Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Thirsty Thursday! Things are proceeding apace here in Maine. Restaurants now must close unless they can use 10 or fewer employees at a time to provide delivery or take out, no dining in.My credit union is keeping the lobby open, but limiting the number of people inside at a time and encouraging telephone, online, and drive-through use instead. The 2 local hospitals have set up a drive through COVID-19 testing site. People need a doctor's referral to get tested, and call and register before showing up.Businesses being closed down are trying to find ways to keep paying workers at least a portion of their usual wages, but small businesses are losing all income and aren't sure how they will survive. It's getting scary. People are starting to over-react, too. And many people are finding ways to help --deliveringgroceries to neighbors, schools making up meals and creating places where they can be picked up so the food doesn't go to waste and kids dependent on school meals still get them.
There was an incident at work yesterday, a delivery man came to the back door (where he usually comes) read the sign that said he had to go to the front door to be screened before we would accept the delivery. He got upset and refused to be screened, stated he would just toss the delivery onto the parking lot and "FU".Our administrator (1) called the police to report the danger to our residents of a person refusing to be screened, (2) called the company and told them any delivery left without the driver being screened would be refused and the company would need to reimburse us for the cost of the suppliesAND be prohibited from coming on the property again if they continued to endanger our residents by refusing screening, AND be reported to other nursing homes, hospitals, etc so they would be aware of the risk of allowing that company on the property, (3) threatened to call the Maine CDC to report the refusal to be screened/follow guidance to prevent disease spread. That driver got a phone call from his company, drove away, and 30 minutes later a different driver brought the truck back, went around front and got screened, and the delivery went as planned. Then the administrator got a call that the first delivery guy no longer works for that company, and that all employees of the company have been instructed all along to comply with any screening being done at any delivery site, for their own protection as well as the protection of others.
Sadie thought the whole thing was over the top. Then she reminded me that dogs don't catch COVID-19, and why am I not rubbing her belly--I can talk and rub at the same time!
Morning, Janky!
Jazzy--good point that we have already been through times that turned everything upside down and having coping mechanisms.Good to know about tax filing, too.
Celia--Thanksfor pointing out the info for those expecting a refund--I fall into that category. Time to do my taxes this weekend!
Chi--It's funny how many people I have talked to don't realize that they can go outside their house and walk around, and even walk in the streets but should avoid congregating.
Jazzy--nice looking quiche!
Chi--Hmm, sounds like a troublesome interaction with the ENT office nurse.Interesting info about Irish coffee, too!
Cammy Cat--glad to see you here, was beginning to worry about you! I am taking care of myself, for Sadie's sake if not for my own. Actually, not much in my life has changed, apparently I don't go out a lot.I do expect the next Wednesday, Women and Wine get together will be cancelled when it gets closer. This is getting to be a scary time, isn't it? Something to tell stories about in the future. "I survive the COVID-19 pandemic" will be a popular saying on mugs and T-shirts in a year or so.
Morning, Teka!Good advice!
Goldie--The new neighbors finished their house next door and moved in last fall. Looks like an older couple. Not many opportunities to meet the neighbors around here unless one's doggo gets loose and goes wandering. The puppy has been around for just a week or so.
Librarian--You are right, we can't stop seeing EVERYONE. Family is important. Being careful will mitigate most of the risk. Having been in the hospital, you were probably more of a danger to the family than the family to you! I agree about the bailing out of workers. Start with the small businesses without deep pockets and resources, let the bigger ones manage for themselves for a change.
Karen--oh my goodness, your DH had quite the time! Glad he's better and back home and making good progress.
Jazzy--rationing toilet paper? What has the world come to?;)The vet requiring electronic payment, that's one I hadn't thought of but I bet will become very common very soon. Not sure I'd like to let Sadie go into the vet with a tech like that, but if she needed to be seen, I guess I could do it. She probably wouldn't mind either way! Good luck with the job opp!
Karen--here's praying that the family stays safe and healthy.
Chi--Wow, I can't imagine Bob going into a nursing home and not being required to wear a mask! We're making every visitor and any staff member who works in another facility wear a mask.
On a happier note, First Day of Spring--at almost midnite tonite!! YEAH!

