how about drinking?

NM - thanks for the idea. You jogged my memory that I have a bottle of Peach Schnapps in the back of the cupboard. I'll bet I could just add a dollop to some bourbon.
I did try an 'on line' order for PU at Total Wine. There was no tonic water in the grocery stores, so that was my goal - but also ordered 6 bottles of Carson Ridge Cabernet from Paso Robles. Delicious wine on sale for $8.99 if you bought 6. Yesterday was only my second time out in two weeks - one short grocery run at 6:45am early last week. This PU worked really well - no other stops & didn't pass go. Riding it out.

Cami, glad you and Les worked it out and can laugh about now.
Mary, I hope the gargling and suggestions help with the mouth sores. I've never gotten then...knock on wood.
NM, maybe take Friday off and give yourself a 3 day weekend. Praying for your safety and those around you at work, patients and other staff. I've made the Olive Garden Chicken Gnocchi soup from a copycat recipe online. Was "souper" yummy! I did not make my own gnocchi tho.
JCS, glad you are staying home. The mountains and the cabin will be there for you to visit when all this chit gets cleared up. IF your govenor doesn't do something because he/she thinks they will lose money from the tourism. They must think it's better to lose lives!
Sandy, good idea to grab that "Bounty" box. And 1 square for number 2...I don't think so. Especially what mine and many others here are dealing with due to meds!!!
Celia, no worries about "keepin it clean". If those dumb asses (or a$es) sat 6' from one another, maybe it would be ok?
We had to go out yesterday, bank and title company (we sold our truck), I did not go into either place. Then a quick stop at the grocery store, maybe 10 minutes. This is how I went in.

Hi friends- catching up here as we come in to the last week of March. And oh what a month this has been. I brought in my 60th birthday this week all on my very own, but want to say people in my life did their best to try to do some nice things for me knowing I could not get out to do much. I was able to do a few things earlier in the month but mostly everything planned for later has been postponed. Although it was the "weirdest birthday ever", I am fine with doing my part to stay home and help flatten the curve. There will be more to do later as we find our way in to yet another "new normal" in this nation and our own lives.
A yoga friend did a lovely thing on my b-day and dropped off a little chantilly cake from Whole Foods for me. Lovely surprise and we talked from "a distance" during her drop off. I also got some take out from my favorite restaurant for a birthday dinner. Some chipotle chicken pasta and a side of caprese salad, some nice french Vouvray and some chantilly cake all made for a do-able day. Lots of cards, phone calls, texts and e-mails too. I felt loved!
The work opps seem to be slowing down. The second interview for the FT position I have been pursued for has gone radio silent. Reached out to the recruiter I have been talking to and will see if I hear an update from her. I would not be surprised if they are starting to freeze open positions. A lot has changed in the past week since my last update from her. But another good contracting opp came up this week and waiting to hear. I think I will be better off sticking with contract for now and leaving the door open with others for the future.
Spring is really popping out here right now. My trees are starting to leaf out and been doing a lot of pruning of things that need to be cut back. My favorite nursery is still open right now and considered "essential" as they sell seeds for food. Many I know are getting gardens started and also with the idea of going back to some basics of growing their own food. As much as I want some pansies and the like for my garden, I am staying away. They tightened things up here further this week with a lot more shut down. We have just shy of 200 cases now and a big jump in the past few days. Our gov and city mayor are on top of this.
JCS- I hope you can go with your friends later to enjoy the mountains. Such an unfortunate timing for you having more ability to get away and now you can't. I think you are keeping yourself safe and there will be more you can do later. I tell myself if I do this now, there will be a later. I don't want to get this crap.
NM- nothing like some good take out, eh? I have been doing far more cooking this month than normal. I am sorry to hear it is now in your community (vs. just in your state). Spending some time outside is helping me, I sit on my patio most mornings to meditate and watch the sunrise. We got a cold snap so I did not do that today, but it should warm up and maybe will do that later today. But oh now, here the wind is again. Stay safe sister, and I can only imagine you trying to calm the fears of so many worried about loved ones they cannot see.
Goldie- I hope you and DH are doing okay. I saw your pictures of the masks on FB. Do you know how your son is doing?
Cami- how is everyone doing in your family? Are you doing okay friend?
Chi- I bet Bob is working hard right now to help people where he can. Hoping Gordie and Leslie are doing okay too.
Mistyeyes- a lot of the places I have worked locally are very gossipy. The last place I worked at (and have contracted at off and on for years) has so much self created drama. I have some colleagues there that have been reaching out since I left with that, and of course, now things are really hard. They just want to talk about all the problems and dysfunction. I just keep my space and have compassion for everyone. You stay strong and wondering if you can use head phones or something to reduce the noise around you? If asked during times of trouble, I just tell people I am taking it one day at a time.......
Janky- are you back home yet?
Teka- how are things in North Country. Any signs of spring your way?
Celia C, Yoga, Karen, who else am I missing? Everyone okay in your world.
Will post a pic later today of my cute cake for you. I highly recommend the Whole Foods chantilly cake!

