Mornin girls! I'm home. Bummed I missed out on the shots, but looks like I would have had to have a rumble with NM for one! (j/k of course)

No snow here, just a tad chilly. Single digits at nite, but sunny and 40 during the day. Sure was nice in Phx. Sunny and 70 PERFECT!

Love the drinking squirrell Dee...good one!

Junie, you crack me up! SOOOOOOOO EEEEEY!

HD, get your woosie butt outta the corner...or we'll have to "B" slap ya!

E, glad you're feeling better...but sounds like you could be over doing it. Careful girl, or we'll have to "B" slap you too.

Things were fine at the Oncs office. Tumor markers normal and I already knew the mammo was fine. The bone density test did show some deterioration of my bones. Damned Arimidex! And I have some osteopina (sp) whatever the hell that is, in my right hip. I assume it is something like arthritis or osteoperosis? Will have to look it up, but not one of my priorities, as there isn't much I can do about. He said if it got too much worse and the the bone thing, he would put me on Fosamax. Thank you BC - The gift that keeps on giving! I wish the hell it would stop already! I've had enough gifts, thank you very much!

Think I'll have some of that champagne!

Hugs to everyone. I miss you guys when I'm gone! Kiss

goldie--I would've shared the shots--they were just so pretty I wanted to taste them all! Besides, I'm sure the TT's could have mixed up more if we'd needed them. Osteopenia is the fancy medical word for bone deterioration that isn't bad enough to be osteoporosis. And I LOVE the Pinot More wine!
wahine--I second the motion to chow down at the buffet! The boys have out done themselves, again!

Hunky-hope you're getting your energy back. In the mean time be kind to yourself. Lipo may seem like ‘minor' surgery compared to the rest of the procedures we go through, but it is still surgery, it still requires anesthesia and that takes a toll on the body and mind. Make sure you get enough sleep-that's when the body does the most healing.

Hi, Grakenmom, good to see you!

Sorry you got stuck working the holiday, Jaybird. That is a real bummer, especially when you aren't expecting it.

Dee- I love the drinking squirrel! I think I may have a squirrel or 2 in my attic, but then I found a dead mouse under the kitchen sink this morning. YUCK!

My news from the appointment week from h@!! is: bone density is normal, one of the best reports my onc has seen in a long time. Lupron shot delayed due to a "scheduling mistake" (this after I specifically had them call the pharmacist to check on the date when the appointment was made 4 months ago). Finally got it set up so I can get it from the local pharmacy and my PCP will "do the honors" on Friday. Mammogram "stable" after the usual "the doctor wants a few more views." Seeing white spots circled in red on your mammogram picture is not a fun feeling. I am so glad that was my last mammogram ever. At least I graduated to every 6 month appointments with the onc. So, I'm celebrating surviving the annual January appointment week torture session for 2010. Bring on the Champagne!!

    Hey Y'all,

Was sifting through my mail this am, it's been piling up so I figured I'd better take a look. Well, what do I find? A reminder from my Gyno that I am past due for my mammogram..WTH!  Taking a deep breath and pulling up a seat to the mimosa fountain. Someone in that office is going to get the big "B" slap!  LOL  Hope you all have a nice day:)

I know it's awful of me, but I kinda hope I get one of those automated reminders for a mammo next year so I can call them up and ask them to check with my insurance company and make sure the mammo will be covered since I don't have breasts anymore. . . . Wink

Yeah that's what I am talking about NM. I had bilats in March of last year. I think they need to get their automated system in check and make sure they know what they are doing. I'm gonna get a refill and head out to the pool to see who's all here today :)

Hi all! I hope I'm not crashing the party, but I'm happy to find a thread where drinking is okay. I think I drink more now than i used to. Usually beer is my drink of choice, but I'm a bit congested right now, so last night I had rum. Not a big fan of rum, but there's this drink called the voodoo bucket - I call it voodoo juice. It's got 6 different types of rum - no idea what kinds, don't care. It's quite tasty. Although, I just realized, I forgot my bucket. Ah well, next time. Cheers!

I know how you feel Dee. Like don't they even LOOK at your record...don't they even KNOW or CARE that you had bilat mast??? I was furious (besides heavily grieving) when I received a one wk followup appt for my late DH...from the dr that did the heart surgery in the hosp...ignoring me telling them of the probs he was having...releasing him to go home too early...then him dying on his 2nd day at home from those same probs he had in the hospital. I was livid when I got that call reminding him to come in for his one week appt....after he had died.

