Husker-so glad that your mama is doing well.  I'm not good at the fone thing either, thanks for updating us though.

I'm not so sure it's the chemo that's making me feel yucky girls.......I was 8 days out from chemo when I got sick yesterday.  Wondering if it's the nupigen shot, had three in a row, perhaps that's whats doing it.  OR could be the pain killers for the bone pain from the shot.  Just not sure.  Either way, today seems to be better, so thankful for that.

To all the "nipple veterans"-Doc said I have a choice: can do nipple sparring surgery which will still leave me with no sensation but will of course look exactly like mine cause they are (I'm not particularly impressed with mine anyway, lol) OR can do reconstruction of them thereby removing any small chance of BC in them down the road.  How pleased are you guys with the "look" of you reconstructed nips?

    Happy Humpday girls!

TieDye, Allison just had her nips done surgically, so she could  prolly give you some good feedback. I just had the 3D nip tattoos, and I am VERY happy with them, since I can go braless still, but from the side view there is no projection (from front-view looks normal). You might also research on some other threads here, to decide which way you want to go.

It feels SO GOOD to feel almost normal today. Amazing. Wish I could eat and dwink (likker), but at least feeling normal is a big improvement!

    ChEARS!

A burglar broke into a house one night. He shined his flashlight around, looking for valuables when a voice in the dark said, 'Jesus knows you're here.'

He nearly jumped out of his skin, clicked his flashlight
    off, and froze.

When he heard nothing more, after a bit, he shook his head and continued.

Just as he pulled the stereo out so he could disconnect the wires, clear as a bell he heard 'Jesus is watching you.'

Freaked out, he shined his light around frantically, looking for the source of the voice.

Finally, in the corner of the room, his flashlight beam came to rest on a parrot.

'Did you say that?' he hissed at the parrot.

'Yep', the parrot confessed, then squawked, 'I'm just trying to warn you that he is watching you.'

The burglar relaxed. 'Warn me, huh?
Who in the world are you ?'

    'Moses,' replied the bird.

    'Moses?' the burglar laughed.
'What kind of people would name a bird Moses?'

'The kind of people that would name a Rottweiler Jesus.'

Kathy, you don't have to get decent for me, but you might want to if any of the Tenders are "hanging" around! I am just so pleased to hear that you are feeling better. Liquid diets are A-OK around here!

Husker, glad to hear mom is doing ok, and I ditto what Kathy said about the drugs they can use to stop the vomiting. I too get that. Hopefully she won't need anymore surgery!

Cindy, glad to hear you are feeling better. What kind of pain pills are you on? Have you taken them before and gotten sick? As for the nupragen (or what ever it's called) I am not sure. I had nuelasta shots, but never 3 in a row. And they never made me sick. I hurt more with them during my Taxol treatments, but that was all. That would be a good question to ask the doc. Can't help ya with the nips, (I had lumpectomy) but from what I can remember, the girls say your numb from the surgery anyways.

DorK, no wonder you sent Stella my way, you are too biddy to put up with her bad self! How are you feeling these days? You had ALOT done to you're pwetty self. With your arm and new boobies.

Great joke, as always Bernie~ Thank You!

    Hi girls,

I just got in from work but will be logging in shortly to work from home.

Kathy, so glad you are feeling better and hope you can dwink soonliest as possible. I miss our Pau Hana's and I am sure you miss them more. Pants, please give Katrinka a long massage. Thank you dearest tender.

Lori, tanks for taking Stella, you are right, I sent her away cuz I am sooo busy with work. I send her with extra wodka and in exchange for that, she promised to be a good goil. I miss her but it was great to see her post today.

Cindy, sorry you are having se's, hope you get through your treatment quickliest. I can't answer your question on nips, i have none.

Bernie, love the jokes. I popped in from work and read some today when our systems went down. Keep up the great work.

NM, I have missed you, glad all went well for your Mom. And a mini vacation sounds good, you deserve a break.

Scuby, thanks for the flower power beer, yummy. Miss ya goil. Hope your PT went well, that was today, right?