Jazzy:
Q. What's the difference between an accordion & a concertina? A. You can fit more concertinas into a trash compactor.
Q. Why do bagpipers walk while playing? A. To get away from the sound.
Q. How do you convince a banjo player to get off your porch? A. Pay him for the pizza.
Q. What's the difference between a musical-saw player and a dead frog at the side of the road? A. The frog had a gig.

Hi ladies,
Kind of late I know, but a goofy day with work. People are actually calling for an estimate and they say well as long as I'm home Imight as well get some prices for my project. I've asked is this something that has to be done NOW..??? So they expect a stranger to come to their house and talk to them. WTF haven't they listened, first they're home for a reason and even if our guys wear masks and gloves why would u do that......dumb a$SES again looking for trouble.
Sandy those were sosilly I actually laughed, boy am I comedy deprived or disabled whatever the word is.
Aha a case of scotch, great idea instead of knitting a rope for ur DH.
Misty don't listen to anyone talking keep ur 6 ft. distance so u can't hear.
Lori u look adorable no matter what u wear and u look safe.
Kim please take care of urself u don't need to put in more hrs. than u have to. U always put everyone else first, put u first.
Jazzy I didn't realize u were 60, I thought u were a few yrs. younger. That was so nice of ur friends to make sure u had some goodies, that's cuz they luv you girl. Yes ur still a girl til u reach 65.
Celia they had a party??? I guess people always think nothings going to happen to them.
JC I really thought all the states were on lockdown. But urs isn't cuz of tourists, cuzz they might not be coming this year but much.
Chit I'm trying to think of everyone here and I still can't remember all I read and I read it 2x on purpose, but when I pray I know God knows what and who I mean.I think my prayers have moved up the ladder to nagging.
Mary I hope ur mouth is getting better, I never heard about selzer water and how could they be out of that. Or is it club soda, or is there a difference. Can u tell I didn't take a nap today. I never do when I'm working then I have to make up for it some days.
Wow no one has been here in weeks. If Dan or Bob have to drop something off they spray the bag an contents and leave it hanging on the screen door and Marty gets it and resprays it and let's it sit for a while. Hope that's good enough.
I was thinking about my dad today and he used to say if u drink wine every day and eat hot peppers u won't get sick very often. The wine builds up ur blood and hot pepper makes ur nose and eyes run along with sweat and it flushes out ur system. Of course he made it up but I never remember him having a cold or the flu, wellexcept the one yr. he got the flu shot. Other than that he really never got sick like normal people. Working 45 yrs. at the same place he took about 3 days of sick time and that was a little before his retirement. He had an ulcer from all the wine and hot peppers. But I know he'd make me feel better now with everything. He always could even when I'd have a panic attack at 2am, I could wake him up and he's sit with me or if it was during the day he'd take my hand and we'd go for a walk and talk until I felt better. I loved living upstairs from them. And now they're living upstairs from me.
OK enough blabbering.
LUBS U ALL