JCS, good news from the tech and his comment! My brother made corn beef and cabbage for me while I was in Michigan.
Karen, I already knew about your DH and addressed that with you. Nice you will be home to take care of him and glad he is continuing to heal. Glad your DD will not be traveling via the air right now. And happy birthday to your baby girl.
Sandy, good for Bob skipping the whip cream on that second cup! My neighbor has chickens and they are laying a dozen a day right now. I picked up a gallon of bleach at the Dollar store, but only because I thought I was low, I wasn't! I sure hope neither of you get this virus.
Jazzy, good luck with that new contract.
NM hmmmmmm, perhaps that delivery person was tired of getting screened every place he made a delivery? But still no reason to act that way. Sadie is so understanding!
I finally called Sue yesterday. She is doing ok but is falling alot, mostly bruised nothing broken. She has a new grand baby from her son and his wife/girlfriend. She is 7 mo and her name is Sophia. Her other grand daughter Maddie, who is almost 11 is into gymnastics and Sue said shes is as good as Simone Biles! Sue may be traveling to Phoenix next month and if so, I will try to make it down there to visit her.
I most likely won't be on tomorrow morning, heading out early to hit the stores right when they open. Walmart has moved their hours from 6 to 7, but another store opens and 6 and Home Depot too, so we will hit those first.

Hi friends- happy vernal equinox, otherwise known as spring. We have rain here now and good for the spring blooms!
So the offer for contract work is being discussed right now, not yet accepted. Remember I had something I was going to do about six weeks ago here that that fell apart? Same people for this new one, but came through an IT group out of FL. I told them I had been working on a gig with them directly and was told they could not hire me due to only being able to hire out of certain locations. So I asked them to verify this, and they said they got no indication that was an issue. Weird, maybe it changed. I guess they want to just "hire me" now, and I have not even talked to anyone about what they need my help with? Different role but who knows what they are really wanting. So before I say yes, I need more info; the prime on it is working on that today. I just need more info and asked for more money too as I will be subtracting (probably better given the challenges that could be coming with getting paid during a pandemic.....)
And I have been also been recruited by a company in the area I would really LIKE to work for but is moving a bit slower. They reached out yesterday and have some follow up discussions. By having an offer on the table, I can use it to push the conversation to see how serious they are. This is full time job and and in tech. It all got surprisingly busy yesterday. But I like it!
Chi- I think it is good Bob can still go in to nursing homes to help. Most nursing homes and other group situations are limiting visitors, medical professionals and other care giver staff. I too feel like we are rearranging the chairs on the Titanic too most days.....
Karen- you are finding your way through this and glad you can help your husband to know it will take time to feel better. I remember a doctor friend who also helped me through my bc told me that it would take me a good year to really feel better after my cancer treatment. She was so right about that, I had a lot of fatigue after all that so it helped me to hear that so I did not put too much pressure on myself. As you know, some times we just feel a small healing shift as things improve with time. I wish him a continued strong recovery.....
I wish your DD a safe birthday too. My 60th is a week from today and all my plans are postponed for now. I was able to get an early lunch in with a friend a few weeks ago and to the concert with Harry Connick Junior too (he just cancelled the rest of his tour). So that will be it for awhile. I don't really eat sugar so I will skip on any cake, but think there will be some wine flowing on that day.....
Cami- everyone okay in your household?
NM- wow about that driver, what jerk. Well, he paid for that too with a job loss. I personally worry about the social unrest that may be coming with all this. Being out here in the wild west, people like their guns and heard they are flying out of the stores here. I watch the young folks partying on the beaches in FL with spring break, who don't get it either. The recent stats I am seeing actually have some of the infections more in the 18-50 range, and as we know, this virus is unpredictable. I hope your residents are doing okay and you stay well too!
Goldie- we are getting some nice rain out here today, you too? Started in the afternoon and good for the spring blooms. I was out with my hand saw hacking down a chaste tree into a smaller bush and pollen galore. Ah choo. Glad you got some corned beef and cabbage in.
JCS- congrats on the good bone scan. There is some good news for the thread this week!
Ill, Janky, Celia C, Yoga, Mistyeyes, and anyone else lurking here, wishing you blessings on this first day of Spring.

