how about drinking?

Jazzy, I'd add Dylan's "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere," Billy Idol's "Dancing With Myself," and MC Hammer's "Can't Touch This."
Tonight was the last gasp at bars & restaurants across IL. At Cellars, I had a gorgonzola burger (yeah, I ate the brioche bun), Caesar salad (no croutons, so I could eat the bun) instead of fries or slaw, and Grayson Cellars Zinfandel plus a flute of cava. Starting Friday, they will do both delivery (direct or GrubHub) and curbside pickup. Until then, I cook.
Stopped at Whole Foods en route home and scored some real heavy whipping cream. So tomorrow night's DOTD will be Irish coffee, made properly!

Our bars and clubs have all been ordered to close. Restaurant dining is closed for the next 15 days, although you can still get take out & drive through. A local grocery store has announced seniors only from 7-8am. Apparently you'll be carded. Nice idea but I don't shop at this store because there are too many robberies in the parking lot. So tomorrow I'll try my regular Kroger and see what they have.
Lunch was a hard boiled egg. Dinner was steamed bok choy and boiled potatoes.
Edited to say - I think I have enough wine w/o having to ration that.

Good early morning ladies, been reading and am all caught up now. Had Nora and Evelyn overnight Friday, it was so much fun to see them but Evelyn is attached to me like a baby monkey holding it's mom. She wants nothing to do with her Papa, doesn't want me to go to the bathroom or take a shower. She's fine when home but insecure at my house, next time I keep them I;m going to go hideout with Nora and she'll have to adjust to being with my DH, he got her up in the morning and was changing her diaper and all was fine until I walked in the room, then papa became a leper again. Nora bumped her mouth on a dresser and lost both lose front teeth! After the shock and the blood she was pretty happy about the double payment required from the tooth fairy! DH and I had our last outing Sunday night, went to my favorite restaurant for our 18th anniversary. All restaurants were required to close at 9 that night which I thought was weird, why not just let them stay open till normal closing time but I'm not the governor. Went to MO yesterday for my shots and a sit down with her. I was supposed to work 2 days this week and 2 next week and then retired, she doesn't really want me there at all, I've decided to work Wed/Thur this week and then I'm done. I only have 4 people each day and the new lady taking over can take any extras if needed. So sad for me, 15 years there and this is how I retire, I envisioned a much different scenario. My rear end is a bit sore this ayem, they didn't warm the shots this time and it hurt a bit more going in but still not bad. WBC's are down to 2.3 and lymphocytes low but neutrophils still ok. Feeling a bit down, the appointments make it all more real, I'll feel so much better when I get the scans at month 3 and find out the treatment is working, if not she said I'd probably be looking at IV chemo and the thought of that again is really upsetting for me. And to top it off I have a dark black line under my fingernail and MO wants me to see a dermatologist, plus my B/P is high since cardiologist changed my meds, running 170's over 90's. UGH, so I'm going to hunt for a new cardiologist today and I put myself back on my old med. Okay, enough of my whining..
Lori, so glad you're home safe and sound and staying healthy. It was SO good to see you, I really enjoyed it! Sounds like you're going to make a killing at that garage sale, when are you going to have it? Guess you have to wait till this virus chit is over now, whenever that may be.
NM, Hope you're able to keep the crud out of your place, my facility has been on lock down since the beginning of last week, dining room closed this week and all staff has to check in for temps and questionaire but so far they haven't closed the hair salon, not sure if they will or not. They have closed the salon at the assisted living, no one but staff allowed in or out. Thanks for the info about airing out, maybe we should turn off our humidifier in my house? It's connected to our furnace but that rarely comes on because of my hot flashes! So glad Sadie has a new friend to talk to.
Janky, cutting the trip short sounds like a wise idea, hope you survive the 14 days with your DH, I'm in that same boat, mine called all his principals yesterday and said he won't be traveling, staying in hotel rooms and bringing something home to me is just too big of a risk. We've never been "together" quite this long of a stretch, should be interesting. Maybe you, me and JCS can all share a cell! And to top it off we've got a week of rain on the way!
Chi, I have terrible tinnitus, had it for years and it's still maddening. I got hearing aids but they don't help except they're bluetooth so I can play white noise and it helps take my mind off it. Burger sounds delicious, I love gorgonzola!
JCS, my DH likes to tell me the better way to do things that I've done all my life, I have to remind him sometimes that I survived 44 years before I married him and maybe there is more than one way to do something. Bone scan, ugh, good luck, hope it's good news!
Cami, you ok?
Celia, morning vodka not sounding like a bad idea right now.
Jazzy, I got my last pilates class in on Saturday, was all hyped up to start doing yoga again along with swimming and pilates as soon as I retired and the fitness center closed yesterday.. best laid plans and all that. Guess I'll start some online classes. Teaching bc patients would be nice, it's such great therapy, the only thing that can keep my mind in the moment.
Ill, hope you're doing ok.
Well, Happy St Patrick's Day everyone, stay safe!

