how about drinking?

Scuba, Glad to have you here in the lounge, but very, very sorry we had to meet this way! If you ask us, most of us still drink, but depends on what meds you might be on, etc. You can drink cyberly with us here, with no hangovers! I want to write more, but trying to get ready to see my SIL in the triathlon and he has already been in the water, so hoping we get ready and get there to watch at least part of it!!! The galz here are AMAZIZNG, and I think you will enjoy being a part of our group! Big welcome to you, Kathy

Eeeccckkkkk.....sounds like flooding in inland NJ.....also the Delaware River from NY, thru Philly, and NJ sounds like it has flooded over its banks. DorK, is your home ok? No more posting for awhile from me (yuppers, breathe a *sigh* of relief goils), as gotta git to the Triathlon. Stay safe and stay dry!!!!

Thanks wahine, fortunately my pain now managed with OTC stuff. Will start tamoxifen at some point. Am now just trying to come to terms with the new realities. Already have to wait to go scuba diving until the expander implants come out and permanent ones go in - not diving for 6 months is a major hit, not being able to have a good beer here and there would add insult to injury!

Help! I need to copy and past something! I've put it in word and now don't know how to do it! It is important for you all to see..... please......

Grrrrr this is all I get. I have made it on Safari - not firefox. I have copied it to word. I have a URL , I can copy and paste and still...... nothing.... occasionally I can do it but GRRRRRRRRR! What on earth am I doing wrong?

Ack! What am I doing wrong???

Stanzie, Do you want to email it to me and I will see if I can do it for you? OR, if Lori comes here soon, she is really good at doing that, as well as some of the others. Would be glad to be of some help if I can.
Scuba, I have never tried Scuba Diving, although have snorkled in many places. Must be awesome to do that! Some of the galz here have been (and are on) tamoxifen, and I do think they drink while on that. I had the bilat mast and recon, but didn't need any tx after that, so I am not up on what is allowed. HOWEVER, like you said, you don't want to give up EVERYTHING, and I don't see where a beer would do any harm. We have a Miller Lite corner in our cyber lounge, in honor of a dear friend and longest poster from this thread,Junie. You are welcome to enjoy that area, or pull up a barstool in our "Hot Tatties Lounge" aka the HTL, or jump in the pool and and swim up to the swim-up bar.
My SIL did so well in the race, except ended up with blisters on the sides of his feet (he said he felt them after the 1st mile...ouch),. When we were on the Arsenal, we passed him biking, at mile 17, which was neat. And it was HOT just standing there, so I felt empathy for all the racers....almost 600! Hoping to have them all over for dinner tonight. (LOL just read what I wrote...not all 600, just my DD's family, for dinner!).
Bottomz Up!!!!

Stanzie, you proly need help from our IT guru, Lori.
Yes, I am still typing with the mini- getting a bit better at it but still very slow.
RW, have a nice time today.
Where is our Beanie baby?? Miss you girl.
I am sitting outside in my parents yard and it is beautiful. Spending alot of time weather watching and hope to be able to catch our flight back to atlantic city tomorrow. My DD told me that the weather at home has been uneventful - hmmm.. I gues I will find out tomorrow. I am worried about a canopy on my deck, we should have taken the tarp down b4 leaving.I forgot to ask DDD if that is alright.
NM, I know you will not see this today but I have a question. I have fluid (lymphatic) accumilating across the cut in my back. It does not hurt but I am hoping it is not an emergency thing. I can call my doc when I get home tomorrow. He warned me tht he may have to asperate (sp)?. I noticed it lst night. It feels lilke the expanded TE, when I touch it, the fluid moves...darn, always something.
Hey Scuba, we are practically neighbors! And I can relate to your pain. I am five weeks post lat flap and 13 months post bmx. Not a fun ride. I am also banned from my pool and all swimming and bathing.I hate that part most as I love to swim. I hope things get better. I am glad you like beer and hope you stay with us here at our cyber lounge. Dese here ladies are just the best bunch of gals I have ever met (except ib, you know who you are, RW?? lol, jk) I only put my likker away for the day b4 and the dt after suregery and have drank most days.
Speaking of drinking, being here is cramping my style...I love my parents but they are not drinkers and both do not like it. I will not drink in front of them out of respect and fear. Even at age 50, I still want to please my folks and just can't do it.
My parents are soooo happy but I fear they will get depressed when we leave. My dad told me this morning that this is his life and it is not fun. SO sad. He has very very upbeat until this morning. I just love them so much, myheart aches. I think of moving here but really cannot leave NJ until my DD is out of college and on her own.
I will write later, feel like I am finally gettting used to this fn mini keyboard. Cheers, no fears and no tears (unless happy tears)!! Peace!
DorK
ps.....Chrissy, this time next week, we will be rocking the town upside down, yippppppieeeee!!! Soexciyinh....

