Kymm....  Important to find out what chemo would be recommended and why.  And also the duration.  The worry is distant recurrance and you don't want to be in that crowd.

I am coming from the point of view of someone who signed up for a treatment protocol that was brutal.  (SIX dose dense AC followed by SIX dose dense Taxol.)  I got through just fine.  The best guess is that gives me a survival benefit of something like 4% over the standard which was 4 of each.  For me, that was worth doing.

I wouldn't do chemo either for a 1-2% benefit.  But you don't have the option of hormonal therapy.  So in this context, chemo is much more important.

Good luck.  I remember drinking extra wine when I was going through the diagnosis and treatment discussions.  But do talk to your oncologist. - Claire

Just hear from my sister and then news is just horrible for her husband. They give him 6 mos without any treatment and it will be very painful. Or he can try chemo - 60% chance of success but apparently with a very intense schedule with horrendous drugs...... he can have a little radition but since he has already had some in the same place they can't give him much more. They had hoped the place was high enough up to be a new place. He just turned 72 and is in great shape, scuba dives and runs a charter sailing business - very fit. They are already talking to hospice and trying to get a second opinion in Boston. My sister and I don't get along very well, but I am devastated for her as he is her life and from day one she has totally adored this man. I'm just so shocked I guess I really thought he would just have more treatment and be fine.....

sorry to monopolize just so upset....

Kathy - Paul McDonald was awesome! So was James Durban - he's our local fave. Congrats on getting your surgery moved up - remember when we didn't want to have surgery! I was so excited for my revision... they made me wait 6 months from the botched installation to see how everything would settle. Sorry bout the broken glass. Our plumber cracked a tile in the bathroom a couple of years ago and didn't say anything. When I called his office they said he had already quit but they did pay for the repair.

Claire - I love cab-merlot blends... I have a very nice Bordeaux Blend awaiting an appropriate meal.

Lori  - that drink looks yummy even though it was posted at 4AM my time. But when else would you want a Red Bull chaser? It does look a little like Hunkydory. I like NM's version as well! I'll take one of each, Pants.

NM - thanks for the Wii encouragement. My kids and DH said they aren't interested but since DH is going out of town this weekend, maybe I could go shopping and have it set up before he gets back to protest.

I'm making granola for DH to take to his mom. She has me pegged for the granola-eatin-vegetarian-hippy girl and was shocked when I got bc. One time when they visited I served homemade yogurt and granola with fruit for breakfast. I couldn't believe they had never eaten granola before or yogurt without processed sugar. Why is that some women lay in the sun and go to tanning salons, breath LA air, smoke, eat all the wrong things, drink like fish and take hormone therapy for years, but granola girl gets bc?

This weekend is shaping up to be quite exciting! I rescheduled my work on Friday evening (to today) so other than getting my car repairs done and getting my car back in time for afternoon carpool, seeing DD2 off to her first driving lesson, and preparing dinner for a few friends, I will have an easy day (unless Thursday's meeting turns into a task list for me). Maybe I'll get the Wii set up before my friends come over in case the wine we'll be drinking makes us feel like dancing with our dogs.

*shyly entering the HTL*......as I haven't had time to read back on the pages I missed yet! Been super busy, and now trying to polish silver and wash crystal and get things back where they belong....thank god I took pics, as it is taking forever anyway.

Yes Gail, Paul was fantastic (I like Rod Stewart, but liked his version better!), and I like your guy James too....he was amazing last night. I think there are 5 that are so distinctive, that I hope those 5 make the cut! I am SO ecstatic about my "revision" surgery, but I guess it isn't really a revision...mostly cutting out the fat that showed up on the sides (under my arms), and then just a dab of fat injected into an area that is a bit concave, on the side of a boob. I really am tickled over the results of my recon...they really look great! One of his patients went to MDAnderson for something (and they do tons of recons there), and everyone had to see her boobs as they couldn't believe how great they looked. So I feel very fortunate to have such a great PS. Hope you can get everything done! And having guests for dinner too....wow. Hope you do get a Wii....we don't have one as I don't think I would use it enuf, but my DD's and their families love it.