Hi all, I’m ok but still not eating much. I seem to do ok with very small bites of toast and bread/cheese combos but not much else. Unfortunately, I’m now back to daily nausea and vomiting despite anti-nausea meds, it’s exhausting.

Janky and JCS, you both have me cracking up. I have pretty much been with my DH 24/7 for 20 years! Surprised I'm not in prison!
JCS, good luck with your scan today. Is it the nuclear bone?
Janky, time for a new puter?
Celia, my step DD is a free lance photographer out of CA, she goes to the races all the time and is wondering what will happen with the triple crown races.
Sandy, great song titles as well. Enjoy that properly made Irish Coffee tonight.
Minus, not much of a lunch and dinner. Are you a vegitarian?
Mary, little Evelyn loves her nana. I forgot what Nora calls you....oh wait, it's Ya Ya, right? Good idea to hide out with Nora. I saw her toothless pic. Sorry about feeling down, shake it off girl. Ask about Verzenio, if you can take that? And maybe you can call ahead for your next Faslodex so they can take it out of the fridge? No planned dates for the sale, still hauling chit up there! But we did sell the truck! And waiting til all this BS is cleared up, altho there are no cases in our county as of yet. Glad you DH is staying home. That picture of Nora and Evelyn remind me of one I have with my kids. I'll get and post it after this one, as it's on mese phone.
BabyGirl, you poor thing, you just can't catch a break. What about baby food? I know some of it not so good, but just an idea.
Lucky O'wacky signing off...

Top o' the morning to you from Jolly O'Goofy (kind of suits me).
goldie - 24/7 for 20 years - you have earned a 'gold star' for sure, though I imagine if you start out working, being together you eventually figure out how to give each other space. A new computer was the first thing we were going to shop for on our return home, now in isolation for 13 more days, so that has to wait...
illimae - I feel so sad for you as nausea and vomiting are never easy to deal with, hopefully you are able to find something palatable that stays down like ice cream or homemade pudding/custard.
minus - I have enough wine for the duration, am going to need someone to do a beer run though!
JCS - wishing great results from the bone scan, I postponed my PET scan till April.
chi - that gorgonzola burger would suit me right now! I guess many will be doing take out, or pick up at the curb style dining for the next while. Enjoy your proper Irish coffee today!
Happy St Patrick Day NM & Sadie, jazz, cami, celia and everyone else. Cheers!

Hi friends- happy St Patty's day from Bubbly McMuffin, lol. Sounds like everyone is coping day to day right now, but so many of us are used to this. As much as I think back to some other times in my life when things were turned upside down, I do think it gave me some life skills to figure things out faster.
I have had a couple good things in the works for new gigs in 2020, including as of last week but do expect things may delay or come off the table with potential clients. So working on ways to maximize my cash flow right now and checked with my accountant on something you all may be interested in (but you should do the same with your own accountants too).
As you know, the deadline for filing your 2019 return is coming up in April. If you decide on an extension, you accrue penalties and interest unless you can prove some hardship reason. He said "hard to know what they would need for that right now." I had heard that they may be extending filing and related payments due into later in the year (like October). So we are going to wait a couple weeks to hear what the plan is there before we decide what to do.
Gotta run. Hope your day is filled with the luck of the Irish!0 -
All - The AICPA has been advocating on behalf of taxpayers. As a member, I received the following info in an email:
Based upon our conversations, we anticipate that Treasury and the IRS will announce this week an extension of the April 15th deadline by as much as 90 days, and a waiver of penalties and interest for most taxpayers. We will continue to keep you updated as we receive more information. You can also visit our AICPA Coronavirus Resource Center for frequent updates and resources to help you manage clients' needs and your business at this time.
At a presidential update earlier today, extensions & waiver of penalties & interest for those who owe seem to be in the pipeline. They also were encouraging taxpayers who are due a refund to file.