I had the most wonderful surprise today at work - I got called into a conference room by one of our VP's just after lunch. As always, I start sweating like a pig and worrying. Turns out that I was given a very nice raise in my base pay, I am still in shock at how generous they were given the fact that I was out of work for most of last year. This was the best raise I ever got in my life.  Also, my DD got a full time summer job today at the college. She was selected out of nearly 100 other students. I just got off the phone with her and we are both doing a happy dance.

Sue, I hope you are doing well. How did everything go with the memorial service?

Unde', what's up with no Valentine's day??

Well I am going to log in and work for about an hour then have dinner and pau hanna. I am motivated!! More money means more dwinkies, yippeeeee!!!

CheersS my lovely non-feathered breast fwends!!!

Here's Martha Stewart's Etiquette Guide for Rednecks!1. Never take a beer to a job interview.2. Always identify people in your yard before shooting at them.3. It's considered tacky to take a cooler to church.4. If you have to vacuum the bed, it is time to change the sheets.5. Even if you're certain that you are included in the will, it is still considered tacky to drive a U-Haul to the funeral home.
    * **************************DINING OUT1. When decanting wine, make sure that you tilt the paper cup,and pour slowly so as not to "bruise" the fruit of the vine.2. If drinking directly from the bottle, always hold it with your fingers covering the label.
    * *********************ENTERTAINING IN YOUR HOME1. A centerpiece for the table should never be anything prepared by a taxidermist.2. Do not allow the dog to eat at the table...
no matter how good his manners are.
    * **********************PERSONAL HYGIENE1. While ears need to be cleaned regularly, this is a job that should be done in private using one's OWN truck keys.2. Proper use of toiletries can forestall bathing for several days. However, if you live alone, deodorant is a waste of good money.3. Dirt and grease under the fingernails is a social no-no, as they tend to detract from a woman's jewelry and alter the taste of finger foods.
    * ***************DATING (Outside the Family)1. Always offer to bait your date's hook, especially on the first date.2. Be aggressive. Let her know you're interested: "I've been wanting to go out with you since I read that stuff on the bathroom wall two years ago." 3. Establish with her parents what time she is expected back. Some will say 10:00 PM; Others might say "Monday." If the latter is the answer, it is the man's responsibility to get her to school on time.
    * *********************THEATER ETIQUETTE1. Crying babies should be taken to the lobby and picked up immediately after the movie has ended.2. Refrain from talking to characters on the screen. Tests have proven they can't hear you.
    * **********************WEDDINGS1. Livestock, usually, is a poor choice for a wedding gift.2. Kissing the bride for more than 5 seconds may get you shot.3. For the groom, at least, rent a tux. A leisure suit with a cummerbund and a clean bowling shirt can create a tacky appearance.4. Though uncomfortable, say "yes" to socks and shoes for this special occasion.
    * ******************DRIVING ETIQUETTE1. Dim your headlights for approaching vehicles; Even if the gun is loaded, and the deer is in sight.2. When approaching a four-way stop, the vehicle with the largest tires always has the right of way.3. Never tow another car using panty hose and duct tape.4. When sending your wife down the road with a gas can, it is impolite to ask her to bring back beer.5. Do not lay rubber while traveling in a funeral procession.

DorKiest, that is great news on your raise and the job for your baby girl. We will happy dance with you.

Allison yes, Stella told on me. I don't have a neti pot, so I looked online to see what else could be used around the home. And a turkey baster I had! Still sneezing, but not quite as bad as that one day. Thank you for asking.

Mema, no problem about the EZ's, I don't make much on them anyways. Selling them more for my friend to get them out there. The nausea pill, I had to look up. It was Emend, 3 pills and then if needed I had compazine to take, but I didn't need it. And you poor dear with that huge needle. I am so sorry for all that pain and have a big hug for you. I wondered where that scream was coming from, that I heard. I'll bet NM won't even be able to read your post about the needle! My DH loves Unchained Melody and the Righteous Bros. We got to see them right before the one died. I am not as huge of a fan, so I don't know their names!