Stanzie, OMG that is such sad news. He sounds like a real fit, active guy. A friend in NH has a bro in law that had cancer really bad, and his only option (after having surgery) was also a case of very intensive chemo...made him extremely sick. BUT last prognosis is really good....and this was very recent. I thought he wouldn't make it, so was ecstatic about the latest news. My bro-in-law passed from cancer a little over a yr ago, but he went extreme and kept having "treatment" in Mexico. I do hope your bro-in-law will be able to tolerate the strong tx if he decides to go that route.....and that he can fully recover and live many more yrs. So sorry to hear that, though.

Will catch up later....I PROMISE....well I will try anyway! Going to babysit tomorrow and then off for the weekend to the casinos. Want to get a lot done b4 we go.

    ChEARS!

Hot Pants has been laggin on my dwinkies dis week and my tongue got stuck on a frozen pipe (good one HD).

AStorm – (pg 423) LOVE the corgie in snow boots pic and the WD race – so cute!!! Read about your DH complaining about your cats…that was a problem I faced when I had my orange tabby…I think he was jealous of how snuggly we could be and of course as I’m married to a neat freak and the cat shed and liked to dig in his kitty box and get litter all over, it was always stressful. Still would like to get a cat some day when we settle down again. The “you hate me” cat pic was so funny! Also love the Deadly Yellow Snow, so appropriate around here. And your words to the other gals here were wonderful, you are such a smartie!

Wahine – I was sorry to read about another surgery, but you sound good about it and glad the schedule got moved up, we'll get the bus ready…I so loved reading about showing off your boobs to the scheduling lady and wearing an ooops tube top – so funny! OMG more KILZ, oh you stay so busy!! No pipes broke during the freeze, now it’s much warmer even though snowing – it’s actually 40F outside, just had a bad cold spell here, but now it’s better and I’m hoping for spring soon! Your house and painting and art work sound so beautiful.

Dorothy – I love reading your posts! Your DD’s dorm sounds delightful and glad she did it on a budget. Aaarrrggghh I’m so sorry to hear your titty is giving you trouble again, it’s such a nightmare trying to heal…I am so so so sorry you are having to deal with this! Yes, you just have to deal with whatever is uffingkay thrown at you! We all feel like jumping off the bridge sometimes, but I’ve come to the conclusion that that would somehow, I don’t know how, but somehow that would only make things worse, so gotta deal, man, I’m sure worried about you. My first lump got a seroma in it and that took so long to finally heal, I thought it never would and it kept draining and freaking me out. My doc said to just keep washing daily with soap and water and let it drain, I still have boxes of pads!! Darn I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with this!!

Chrissy – I love your new avatar, you look great and the little one is adorable! And yes, no worries about shapes and sizes – on my own bod there are quite a variety of lumps, blops and sagging this and thats! Any way you slice ‘em I think Dotty’s right (♥)(♥) no matter what! I’m soooooo glad to hear you are doing well. That is great news and I’ll be thinking of you with best wishes on the bone scan! So glad Tinker is okay too!

Stanzie – So sorry to hear about your BIL having to get chemo and rads...I sure hope he does well. It sucks so bad that you can be so totally healthy and have this sneaky little bastard slowly undetected aiming to wreak havoc! Wow Stanzie, regarding the young woman, that does sound like a big jump…would a doctor do that?

Kymn – oh look a map, that’s cool. I’m only about 30 min from Canada, not really that far from Calgary, maybe 10 hours. LOL at the things you can learn from a cat! -50.8F! And I was complaining about -10F! One year we got -30F and I thought that was wicked. Your house sounds beautiful! And I do love your new avatar, so pretty! And such good news, cancer free, oh I’m so so so happy for you! I had been given the option of doing or not doing chemo and I chose to have the chemo…it’s a hard choice, but it was doable. I know you will make the right choice for you. Chemo brain is actually fun and you learn a new language, mine was Beanglish, you might develop Kymnlish! Yes, Beesie has helped me a few times too, she’s really cool and in Canada I believe.