Good morning, Loungettes! Happy Sunday! I wish the sun would come out today, but that's not the prediction. Rain and snow developing tonight. I didn't get anywhere near what I wanted to done yesterday, today I am going to get dressed and see if not staying in my jammies will make me more productive! I talked with Mom yesterday, she and Dick are doing well. I gave Mom instructions about going shopping for groceries--wait till she has alist of items, pick ONE store, find the hours for elders/at risk, go then and only to that ONE store, wipe down everything she touches, change clothes and shower when she gets home. Hopefully the stress on going to only one store will keep her from going into the half a dozen she usually visits, maybe only to 2 or 3. I may have mentioned some friends that we go to Bean Suppahs with--Bill and Gloria. Gloria had dementia, fell and broke her hip a few weeks back, and died peacefully Friday evening. She never left the hospital. Bill did get to visit with her earlier in the day before she died. Gloria did not die of COVID-19, she died of complications of the hip surgery, as most people of her age (80's) do, primarily postoperative pneumonia. At least her mind is clear now. I already miss her. And I wonder how long Bill will be with us, he has spent the last many years totally dedicated to taking care of Gloria. Sadie is happily running round outside, barking at the wind blowing, I guess, I can't see anything else for her to be barking at right now. Wish I could feel as happy as she does right now, I'm feeling a little bummed today. But I am also counting my blessings (and I have many) to maintain a good balance. And NOT listening to the news today!
Minus--glad to hear you had a good pick up experience! I think there is going to be much more of that going on after all this is over. One benefit of all this at work is that the facility now has 3 iPhones, and is getting secure systems for interacting with on call physicians and providers, and getting responses faster than the call the paging company, waiting for a call back system. It's pushed us into the 21st century!
Goldie--I didn't take all of Friday off, that's a key info day right now with critical updates coming out from the Fed and State CDC and State Dept. Human Services. Monday is the other key info day. And I'm the administrator on call this weekend, so I needed to be right up to date. So far only one call, and that was easily handled since we have a plan in place and the charge nurse knew the plan and followed it (YEAH! Someone really LISTENED to the education!) so all I had to do was call and update the Director of Nurses. I l0ve the mask you are wearing, it looks like it's more protective than our regular procedure masks!Does it have any kind of filter in it? I'm wondering if that might be an untapped resource.
Jazzy--It must have been a very odd birthday for you. I'm glad you are ok with doing more celebrating later and being safe for now. And how sweet of your friend to drop off a cake for you! I can imagine all the lockdowns are affecting lots of employment situations.Good take out is a treat and one I enjoyed greatly this weekend. It's going to be busy with connecting families and residents over the next few weeks, but it will be worth the effort. I'm working on staying safe and appreciate all the good wishes and prayers coming my way.
LOL, Chi!
Cammy Cat--LOL at the kitties helping sweep the floor!People are calling for estimates and expecting workers to come to their house??? Really??? People just do NOT GET IT!!! I am trying to be very careful with my hours, and still meet the need. It's getting to be more and more scary trying to keep the balance. People keep thinking this will all be over in a couple of weeks and aren't hearing that restrictions will be re-evaluated, not necessarily ended, on the dates given. This is going to be going on like this through most of the summer here in Maine unless this virus can't handle warm temps, and given that it's hitting Australia pretty hard and they are in their summer to fall season that does not seem likely. Such sweet memories of your Dad and his advice and help. I wonder if he never got sick, or just never knew if he got sick cuz he always had a runny nose and such from the wine and peppers??? Some people are just blessed with a strong as iron immune system.

Two friends/acquaintances are in the hospital with Covid-19. One is in his late 60s - he used to live in Denver, but is now in Philly, but he came back to Denver to take care of business (they still own a house here) and landed in the hospital in Denver. His wife is quarantined in Philly and so far still healthy. The other near 60 and was admitted with pneumonia and tested positive for Covid-19. He has several health problems including severe asthma, overweight etc. Lastly, in Toronto, my DIL's 78 year old uncle is in the ICU on vent with Covid-19. These are very scary times. DH and I are staying hunkered down except for walks in the neighborhood. I wash my hands after opening mail, after opening any packages delivered. I open the mail and dump it on the table for DH or have him take it out of the envelope. I probably wash my hands more than 10x time and of course then lotion.
This week is my official spring break (the one of the calendar before Covid-19). I need to spend a good deal of time learning how to do my job through Schoology or Google Classroom. We are finding out new things daily - Friday was from Legal on how we support groups of students who have IEPs - all very confusing to me. I've been thinking maybe I'm too old to keep doing this and maybe retire, but I know I'm quite good at my job when things are normal (will it every be normal again?) - when we are based in schools with kids. Hopefully come August/September we will get back to some semblance of normalcy.
Stay safe and stay healthy.