Katrinka, how was your day? And how much longer on the liquids? Stella said she would help drink your share.

Shore is quiet around here lately. Everyone is so busy!

thirsty thursdays: cranberry honey mint cocktail

cranberry honey mint cocktail inspired by this recipe from bonappetit.com

    cranberry syrup makes 4 servings

    1 c. frozen cranberries

    1/2 c. water

1 heaping spoon of honey (or you can use ~2 Tbsp sugar)

    For each drink:

    8 mint leaves

    1/4 orange, sliced

    2 Tbsp cranberry syrup

    1 1/2 ounces gin

    club soda

    1. For the syrup, just bring everything to a bubble and reduce heat to medium low for 2-4 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool. (you can put this in the fridge or freezer to speed up the process.)

    2. Muddle the mint and orange slices together until you've squeezed all the juice out of the oranges, about 30 seconds.

    3. Add the cranberry syrup, and gin, let this sit for 3-5 minutes.

    4. Add ice and top it off with club soda.

    5. Mix by pouring into another cup and back again.

    Serve cold. Enjoy!

Good morning, Loungettes! Sorry to MIA yesterday, having computer equipment problems, finally figured out the problem and can work around it. My Mom is doing great, expects to go home today, YEAH! I did stop in a see her for a few minutes yesterday, hope I didn't embarrass her by not speaking the staff (I just nodded when they said 'hi'). So hard to know what she wants from me sometimes. Ah, well, such is the life of a single gal who live too close to Mom.

    Wahine--HOORAY for negative cultures!

Undy--thanks for the Valentine just-another-day wishes! I do enjoy this holiday more when it's over than any other time.

Karen--Seems to be an epidemic of GERD exacerbations all over right now. And I've been having more hot flashes lately, too. Maybe it's the longer days? I went off gabapentin and then back on it a few month later when the hot flashes came back and made it impossible to sleep more than a couple of hours at a time. Such a back and forth. Wishing you a great trip and an even better visit with your folks!

Tidy--hang in there, chemo related nausea and vomiting is a tricky thing to manage. Keep up the good work so far!

    Scuby--great sounding BOTD!

Goldie--Flower Power Sour sound absolutely yummy!!!!!! Hmm, I just realized that vodka is a clear liquid. So is beer. And wine! Hey, maybe a clear liquid diet is not so bad after all!

Husker--So glad your Mom is doing ok now! Getting info over the phone is a skill that takes some time to learn, keep at it and you will be an expert in no time!

Dorkable--Hears to being able to ketchup! Hooray for the raise!!!! What wonderful news for you and for DD too! Time for a celebration PARTAY!!!!!!!

    Bernie--LOL!!!!!!

Mema--Holy Crow, how horrible an experience! That doc needs to have his gonads rearranged, maybe to the vicinity of his tonsils, then torn out through his rectum! Is there anyone at the practice you can talk to? Or somewhere else you can go? You did way better than I would have, I would have kicked him and RUN, SCREAMING from the office! I'm still cringing. . . Nice looking and sounding DOTD!

Well, I suppose I should get to work on some neglected housework and get some laundry going before the rain starts tomorrow. Been a long week already, almost looking forward to going to work this weekend!

Princess Glitter Sizzle's DOTD is the CELEBRATE!!
    1/2 oz Brandy
    4 oz Champagne
    1/2 oz Cointreau
    1 cubes Sugar
    Peychaud Bitters

    Directions
Add Cointreau, Brandy and a sugar cube saturated with Peychaud Bitters to a champagne flute. Fill with your favorite champagne.

Ohhhh such nice sounding DOTD's! And I LOVE your "liquid diet" cartoon, NM....yeah why shouldn't it be clear likker???? Gotta be on the clear liquid thru Sunday, then the "full liquid", although I have cheated just a tad (pureed soup and moscato....slap my hand Pants!). Lori, I can have the cranberry juice and honey from your dwink, but thats all...sob, sob. At least I am losing some weight! LOL.