NM –LOL at the VA Colonoscopy cartoon…somehow I’ve avoided one of those. Love the Cheshire Cat DOTD!! Darn carpal tunnel! I have struggled with something like that for a long time. Seems that computer work makes it worse, so I switch my mouse from hand to hand. At the factory our policy was to have workers stop and do exercises, stretches every so often to try to prevent it. So glad your tech was kind to you during x-rays. After a kidney stone I had to have one of those fleet preps so they could x-ray…still don’t know how I survived and how I got from my toilet to the one at the hospital without getting covered in $hi#! Sounds like you had a bad day that day, I’ve been having a bad week, Spaceballs sounds good. Thanks for the frozen pipe tip, we did sumpthin like that and got em unfrozen. Love the frozen pipe DOTD!! So glad to hear you got the snow shoes out and liked it, now you’re inspiring me to get ours out too.

HD – I was so glad to see ya again, but couldn’t help notice you have a weird expression – wassup wi’that? Is it from the PT? Love your hammock pic – LOL LOL! We’ve tried keeping water dripping at night and it keeps the water flowing, but the septic line froze – yuck-O!

JBinOK – Can I join you for a double too? Clink clink??

Dee – Thanks for popping in with a sudsy Sunday.

Junie – Sorry bout the big hospital bill – yuck-O! LOL at your note taking and sneaking photos! LOL at Dorthy abbreviated, no that doesn’t look good at all – ha ha ha! Geawd, isn’t there some way to use that tubing for something useful like making gin? Good luck with the PT. I’ll join you for a bucket of dog beers by the pool!

Claire – Thanks for checkin up on me. Hope your weather in Seattle is not too awful and that you are getting out for lots of fun riding and skiing. So we have two Tinkers??? Oh that is a wonderful name! Dang, Snoqualmie closed due to accidents, sorry to hear that, it’s awful to get stuck in that traffic. Beautiful pictures, thanks for posting them. The cascades are magnificent.

Karen – Oh cool, I’ll have some red wine with you too! Good luck with the GS Cookies!

Goldie – Oh I love your Girls Just Wanna Have Fun photo – you are both so beautiful!! Good luck with the cleaning…DH got all our (my) junk piled up in boxes in the attic and made room for us (me) to get to them. So now I (he) will go through them to decide what stays and what goes…wish me (him) luck! Wow I didn’t even notice you were hairless! Love the Leaky Buttery Nipple, that’s so freaking perfect!

Don't know what my problem is lately, just in a weird mood. Prolly not enough vodka. Definitely not enuf dog beers. So I'm taking my crabby little saggy ass out to lie in the sun on a big ol comfy lounge chair with a bucket of dog beers and gigantic pile of Doritos Nacho Cheese Flavored tortilla chips - ya know the ones that get your fingers and mouth all orange and gross looking?? I think Dotty needs to get one of those wooden spoons and slap this whiney pooey attitute off the planet. BC Sucks. I love you gals and as always delight in reading your posts and lookin at the clever pics and toons. I am thinking of you all every day even though I'm a sulky lil piss ant at the moment. Wanna join me?? Tequila shots? Dog Beers, Rum and anything?

Well, cheers and titz out..Whiney Bean

Stanzie.....sorry about the BIL news, but being fit makes getting hammered by chemo a lot easier.  Hopefully, he goes that route and that's the end of things.  I hope they do a second opinion in Boston....this is where important to go to a major cancer center.

I am working on networking today and some of the nonprofit work.  Also helping out my former business partner with some career stuff.

My cycling club is emailing back and forth so have to keep up with that too.

Overall gloomy here, but saw the most amazing rainbow over the Sound this morning.

Haven't heard from Beans recently.  Get worried as 4' of snow in the Cascades over the past week.  You don't want to know about the driving. - Claire

    Hi Claire! Hi Kymn!

Dear Loungettes, my own sparkling conversation got me wondering about piss ants so I did a search:

    ant

And it turns out piss ant isn't even a dirty word and you can spell it piss ant or pissant, so maybe I won't be banned from this site.

     pissant

Now a weather update: 40degF, snow has turned to pissant rain, it's a mess out there today. The ground is covered with pissant snow and now it's raining pissants. Ah, me. What to do, what to do. I hope you are having a happy pissant hump day:

    hump day

    beavis

    speed hump

    hump day

Is it happy hour yet? I willy willy willy needa dwinkkkie-poo...