Glad you got back safely Lori! I think I have some of that "osteopenia" too....not enough for meds, but just to be aware of. I did up my calcium intake, though.

Glad you got your Jan appts over with, NM! That Lupron is rough...my DD had that for 6 mo when she was a college freshman..it put her into a temp early menopause. Hope you don't have SE's from it. YUCK on finding that dead mouse....but I guess thats better than seeing a live one you can't catch! Sorry about your squirrels in the attic too..I know mine has done tons of damage. Tomorrow it will finally be above freezing, so will go in and check. Yesterday I heard a gnawing in the wood again....sounds like another one is trying to get INTO the attic...sheesh!!!!!  HunkyD I may need your sharpshooter skills after all!

Welcome, redspark3...yummmm all that rum sounds like a MaiTai too! Bottoms up!

    More champagne please!

Dee--the other thing I sometimes think of doing is scheduling the appointment and showing up for it.  The center can't bill when they make a mistake, and they can't bill for it.  If it weren't for the fact that I know there are women out there who NEED the test and I don't want to take up time that could go to someone in need.

Redspark--no such thing as crashing this party--open to any and all!  Welcome!  The hot tub is right next to the raspberry martinii fountain. . .

wahine-You'd think there'd be some kind of connection between the medical records and the schedulers.  You'd think they would make a particular effort to make sure schedulers know when someone has died.  I mean, the doc has to sign a death certificate, so it's not like he doesn't know!  If docs don't talk to their own staff it makes you wonder if they actually talk to each other.  We already know they don't read each other's reports.  I'm so sorry you had to go through the appointment reminder thing for your husband.  I hope you called and gave them verbal what-for.  I'm taking the lupron so I can take arimidex b/c I couldnt' handle the depression with tamoxifen, so there's no way to tell if the hot flashes are from the lupron, the arimidex, or the fact that I was in borderline menopause when this started.  The hot flashes are bearable for the most part, and I take gabapentin (Neurontin) at night so they don't wake me up every couple of hours.  As for the mouse, at least this one was where I could reach it.  The owls hunt a lot closer to the house in the colder weather and drive them inside, I battle with them all winter long.  The worst is when one dies in the walls or somewhere unreachable. . .

My back is aching terrilbly today for some reason.  I'm headed for the hot tub--have one of the boys bring me something tasty with bubbles. . .

Welcome, Red--don't worry about a bucket--feel free to dip into mine--everyone else does!!!  It magically gets refilled here!

Goldie--glad you're home safe and that dr visits went well!!!!

Was dx with osteopenia (precurser to oteoporosis) years ago.   Did up calcium intake but have been dx with osteoporosis and have been taking Evista for last couple years.   Always something.  Will prob have a check-up bone density test at next gyn visit to see if stable or still deteriorating.   Always something!

NM--where in Maine do you live?   Sounds like you have lots of wildlife and critters to contend with as do several of us who live in the boonies.   I lived back east(Long Island) many years ago but am not much familiar with Maine.   I imagine it to be beautiful there.

The hot tub is perfect and I have staked out my little corner--not leaving 'til spring rolls around!!

Dee, I was thinking the same thing....show up for mammo and see what they say. But then NM made a very valid point, about taking up space for someone else....darn it.

Junie, you can have your little corner (you don't take up much room) but we'll have to pull ya out and dry ya out on occasion, or you'll prune dahling!

Kathy, I am having to do a double take on you! Not used to the big burly elephant!

Welcome Red, I think you may have started something, and on your first visit! VooDoo juice! I can see that one hanging around for awhile. Well, like HunkyD said, we do get a bit crazy around here, but it's all in good fun. And let me tell you.....we DO have fun. And on top of that, they are great bunch of gals and great support group too. So we hope you hang around, most don't!  (why is that girls?) If you stick around, we'll give you the tour and introduce you to our Tattie Tenders!

Think I'll be back at Pau Hana to dip into Junie's bucket.....LOL!

Hugs and cheers to my lounge lizards

junie--I live in central Maine.  On a map of the state the closest sizable town is Bangor.  I was born and raised on Mount Desert Island of Acadia National Park fame, so I still consider myself a coastal gal.  There is a lot of wildlife where I live--part of the reason I bought this house was becuase of the location.  Only 5 miles from I95, but you'ld never know it.  There have been evenings when I have had to stop on my way home and wait for deer to get clear of the road.  One evening I was standing at the end of my driveway with my dog on her leash, waiting to cross the road and pick up my mail.  I could see a car coming, very slowly, just dark enough for headlights, and I could see an animal in front of the car.  I thought one of the neighbor dogs had gotten loose, took a good hard hold on my dog's leash and got ready to see if I could get renegade doggy out of the road when he got closer.  My plan ran into a snag--the animal wasn't a doggy, it was a yearling deer trotting up the middle of the road.  He trotted right past me and my dog, trotted up my driveway and off into the woods behind my house.