Update in re: Taxes
Most Americans can get a three-month reprieve to pay their income taxes for 2019, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said Tuesday in a press conference.
The IRS will postpone the April 15 tax deadline by 90 days for millions of individuals who owe $1 million or less and corporations that owe $10 million or less, he said.
To be sure, Americans still have to meet the April 15 deadline if they are expecting a refund or are requesting a six-month extension, but they can defer payment for up to 90 days beyond that. (Added by me - Take special note of this if you expect a refund or need an extension!)
"We encourage those Americans who can file their taxes to continue to file their taxes on April 15 because for many Americans, you will get tax refunds and we don't want you to lose out on those tax refunds," Mnuchin said. "We want you to make sure you get them."

Our CPA e-files for us, so we're going to fax him our worksheet, 1099s, W-2s/4s, etc. and wait for him to send us the e-file auth. for us to e-sign & return to him. We will likely owe a bundle again. Till the pandemic happened, we had such robust investment gains that they'd have more than covered the check(s) we'll need to write. But now that bite's gonna hurt a lot more.
Day one of house arrest (well, except for outdoor walks). All appts. scheduled for March & April have been canceled/rescheduled: ophthalmologist, ENT, vet. Pretty sure my derm will call to move my mid-May appt. to at least late June as well.
Bob voted this morning--polling place was deserted, as opposed to the early voting site on Sun., which was too crowded for him to be comfortable. There is enough lead time for all states to put absentee voting systems in place for all voters, in time for the remaining primaries and the general election. (So much for caucuses, which are unwieldy and archaic; and state conventions, which smack of the ol' "smoke-filled room." I've participated in both).
DOTD will be Irish coffee, of course. But I dunno when Bob'll get home--by that time it could be March 18, and too close to bedtime for me to have alcohol w/o setting off GERD.

Silly Mc Cheese checking in here.
Today, my ENT's office called again, and further postponed my appt. (which yesterday they moved from 3/19 to 4/30) to 6/22. I mentioned what I have isn't plain tinnitus but pulsatile & positional (and unilateral at that) and asked if it could be due to something serious (which everything I've read said there's a good chance it might). "Maybe," answered the nurse honestly after an awkward pause. But the unsaid subtext was that even if it's an AVM or a tumor which would cause a stroke, they're not gonna waste a precious ICU bed on an asthmatic 69-yr-old cancer survivor when they could give it to an otherwise healthy young COVID-19 patient with their whole life ahead of them (and likely a family to raise).
Ilona, so sorry to hear you're having nausea again. Hope you can eat a wider variety of foods soon.
Cami, you there?

Slainte:
I made this by muddling together in a 9-oz. mug 1 jigger Irish whiskey (turned out to be Bushmill's, not Jameson, and for me only an ounce) and 2 tsp. Swerve erythritol brown sugar replacement. (Bob said that was fine by him as I couldn't find the actual brown sugar lurking in the back of my spice cabinet). Then I brewed up a "lungo" (long) Nespresso capsule (decaf for me), and topped it with hand-whipped unsweetened heavy cream. So I actually was diet-compliant. (And Happy was glad to lick the bowl & beaters). I wince when I think of those bars that just pour a jigger of Irish Cream into stale black coffee, squirt in Reddi-Wip (or generic foodservice brand), and top with a drizzle of green creme de menthe or a sprinkle of green sugar.
I first tasted Irish coffee at its alleged first American landing place: the Buena Vista Tavern off Ghirardelli Sq. in S.F., whose proprietor brought over its claimed Irish inventor over from the boat terminal (that became Shannon Airport). Some in Ireland claim it was a Dublin pub that invented it. Some say it was the NYT's Clementine Paddelford who first served it in the U.S. But the Buena Vista was the place that brought it to Americans' attention, and it serves it as its specialty year-round, on an "assembly line" of as many as a dozen glasses at a time. I'm surprised to learn that the BV uses white sugar cubes (all recipes I've seen specify Demerara--aka light brown--sugar) and sweetened cream.

