how about drinking?

Mornin' ladies,
No I haven't slept, tried but jee without Xanax it's a struggle for me. I have to wait til Friday seems so long away right now.
Oh Sandy I didn't mean to get u upset about Bob, but I can understand. One thing I have to say is I wish he was one of my drs. He is so so dedicated about his patients. Not as easy as it sounds. He could have retired earlier and he just wants to continue. Wow nice Catholic boy. <sorry Sandy> but that's what people woul say years ago. Our CVS has a drive-thru for us and that's great between Leslie and me it saves a lot of contact.
Kim, Sadie is a pro at posing for anything. Gotta luv that girl. And I'll try not to nag u anymore. Kim Ithink these young people think they are totally immune so they don't give it a thought. And if they get it it's not so bad, they're just not thinking. They just don't think about the whole contact thing. All of Joey's friends are in their home. None of them have venture out at all. I have to give them all credit for being so patient, at that age I don't think I could have done it without arguing about it
Has anyone heard from Illi, or have I missed a post. Cuz I don't remember reading anything from her in a few days. And Teka hasn't pooped in like she does. Hope things are OK.
Kim the DOTD's are really lookin' good I wish I could drink. I actually could with just my regular meds but with this other stuff I don't know. I wonder tho <this is stupid> if ur a regular drinker if it would ward off this virus some. I know logically but usually don't catch much and if they're mean drunks they seem to live longer and die from liver problems after they've made other people miserable. I know that was mean. But I also know there are really nice drunks and they don't get sick very often now that I think about it. See how my mind travels all over the place, and it's all the time. Oh well not interesting I know, I'm blabbering as usual.
OK I might as well open up for work now and do the things I usually do to start the day, then fold up somewhere along the way.

Just a quick poop in to say I am officially scared now. My nursing home goes into complete lockdown at midnight. No one but employees allowed in. All PPE is under lock and key. This is it folks. ‘This is real. I’m betting all nursing homes will be required to do this within the next couple of weeks. I should have brought Sadie to work with me! I need a cuddle

Oh dear, NM! It is so very real. I keep escaping through reading and TV viewing only to be jerked back to reality when I cannot play cards with dear friends. I sincerely wish our governor would do a statewide shelter in place. Instead, he closed beaches to the public. If you own a house there it is still ok to access the beach. Not supposed to be in large groups, but we all know how that goes.
Back in 2018, my son moved to Tucson. Things did not work out so he came home. Rent is ridiculous and takes most of his income. I bought a small house and have been charging him “less than market rate” for the rent. The deal was he would buy the house from me in a rent-to-own situation. I thought we needed to take advantage of the low interest rates and do the transaction now. The house payment is less than the rent I was charging him! He will make double the payments to get the principle down. Should be a great way for him to build an investment and keep him closer to home!
Sandy-I understand your concerns about your DH. Sounds like you and he are doing everything you can to be safe. Doesn’t help the nerves and anxiety! I went to the grocery this morning during the senior hour. It was full of people! There still were no paper or cleaning products. Plenty of fruit, fresh veggies, milk, but no frozen meals or fruit. Decent amount of meat and pasta. I did wear gloves and used copious amounts of sanitizer.
DH and I will walk this morning then we will wait for the storms to come. Not sure what my project of the day will be. Might have to catch up on my ironing

Cami, sounds like you guys are being as protective as you can be. And so nice that you and Joey can talk, especially at his age. Oh my, how scary about your neighbors. Sorry you are having trouble sleeping, I can relate. For me it's falling asleep, takes a long time. And I love reading your posts, you are so funny. And I can only imagine how hard it must be for the kids to stay in the house.
Sandy, your husband is in a scary situation, but how you describe it, doesn't seem like he's too terribly concerned. But I can hear the concern in your post. Prayers that he stays safe, as well as you. Does he disrobe as soon as he gets home and then shower? Hope you got to see your son and his pooch.
NM, what was the OMG...that video? I think so. Not sure if the filters can be washed or not, I'll have to look at them more closely. Won't be needing them until a week from Friday, I have to go for my Faslodex injections. Hoping by then any germs on it will be dead! Those masks are going quick, if you want one, you better jump on it. And look at that sweet Sadie face. I'm going to yell at Mother Nature, she is not being kind to you. Love the lemon thyme cocktail.
JCS, I saw that typo too about your son buying a son from you. You got some 'splainin to do! Ok, you explained. Great deal for your son with it being cheaper than the rent.
NM, I'm so scared for you too. Damn I hate this!
I don't understand this toilet papaer bit. I would much rather have FOOD. I was not allowed in the doctors office with my husband, so waste of time for me to go. But lady and her mom parked next to us, both with paper masks and the lady had on latex gloves. Takes the elderly lady in, dont' know what all she touched in there, door handle for sure, comes out and leaves the gloves on, rummages through her purse, plays on her phone, then assists the older lady when she is done and takes something from the nurse, never ever removing those gloves. I so bad wanted to say something! They were doing her absolutely no good what so ever. Well, my ex called this morning. My son is currently out of there. He is being picked up at noon. Praying so very hard for him.