NM - Ihave a friend that is a speech language pathologist. She frequents a number of patients in nursing homes and now cannot see them due to the restrictions. She is very worried about her patients.
Karen - Hope your husband continues a safe and good recovery. It does take time to fully bounce back from that surgery.
Sandy - I went to the grocery this morning. No milk, eggs, yogurt. Limited breads and meat. Of course, no TP! I did order more of my CBD oil yesterday as I would hate to run out of that. My DH and I call the stock market ‘legalized gambling’ and have very little money in it. Instead we invest in things that hold their value, i.. vintage guitars, cars and sometimes jewelry. Probably not smart if no one is around to buy them. LOL!
Jazzy - Interesting about the job offers. Sounds like you have a plan for getting what you want. My father was a pilot for Braniff until they went busted. My BIL was a pilot for Texas International, then Continental. My nephew is now an international pilot for United. I love to fly, but agree that the airlines should just have to sort it out. I worry more about the people that work at the airport restaurants and kiosks. They are hourly wage and will be laid off.
My younger son accepted a job at the outdoor store REI. The store is being built and will not open until May 1. He just got an email they are closed until further notice. Good thing he had not yet told the bike store where he currently works that he was leaving. Older son just took a new job this week and is getting no orientation. It is in IT so not much contact with others. Always exciting around here!
Stay safe!

Kim, the exact opposite is the norm here for deliveries: they must be "no-contact" (ring/knock/text, drop & go). There's been a new case in a seniors' bldg. at the far SE end of Edgewater (abt. 1.5 mi. from us). The patient had limited contact with the outside world to begin with. Our housekeeper brought Bob a surgical mask from the stash the V.A. hospital gives dialysis patients and their visitors. He's at the union HMO today (doing only telemedicine house calls using their HIPAA-compliant platform), so will be home fairly early for dinner.
We didn't do any DIY investing--we have three brokers: two for Bob's medical corp's retirement plan and one to manage the portfolio his dad left us a decade ago. We are somewhat diversified, with a six-figure cash reserve and two six-figure IRAs to boot. To keep things in perspective, we're still in a bit better shape totally compared to where the market was last this low, but it's still damned scary to realize we've lost a quarter of the nest egg we had only a month ago. I have lots of guitars, but their value doesn't really appreciate because they're not exactly "vintage." And as for jewelry, I've learned that most contemporary jewelry has no intrinsic value these days other than their gemstones & precious metals (gold or platinum, not sterling) content. Glad we have only good silverplate flatware, as sterling isn't holding its value.

Thursday Thursday and first day of spring with the sun shining brightly! I am getting used to my 'quarantine', just wish my computer worked a wee bit less cantankerously! Our kids who live near have gotten groceries for us, and so far we have no need to go anywhere, once I rescheduled appointments The importance of solid, fact based reporting came up here in our small town, when the local paper published that a local resident was confirmed COVID-19, today it turns out that it is unconfirmed and may be a flu or?? Sadly, be careful what you read! I cannot believe the people partying on spring break, they just don't seem to get it or the seriousness of this virus - they may not contract it but may pass it on to others who will contract it, again, very sad.
Jazzy - quiche looks scrumtious! and yayy for solid job opportunities!
teka - nice to see you popping in, I love celia's poster too!
cami - how are you all?
goldie - I hope you are hanging in too? It is great that we have opportunities to shop early and with less crowds for the time being at least, though I still have 8 days of self isolation and even after that will be careful (but not totally isolated!)
genny, JCS - so far DH and I are managing, he goes out for an hour walk and that gives me a wee bit of room.
Take care everyone, enjoy the moment. Cheers

Bob's elderly respiratory-distress patients all tested positive for Influenza-A, B, or both. None were his office patients, so none got flu shots.
Shocked reading on other threads here that some members in other states are still going out to eat or shopping for non-essentials. Actually, shocked that any of those businesses are still open.
A 20-ish patient of the family doc in the convalescent center (rehab wing) I mentioned was urged by the doc's locum tenens (temp replacement) to get tested because one of her coworkers tested positive, and stay home till she could get results. The answering service called Bob to follow up. She is not answering her phone, and may be recklessly out spreading the virus if she's not simply incommunicado.

