) & Levis. Not sure if I'll wear my Advocate Health Systems "Real Bears Fans Wear Pink 2019" jersey--it's now 2 sizes too big! Vanity may will out--size M long sleeve red tee, jeggings, the cute bronze faux-down puffer jacket (size S!) I got for $13 at Tar-zhay (closeout rack).
Yesterday, after getting my mani fixed (the "no-wipe" gel topcoat rippled and pitted in a matter of just 2 days), I went to Nordstrom Rack and picked up a white shirt & silk blouse (both size M)--our choir uni is white top, black pants; but the only white top I had that wasn't a cotton T-shirt was a size XL button-down that Gordy wore under his high school graduation tux (ca. 2003) and left behind when he moved out in 2018. Had to fold back the cuffs, and the shoulder seams are a couple of inches too low; there was so much starch I could barely open the buttonholes and it's started to faintly yellow in the collar & placket. The new button-down shirt (has hidden black trim) is a tuck-in, the blouse has a high-low hem and can be worn as a tunic over slim pants or tucked into my stovepipe Chico's Travelers "No Tummy" knit pants. (Most of my wardrobe now--except blazers or moto/scuba style jackets--can be rolled up for packing w/o wrinkles). Also got a pair of tall brown zip-up waterproof leather Sorel boots (for when UGGs are too shlumpy)--the size 7.5 was much comfier than the thinner leather size 8 Franco Sarto knee-highs, which admittedly looked much sharper but hurt my L bunion when I walked. Also picked up a pair of UGG shearling clogs as slippers--the Orthofeet mules were getting icky (grease spots wouldn't come out, the shearling insoles were so matted that the wire brush didn't work on them and they made me shuffle when I walked--another "shoe malfunction" fall waiting to happen).
In the low 50s today--nice walking weather! (Sneakers, no boots necessary). Snow flurries coming overnight, though. Punxatawney Phil predicted an early spring; but in the NW 'burbs "Woodstock Willie" (the groundhog in Woodstock, IL, which town "played" Punxatawney, PA in the film Groundhog Day) saw his shadow and predicted six more weeks of winter. But if it's the kind of winter we've been having, I'll take it. (PETA wants "prognosticator" groundhogs replaced by animatronic artificial-intelligence ones so that real groundhogs can stay in the wild undisturbed. But they also don't believe in keeping pets--and its president even is against trap-spay/neuter-release for ferals. Oy).

Happy Superbowl Sunday and Groundhog Day- just catching up here after a busy week and before another begins. The groundhog says we can expect an early spring this year. Our winter here has not been particularly bad, we had that big snow storm during Thanksgiving and a few since but it has been very mild in January for the most part. Supposed to get some snow this week though. We are firmly in the middle of winter, but have noticed the days getting longer and it is not dark here now until around 5:45 p.m. In five more weeks, it is daylight savings time again where we "spring forward" and then are tired for two weeks. I always look forward to more evening light as we come into the spring, but not the adjustment to the time change.....

And it's superbowl sunday too (otherwise known as yummy snacks sunday to me). I was at the store yesterday after my yoga class, and it was a mob scene like you see during a major holiday, but I realized it was people shopping for all the snacks for their football game gatherings. I was able to score some tasty snacks of my own, but will be heading to the pool for a swim this afternoon instead. My guess is it will be empty over there too!
Genny- well, hopefully you and that friend you met on the plane can connect when she is back home this summer. I am originally from the east coast and have friends and family who split their time between there and FL in the winters. We have a few people who are snowbirds here and come down from further north, but most go to southern AZ where it is much warmer. I hope you continue to enjoy your time away!
JCS- glad we have been able to help you. I joined BCO back in the fall of 2012 right before I was heading in to surgery and have been on various thread through time (including some where I met Cami, Teka and others from long ago), but this is the main one I have stayed in touch with regularly. There is a really diverse group of women here but a sisterhood like I have not experienced elsewhere. I personally wish you the best as you continue on this journey with us.
Chi- thanks for your info on the Subaru. As I have read up on some forums, I have a belt and not a chain based on the year, and it may be more of an age issue- had this outback for 10 years. I was reading up it is good to do the water pump at the same time as if that fails, it can wreck the timing belt as well. More due diligence to do and will probably need to get this done this year. I think you have some time before you have to worry about this based on the age of your Outback.
Cami- any news on Bob? Is Joey into football?
Got a busy week ahead with job interview, helping a friend with rides around a procedure Tues, hoping to get my other car back and blinds installed and more. I hope everyone has a good week and for those of you on FB with me, I am off there for a month, but staying here with you all!