Ill- I am sending you much love and prayers to feel better again. Sorry things have slipped back for you
Cami- are you okay?

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Hump Day!I went into to work early yesterday to cover an 8 hour shift, part of a cascade of coverage of an overnight call out. It was interesting, to say the least. Lots and lots of phone calls from family members, which I expected. I was surprised how many families were pretty laid back about the whole thing once they realized they can call and get updates and even talk to their loved one on the phone. I never realized so many people thought that being closed to visitation meant no contact at all, even by phone. And when families found out they could still drop off items (cleaned clothes, special food, toiletries, gifts) they were universally surprised.
Maine now has 32 confirmed or presumptive cases. None in my county yet, but that is just a matter of time now. Lots of restaurants shifting to curbside take out rather than eating in, a few businesses that can't totally close are providing meals to workers (utilizing the curbside take out or delivery option) to help support restaurants. Hotel/Motel workers are getting hit hard with so many travel plans being cancelled. Some full time housekeepers are only getting 2 days a week as the manager try to rotate the available work through as many staff as possible. And there are some really innovated things popping up, too. A local Alpaca farm is now doing online tours for people to watch. Another person is posting coloring pages themed to go with snow day at home learning packets with versions for very young children as well as school age and adults. Interesting times.
Goldie--no, not 3 in my nursing home, 3 in the STATE, and all down in the southern part of the state near the New Hampshire border. Pollen does make the fresh air thing a bit of a challenge, doesn't it? Air purifiers are helpful, and so is using a humidifier. Sadie and the neighbor pup have not been officially introduced yet, the neighbors and I haven't actually really met yet, for that matter. Now is probably not the time to go knock on the door and say "Hi, I'm your neighbor!"Glad the truck is getting some positive attention.
Celia--ooh, that sounds like a great morning drink!
Jazzy--Hooray for getting the REAL ID taken care of! The phones weren't too bad yesterday, but we had our usual people answering the phone, so that helped a lot. The local pub that has the biggest St. Patrick Day celebration was closed yesterday. So sad to see that, but they are planning a St. Patrick Day 2.0when the pandemic restrictions are over. Something to look forward to!
Chi--I'm praying for Gordy's job to stay safe. Does your DH use any telehealth technology? In my nursing home we have a telemed unit that has been available but never really usedthat is going to be used almost exclusively so the docs that go from building to building won't be actually coming into the building at all. The nurse practitioners are being limited to going into only 2 buildings for the duration. Do you know about the Windows trick to enlarge type on the computer screen? Hold down the control key and tap the "+" key. Each tap will increase the size of the type for the whole page one step. Handy if your glasses aren't right at hand and your just doing a quick check of something.Holding down the control key and tapping "-" will decrease the type one step at a time. I'm not sure what I would do about the ENT appointment. That doctor's experience is not a good advertisement for the healthy lifestyle preventing disease and death.Just goes to show how little we truly know about how cancer works.
Janky--I've heard a lot about stores opening with "elder only" shopping times. I think that's a great idea. I am taking care of myself, said "no" to working a 12 hour shift, kept the work time to a doable 8 hours. Welcome home!
Librarian--Hugs and prayers as you quarantine with DH! I bet the scan appointment will be a nice break. Maybe you can drive yourself, and then extend the time by taking a drive? You don't have to get out of the car, just drive around and get a change of scenery.
Genny--glad to hear you are getting out of work. Rest up and see you soon!
Jazzy--love the song!
Celia--I bet that has upset a few people!
Genny--wow, lots of changes for you. My nursing home closed the dining room and the hair dresser won't be back in for at least 2 weeks, as of Saturday. We're doing the full screening of everyone entering the building, even delivery people. The Fed Ex guy has the form memorized, he's doing so many of them. We are only allowing things to be brought in the door, but not carried through the building by delivery people, we're doing that part ourselves. Hoping to keep it out, but realizing it's probably not totally possible. Keep the humidifier on--moisture is bad for the viruses. I use a small, $10 humidifier in the bedroom at night to keep my mouth and nose from drying out.
Morning, Illi--hugs and prayers.
Kind O'Gratin here!Happy day after St. Patrick's Day!
OK, I've got to get to work, finish ketchuping tomorrow!