Jazzy - I asked DD how her birthday was - and she said as good as can be in a lockdown. She got to celebrate with her roommates. I told her she can celebrate big when this is all over, please G-d soon. Israel has stricter rules than the states - they closed all their borders, no groups larger than 5, must maintain 2 meter distance, can go to the grocery store, to the pharmacy, doctor etc. All her university classes are online
Big snow storm in Denver today - wet heavy cement snow - not sure of the total, but it took me 3 sessions of shoveling as the snow is so wet and heavy - I had to snow by 3". The last shovel was around 5 or so, and not that much more snow just a layer. Sure hope the snow is done. By Monday it is supposed to be in the 50s or 60s

Mary, here's a link that explains what I have--and that it shouldn't even be called "tinnitus" (which is produced by the inner ear) whereas mine comes most likely from an AVM, carotid stenosis or even a tumor:
Pulsatile tinnitus is DIFFERENT and often dangerous
It fries me that I have something that might cause a stroke or worse--but doctors gave me the brush-off for so long that now I can't even be treated because it's not COVID-related. Please forgive my ranting--I'm headed upstairs and hoping I can drug myself into falling asleep before this whomp-whomp-whomp in my head drives me nuttier than I already am.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy TGIF day! I do admit I am looking forward to a bit of a sleep in tomorrow ayem and a break from busting rumors and misinformation at work. I am amazed how quickly a bit of news can get twisted up and turned around and totally changedgoing from staff member to staff member. And the things people are thinking is just AMAZING! One person actually thought that because one resident had a visitor almost 2 weeks ago who is now being tested means that everyone who has been in that resident's room is exposed and contagious. No one is looking at the fact that the resident has no symptoms, the visitor has no symptoms, and is being tested only because the visitor has COPD and doesn't meet testing criteria. And was on a plane going to and from the home state and public health is not worried about that. Nope, only reaction is "OMG when will I get sick, when will my family get sick?"Like no one is actually reading or listening to actual authorities like the CDC and are listening to horror story writers or disaster movie producers. What shames me, though, is how many staff members have become totally focused on themselves, and barely thinking about protecting our residents. And if I have to tell one more staff member that the mask needs to be up over the nose to be effective I am going to have screaming fits up and down hallway! I really feel sorry for the Administrator, Director of Nurses and Assistant Director of Nursing. The strain is starting to show on them already. What we're supposed to be doing is changing literally every hour. I know it's scary, but what is happening to common sense and all our education? And how many times does it take telling one person the same info to get them to HEAR what's said?
Sadie keeps telling me to stop and breathe, and she's listening very carefully to everything I say. God Bless Sadie!
Goldie--I can imagine the delivery people are getting tired of all the screening.I've talked with a few who have, literally, memorized the screening questions through repetition. I know it's tedious and tiresome. And I know people's nerves are getting worn thin. Sadie is my sanity right now! Thanks for the update on Sue, I've been wondering and worrying about her. She must be so happy with Sophia's arrival! Many stores here are having early hours for people over 60 or at risk and asking others to stay away at that time. Many stores have changed their hours, closing a bit earlier to have more time for restocking overnight. Another whole class of front line workers are the folks working in stores, and they are getting a lot of grief from some people.
Jazzy--I am glad you are getting job opps on the table! May the best circumstance become clear soon. Funny about the only hiring from certain areas thing changing. Makes me wonder what was behind that to begin with, if it ever actually existed.I never thought about the gun thing, being a big hunting state most households have firearms, mostly of the rifle variety but many hand guns as well, and that could become an issue. I look at those kids on spring break and wonder if they will ever make the connection between their travel, the spread of the corona virus and the illness and, in some cases, death of their grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, or even parents.Or even their peers, asyounger aged people are starting to become a larger percentage of the seriously ill. It's a self-centered time of life, I suppose. So far all my residents are ok. Sent one staff member home yesterday with respiratory symptoms. Probably not COVID-19 but we are following the guidelines, and it's as much for her protection as ours and the residents'.
Librarian--This time is being very hard on health care workers who go from place to place. I'm sure your friend is very worried, and she has every reason to be. Congrats to the sons on the new jobs, even if things aren't working out exactly as planned. Love the Kitty Coffee Shop!
Teka--Happy Spring!
Thanks, Celia!
Chi--Our Medical Director started using the telemedicine unit at our facility yesterday. It was a bit of circus to watch them sort out the process, but once up and running it's going to be quite efficient and very helpful.
Janky--Those spring breakers are going to be the cause of a second wave of cases when they head back to their respective homes (most won't be able to go back to their universities). With that big pool of potential victims, the virus won't take long to mutate to hit that age group really hard. That's my bet, anyway.
Chi--shaking my head. What is with people?????
Karen--Don't you just LOVE that heavy wet snow? Cement snow, great description!