DH has a dr. appt tomorrow, just a podiatrist. Wants me to go with him, as he never wants to go without me. I seem to catch and absorb more information from the doctors than he does. We will go out like we did the other day, masks and gloves, wipes and gel and then strip down on the porch when we get home.
Minus2, thanks!
Jazzy, sounds like you really enjoyed that cake. We had that cold spell too and snow all day, of course nothing that stuck. Things are starting to pop here too. My son is doing ok, scheduled to be released this Tuesday, giving him 4 weeks. I know he wants out, however, there are NO jobs to be had with all that is going on and I doubt there is room at any of the shelters for the same reason. I told him to ask for another extension. Thank you for asking.
Cami, are the guys actually going in to do these estimates? I hope not! Good that you guys are spraying things, just not the food! I do not have any Lysol or the such, so have to make up bleach water and wipe things down. No matter how old we get, or how long our loved ones are gone, we will always miss them.
NM, so sorry for the loss of your friend Gloria and hopefully Bill will be able to hang on as long as the good Lord wants him too. So often a spouse dies after the death of the other spouse. We don't listen to the news either. Just staying as safe as we can. I think we are more fortunate than others, just because of where we live. Sorry you are feeling a little down, hoping that goes away as the day goes on. I'll post about the mask at the end of my post.
Karen, very sorry to hear about the aquaintances in the hospital. Hopefully things will get better and you can continue your job right at school. And if you are good, they need you!
As for the masks, they are not an untapped resource. The website is out of stock, and same with the filters. So yes NM, they have a filter. The website states to just keep checking back for product. On the filter, this is what is on their website.
Will your masks protect against viruses and/or other pathogens?
All our filter types block 99.9% of particulates down to .1 micron. This rate is known to be effective toward most airborne pathogens like Influenza and SARS.
Please be aware that our M1, M2, and M2.5 masks only filter the air being breathed in and not the air being breathed out. Because of this, they will only provide filtration for those wearing the mask. If you believe you have been infected, our masks will not protect those around you from the spread of infection. There are multiple ways the COVID-19 virus can be contracted, and we recommend following all prevention measures provided by the CDC and WHO.
If you are using our masks against airborne pathogens, the mask must be washed with a sterilizing soap and filter replaced after each wear in order to prevent exposure and spread.
CDC website: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html
Are your masks N95-rated?
Our masks are not yet NIOSH approved. As part of the multi-phase testing process, our filters have been tested at Nelson Laboratories in Salt Lake City, UT and tested at 99.9% efficiency against particulates down to .1 microns in size. An N95 rating means that a mask filters at least 95% of particulates down to .3 micron.
Our official test results are available on our website: https://rzmask.com/pages/technical-information.