    Cheers!

As long as you aren't being "blown away" by that raging windstorm out there, Beans.  Really howling and evil looking.  To say nothing of intermittent rainstorms.

Enough to take my thoughts to "humping" in the other sense of the word.  (I know, me bad.)

However, I have been working away on projects and in doing the career stuff for my former business partner.  Interesting how some thorny stuff gets into perspective after a bit of time goes by.

I am thinking of turning leftover pork into a Hungarian sauerkraut dish tonight so some sweeter wine to go with.  Will let you know how it all works.

BTW - in terms of "pissant" you missed the old philosphy student ditty......

    Emanuel Kant...

    Was a great pissant!

Yes, I did read the Treatise of Pure Reason and also the Treatise of Pure Practical Reason.  However, Kant was very readable compared to Hegel and Heidegger.  My head still hurts when I think of the lot.

No wonder, drinking was a favorite student pasttime in German university towns.

he he he - she said Kant - he he he! (sorry more Beavis humor, def not on the caliber of Hegel & Heidegger, sorry I'm hopelessly juvenile!! he he he!) Hungarian saukraut sounds fantastic! Now off for a jog in the pissant rain.

Kymn - that's what pushed me over the edge to do chemo, thinking about my family. They all sort of expected me to do all I could and I would expect that of them too. If you do do chemo, the women here will be of such help to you. I'll let HonkyD tell you how to label your pills - that kept me LMAO every day of it. If you do do chemo you will get through just fine, I know how scary it seems at the beginning. Congrats again on cancer free!!! That is such great news.

Now, how's our DorK doing? just kidding DorthyK, blame it on junie!

Hi Kath - sorry I bumped into your post...will see you later for happy hour...cheers!

OH, Stanzie-what sad news. I can't imagine how you and your family are feeling right now. It's just not fair.

AStorm-granola girl is another example of "IT:S NOT FAIR" I've seen some videos of people dancing with their dogs, they all look like they are having so much fun! Some are pretty creative, too.

Wahine-since when do you do anything shyly? Sounds like what you are having isn't a revision so much as just a touch up. It's still surgery, my good woman!

Beanie-get your tongue off that pipe! Pants! We need a good HOT drink here!

Claire-I thought of you when my afternoon snow storm was lit up by lightening and the house shaken by thunder! It was coming down good and hard and fast for about 5 minutes.

G'day ladies. Alot happening here. For some reason, I read the posts from the bottom up today and realized that was the reason for my confusion. I got great fun news yesterday, DH and I are going to AC on 3/20 to be in the audience of "The Price is Right" aka the Bob show (I still call it the bob show, oh how I miss him). I have loved that show for so many years and just cannot believe I will be there. We are staying over two nights and I am taking two days off work for FUN, imagine that??!

And you girls can call me DorK, I am not easily offended and find that ucking-fay funny! They call me DK at work or Decline/DKlein (my last name is Klein). Imagine having me as your mortgage loan processor?

Shitttty-tiitty is still dripping but not as much. I see my PS tomorrow and hope to get the stitches out. Thanks Beans for telling me that there is hope. This area has always been unwilling to heal properly.

Stanzie, I wish I could come and give you a hug n a drink, give you another hug, then drink more. I can't imagine the shock that family is feeling now. You are a great soul for caring so much despite the relationship status with your sister. This is one of those times where ya need to Let Go and Let God. I will certainly pray for your BIL, what is his name?

NM, great pics but can you get the DOTD up a little earlier? This DorK does not like to drink alone in the am before work. I know yesterday was your long day but thatis no excuse (jk).

Beans, I have really missed you. I see some Beanglish coming back in your posts but only those fluent in beanglish would understand.  If you were talkiing outside the country of Beanland, no one would understand a word you said while taking the dreaded chemo. I forgot about the names you called it, can you remind us? Your humor got you through it and I hope you hang around to help Kymn get through her treatment. If you can do it, she sure can. This BC $hit is NO mamby-pamby land.

Kymn, I am SO glad that you are choosing treatment.  Again, we will be with you every step of the way. We will jump on the bus and hold your hand if you need us.