For those of you that are new to being stuck with your DH's 24/7.

The world is so crazy right now and I wonder what it will be after all this is over.I don't really think it will just go back to normal (or whatever normal was/is).Work is the same, they are trying to get the public to call/e-mail if they can and do more on-line permitting. They did block off the lobby and are taking one person at a time.I don't know if that will help or not.
My mom is having a hard time staying home, she misses her bible study group and her music group (they all meet once a week and play music and sing).I seen her in the screen room playing guitar and singing on her own.My sisters are on her every day to stay home and tell us if she needs something. My younger sister, Jenny, told her that she needs to make a list because she called and wanted something every day except one and my mother said oh that day Amy (me) got me what I needed. My older sister (Karen) lives a little further, but she told her that if we can't get it she would make the trip to get her what she wants.I do understand my mom, sometimes you really don't know what you want until you get to the store and see things. She has too much energy to keep closed up too long. She does love outdoor work and can't burn any yard debris or tree branches because it has been dry here for a while and we are hoping to get some rain soon.My mom is a fire nut, she loves to burn stuff, and we have to watch her.One time she was burning during a no burning time and the fire dep't came to tell her to put it out.It is kind of a weird feeling when you realize you come from crazy people, but sometimes fun.
Jazz- You have great friends to help celebrate your isolated birthday! The Chantilly cake is one of my favorites.Work is so up in the air for so many people.I am sure that you will have something coming your way soon.
Goldie – I think you look so cool in your mask.It makes me want to get one.Kind of a Star Wars/Star Trek look. The video of the bus had me holding my breath the whole time.
Karen – it is hard not being with your family, but I am glad that you and your husband are staying safe.
NM – I am glad that you are taking care of you by not working such long hours.Stay safe.I love the pictures of Sadie. She has my dream life-LOL.It is so strange when I read about snow when we are already having such hot weather. It is way too early in the year for these temperatures.I was kind of hoping that it is a good thing with people saying that heat and humidity makes it harder to survive outside the body.I don't really know, I just do I guess what everyone is doing, living day by day, and trying to stay away from other people.
Librarian- You must be going stir crazy. You were always meeting up with your friends for cards and other things.Hopefully, things will get back to normal soon and this will just end up being a part of history.
Cami – So glad that you have Joey there for some company. It was so sweet to bring you a surprise with an "I love u".Hope your neighbors are ok.With this virus thing, you really can't find out about anybody and when you get sick in the hospital you are really on your own now.
Sandy – I know that you are so worried about Bob, I worry about my DIL in the ER.I know that they were not testing anyone unless they had all the symptoms.I don't know about viruses, but I keep thinking people react a little different to things and would we all have the same symptoms.I love to read what you have for dinner and drinks, it always sounds so elegant.I think I need to start mixing up my dinners and making it a little bit more exciting. Glad you got to talk to your sister.
Illi – Hope you are doing well.Check in soon.
Janky, Genny, minus and celia and whoever I missed. Stay safe from this virus
NM- just read about the lockdown – It is probably just a precaution, but it does make it feel real and it even left me with a unsettlingfeeling in my stomach.

Just poopin' in.
Oh Kim explain to me what lockdown is for you. U can stillgo home right and bring Sadie tomorrow??? This is a sinking feelin g in ur stomach for sure.
Misty ur mom sounds fun. Isn't it great to come from a crazy family, when u think back it's makes for fun memories. Sounds like ur taking all precautions too but this is still crazy.
I'm streaming a reality show, 90 days before one of the all time best lobotomy people I've every seen. I never saw it from the beginning so it is funny stupid but it's better than trying to clip my toenails,.
And taco Tuesday for Taco Bell is a free taco...I give these places credit for trying to stay in business too, but trying to make it as best as they can for people to get food someway or another. We have ordered out a couple of times from restaurants we know but really who knows I guess.
See ya latah.