DorK, Glad that it looks like you have not had any bad weather where you live....what a relief! You should have had some mini bottles in your luggage....then you could have added it to some coke....and not be suffering withdrawals!!! Nice of you to be so considerate of them, though. Do you think they would move up to NJ to be near you? OR would you really be able to move there after DD is out of college? Which place would you rather live at? Sure hoping your flights are still ok for tomorrow. It will be a sad day, leaving them...we will get teeny tiny and be with you and try to hold you up and make you giggle when you look at us in your purse (bring a big purse, please!), dwinking our very mini dwinks. (((HUGS))) for you, for tomorrow! Kath

Gotta start with a duck fart...

Oops, we might have to call out the FIREMEN to put out all the candles...
Note: Our little birdie had some cool pics for you, but neither of us could post it....was saved in a strange file, but they were very nice ones!!!!

Lorie, isn't today the 28th? is it today or yesterday....? I'm so off on all this. Anyway, Happy Happy Birthday! I had a page all done up but couldn't get it to post, Kathy was so sweet and tried to help me but no go... so here is what I've got. The cake was smaller about 3 min ago not sure why it blew up. Must be cause there are so many wanting to celebrate with you!0 -
Shoot, I can't find my birthday list! Stanzie, I was thinking yesterday because of the 0827 in her screen name, but could be wrong on that! Glad you were able to get some pictures posted! Shall we call her Theresa....? J/K! Funny what shows up when they get super-big. WIsh I could have helped you; bet Lori could have figured it out! PARTAY, PARTAY, PARTAY!!!!!

Did I hear there was a PAR-TAY? Is that right? Itsa Birthday? We got a birthday girl? Oh I would love to just say GIGANTIC HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES DEAR DEAR GOLDBUG!!

Happy Birthday! All jokes aside, Goldie, I wish you a wonderful birthday and many many more. I am sure hoping the thyroid thing is no problem. Just hope you have a great birthday!!

Oh Beanzie, I know Lori will LUV all of that! So cute, and funny! That first card has ALL the elements of our parties, and then some.
My DD, SIL and 3 g'kids just left....we had dinner here and just a nice evening. Trying to see if they might leave the middle one (almost 12) with us when they leave on Tues, and pick her up from us on Friday in Tunica. Hoping so, as we don't get a 1-on-1 too often, since they live 10-12 hrs away. SIL that does the triathlons (he will do a 1/2 ironman and a full ironman this yr too), never drank, but found out red wine is supposed to be good for runners, so it was nice FINALLY serving him wine tonight! Neither of my DD's drink...they don't know what they're missing...LOL.
Lori dear, hoping you had a wunnerful, wunnerful birthday! I am sure your DH took you somewhere special, and can't wait to hear about your weekend! Have another duck fart!

Wahine - so nice you had a great family eve and I hope you get to keep one of the grandkids, that would be so fun...didn't know you had a triathlete in the fam too, that is so neat...I have heard of those but never was into that much exercise. But I sure admire those who can do it, and so glad he can enjoy some wine, I do think it's healthy.
Oh, yeah and here's a Duck Fart cocktail for Goldie:
1/2 oz Jack Daniel's® Tennessee whiskey
1/2 oz amaretto almond liqueur
1/2 oz Bailey's® Irish cream
Layer ingredients in order as listed above.Happy Birthday!!

And here is how to make it:

I am still working on the two burgers I had at the church picnic. But since the picnic was dry (extremely odd for Episcopalians!!!!!), I am just now having some wine with some fruit and a snack.
Had a wonderful time and cycled both ways so feel a bit virtuous. Eliminated the parking hassle, and burned off one of the burgers. Stopped for blackberries on the way back.
Just watched the most glorious sunset over the Puget Sound.
Tomorrow is back to work and see if I can get the speeding ticket "deferred". Hoping something breaks for me this week. Am moving ahead though and feel good about life.
Hair is getting long and a bit shaggy, but still holding out for a trim. want it to get as long as possible, and hopefully this time will be a real shaping as opposed to something I can "grow into".
Really wonderful to be at this point.
Thankful that people in the NYC area were spared the brunt of the storm. Yes, it hit, but did not flood out the infrastructure as was feared. That would have been catastrophic. And not as bad as some recent nor'easters. Or Floyd, which I do remember.
I recycled the peach crumble I had made for the building BBQ for the church picnic, and everyone was happy. The people who ate it, and particularly me, as didn't have to make anything else. Or eat most of it myself. It looked a bit crumbly (imagine that) but I got away with it as packed in foil and then in my paniers.
So a major victory there too.
Tomorrow night, I get to try the Columbia River salmon I brought back from my travels. Will see if I can tell the difference between it and the other salmon out there. The Pacific snapper I made last night was beyond delish, and much fresher than even in Seattle.
Life is good. - Claire

Beans, Yeah, my SIL lost over 100 lbs about 1.5 yrs ago or so. He started running, etc at the same time, and although my DD looks like she is just 18, my SIL looks so young now, I kid her about robbing the cradle (they are both in their 30's)! He got their whole family running, swimming, biking, and the g'kids compete in the kids triathlons too! So I was glad we could make a semi-healthy dinner, as he is all into that too. Now if only I could get on the exercize band wagon!!!