Good Sunday morning girls, sunny here for a change, going to have to get out for some much needed vitamin D. Supposed to have 45 mile/hr winds by noon tho so there's that. DH taking the pooches this morning so I'll have the afternoon windy shift. Had a happy hour with 3 of my girlfriends last night via FB messenger. We all clicked on at 7 and never clicked off till 9:30. I admit I got pretty tipsy but since I was home sitting in my bed I didn't have far to fall.
Kim, please just don't work so much that you get worn down, make sure you're getting plenty of sleep please, I know you are one of those wonderful nurses that takes the shift whenever they need you but don't overdo it...Okay? I did get prescription stuff for my mouth, the swish and spit and the numbing stuff but I don't have thrush, it's just 1 aggrevating sore that doesn't seem to want to heal. The numbing stuff helps but only for 15 minutes or so. Sore is almost healed up now, just have to watch what I eat. I woke up this AM with kisses from Hazel she is such a cuddler so when Harvey decided to get off the bed she took full advantage. Been wanting to take advantage of some takeout but we have SO much food, my DH really stocked up! Got to get the fridge cleaned out first. My DH made tuna and noodles to die for cause of my sore mouth, the best I've ever tasted so that's on the menu of leftovers for tonight. Hope you manage to keep the virus out of you facility, so far none in the place that I worked but it's in the county that has the highest number of cases in OH.
Lori, I should think you live in one of the safest places in the country , so secluded, no problem keeping a 6 foot distance. I love the outfit! How's your son? And has the virus gotten to St John?
Celia, neighbors sound like dumb asses for sure, always people out there that just can't follow the rules. Our next door neighbor has her 20 year old daughter that lives with her and people come and go from there all day long, at least 3 or 4 cars everyday, the mom is a teacher and I think she's been staying at her boyfriend's house.
Janky, my DH forgot to get me club soda so I've been putting salt in sparkling water and swishing with that and I do think it's helped. I start round number 2 with the Ibrance tomorrow so I'll make sure I get club soda in the house in case those nasty little sores show up again. I'm hoping it won't be a montly thing but we'll see.
Cami, Oh you crack me up! Your dad sounds like he was one of a kind like you, love the hot peppers and wine story. Glad you're staying safe, how's Joey holding up with the isolation? I think it's got to be harder on teenagers than anyone, at least they have the internet. Woul've been tougher in our day.
Jazzy, happy belated birthday!!! Hope you get to celebrate in style sooner rather than later. Nice of your friend to drop off the cake. Spring is popping here too, tulips and daffodils just about ready to open.
Sandy, Your Heidi sounds like my Junior, most finicky eater I've ever seen, I call him an Atkins dog, eats meat but hates all carbs, I've never had a dog that turned their nose up to pizza, pasta, bread...and his food has to be slightly heated in the microwave. Don't know how he survived his first 5 months in a puppy mill. I hope I NEVER have to ration TP, so far we're in good shape but it'll depend how long it goes on. I am out of Kleenex, having to use TP for my nose now. Hope your DH can continue to stay away from "the Crud."
Teka, Minus, Karen, Yoga hope all is well, I started this post quite awhile ago, stopped and came back but I've got to get started with my day and whatever it may bring. Plus I've rambled on long enough... stay safe friends!
Oh boy, I just refreshed and missed a lot while I was typing, I'll stop by later to catch up...again!

Happy Sunday one and all! I had replied earlier then my computer restarted itself and I lost it all - ugh, so looking forward to a new one!! My DH was blowing dust in his shop yesterday and somehow managed to blow air into his ear and now has a ringing, a bit of pain and nauseous - ugh, I may have to call our health help line to see if there is anything he can do - from what we read online it should pass, hopefully sooner than later. Our 14 day quarantine from out of country travel ends today, BUT really? really there is not much we can do anyway, so we are getting used to this confinement. I had a fever Tuesday and the usual aches etc, from flu, so DH and I were swabbed, still waiting for results, so really until we know one way or another we will stay in isolation anyway.
genny - as long as you are getting relief that is the main thing, but do get in a club soda in the event they return. Happily they have only occurred randomly and I am finishing my 23rd cycle of Ibrance/letrozole, so sores have not been a huge issue! That is the thing with Ibrance - the side effects are random, appearing, disappearing, then reappearring; there is an Ibrance thread here, and they call it the Ibrance Dance, cause we never know when the dance starts or stops, constantly changing. PM if you want more info...
NM - take care of yourself, so that Sadie can be safe and snuggled!
cami - I love the swiffer kitties, so fun!!!
jazzy - Happy belated birthday!
illi - I hope your digestives are improving?!
chi, goldie, teka, minus, JCS, karen and everyone else stay safe, healthy and keep on smiling! Cheers!

Just taking a break from my cutting back more in the garden.
Janky, praying very very hard it is NOT this covid19 you have.
0 -
Goldie - Thank you - we are too! Although the symptoms have more or less disappeared other than a bit of sneezing, and tiny cough, hopefully that is the end of it!!!

Janky - Hoping for negative Covid test results.
Jazzy - Happy Belated Birthday!
JCS - Glad you decided not to go to the mountains, although they certainly are lovely. We will miss our annual stop over in the Asheville area enroute to Isle of Palms this year due to Covid.
Cami - Your dad sounds like a real character. My departed mother-in-law used sherry & candy for medicinal purposes. Birthed 9 children at home (lived in the UK, think of Call the Midwife), never took a prescription & passed away in her home at age 93.
Goldie - You sure look snazzy & ready for the outdoors!
NM - Stay safe & thanks for all you are doing. Belly rubs/head pats to Sadie.
genny - It was 80 degrees here yesterday. Had to shut the windows & turn on the AC in the late evening due to rain & severe storms. Woke up to sunshine & lovely breezes - currently 64 & lovely to have windows open & the air circulating throughout the house. Hope your mouth feels better.
Everyone else - Hope you enjoy your day. Those not feeling good/having issues - Healing thoughts, gentle hugs.