Kim, here's a virtual cuddle, with prayers that you get through the lockdown at the nursing home safely. As a breast cancer survivor (you had chemo, right?) aren't you considered high-risk? Hope they give you enough PPE.
Bob says that Little Company has sequestered the ICU rooms with COVID-19 patients, and put patients hospitalized for other things who need telemetry beds into the SICU and CCU. Only the younger fellows or newer attendings are allowed to actually visit the virus patients--one doc per shift, at that. Charts are outside the room--the other docs and nurses can read them in the corridor. They are working on installing cameras and letting doctors & nurses use iPads to communicate with the patients who can still talk, and the doctor allowed in the room as well. Advocate Christ did that for the entire 3rd floor. He will be seeing his two Little Company patients in the non-critical parts of the hospital, and one may even be discharged before he's scheduled to see her.
The reason Little Company is so slammed is that it serves not just the immediate area (Evergreen Park & Beverly) but--to put it bluntly--the large almost-ghetto to the east, all the way to the coverage area of Advocate Trinity (where I am glad Bob stopped going a decade ago). The virus is hitting low-income people the hardest because they can't afford the luxury of being able to social-distance in their own homes. It's not unusual for two families to share one apartment--and some of those families are large. Many of them have no nearby access to large supermarkets, so they have to take the bus to one or resort to little corner stores (where no more than 3 people at a time can safely shop).
We got emergency alerts from the IDPH pleading for licensed medical personnel to volunteer. They are sending the retired docs to outlying hospitals with no coronavirus patients (some of them transferred from hard-hit hospitals) to do "normal" care. Bob is not retired, so he's already doing his part. (All his hospitals are requiring staff--including visiting docs--to mask/gown/glove at all times they're in the bldg.). Does he disrobe when he gets home? Alas, no--I can't even get him to leave his shoes at the door and change into the house slippers I bought him. It is what it is. We do have enough room to distance, except we eat and sleep together (the latter 4'+ apart, in a king-size bed). If either one has to isolate, one will move to the guest room. The healthy one will get the shower-less downstairs bathroom, the sick one the master bath. (The reason for that is because the sick one won't be in any condition to go up & downstairs for the bathroom--both bedrooms are on the second floor).
DOTD: more of that Coravin-ed Casanova chianti, with the steak I grilled. I opened & decanted a previously-Coravin-ed 2016 Antiche Vie chianti, but because the contraption's argon cartridge had been spent, the wine in the bottle had "turned." I have about 20 more pours left in this cartridge, with a spare on hand and a 3-pack coming (on subscription).

Just to add to the fun of the day the governor has just issued a shelter in place order or as she puts it stay healthy at home order. No nonessential travel. I mentioned in the announcement that social distancing and nonessential travel is going to be enforced by law-enforcement. It even specifies how many people can be in a store at a time depending on the size of the store. The big box stores can have about 100 people the smallest stores can have like five. 6 foot distancing so on and so forth. I’ve just gotten off work, little late tonight as I was trying to get some techie stuff done with some phones and what not but we’re gonna need desperately tomorrow. I suspect I’ll be in early in the morning to get that finished up. But for now It’s home to

I just realized that I never posted the note I did as I got off work yesterday, and have just sent it through.

Good Morning, Loungettes!I've had a good night's sleep and am feeling betting this ayem. Even though Sadie and I are getting up to yet more SNOW. Not supposed to amount to anything, and will be changing to rain tomorrow. Wet and yucky out there. Sadie says Hi to everyone.
Librarian--I escape through reading, too, and movies and DVDS.I get enough of the news and real life stuff during the day. Sounds like you didyour son a good deal with the house. It will be a great investment for him.
Goldie--I'm seeing lots of people using gloves and masks incorrectly, and thinking they are getting protection. If the mask isn't over the nose, you might as well not be wearing one. Gloves need to be removed ASAP after touching something, not worn while rummaging inyour purse! People just do not understand. Prayers for your son.
Misty--I agree, the world will never be the same as it was in February. It must be really hard for some people to stay at home. Your Mom sounds like quite the entertaining person to know!
Cammy Cat--Yes, I can still go home to Sadie after work. The lockdown means that NO ONE, except staff, will be going into the nursing home, with very few exceptions. Movement of people between the resident living area and the administrative area is being limited, too. And I agree, restaurants are working hard at staying open and providing food. And being very creative in the process!
Chi--thanks, I needed that cuddle. I am considered high risk for severe illness due to my age and having asthma. I did not have chemo, I went the surgery, radiation, hormone therapy route, so not sure if the cancer history counts or not. It sounds like you have a good plan in case one of you gets sick.