Kathy, great to see you. I missed you. Were you girls talking about American Idol? Damn, I missed it last night, it is not supposed to be on on Tuesday, wtf? Seems Fox is playing with my head too.

I am going to hit send now because I have a feeling I am going to loose this post, I swear that there is a conspiracy against us drunks. That and my numb hand and fast fingers.....I will be back, Pants line up the Jack n Cokes for me. Hoping to see Kymn at her pink leopard stool next to my pink leopard stool that she let me copy.

as promised, I am back! I got me a fresh drink and am Claire's place for dinner, then Beans' for dessert (pissants on the menu?)....

Karen, you sure are busy. I would be stressing in your shoes.

Stanzie, wishing your DD well with her driving. I remember those days and they were stressful.

Lori, wow, you do not seem old enough to have a 31 year old child. I am going to have to investigage. I am surprised that you do not think you look like your DD, I was serious in saying that you girls could be twins. Maybe it was the "hair"?

HD, cracking up at your comment to Lori about the drink matching your face. OMG, it does.  And when I read your comment about missing Beans, you wrote"hope Beans shows up, at work", I thought that Beans was maybe heading your way. I hope to see you again tonight.

Kathy, I hope you can pop in for some more dwinks, glad you made happy hour! Wow. you have been so biddy this week (busy in Beanglish).  I hope that you get your rooms together and come back to us. I have missed you. You are so full of energy and I want some. Have you remembered your jumping jacks?

Junie, I see you lurking about with your camera.  For the record, that is NOT me you see fondling Pants' pants lol. I think it is Kymn.  Wink Ehhh, you and your dork camera....okay I love ya anyway. Sending you dog beers by the truckload, you deserve it.

NM, thanks for your kind words. I hate beotchin all the time and get sick of hearing myself. My war wound is throbbing now cuz I am not taking meds and it comes and goes. Udda man!! uHH, I mean WOman. oh noes, iz mes speakingBeanglistical terminology? Yikerss. Sure I will share. Too for yooo and one fer mi'. LMAO at the pic I just stole. So cute.

*****waaaa-termellon kuelher , JD N COKE above ......brought to you by Native Mainer (nameless, hmmm).

Beans, it is nice to see your face again. Seeing you makes me smile. Oh, sorry HD, sore subject.

Chrissy??? Paging Chrissy, g'day, but where are ya? I have drinks here for you. WAKE UP NOW and join me. I wanna cry cuz I miss ya. Seeing your face upclose and personal warmed my darn heart and made me love ya more. Sawry, I am getting mushy, Jocks, bring me a kleenex??

Claire, I am going to switch over to Internet Explorer, there is something I need to copy/paste. BTW, I will be there in about two hours for dinn-dinn, don't let me down. BTW, I am now wearing a pedometer round the clock and am walking it!! I won't brag about my stats but I am taking baby steps, nontheless steps.

Dorothy.....am laughing because of course I know the song.  However, "Clair" is the male version of the name.  I am sure the song wasn't intended that way, but that is where my perverse mind goes.

There was a guy growing up with the name of "Clair Demeritt".  "Clare" is the Irish version and works for either sex as is also the name of an Irish county.

"Tinker" is interesting as a surname because almost no one in North America knows what the name really means.  No, not someone who "tinkers" with things, but more like a wandering day worker, peddlar, and horse thief.  So not the most honorable of professions.

That was the family story of how we got here....kicked out of the mother country a few centuries back for stealing horses.

Thus the definition of "Tinker's Damn" as being worthless due to excessive cursing.  (Have been known to do this.)

But the song is fun anyway.  I will have the goulash ready in a trice.  Got some Gewurtztramminer to go with. - Claire

Raising my glass of Gewurtz to you.  I know it's hard when you are looking down the chemo road.  Take a look at my picture.  That could be you 6 months after finishing everything.  I sure get the "no dress rehearsal" now, even if I was there before.

I am out of the loop with television as I don't have one.  I do watch some shows online, but television was never my thing.

Anyway, wanted you to know that I am here raising my glass to you. - Claire

OMG!!!  Have tried to do a speed-read and cannot believe how much fun stuff to try and read through and absorb.....so, DorK is going to be on Price is Right????   Remind us all again 'cause he'p me pls, have started watching that show and laffin my butt off!!!!!!  Fingers crossed that you will get "picked" and go on to the final showcase!!!!!