Kathy, not sure what to do about thyroid, but I do think it's more pills! I have slacked off on my supplements, so I will pick back up on those. And YES, makes me very tired, I hate that! I am NOT one to just sit around and do nothing. Congrats to your SIL for pulling off the triathlon. We knew you meant to just have family over, but indeed it did sounded like you meant all 600.
Stanzie, I would love to try and help you. Hoping I see you have it figured out. Awwww, how sweet.......it was for ME! And a big cake means more for us to share, so don't worry about the big pic. Not like BCO is gonna run out of pages or space because of a large photo!
DorK, so glad you got to spend this time with your folks, and like Kathy said, would they move back to NJ? Also hoping to read that all is ok at your place. I also think you are suppose to leave today? ....or is it tomorrow? Well shoot! I hope you can make it home and your home is safe. Please keep us updated.
Scuba, welcome to our lounge. I am a beer drinker (not too many of them here) and I think Husker is the one that likes a good red beer every now and again. Hope you can stick around for some fun and cyber beers (or real ones) with us.
Beanie, sure hope you can get rid of all this crap that is taking you down, I just hate it. Should we send Dork's people?
Thanks you guys for all the cakes, cards and drinks and toasts. Beans that one card with the lampshade, that had to be at Junie's house! The day was actually rather uneventful, which is what I ask for. My b-day was the 27th, you are right Kathy, it's in my screen name 0827. As for the party, I think we should make it all week! I think DH has something up his sleeve for our anniversary. I'll try and get a pic of the planter and some other things in the Shady Lady this week sometime, I even have a lil sumpin in memory of Junie.
Thanks again you guys, you ARE THE BEST!

Hey all,
Lori

Hope you had a great birthday and have a great anniversary, how many years??
dorothy are you home safe and sound now? Is our Chrissy in the air as I type or has she landed in the good ol US of A yet. Wow Kathy your SIL is an inspriation. I ordered the Zumba video series this weekend. Just couldnt take how much weight I have gained so figured I would dance my way back into my old body lol. Sure hope it works cause I am feeling very depressed lately looking at myself. Try not to focus on the no hair, no eyebrows , no eyelashes and now fat but sometimes a girl just has to have a breakdown....sigh....
Welcome Scuba, I think in moderation...most of the time lol....is what we all here kind of live by. If I was feeling good during treatment I would have a drink here and there and now with it being summer you bet.Try not to google too much and read too much on the internet it can be very overwhelming and not all of it is true I learned. I scared myself silly at first with having a Triple negative diagnosis but am much more balanced these days with it only one breakdown a week...lol.....
Hope you are all doing well and have a great its not tuesday its not wed its not thurs its not fridday its not saturday its not sunday ....day...lol
Hugs Kymn

OMG - DorK's people...lemme give you the address where to send em!! LMAO - thanks Goldie!
Kymn - I wanna say I saw the pic you posted recently and you are just beautiful...sorry you are having some post treatment blues...that has been a problem for me too, but just hang in as I know you are and will. I think the dancing sounds like a great idea.
DorK - happy no mooney and can we start the Par-tay now? I think Frauline Katrinka needs a dwink!
Claire - so glad you sound like things are going well...good luck with the ticket!
Hope everyone has a great week!

Lori - Sorry I was off a day but hey what is unusual about that! LOL! Hope you had a lovely two days and yes I'm all for continuing through the week! Party! But might still be a bit toasty hot in your area.Yes, you were the one person I could not ask for help on that one - LOL!
DorK - how is your house and all?
Kymn- ummm Zumba? Will have to look that up - I'm not the most co-ordinated so hmmm?
0 -
LOL at all the pictures, you gals always bring a big smile to my face!!! Kymn, let me know if the Zumba works for you....I need to do something major too, and if it was fun too......
Had such a nice lunch out w/ my 2 DD's. Very special, with just the 3 of us, like old times. SIL that races, had all 5 g'kids! At least he is very fit, so could keep up with them. Beautiful day, but will be so sad tomorrow when they leave for TX. Still not sure if I will get to keep 1 g'dau for a few days or not.
Oh I love the pic you found of "DorK's people" Lori. Purrfect!!!
Happy dey B4 Tuesday!!!!
