Good morning, Loungettes! Bright sunny morning here, had to scramble to find another keyboard, my other one seems to have died. Maybe the Mojito I spilled on it last night did it in? Maybe it was just age. But I have a couple others kicking around, just pulled one out and plugged it in, and voila, back in business!
Wahine--keep in mind that I live in Maine--the routine here is every 3 years unless there are significant changes. I stopped having them done a long time ago when I decided I was never going to have chemo, and since there isn't anything they can do about esophageal cancer except take out the esophagus and put in a feeding tube, I would have no quality of life I enjoy eating, and while I don't mind working to eat better and lose weight, I am not interested in a life of never being able to eat again. Same with stomach cancer. Once they find it, its usually too far along to do anything other that take out the stomach and put in a feeding tube. Again, life without every being able to eat again. And I hear you about the meds and supplements: mine fill a good size box and spill over into a smaller one. Such a PIA, sometimes! Good luck with both appointments, I'm sure you will do just fine with both! Why are you having the upper scope done?
Mrs. Vino--Isn't Pintrest a fun site! I've just started on there, mostly collecting ideas for sewing and gardening but got a miscellaneous good stuff board, too! Amazing what you can find on there!
Wahine--haven't heard of dexitlant, will definitely look it up and check it out. Good thing to test the new GI doc on, too. Thanks!

Morning Goils...sorry I bee away soo long. Lots going on. My new baby, Bella, needs sooo much attention. Brother Baxter does look after her, she jes tooo little, only 3 pounds, to get outta da doggie door. Brought her home on Monday and byWeds she figured out how to get in thru dat door, but not out. Now...when she wakes up, I put her out, she come right back in and pee on da floor...ARRGGHH!
Been feelin puny last few days...Something wrong w/my left knee...Told my onco bout the increasing pain/discomfort when I saw her Jan 31. No advice. Now...damn thing swollen n I walk around like da gimp. Got call in to local PCP for referal to Ortho doc. Iced it last night, only minor relief tho. Will ice again later. Prolly no chance of seeing a doc before next week.
Gotta get some office work and grocery shoppin done today. Tamary is my sisters memorial mass in Vegas. Don't wanna go (will hafta take both fur babies) but wanna b there for my nephews. So, if my knee holds up...I'll make the drive in.

NM - I'm wif u bout quality of life...I been needin an endoscopy too, jes keep putting it off. I have been on Dexilant (good stuff) for 8 months now and jes occassionally need something extra. Did u mention the 'absorbtion' lower when on GERD meds? If that true, I gotta do something else to get me vitamins eh? GOOD LUCK on ur upcoming tests...will slip into da chapel n pray for NED on dat SCOPE.

Mema--I've been living with the GERD/Barrett's Esophagus/ulcer thing since 1998. Yes, the GERD meds (prilosec, protonix, etc) decrease stomach acid so some nutritients are not absorbed as well. I've been taking mutlivits and occasional supplements since '98. Puts us as slightly higher risk of food borne illnesses, since the stomach acid is the first and most effective protection from those nastly little bugs in our food. These meds also cause decreased bone density, so those of us taking GERD meds AND bc meds are at super high risk of osteoporosis. Crazy, crazy stuff.
Ok,just looked up Dexilant--it's the same class of drug as prilosec and protonix. I've been taking prilosec since 1998, went back to twice a day a few months ago. Long term use of these drugs can cause a stomach problem called atrophic gastritis. Just what I need, another treatment complication to worry about. sigh.

It snowed just a little yesterday and today looks like could be more. Well dang it, had a rough day till noon! Had to go across town to the vein dr and after waiting for him in the room, he thought the nurse had done the ultrasound on my legs...so then had to have that done, then wait for dr again...very nervous as I had to leave there by 9:30 to get to the endoscopy place, near us. But all looked ok there. Then had the endoscope and the dr found 3 ulcers in my tummy. SO he said to try to cut out fiber. WTF??? Everything we buy has tons of fiber, we search out for the food with more fiber! So now I don't really know what to eat, and am trying to search online. And yeah, no likker tonight....
But I have to have the endoscopy again in 6 wks, which is when we go to Portugal, so now it will be in 5 wks. FUN! I did get released to take a shower (yay!) and go upstairs, which I ran upstairs as soon as we got home! So if anyone knows some low fiber foods and wants to send it to me in a PM, that would be G8.So you all can drink for me tonight. OH, and operate the back hoe, and drive the car, and lets see....what else am I not supposed to do???? LOL.