Mornin' ladies,
WOW it's like reading the newspaper from hospitals. There is so much going on who can think about all this. It's strange, I hardly ever go out but now the feeling of I should not go out is a different feeling.
Sany I can't imagine Bob going anywhere without a mask and gloves. He's really a caring Dr.. isn't he???It's wonderful to hear that but not at his own risk. It seems like u have everything under control under these cray circumstances, good too to have a Dr. in the house. Are Gordy and Leslie doing all right???
Lori I know u guys have a long haul to really get all the things u need. But do u also have a place where u can get just a few things that are important like just around the corner from you.
Jazzy I know u'll figure out the best plan for u, u always manage to and and also at this time there are offers for wanting you. I don't blame them but ull do the right thing.
Karen glad ur DH is on the mend. I know it takes a while but u being there with him has to be a good thing for him.
Hey Teka hope all is well.
I talked to my GF in CA and she too said there are only 5 people allowed in a store at a time, but the rest wait in their car so no long lines either. Then my GF called from FL an she went out for just milk and eggs an there weren't any in the store so she went home. I asked if she went to any other store and she said N O BUT I asked her if this was for ice cream would she go to another store. Of course our answer was absolutely. Why is that. This is one reason why we're BFF since 9 yrs. old.
Janky I saw some footage of spring breakers, obviously no one is taking it seriously in those age groups. But I think at that age they all think nothing will happen. Not to bright.
Kim u seem like ur in a zoo in a movieand everything is all crazy. Oh I'm sure movies are starting to be written already, but I hope things settle down quickly and have a decent ending. U r one hell of a brave person and u really keep ur patients health and emotions close to ur heart. But Sadie is right don't overdo. I'm always so glad u 2 have each other, I know how it feels. It's great to come home and always having someone who can't wait to see u. It is calming.
Lori I'm glad u spoke to Sue and happy she has a new baby to fuss over. I think of her often and always pray she's doing OK.
Anyone I miss I think of all of you a lot and hoping everyone is safe and happy.
LUBS U ALL

I don't think I mentioned this in an earlier post, but then again, my memory is like water through a sieve. My gf who is an anesthesiologist is wearing a hazmat suit in surgery. Her specialty is cardiac surgery. Since elective surgeries are cancelled, hopefully her exposure will be limited.
Stay safe and healthy

Hi all, quick check in. I’m doing fine, still struggling with swallowing and occasional nausea/vomiting but dealing with it. I have several streaming services, so I shouldn’t get too bored for a while.
Wishing you all well
0 -
Glad so many folks have been checking in so we know you are ok. I had the CT scan today and the MO said everything looked great. No cancer that he could see anywhere. He agreed that chemo would be kinda silly. So I get to continue the chemo vacay until June. We will do more scans and see what is happening then.Cannot really go out to celebrate, but will have a steak dinner here with wine!
Our governor just said no groups larger than three people on the beaches. Some of the barrier islands have closed to persons not living there. The fear is the Spring Break crazies will come here since Florida is closing beaches. Things get crazier everyday.
Stay safe!

I'm ok, read and caught up but tired tonight, I'll see you all in the morning

Hi all - I have not read all the above posts, so am just posting to say all is well in my world, and I am wishing the same for everyone - here and everywhere!! I am praying that people who are not taking this seriously will gain the sense they need to understand that this virus impacts ALL of us in one way or another. I will say that this self isolation gets to me, but have not yet considered the early demise of my DH
Have a safe, healthy, happy weekend - Cheers!

Bob's finally getting masks, paper gowns & gloves but not N95s. He lost one of his nursing home patients today--the ex-wife of the family doc rehabbing after a leg amputation. She had an autoimmune disease (polymalgia rheumatica, PMR) for decades and most recently congestive heart failure. She developed thrush but had a sudden arrhythmia that killed her (likely from a "cytokine storm").
Ordered out tonight from Cellars--the chef/owner actually delivered it. One of the things was a DIY martini: a bottle of vodka, a little cup of vermouth and some stuffed (pimiento, blue cheese) olives on toothpicks. Killed off that bottle of François Montand brut.