Mornin ladies, Cheerful McWiggins here.
HOLY CHIT these pages are loaded maybe cuz we're all stuck in much more. I have my nites and days still mixed up, I can't get them back yet.
Illi I'm sorry now u have nausea , jeez how long will this last.
Scan ere done today right??? OK waiting for the news.
Lori how is ur son doing, I'm still praying. Oh my sisters gra ndkids are all in college across the world, but not anymore they're all home, well except for the 2 that are seals, they don't know if they'll get their leave in April or not. They are stationed in different areas tho.
As we have all entered the Twilight Zone without Rod Serling we're facing the same degree of in house living. Churches, schools, stores, businesses hospitals, restaurants etc. Never saw this before. They still had the shower but my SIL couldn't go cuz she lives in assisted living and no one goes in or comes out., boy was everyone cheering that one. So my niece could blame it on the home and didn't have to tell her she wanted nothing to do with her for the shower.
Kim so thankful for all of ur info u pass on to us. Ur surrounded by everything. Please take care of ur self.
Sandy that coffee oh so yummy, I could drink that everyday. Certain coffees taste so good to me now. I like the caramel starbucks for my Kuirig, I don't have to add anything just let it drip.
Hey Teka always look forward when u poop in.
Janky some of u have to slow down ur trips for a while, when u r used to that it's not easy.
Mary that picture is precious, love radiates from that picture. I love those ages. How are u doing right now. <<<HUGS>>>
I never knew tinnitus can be dangerous, my mom had it for yrs. my sister then me. All of us slept with either a radio or a TV on. My TV is on 24/7, only if I go out does it go off. Let us know how that whole thing goes.
This whole everything is closed and no school has my days so screwed up honestly I don't know what day it is til I look at the TV time and date. And my kids don't want me to close to Joey cuz he's been around a lot of people. and I always want to cuddle with him. Everyone walks around with Lysol and keeps a distance. It actually makes me more nervous , I feel like Oh my gosh, oh my golly going down the drain with Molly. I know that was stupid it just came out.
Well some of the posts lifted us up this morning. So that's good
Hope everyone has a good day and just stay in.
LUBS U ALL

Janky, we do manage being together. My DH won't do anything with out me, he won't even go to the doctors alone, we always go grocery shopping together. But during the day, he is usually out in the office, which is in another building and I stay in the house. I can do the beer run!
Sandy, I hope Bob made it home early enough to have your Irish coffee.
Jazzy, your quiche looks super yummy. I see cheese and tomato on top, what's inside?
NM, I have both, air purifier and a humidifier. You have not met your neighbors? Are they new as well, not just a new puppy? Glad to know it's not 3 cases in your nursing home.
Cami, my son is doing ok, he has been approved to stay another week, so there until the 27th. I told him that was wise, as jobs right now are going to be hard to find. We sleep with the tv on also.
We shall head out to town on Friday for our usual groceries, Wal Mart is not open 24/7 now, opens at 6, so we will be there at 6. Just really need the usual weekly things.

Good Morning! Bone scan went fine yesterday. The tech said he did not see anything that would make him want to take more detailed pictures. I take that as a positive! The hospital was as busy as normal, but there was a security person stopping people from getting on the elevators. People had to stop at a desk and be “looked at" before they could go any farther. I wore a mask and gloves.
Had the kids over for corned beef and cabbage last night. DH said we shouldn’t due to the virus, but I am not going to stop seeing my family. I have hand sanitizer, antibiotic soap and we did not hug. I chatted with some friends via the phone, but am missing my lunches and social outings.
Really worry about people loosing their jobs. Why bail out the airline industry and not movie theaters? There are so many people with two or three part time jobs that will now have nothing. Just boggles my brain.
Stay safe!