Then there was the morning that I woke up to the dogs barking.  My house is buit into a hill, so my bedroom window is not quite second story off the ground, so I was a little surprised to see something in the window.  It was just light enough to see a shape in the window.  I put on my glasses and turned on the light and looked out the window to see a bull moose looking in at me.  This guy left foot prints in the snow the size of dinner plates.

Never a dull moment around my place!

NM, sounds like some precious moments. The only thing I hate about most of those, are that they are over in a matter of moments...sometimes seconds!

Here's to wild life and may they all stay in YOUR yard!

I've met Stephen King a few times, mostly at formal events like the Firestarter premier and fundraisers.  I've seen him, Tabitha and/or the kids in teh local stores on occasion, usually the grocery store.  Apparrently horror kings and their families eat hamburger and chicken just like the rest of us.

    What a fun thread!

Forgive me for not reading all pages of it though!

I worked for a major adult beverage manufacturer and marketer for close to 20 years before I retired. (They own Jack Daniel's, Korbel Champagne, and various wines, among lots of other alcohol beverages.)

I am a firm believer that alcohol consumption in moderation is not only not harmful but beneficial as well.

    But I might be biased!

My favorite drinks are generally made with tequila or vodka. But I do like some Chilean wines, and Bonterra wines as well.

You might want to read back,at least, to the New Years Eve Party we had, sorry you missed it. It was a grand time. Pull up a stool, or grab floatie for the pool and we'll have Pants or Jocks (our Tattie Tenders) bring you a drink. What'll ya have?

    Ok Dee, what is SOSDD?

Junie, I'm gonna have one of the boys fill your bucket. I know I could have them get me my own....but they taste so much better from yours!

Hope everyone has a great day, Lori

Hi Connie and welcome to the HTL! Its almost "pau hana" (finished with work) time, so I will be joining you soon....think I will dive into the pool though instead of the hot tub. My hot flashes DO NOT like hot tubs lately....LOL! Might head into the casino first and see if I can spot junie....she might either be there or looking for Pants to fill up her ML bucket...for some reason everyone keeps emptying it for her...HeHeHe! But our TT's try to keep filling the beer buckets, the mimosa and raspberrytini (sp?) fountains, and mixing all the other drinks. We sure keep them running...maybe thats why they look so buff...   This is a FUN place to be!!!

    Okole Maluna!

Oh, boy it has been a long, busy day today.  I am brain fried!  Pants, dearest, please bring me something excruciatingly yummy and potent enough to put my poor abused brain cells to sleep for a while.  Something green, perhaps.  Or blue.  Or pink.  Or red.  Or clear.  Aw, heck, as long as it's liquid I'll be perfectly happy!  Have we hired a masseure yet?  My feet are beat--I could really use a good foot rub.  Ah, Pants, what have you there for me? A raspberry martini?  In a beer stein?  Bless you!  What's that?  Oh--you're moving the raspbetini fountain over next to my lounge chair.  You are so thoughtul, Pants.  You want me to do what? Take my socks off?  So you can massage my tootsies?  Absolutely.  Aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Well, cheers to all - I'm on vacation! When I chose this week I'd wanted to be out of town. That was before I decided on a re-model of the upstairs so no money to vacation with, just enought to buy some extra wine to get drunk at home! Surprised

The current good news is that my contractor and I came to an unspoken agreement about the tub. I wanted it fix, the fixer said he could do any better so the contractor waled away. BUT there is a leak in the pipe leading to the septic which was supposedly fixed twice alredy and the worker (the one who f-ed up my tub) was supposed to fix it again but thus far hasn't shown up. I'm not pushing the issue but if I have to get a real plumber in here I'm going to sue for the cost.

Anyway, the upstairs is still not done as I need to get a good painter in to do a good job to make up for the not-so-good job the contractor did. I can then move back upstairs, I'm hoping within a month's time. I'm going to really celebrate then!

In the mean time I'm trying to stay warm and alcohol sure does seem to help! Smile

    Salut!