On a drinking related note: some bourbon distilleries in Central KY and Louisville have temporarily shifted to making hand sanitizer to help combat the coronavirus pandemic. Imagine other distillers across the US could do this also.
Just heard that P&G production facilities for diapers, Charmin, Bounty are being allowed to remain open even in those states on lockdown.

Janky - early demise of DH? Wait, what ?
0 -
Jazzy, I saw the "wink" emoticon after janky's "early demise" remark. Close quarters make grouchy bedfellows...
Koval Distilleries in my neighborhood (owned by a longtime member of our temple whom I first met at her Bat Mitzvah) has switched its production from booze (excellent booze) to hand sanitizer--but only for healthcare workers & facilities.

Jazzy, interesting about the new contract are the same people you were trying to work with a few weeks ago. And even stranger that they say that hiring out of certain locations is not an issue. Regardless, I know you will find something, you always do! I have a neibor that has his gun strapped to him 24/7 I think. I asked him one time if he slept with it on. I mean he would come to neighborly gatherings with it, like a Christmas dinner for instance! We only got a dusting of snow.
JCS, lots of people are going to be out of work....LOTS! This is just crazy! Gosh, I can never get a tech to tell me anything about my scans, so I quit asking.
Janky, that's awesome that you have your kids to do your shopping you.
Sandy, scary to know that youngin could be out spreading the virus helter skelter!
Karen, of course your DD would make the best of her birthday, given the circumstances. When is she "supposed" to return home?
NM, relax and enjoy your weekend with Sadie. And that is out rageous that some of the staff members aren't wearing their masks correctly, are they that stupid? And if they are, they shouldn't be working there. Good grief.
Cami, the closest thing to us is a Dollar General in town, 1/2 hour away and out rageously expensive! I assume Joey is home? I know you are liking that! Only 5 people in the store at one time? I can't imagine how long it would take to get everyone in.
BabyGirl, glad that check in and let us know how you are doing. I only wish it were better news. You are a trooper for sure.
Jazzy, no need for worry on Janky and the demise of her DH. She is talking about having to be with him 24/7. And Sandy confirmed as well.
Shopping yesterday went without incident. Wore cloth gloves when getting out of the car, and took them off before getting back in. Hand sanitizer then as well, washing anytime we were near a sink and DH did the same when pumping gas and then went in and washed his hands. Got everything we needed, stores were well stocked and not many people in there at all. DH has a dr appt in Flagstaff in a couple weeks and wants to get a room. I said no, I don't want to stay in a hotel room at this point in time. I'm not stupid!