Can't remember if I mentioned this in an earlier post, but DH and I are starting to look at rescue dogs - Filled out applications with two different rescues on Friday and one already called our references. One is a gorgeous brown 1.5 yo Dobie and the other a 4 yo Shepherd mix. Time will tell. We've spoken to the foster on both dogs. I'm leaning more on the Dobie as we've never owned a Dobie but we have had a pure AKC Shepherd and a Shepherd Malamute mix. Both were awesome dogs and smart. Over the 42+ years we have been married, we have had at least 8 - 10 different breeds - and I think 10 dogs! The 6+ months since we said good-bye to Mischa is the longest I've not had a dog since I was 9 yo.
Everyone stay safe and stay healthy.

Cami, wish I could get my kitties to help with the Swiffer, now that my housekeeper has to shelter in place. (Her DH is on dialysis, so she needs to keep from catching anything that could infect him). We had a cat (he died 15 yrs ago) who loved to ride atop the vacuum cleaner!
Jazzy, happy birthday, young'un!
Mary, this is gonna sound weird, but ask the pharmacy (or your oncologist) about "viscous xylocaine." I once had such an awful strep throat that it was prescribed for me when Sucrets weren't numbing enough. It came in handy again when I started nursing Gordy (who was like "Jaws" right from the start) and my nipples were super-sore until they finally toughened up. I would wash it off before each feeding and then reapply.
I wish my podiatrist could practice--but his services are not considered urgent. Tricky fending off the calluses, blisters, and ingrown toenails, especially with the nail salon on lockdown (I Venmo-ed my nail tech/salon owner what last week's mani would have cost).
Kim, stay safe. I get so nervous when I see the city's appeal to all people with healthcare skills, regardless of specialty (even dentists & podiatrists), to volunteer to treat COVID-19 patients--especially when it's soliciting the "recently retired." Bob's still working, but he's 70 and has a 1/4-1/2 pack/day habit (physician, heal thyself), and it's scary enough when he sees office patients, much less at his hospitals (where he goes now to read EKGs & echoes--the younger cardio fellows perform the stress tests and he interprets them). He has such a sense of duty--and the thing that had kept him from boredom--streaming & binge-watching--has become a trial, what with Amazon Prime suddenly buffering like crazy due to overloaded servers from people ordering groceries & working from home. Me, I have a nearly-full DVR to plow through & free up, and a bunch of mandatory CLE videos I must finish watching by 6/30.
Extremely windy today, but no rain--so I took a mile walk. People are getting better and more courteous about social distancing out on the sidewalks. Haven't driven in over a week--gonna disinfect my car's interior and take it for a spin so that the tires don't go flat.
DOTD: more of that Casanova Chianti. Tried to kill off the last of the 2014 Morgon, but it had turned. Had a rough time dispensing enough of the Chianti from the Coravin (5 yrs old now, long out of warranty). Did some troubleshooting, and found that not only was the argon cartridge spent, the needle was clogged with crystallized wine crud. Fortunately, I had both a spare cartridge and a special needle-cleaning needle. Voilà: nice gusher of a pour!
Tom, the chef-owner of Cellars, delivered our dinner himself tonight, and threw in a free bottle of champagne and a bunch of peppermints. We order on Fri. & Sun. nights (Sat. is for Fri's leftovers)--would order oftener if they were doing to-go orders the rest of the week.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Monday Monkey day! Waking up to another coating of snow that came down overnight. Talk about craziness. Also seeing that restrictions are officially in place through April. Which I expected, but somehow it's harder to see it officially announced than to be thinking in my mind that's what will happen. Welcome to the "new normal" I say, and now everyone gets to find out what that feels like. Sadie seems to be pretty unphased by the whole thing. At least I can keep life normal for her!
Karen--so sorry to hear about your friends. Praying for recovery for them both. I'm sure you will figure out the new way of teaching. I'm sure it's confusing to everyone involved. And I hope things are back to normal by the time the next school year starts, too.
Jazzy--;)
Goldie--That is great info about the masks. A medical N95 mask filters down to 0.3 microns, so yours is even better! Woops, you've already got that. I'm still going to keep an eye out for a mask and some filters. Bill is a strong Christian and has depended on his faith for some time, I know he'll do well that way. But statistically, when a couple has been together a long time and one dies, the other is very likely to die within 6 months to a year. It would be easier for him if people could visit, but that's not the case right now. I watched some favorite movies yesterday--Indiana Jones and the Lost Ark, Twister, Spaceballs and lightened my mood considerably.
Genny--LOL at the getting tipsy in bed on FB Messenger with the girlfriends! That's the way to socialize right now! I'm being careful, and getting enough sleep and doing all my keep the flu away things. So far, so good. I've always liked tuna noodle casserole, still make it pretty regularly using my Mom's recipe. I'm not sure why so many people make fun of it!
Janky--I hope you DH only have the flu--and I never thought I would hear myself saying that!
Celia--Sadie says Thanks for the belly rubs and head pats!
Karen--What a wonderful way to make the best of the quarantine time! Can't wait to see how it works out, and pics of the winner!
Chi--Hearing the call for health care providers to register is super scary. The health care worker supply is tight to begin with, it's only going to take a small percentage of us being off work due to being sick and the whole system could collapse. Here in Maine it's been teetering for a while and I'm so scared of what's going to happen. If people don't obey the quarantine and social distancing people are going to die due to lack of trained caregivers. The constant buffering on Prime is getting annoying. I've got to learn how to download movies and such and watch them that way.