I'm only on page 1994 (even though I don't post often I read), but I don't have the energy to go back and read it all.
I'm on extended spring break (2 weeks early). As of now, we are supposed to go back on April 6th, but I'm guessing that will change.
Its great for me to have the extra time as my DH had quintuple bypass surgery on the 11th. He came home on Monday, day 5 post of, after a week in the hospital. He was admitted 2 days before surgery due to an unstable blood clot on the "widow maker" and 95% blockage on all the arteries. (Following caridac stress test and cardiac cath). He had been feeling lousy for 4 days and even spending Friday the 6th in the ER to be sent home saying everything was coming back normal but Craig's PCP insisted that the ER doctor schedule a stress test and cardiac appointment on Monday the 9th. The ER doc was like a doogie houser and would not admit Craig to the hospital even though PCP wanted him admitted. Over the week-end Craig was feeling worse and worse. We really should have gone to the ER Sunday night but DH wanted to wait as he had the cardiac stress test scheduled and he didn't want to waste his time in the ER to only be sent home again. Cardiologist immediately admitted to the hospital and started on IV Heparin trip. The surgeon the cardiologist wanted to use at a different hospital, so on the day before surgery they transferred him by ambulance to the other hospital on Tuesday afternoon. DH had one of the best if not the best cardio-thorasic surgeon in the area do the surgery. Doctors are really pleased with DH's progress, but he'll be off work for at least 4 - 6 weeks. Then he will start cardiac rehab. Not sure how long he will be off work, but his both is great. He does not want DH to check work emails at all!!!
The unexpected school closure is giving me 3 weeks to be with DH. I was off all last week and had planned to take this week off. My oldest daughter was going to come in next week but with all the Covid-19 that has been cancelled. For now, we are happy to be hunkered down at home. He is allowed to go for walks outside with me. I'll also go to the grocery store as needed, but not making any extra trip. Lots of stuff I can do in the house. We eat very healthy so the foods we can't stock up on is fresh fruit and veggies. A friend is cooking dinner for us. I do need to get some meat, fish and poultry to stock the freezer.
Everyone stay safe. Karen

Karen- I am sorry to hear about your DH but glad he is through surgery and on the mend. It's a blessing in some ways you have been given space to be with him right now with school closed. Continue to take care of yourselves.
0 -
Karen, prayers & healing thoughts for your DH to recover from his "quintuple cabbage," as my cardiologist hubby Bob calls it. Hope they can figure a safe (hygienic) way for him to start cardiac rehab when he's finally ready.
Lori, Bob even had seconds on the Irish coffee (seconds on the booze & coffee, not the whipped cream).
Cami, glad you're back. We were really getting worried.
Jewel made its delivery today--no TP (duh), Friskies wet cat food, non-clumping litter (the kitties will have to eat the hippie foo-foo organic stuff and put up with a different texture underfoot). But they brought 3 quart bottles of "the Precious:" CLOROX! Tried to order from Walmart.com--no availability of anything for either pickup or delivery. We're down to 13 eggs--could've brained Bob the other day for asking for 3 at one time (and our housekeeper for obliging). Ordered out from Whole Foods--all they had left on their site were "cage-free" white (out of the pasture-raised brown I usually buy). Hope they still have THAT. Nothing remotely resembling TP--we're down to 20 rolls, which seems like a lot for two people, but nobody seems to have any for sale, even at ltd. quantity; so I am rationing: 2 squares for pee, 4 for poop. (Hope Bob complies).
Good thing I canceled Heidi's vet appt. for today: the vet's office has announced that it will be closing its waiting room and not allowing owners to accompany their pets into the exam rooms--owners must phone from outside and wait for the tech to come out to the cars or sidewalk and take the pet carrier inside and then bring it back out. (My cats would go ballistic over that). Payment must be electronic too.
I have a cremant de Bougogne (Henri Montand Blanc de Blancs) chilling, to accompany shrimp stir-fry over cauli-rice. (Probably vac-seal & freeze Bob's portion). Normally, I detest having to peel & devein shrimp (these are the big'uns), but suddenly I have the time. Who knew?