Mema, OMG that sounds awful!! My foot dr does a similar thing....not with that huge needle, but with pain...and no shot to numb the pain. OUCH!!!! Hope draining some of that fluid will help ease the pain. (((HUGS)))

Bernie, OMG that Redneck Ettiquette Guide is soooo funny. Now, just to be sure, you weren't aiming it at Alli or me, were you? (We are the only ones living in de South, where "rednecks" usually reside...lol). Love it, will have to send it to my DH. The jokes about "marrying cousins" are always funny, but I swear, we keep meeting so many cousins of our young plumber! Turns out my DH's best buddy is the plumbers cousin, and the receptionist at the corp renting our condo is his cousin too....almost afraid to mention his name to anyone...LOL.

Lori, Neat that the turkey baster worked...I thought you were joking at first! Nice to be able to search the internet and learn those things. Glad it is helping you!

NM, So glad your mom will get to come home today! What a blessing that she did so well. Always scary to even be in the hospital with so much that can go wrong. We STILL do not have the blood work results from Tues, that we had to hurry out to get it done. Its funny, but the 1st day on clear liquid is the worst....my hunger has subsided a lot, but still hate to see DH eatings such yummy food. And I hate to imagine the good steaks, etc he will be having in Tunica this weekend. Oh well, gotta get well. How long does it usually take to heal this?

Yes, it sure does seem like an epidemic of gerd/acid reflux problems here! But, what I wanted to convey is how important it is to be checked, since I had not idea I had serious problems. When I was on prilosec (and another rx I forget), it was fine, and as soon as I stopped, it returned. SO I knew it wasn't healing whatever the problem was. And I want all you girlz to be okay!!!

Hope you all have a wonderful Thirsty Thursday!!!! I finally am going to my hairdresser, then to see my DD and g'kids. I had felt bad for a wk after my leg surgery, so I can finally start living again! Hope everyone else is feeling better too! And keep dwinking for me, Stella!

    Hugssssssss,

    Katrinka no dwinka

Wahine--uclers heal up in 4 to 6 weeks of treatment.  Gastritis can heal up in a few days to a few weeks, or as in my case, never.  I have chronic gastritis, after 10+ years it still hasn't gone away.  If I miss a dose of prilosec, beleive me, I know!

Another glitch in the endoscopyt/colonoscopy saga--the new doc in town apparrently isn't accepting new patients.  Or dosen't exist, depending on who you talk to.  I'm ready to say fu<# it to the whole thing.  Not like I haven't tried.  The system is failing me, again.  Arrgghh, I'm ina  negative, foul mood this am.  Time to go do something productive.  Or watch TV.  Whatever.

Shoot, you finally are ready to consider having the scopes and the dr isn't accepting new patients??? WTF???? That is WRONG. Shall we get adorKable to send her "people"?? I hate hearing that, as I know how hard it was for you to even consider having it done. Don't give up, ok? Thanks for the info on the gastritis. The Dexilant (so we were told from the drs nurse) is supposed to be better at healing that???? Maybe only cuz its stronger, or cuz its time released??? I don't know, but she and the dr wanted me on that one. I guess time will tell. I hate that yours has not healed. HOPE you find another dr who will be even better than that one!!!!! Pants, Jock, puleez pamper our NM today....massages, *whatever* (wink, wink), and also all the dwinks she wants....and PRONTO!!!! (((hugs)))

How about this one for the country babes?

A man and his wife were driving through country on his way from New York to California. Looking at his fuel gauge, he decided to stop at the next gasoline station and fill up. About 15 minutes later, he spots a Mobil station and pulls over to the high octane pump.
"What can I do for y'all?" asks the attendant. "Fill `er up with high test," replies the driver. While the attendant is filling up the tank, he's looking the car up and down. "What kinda car is this?" he asks. "I never seen one like it before." "Well," responds the driver, his chest swelling up with pride, "this, my boy is a 1999 Cadillac DeVille."
"What all's it got in it?" asks the attendant. "Well," says the driver, "it has everything. It's loaded with power steering, power seats, power sun roof, power mirrors, AM/FM radio with a 10 deck CD player in the trunk with 100 watts per channel, 8 speaker stereo, rack and pinion steering, disk brakes all around, leather interior, digital instrument package, and best of all, a 8.8 liter V12 engine."
"Wow," says the attendant, "that's really something!" "How much do I owe you for the gasoline?" asks the driver. "That'll be $30.17," says the attendant.
The driver pulls out his money clip and peels off a $20 and a $10. He goes into his other pocket and pulls out a handful of change. Mixed up with the change are a few golf tees. "What are those little wooden things?" asks the attendant. "That's what I put my balls on when I drive," says the driver. "Wow," says the attendant, "those Cadillac people think of everything!"