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Sunny Saturday! I've got to admit I did enjoy a bit of a sleep in and a nice morning cuddle session with Sadie this ayem. And I'm relieved to not be going in to work today or tomorrow. Everyone is getting scared and anxious and rumors and bad info are flying around like mad, and people aren't paying attention to the things they can do like they should, and residents are getting upset about not being able to have visitors, and we have the whole run of usual stuff going on--residents with coughs because their congestive heart failure or COPD is acting up, rumors that we've run out of hand sanitizer (we haven't) or won't be able to get medications delivered (we will, delivery is considered critical infrastructure), staff suddenly finding out they know someone who has been tested and are assuming they are exposed (no your sister in another state being tested does not mean you have been exposed), and some staff who honestly believe that if they are exposed they will die. I came home so exhausted, as much emotionally as physically, last night. And on my way home last night I noticed so many businesses closed, and so much less traffic on the streets, and it hit me that the world really feels different right now. So this weekend I am going to allow myself two check in times per day for the virus stuff, and the rest of the time will be house work, Sadie stuff, audio books, Netflix, or DVDS. Giving my brain and my emotions a break to recharge before jumping back in the front line next week. I've become the information distribution person, getting info from the CDC, my admin folks, and WHO, and relaying it to all the staff in as many ways as possible and as often as possible. Going to spend a lot of time walking around talking to scared and upset people. . . .
The people I really feel sorry for, though, are the grocery store workers and delivery people. They are getting so much flack and are at such high risk of exposure, and no one really appreciates how much worse this whole thing would be if they weren't working.
Sadie says "Woof" to everyone, and is willing to bank a belly rub for every worry you have, and she will dissolve the worry as her belly gets rubbed! And she is demanding belly rubs every 30 minutes today!I'm setting an alarm so I don't miss a single belly rub session!
Cammy Cat--It is beginning to feel a bit like being in a disaster movie at work! The spring breakers are crazy, and don't even know how much of a crisis they are going to create when they all head home and trigger a second wave of infections. And they will never connect their selfishness with the death of their grandparents or other older family members. But that's typical of that age range, I suppose.
Karen--I hope your friend can stay safe, too.
Illie--what are you watching? Anything fun? I'm looking for ideas of things to watch while I clean house this weekend. Preferably not movies like Outbreak, or Contagion!
Librarian--Hooray for good scan results!Hope the spring breakers stay away, and glad to hear that beaches are being closed or limited.
Genny--Good Morning!
Janky--I'm sure the self-isolation is tedious, but I'm glad you are doing it.Thank you. Glad all is well inyour world.
Chi--Sorry to hear about Bob losing a patient. Never easy. I like the idea of a DIY cocktail. Could be a fun way to spend some time!
Celia--wow, I would never have thought about distilleries shifting to hand sanitizer! Someone out there was thinking!
Goldie--I actually understand the people not wearing the masks correctly. If you've never worn one for a long period of time they get very stuffy and hard to breathe through after a while, especially in a setting that is already very hot (like many nursing homes, and mine in particular). It gets to feeling very smothering. At this point it's probably better to leave a mask off then to keep touching it to move it up and down/on and off your nose. And people are starting to complain to admin about me ragging on them to keep the mask up and hand sanitize after touching it. Ah, well, letting that go for the weekend.
Cherry Blossom
• 1 3/4 oz gin
• 1/2 oz rose & vanilla-infused dry vermouth (recipe below)
• 3 1/2 tablespoons cherry jam
• 1/4 oz lemon juice
• 1 bar spoon simple syrup
Add all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously to break up the jam for 15 seconds. Using a hawthorn strainer into a coupe glass, double strain through a tea strainer to make the cocktail more clear. Garnish with organic cherry blossoms or other edible flowers like rose petals.

Hello, hello – only 8 more to go (days of self isolation), but then what?? In order to stay healthy and help prevent the spread of this virus, I am not foreseeing much more of a social life than I am currently undergoing
Jazzy – chi and goldie are correct, I did wink as I mentioned DH's demise –I am not used to being in such continuously close contact with only him and me, well maybe back in those early years of marriage, ha ha.
Goldie – I was horrified at the prices in Dollar General, the name of the shop is very misleading. Yes my kids have been very supportive, though I am thinking when my quarantine is lifted, they probably won't want to be even socially distanced close to us, which is fine, for now. I'm with you, I would not want to stay in a hotel room right now either!
JCS – I am glad your beaches came up with a more sensible plan as I imagine they would have been the next target for the 'breakers'.
Illimae – I am glad that you are checking in and doing okay in as much as dealing with inability to swallow and nausea allow
Hi to celia, teka, genny, Karen and anyone I have missed! Stay healthy, happy and have a great weekend! Cheers! Janice

Mornin; ladies,
Kim glad ur home, now put ur mind at rest an let it be home with u and Sadie. U've got lots going on during the week, at least give urself 2 days of just u and Sadie. An I agree with u about TV OUTBREAK, oh let's all watch that one. I stick with a lot of comedies and supernatural, and either way u get a good laugh.
Jazzy I thought the same thing about "the death of a husband" and thought why din't I know this. but now that's funny.
Illi glad u checked in sound a little better but I know u have a way to go. This has to be so hard on u.
JC good news, happy to hear that. That waiting is chit.
Sandy u made ur own drinks??? Sounds like fun <kinda> U 2 are still going out??? What's the story here. LOL Well good Bob got some protective gear to wear, about time.
Lori how r u doing U sound good. It's funny but I read the whole country's reports from here and it tells me a lot, except we are all in a bout the exact same place right now, which is not good. I saw a video on FB with people at the store buying TP and there was pushing, people on the floor, crowds fighting grabbing out of others hands...it was horrendous and then u think how much more will these young people bring back to their area and this will just be a longer delay. <I just had to make coffee>
Marty just came home from work an said that there were lines like cray around the grocery stores , a few others but lots of things just closed. Places are offering truck driver jobs for delivery to stores an don't need a truck license right now, there isn't enough time. Holy Chit, everyone stay off the roads. Even every few hrs. things are changing From being with 10 then 5 now 3 people. People with work are cancelling, except if it's an emergency <I don't blame them> I'm sure i tol u about the elderly woman who called an cancelle and ended up talking to me for 2 hrs. I know she was afraid an living alone but I couldn't help her. And the stupid men send me pics. with them not wearing gloves just to aggravate me. See why I go cray very easily.
OK I'm blabbering I started this post so long ago, I don't even know what I'm talking about. OK here's a thing with my computer to tell u,,,keys that are hard to work---D, Z, X, Q, 4, 7 so past tense will no doubt be missing a D, get used to it. LOL
LUBS U ALL