Good morning all! Going to the bank this morning to close on the son my son is buying from us. We should be the only ones inside along with the attorney. DS’s payment will be less than the rent we have been charging him! It is also a great way to build equity and have an asset that will (hopefully) help later in life. Even though the city of Columbia is on the shelter in place order, the bike store is considered essential and my son has to work.
Will work on a grocery list for some time this week. Have to replace the perishables. Funny how there is no hoarding of wine.
Started watching Ozark on Netflix. It is a very somber look at a family that is involved in a crime syndicate. It is not new so many of you may have already watched it. Very complex, but interesting.
Take care

Mary, loved that you had your online party, how cool. As for the virus where my DD is, I don't know. I do know there are 23 cases in the VI's but they don't specify which islands and how many on each.
Celia, 80 degrees already? I'll take the 64 any day!
Karen, good luck on your rescue search.
Sandy, so nice to have a chef personally deliver your dinner! And on top of it all....free champagne!
NM, I was so glad that I thought of our riding masks and was elated when I learned they are even better than the N95 ones! They do say to change out the filter each time you wear it! Not going to do that! I can't beleive you got more of that white stuff.
JCS, I don't think there is a shortage on any libations
I think the biggest problem with this virus and the spreading of it is within the younger generation. Just not taking it seriously, and they are the ones that will most likely survive it, but yet infecting those that will suffer with it, if not perish!

I don't think you will be able to see this unless you have Facebook.
TURN AROUND, WE FORGOT THE WINE!

This is a dealer near me that sells RZR's (quads) and it appears they have masks available like what I have.

It's me ladies, kinda late but here.
Karen sorry to here about ur friends. But ur keeping busy, so that's good.
Janky let us know as soon as u know.
Kim u'd better be honest cuz u have a tendency to not know when u overwork cuz u just keep on going <yea like the bunny> and Sadie needs you like crazy and she can't make soup. Remember that.
Lori u really don't have to worry about people being to close for u where u live. That's nice now u can walk anywhere around u and u won't have to think about seeing people. Oh Lori I hope ur son can stay in longer, can they do that for people???Especially now, this all sucks.
Jazzy ur cake was adorable but I did think those were prunes at first, thinking that was funny. Well maybe not.
Mary u've got to get rid of those sores they sound miserable. How about if u drink alcohol and leave it in ur mouth for 20 seconds or so an maybe the drink will numbit or something. Like we used to do with babies teething, well I did anyway.
Wow Sandy delivery and champagne. Sounds delish. Do u think maybe Bob is doing to much now, I mean he seems like he's always somewhere working, doesn't he get nervous. He sees so much chit everyday. Things are just scaring me more.
Our next door neighbors 82 and 78 are both in the hospital with this thing. But he was at rehab and came home and a couple of days later got sick and she followed. Oh boy but we haven't seen them or anyone for that matter. Joey is holing up pretty good so far. We had a nice talk today again. I actually enjoy speaking with him I learn so much from him. All these kids seem so much smarter now then in my day. When I was his age I could never talk politics or countries and how they managed to form and stuff like that. Hell I still can't.
One of the guys dropped something off for me tonite and put it on the dorr. Les sprayed it and we letit sit for a while then thru out the bag. So he text me "in the door...I love u." Well one man says it still. So I had to tell all of u.
OK guys I'm going to try to relax, almost out of xanax
LUBS U ALL