NM - WTF sumpin else to warries about...give me da fukitol pill rights now...it's no wonder n why no ones ebber tailed me bout dat. I been on 150 Zantac since early 80's den on 2 a day, BC struck n Dexilant was life saver w/once in a while a Zantac....mese lubs lubs lubs mexican food..teehee. But I don't eat it like I used ta...I'm mostly bland bland bland now. Jes gotta hab it once in a while...OH n da Jose will do it to me too...so mostly 'virtual' w/da Jose tequila now.
I gotta seys dis in cases someone knows someone who knows someone. Dis about Menopause, not BC, but it might help wif the BC in da long run.
I started menopause when I turned 40 (I'm 57 now). Put on Premarin. 3 mos later, stronger premarin...3 mos later I went all natural... 6 mos later, naturalpathic stuff...3 mos later diff pill....3 mos later diff pill/foam/gel. This went on and on and on. I finally went insane and almost got a divorce. I was a ONE HUNDRED PERCENT RAVING MANIAC...BEEEAAATTTCCCCHHHH!!! Go figure, hormonal imbalance, no REM sleep cuz of the horrid night sweats every hour on the hour!!
I ACTUALLY left my DH. yep, sure did. He deserved better. So we're separated, living in diff states, and I find an Gyno that sez, YOU CAN'T ABSORB the traditional HRT meds, not even the gels n foam n stuff. So...I get the BIG KAHUNA...yep...a shot in da butt every month. My mother did this same routine for over 30 years. My DH and I were back together (this all took about 6 mos) and on the mend...he even learned to give me my HRT shots. Rest is history, and in case anyone is already thinkin it...yes...I DO believe takin them STINKIN shots caused my TP BC.
My point is....No One ever told me my absorbtion problem could be due to the GERD meds. So, if goils out der r going thru da menopause and taking Gerd meds....take heed!
O Tay Den - I jes got back from da hosp. My onco called me whilst I was at da grocery store, sed git n fer an ultra-sound. Hafta rule out blood clot. O find fur babies sitter...quick quick. Fax orders to my hosp here (my onco in Vegas). Hurry up and go WAIT!....But, I got it done and I kno pt not supposed ta kno til radiologists reads, but tech sooo sweet....tail her I gotta drive 90 miles tamary to sisters memorial...she tell me I can do it. That means NO CLOT...YIPPPEEE! Will do follow-up with Ortho next week....tech sed looks like fluid in dare. Jes glad not a clot.
OOO n guesses what....My little teeny tiny 3 pound Bella firgured out how to GO OUT da big Rotti sized doggie door taday....YEA YEA YEA BELLA!!! Now we jes wait for her to realize dats where she goes ta potty....LOL.

Sorry you had to go through so much, I hope your heart is healed. You are a gwate goil and me is sure he lubes you berry much and you lubbs him muchliest. But so happy to hear no clot. We had a scare with our Allison back in December, whew, glad de nurse told you de good news.

The scheduling chaos is being fueled by the right hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. I am going to have so much fun watching the fallout hit the fan on Monday! The 2 supervisors will figure out that neither of them was talking to the scheduler, and the scheduler was only talking to one supervisor. One of the nurses working with me is talking to the supervisors but not the scheduler. Fortunately (?) EVERYONE is talking to ME! I'm going to have my hands full tomorrow am coming up with a plan. I see calls to the AOD tomorrow am, SOMEBODY is going to need to work some overtime, approved or not! And one nurse is already on OT tomorrow. Insanity Rules the day!
Before anyone gets too worried about me, I am an old hand at making sure the patients get taken care of and I know what needs to be documented. It's the computer part that takes up a lot of time and may not get done until Monday morning. Or afternoon. Whenever it gets done. And I do NOT give away any free time. AND I make sure I get enough sleep to drive safely. Like I say, been in the biz too long to worry about trivial stuff like upset supervisors, computer people and payroll people.