I know we're supposed to avoid politics, but this isn't mentioning any candidates, parties, or even ideologies:
Why, indeed, bail out the airlines? They deserve to lose every penny. They've been screwing us over with increasingly rotten service, insane baggage & change fees that had no raison d'etre save to rack up more profits (and make the stockholders happy), skimpier seats crowded ever closer, bad on-time records, etc. Until now, they've been raking in record profits. What goes around comes around...
If Gordy manages to get paid working from home--until he's inevitably gonna be furloughed once the company suspends operations--a "payroll tax deduction holiday" would help him. But not anyone who gets a paycheck whose employer doesn't withhold taxes, nor "gig economy" workers.

Chi- I hope the focus on things will be to help the people this time, especially after 2008. Here in NM, it took us a full decade to recover from the last recession. We have so many hourly workers here that are loosing any chance of income until 4/10. Today the governor mandated to close the malls, restaurants (except for pick up and delivery), salons, spas, specialty stores, etc. They don't feel people are doing enough to socially distance themselves. I know soon we will be in lock down/shelter in place......
Outside of Southwest Airlines for the most part, I am not a fan of flying or the airline industry. Many of them will go out of business (don't forget the era of Pan Am, Eastern, TWA, Braniff, etc.) They have gone through decades of poor management and made it worse for any of us that like to travel.
I don't have the answers and know everyone is doing their best to figure it out. No road map for this one.
In the midst of this, I got an offer for some contract work today and negotiating. Go figure......

The Colorado governor has just banned any gatherings larger than 10 people. Schools are closed through April 17th (for now) - I'm guessing after spring break there will be some sort of distance learning, but I'm not sure how that will work for School Psychologists. Awaiting emails from my supervisor and the superintendent tomorrow. I signed up to help with crisis calls over the next couple weeks. I figure I can take calls and also take care of DH. He is feeling pretty good, but fatigues easily. He just needs to remind himself that it is normal post such major surgery and be patient. Him being in such excellent shape prior to the surgery is surely helping with his recovery. We sent pictures of his incisions to our niece who is an ER nurse at the VA hospital in Portland and she couldn't believe who great they looked.
One of my bf's is an anesthesiologist and she texted me a picture yesterday that looks like she is wearing a hazmat suit.
5 - 9 inches of snow is in the forecast for tomorrow. The blizzard of 2003 was this same week and the city was closed down on DD#2 5th birthday. Tomorrow she turns 22! Actually in Israel she is already 22 - she sent us a picture of her this afternoon with a tiara and birthday cookie with 22 (2 - #2 candles) on it. I told her to treat herself to mani/pedi or dinner for her birthday, but that will have to wait till this Covid-19 is over. Israel instituted strict measure before the US did. They are pretty much on lockdown in their home, but allowed to go to the grocery store or doctor or pharmacy. they are also policing people who have tested positive for Covid-19.
Canada/USA has closed their borders. But DD#1 said Canadians can travel back home. They were supposed to come for passover, but I think they need to stay home in Toronto. Airplanes are such petrie dishes. Don't need them getting sick or arriving and having to be quarantined because some fool on the plane was sick!!!

Congrats on the gig, Jazzy!
My voice teacher's wife dodged a bullet today--she is an event manager for AmEx, and was afraid she'd be let go. Instead, she got a 5% pay cut. Hope that Gordy does no worse.
Bob admitted tonight he DID visit a nursing home. He has two patients there: a family practitioner (lowest-paid of any specialty) who neglected his teeth till they got abscessed and gave him endocarditis--which turned to sepsis, making him bedridden, causing bedsores requiring amputation; the other patient being said doc's ex-wife. He says he can't just abandon them. The nursing home is testing staff--but not Bob, because he is only a "visiting physician." No mask or gown, either. No PPE at his hospitals--only ER and infectious-disease ICU staff can get them. No income coming in from office patients--because the office is shut down. And we're watching helplessly as our once-robust nest egg is melting.
So I have to assume it's likely he's been exposed at some point (when and to whom we don't know). Therefore, so have I. We're asymptomatic but I'm under house arrest, just getting deliveries. Nowhere to wear any of those cute clothes I worked so hard to get into. I feel like we're just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.
A Willowbrook (DuPage County) nursing home reports 46 cases; and up in Evanston, there are (so far) 3 community-acquired cases (sent home by Evanston Hosp. to recuperate) and 2 in the skilled-care bldg. of a far NW side senior community. The independent living bldg. (unlike Judy's retirement community) is not on lockdown!