Misty, sorry your mom is having a hard time staying home. I too am a fire nut, as are my kids. I guess it comes from living out in the country for so long. We have to be VERY careful with fires out here in AZ, esp. in the summer. Glad you liked the bus video. I can't even imagine anyone risking to try that...and were there people on it???
Oh my Cami! Funnier than trying to clip your toenails! I swear, you were a comedian in a past life or will be in your next. I sure wish Chevy would come back, you two are such a hoot. I can't eat Taco Bell, or Arby's. Both upset my stomach. I'm not a big fan of fast food period. I will eat the fish sandwich at Arby's when they have it, and they have it now.
Sandy, praying you both stay healthy. With his job, I think I would sleep in separate rooms now and practice that social distancing at home.
NM, law enforcement should have been brought in a long time ago, and for every state. People are going out for stupid reasons and not being safe. Putting themselves and everyone else at risk. I'm even worried about my son not protecting himself properly and not aware of all the things that one touches. The filters on the mask do look like you can wash them. Would it affect the performance? They are carbon filters.
Praying big time for NM and Bob, as I think those two are at the biggest risk among us. But praying for all of us as well.
I worked out in the garden some more yesterday. I have just about everything trimmed and cut back! FINALLY! Still have the herb garden to tackle, that one won't be too hard. Business is starting to pick up, as gardening season is just around the corner. Thankfully this virus is not impacting our business.

DH and I were able to find a part of our Palmetto Trail where we could take a short hike. It was a nice coolish day here today and the hike was an easy one. It made use of several old train trestles that crossed a local river. We even saw a river otter playing in the water! It was so nice to be out in nature and breath for a while. Tomorrow I will get back to yard work.

JCS, you are lucky your trails are still open. Here in Chicago, only the streets & sidewalks are.

Same here Chi. People are congregating on our bigger trails so they are telling people to stop or they will be closing soon. I have a trail right near my house by one of the major roads and that is still open. That is where I walk, but not very busy. The big trail down by our river is where everyone is hanging out.

Good evening, Loungettes! I'm pooping on this evening Because I plan to get up early and go in and spend some time with the night shift 1st thing tomorrow morning. It's sad to think it took a pandemic to move my nursing home into the 21st century, but today I finally got the new iPhone's up and running ,And that's gonna make life a lot easier for the nurses. But, it requires a fair amount of hand holding and education As many of the nurses are not big fans of modern technology. And there are still lots of questions Going around, And it helps to have face to face discussions about some of the stuff.Goldie--I think carbon filters can be washed. At any rate, I'd be willing to try it. Well, that animation is down right frightening.
Team--first crocuses are wonderful! So pretty.
Jazzy, very appropriate song!
Librarian-- those are great pics! Must have been a wonderful walk.

If PontiacPeggy is lurking on this thread, she should be pleased to learn that tonight's DOTD (with cedar-planked Alaskan salmon) was 2012 Sandhill Crane Winery Pinot Noir--from that Jackson, MI winery where we had our March 2016 BCO gathering!

Mornin ladies,
Lori I so agree about Bob and Kim, being right in the thick of this. Thank you. How is ur son doing??? This has to be hard for him, especially with everything going on. Well I'm glad at least this ddin't impact ur business sooo many are fighting to just stay afloat. Basically all of Dan's business is emergency which is needed, but they're pretty big jobs. Now these people don't have a choice, so I don't know where anything is going. Lori I can't even look at that chart.
Teka thanks for that, stay well.
JC it's nice u take us on ur walk. That looks so calm, u wouldn't think of all the chaos that is going on. No wonder u like to go on walks. I like to look at the scenery, just don't want to take the effort on myself. Seems like ur doing OK.
Jazzy ur truly have a Song in your heart. Anyone remember that movie or song??? See that can keep u sane especially now.
Jeez Kim it does take a pandemic to catch u up on techy stuff. What a shame. U are pushing urself and u know it Kim, I say no more. But give Sadie extra belly rubs for this.
Has anyone who goes on other threads seen Illi, it's been a while.
Sandy I enjoy reading what u eat, always sounds so yummy, An u have an adventurous palette. I really give u credit for being on a diet when everything u describe always sounds so good it''s hard to just allow urself just so much, <well at least for me> Can u tell I woke up hungry this morning.
Joey and I spent some time together yesterday, nothing else to do. But it was fun. For him, well maybe not so much.
Everyone stay safe.