Must share my "gamblin story" with those of you who know how I keep that 1-800--number handy!!   We fired up the portable oxy tank and out to dinner for taco night (and some Keno play....)    Well, my fav numbers to play didn't come up; DH picked some numbers that were funny to us--nada......so, I just filled out a quick pick ticket for a couple dollars.     Had to go pee and when I got back, DH  was really weird--he said, I think we won some money....and I think he's jacking with me so I'm like ok--$2?????    woooo-hooooooo, cashed out $155....bestest we've ever done!!!!   (can't wait til next taco nite!!!)

ok--'nuff about all that!!!!   Big hugggssssss to all......will try to seriously catch up manana--but I am still semi brain-dead.     Did some outside exercises today and am pretty tired.   DH just had an old bud pull in who drove all day from somewhere back east.....not sure what his agenda is (we both thought to borrow money!!!  Ha!!!)    DH has already mentioned the dr bills outstanding.....so, will be an interesting couple of days!!!   Don't send the bus just yet, but give me cyber hugs and hold my hand!!!!    off to la-la-land for now!!!!

Yipppy Chrissy, I am thrilled for you, I was scared for you and now am breathing a big sigh of relief. Here's a toast to no progression!!  Clink. oops, I broke your glass, I get you another now.  I am beyond relieved, I know you were probably sweating it. Head to the percofountain with me and let's celebrate!!

Claire, funny story about the name Tinker. I had never heard of a guy named Claire, I have never met one either. That seems weird to me. You are wealth of knowledge. Oh, thanks for dinner, it was good. Now where's breakfast (hint hint, NM)??

Junie, congrats on your big win, yeah, beer money!! Let's all drink to that. I lift my glass to you.

Kymn, wtg in keeping your confidence up. A big hug to you,  I just missed you last night, damn time zones!

Beans, so nice to see your smiling face again, keep that pic up, for me, pleeeeeeze, wif suga on top???

To all, happy Thirst-dey. I have to shower then off to the PS. I hope for good news on shitty-titty. Have a great day, I will report back from headquarters (work lol).

Love you girls (♥♥) and you ladies too hehe!! Smile Cool

Dorthy-reading the posts from the bottom up must be incredibly confusion creating! It can be hard enough to follow our drunken ramblings when read in order! I'll work harder on getting the DOTD up earlier-I'll re-prioritize my morning routine, and get onto the boards before putting the dog out to piddle, but AFTER coffee. No coffee, no coherence for this chicky. And it has to be in a BIG mug.   And leave me a few pissants, please! When you see your PS ask for a referral to a wound care clinic. It's time you got that titty healed up, and a specialist's attention certainly won't hurt.

Looks like we need multiple watermelons, one for vodka, one for rye, one for seagrams, one for gin, one for rum, one for scotch, one for peppermint schnapps. . . .

Kymm-the bar's open 25/8 here. The extra day and hour is for those of us who need a little extra time to catch up on things sometimes. Looks like the rye spiked watermelon is for you! One way to get a little extra "help" past the nurses at chemo time. A big bowl of watermelon will look sooooo healthy, and no one will know the difference!

Karen-sorry you're in a bad mood. Did anyone tell you about the Fukitol dispenser next to the percotini fountain? That's the dispense you see all of us stop by every so often.

Junie-Now THAT is the way to eat tacos! Good win for you! Have a good sleep and we'll put the bus on standby for you!

Yeah for Chrissy! What do you want your special watermelon spiked with?

    DOTD:  Atomic Watermelon

    1 oz Midori Melon Liqueur
    1 oz Vodka
1 oz Sweet and Sour Mix

Oh NM, you have outdone yourself yet again. I am salivating for that watermellon soaked with JD, I may just take it to work with me today, hehe!! You rock girl. Thanks for the great suggestion, I will ask my PS about a wound care clinic, never heard of such a thing. Thanks for rearranging your schedule just for me, a big hug to ya!! Have a wonderful day and thanks for serving up breakfast, yummmy!