Bob is working shorter hours but still scaring the scheisse out of me. His office patients are generally healthy (other than their heart problems), he never goes to Holy Cross (where several Cook County Jail inmates are being treated in the ICU) any more except to read echoes in the doctors' lounge; Advocate Christ Hospital has sequestered a separate "respiratory" (ahem) floor, complete with its own elevator, so he doesn't venture into it. But at another of his hospitals--Little Company of Mary in Evergreen Park--fully 1/3 of in-patients have COVID-19 and another 1/3 are awaiting test results. I pleaded with him not to go there, but he has two patients there (not in the ICU...yet) and insists he must see them Friday. I replied "at least don't go into the ICU," and he replied "I'll try, but I can't promise that." He has surgical masks & gloves--but no N95s, gowns nor a face shield. I remain terrified that I'm going to lose him. He made me promise not to allow him to be intubated if (when?) the time comes and to just let him go gently, pumped full of drugs.
I have to go to CVS tomorrow to pick up a prescription refill (alprazolam) which by Federal law cannot be delivered (it's controlled). CVS lacks a drive-through window. I will wear a surgical mask under a double layer of polyester fake-silk scarf, plus rubber gloves (which I will wash thoroughly before removing them). Gordy's passport (!) arrived today (he still votes here), so I will drop it through his mail slot. Hoping he comes to the door with his dog Dot, whom I've seen only in photos. Can't touch either of them, but it'll be nice to see them if only through glass.
Tried to FaceTime with my sister today, but it wouldn't work on her iPhone so we just did a regular voice call instead. To alleviate bordeom, she's started to do some cleaning (now that their weekly cleaner can't come in any more), and is cooking like crazy. She discovered she has 5 boxes of matzo ball mix, so she had her daughter Marissa bring home some chicken parts--and made chicken matzo ball soup from scratch!
Leftovers from last night's pork chop dinner for me, plus a splash of that Chianti. Bob ate at the office, but was glad to finish off my mashed sweet potatoes, plus pico de gallo and fresh chips Whole Foods delivered this evening. I'd gotten some low-sodium V-8 earlier in the week, so he had a Bloody Mary--our official DOTD.

Good Morning, Loungettes!Happy Twofer Tuesday! Waking up to a winter wonderland this ayem. Sadie and I are both getting tired of snow. I'd rather be dealing with mud, at least then it would be getting warm enough to sit out on the deck on weekends. Ah well, it will get here. Sadie is being particularly silly this ayem:
Librarian--Your son is buying a son from you?LOL!
Goldie--can you take out the mask filter and rinse it between uses? And we got even more white stuff overnight! It actually snowed all day yesterday. I agree it is the younger generation doing most of the spreading of the virus right now, but I've also noticed that the people getting seriously ill and dying are starting to get younger as time goes by. They may find out they are not as invincible as they think. They'll find out too late, but they will find out.
Goldie-OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!
Goldie- hmm, wondering if I should buy one and some replacement filters. . . .
Jazzy--thanks for the reminder, Doc's day has totally slipped by me this year.
Cammy Cat--I am being honest, I know I tend to overwork, and I am seeing this stretch into June or July or even longer. I will keep in mind that Sadie can't make soup!Sorry to hear about your neighbors. So glad you and Joey have such a good relationship.
Chi--I can understand your fear for your DH. He is at risk just walking into a hospital, no matter how careful they are being. I also understand where he is coming from about seeing his people at Little Company of Mary. It's a struggle.

In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup water and the sugar to boiling, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Add the thyme, remove from the heat, and let stand until cool. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing to extract as much liquid as possible. Cover and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