Good morning Loungettes! The early ahem start went well, got a lot of questions answered and some misinformation corrected. And found a continuation of a notable problem from yesterday. Some people are so stupid!!!!! Have a good day everyone’s

JCS, what a beautiful trail to walk. For some reason, I really like the picture of the bridge. Funny little story...when I was little, my parents took me to the zoo. We happened to be at the otters, and I was yelling "otter, otter". Everyone thought I was so smart, but I was really saying "water"!NM, I've only worn the mask one time, so it's just sitting there, It will be 1 week tomorrow. I can find anything that tells how long the virus can last on fabric. Ha ha, I think you are being scolded by someone!
Cami, that poor kitty. Statick and styrofoam! I've only talked to my son 1 time and he just got out Tuesday.
Went down to my neighbors yesterday to get some eggs and they so graciously gave me some quail too! I've never had it, so need to find a good recipe. Also some apples, so I'll make apple crisp with that. Our spring winds are here, gonna be windy for the next 10 days. Heard on the news yesterday that here in AZ, if things continue to get worse over the next 2 weeks, we may go on lock down. WTH, why not just do it now, why would you wait for things to get worse! Grrrrrr!

JCS - gorgeous photos. Not sure about any hiking trails here, but we are walking in the neighborhood. Not getting in the car to drive anywhere to walk - but that is not new for us during the week. We are getting nice walks in during the day. DH even got to 10K steps yesterday, just 3 weeks post op!!!!
Stay safe and stay healthy everyone

Hi folks- just popping in to say hi and it sounds like everyone is mostly doing okay. I am keeping my days simple right now and been focused on doing a deep dive clean out of some closets that really have needed it. I have things for both my donation place and consignment store from this week's efforts. Going to finish up today, and then work on some paperwork stuff next. There are some things getting attention that perhaps have not had my full attention since I moved in to this house in 2004. It's also giving me some ideas of future home projects I want to do (can you say California Closets?)
Weather here has been nice, and got my patio pretty much set up and the back yard clean up has come along nicely. After my dumpster of cuttings gets emptied in the morning from the trash pick up, I plan to do more pruning to finish up the things that need a trim. Some of the indoor plants in the dining area (jade plants and other things that cannot be outside in winter) are going out today. I am thankful for a nice space to hang out in during this time of stay at home directives from our state governor.
As part of my own self therapy around this, I am trying to journal more. I have been doing journaling my whole life and have a stack of them since my 20s and with the idea I may write a book some day. I also "blog with myself" and write short essays about what is going on in the world or in general. I have found it hard to write about this pandemic thing, sometimes because it came on so fast and the impacts are so enormous and leave us all wondering about the future. But the words are finally coming and I am writing away now. I love to write short stories and think one will come from this time that has been like no other.
I am getting out for walks in the hood every evening, unless the winds are up. We have a lot of bike trails here and one near my house, but it is never crowded. The ones in other areas, especially by the river, are having problems with crowding. Plus there was a fire down by the river yesterday. They tend to close some of the high fire areas in the spring to keep the wild fire risk down, but expect the gov may shut down some of the trails that are too full. I enjoy walking around my hood and seeing the things blooming and can easily avoid people if I need to. We have about 350 cases here now and we are not yet seeing a flattening of the curve.
Sending much love and prayers for all the medical workers including NM and Chi's husband Bob. Many other here have those working in healthcare, may they all remain safe and well during this time.
Okay, I will wrap this up with something fun for you from Horse with No Name. Stay well friends.....

Happy Thirsty Thursday (maybe it is two for Thursday too )DH and I got a phone call just before 10 pm last night saying we are both negative for covid-19, phew! In retrospect it would have been nice if 1 of us had been positive just for the follow up from which knowledge may have been gleaned, oh well. We remain self isolated and will continue till told otherwise, sure am missing socializing, but that's fine! I facetime with the family and just had a lovely visit with my 90 year old dad who lives in a senior's complex in Georgia; he is managing fine, able to go for a bike ride daily on his 3 wheeler, and having his meals delivered from their kitchen - so far no illness there, praying it remains that way.
I am not sure what I am doing with myself, but am not staying on top of my favorites 'drinking' buddies, or anything else right now, so to all of you, stay healthy, well, safe and laugh lots if you can! Cheers! Janice

I’m here! Just haven’t been reading as much the last few days. I did get brain MRI results a few days ago, good improvement and nothing new. I did manage to eat most of a turkey pot pie the other day but still having trouble and now getting really sick of the few things I’ve been eating for two months. Also, the vomiting is back, seems to be caused by sudden stomach muscle contractions, not sure how we’re going to address this, my MO is aware but she thinks it’s related to the swallowing issues and I agree. Gonna keep on keeping on 🙂