Hi friends- checking in here after a busy week. My work opps are really coming together now. The one with the firm that originally said they could not hire me due to my geographic location (yes they are here in town) and this other thing that came at me a few weeks ago. One in healthcare, the other in tech. I got clear with myself what I want yesterday and think in the next couple weeks or sooner, I should have what I am going to do next short term (or maybe longer term) in place.
I am going to keep everything else here light as this is a scary time for most everyone. I have caught up on everyone's updates and pray each of you continues to stay Covid free.

Hi girls, hope you're all doing ok with sheltering in place. Never thought I'd be so happy to walk my dogs! Feels like a true outing now. I had my last day of work yesterday so I am officially retired, very bittersweet, I envisioned taking my dogs which all of my customers love for frequent visits but that will have to wait. I did get to go to the pub (in the facility) for a last glass of wine with some of my residents, and I even excepted a couple of hugs, loaded up my supplies and handed the garage door opener to my replacement. And so it's done. I'm on my 3rd week of Ibrance and feeling pretty fatigued so it's a good time to do it, plus my white blood count is pretty low, 2 more days then I get a week off. DH has been cooking up a storm, some low carb, some not but it's all been delicious! The worse part for me is the idea of not getting to babysit, I was really looking forward to seeing more of the kids, their mom is not working, she's a dental assistant but they've shut down and she's applied for disability. My son says it hasn't affected his work at all, he's a hazmat truck driver, hauls fuel to the truck stops and he's as busy as ever.
Cami, I loved your analogy of The Twilight Zone with no Rod Serling, ain't it the truth! It's pretty surreal. I have plenty of wine and toilet paper so I'm good to go for awhle.
Jazzy, hope the new contract works out, full time tech job? Is that from home? 60th birthday sounds like one you won't quickly forget, hope you get to celebrate like you want sooner rather than later!
Janky, early demise of your DH made me laugh, maybe you both need to take more walks...alone!
NM, I've seen people with masks covering just their mouth but it never occured to me that medical people would do that..frightening! At our facility the mailman refused to have his temperature taken, I'm not sure why except maybe he was looking for a way to not have to come in. So now the mail gets dropped off and the office people have to figure out how to get it n the cluster boxes. Yea, I think these spring breakers have a big shock in store for them. And I hear you about Sadie, my dogs are perfectly happy with the new rules, I took them to the metropark for a 3 1/2 mile walk this morning, it was only in the 30's but with my gym closed at least it's something.
Lori, that neighbor sounds kinda scary but I guess better to have the gun and not need it than the other way around. Oh and thnks for the update on Sue, glad to know she is ok!
Karen, ugh, snow, you can keep it! I just wish we'd get some sunshine, it's so gray and depressing here, but that's Cleveland this time of year.
JCS, glad to hear about your son's new IT job and your younger son's new job albeit in the future. I haven't seen any TP in any store for ages, luckily my DH went to Costco for the megapak right before this all started. My MIL goes to Walgreen's all the time and she finds 4 paks, my DH says she's got enough to last until she's 95! Woohoohoo on the good scans!!! enjoy that steak and wine!
Celia, love the whatever kitty.
Sandy, thanks for the explanation, I did not know about pulsatile tinnitus, mine is like a tuning fork in my head with days that I get clicking added in, it's maddening but only dangerous if it makes me want to run my head into the wall.
Ill, thanks for checking in, hope better days are coming soon.
Okay so I started this early this morning and I see some new posts have come in since then so I'm going to post this now and read more later, been decluttering the basement and I've got a bit of a mess.... hugs and kisses, stay safe!