    Happy Thursday ladies.

Dorthy-Really been missing you since you've been working so hard.  Sounds like it really paid off though.  Congratulations on the well deserved raise!!  It's wonderful that they are recognizing and rewarding your hard work.  Also, how awesome that your girl got that job out of all the other students she was competing with!  Good for her!  Happy dances all over the lounge for the two of you!!!

Wahine-It's good to hear that you are feeling more like "yourself".  Not feeling well just really turns everything else upsidedown doesn't it?  Hugs for you and hoping each day is a little better.

MemaSue- GOOD GRIEF!!!  That sounds just awful!!  With all the technology we have, I don't understand why things still have to hurt.  It's just silly.  Makes ya want to invest in large quantities of that numbing cream they give us for our ports, lol.  Take care, hope the removal of the liquid will alleviate some of your pain.

NM-Really good new bout your Mom!! I'm glad everything went well and that she'll be headed home soon.

Have an appt with ONC today.  Boy do I have questions for her this time!!!  NM used the word "tricky" when describing trying to manage the nausea....that's a very good word.  Seems like as soon as I post bout feeling good, BAM I'm sick again, then back to feeling ok, then sick again.  UGH such a roller coaster-and I've still got three more to go.  Hopefully she's got some good advice.  Will check in after my appt.

    Have a great morning girls.

OK, Pants, Jock, anybody, I need a very, very big drink.  I am in such a mood, I guess you'd say.  Just want to cry or scream or both at the same time.  Don't know if I should go visit Mom, she says she'd going home today since their going to put another patient in the same room with her, but she had a bad night and was throwing up this morning, so they want her to stay another night.  Just spoke with her on the phone and she is PISSED, and saying she's going home today regardless.

All I can think about other than Mom is 'do I have ulcers again?' or 'do I finally have esphageal or stomach cancer now?' and 'why can't these doctors do consultations BEFORE scheduling a procedure?'

That last becuase I called another office to find out about the doc and the office and got the, "oh, dear, you don't need to see the doctor before the day of the procedure, it's routine and none of his patients ever have any trouble!" "Oh,dear, there will be plenty of time to talk to the doctor before the procedure.  If you decide you don't want to have it done the staff will give you your clothes back and take out the IV and  you can go right home."  "Now, dear, the prep is much easier than you think, you won't have any problems with that.  No reason not to do the prep, even if you don't have the procedure, it won't hurt you any and you might ever lose a few pounds!"  "Mastectomy and lymphedema precautions?  I'm sure the staff at the hospital know all about that.  The doctor doesn't have anything to do with that kind of thing, it doesn't impact what he's doing."  Oh, my dear LORD!  And this is one of the best rated doctors in the system!  GOD--please save me from just average or good doctors if this is the BEST!

That's it though, I'm done.  Fu<$  the scope and colonoscopy.  Nothing they can do about either condition really anyway.  Better to wait until I have symptoms I can't ignore any more, than things will be too far along to have to even talk about chemo and all that crap.

The screaming you will hear is me venting frustration and fear out the back door.

Oh NM, Puleeeeeez don't give up! Surely there are some other good doctors there, but I don't know how to find them, other than by word-of-mouth, or asking your other doctor. It really pisses me off too, cuz we know how much you DIDN'T want to have that procedure done,so when you actually think you might do it, then you can't find a good dr. AAARRRGGGHHHHHHHHH! I am so upset for you. At my hair stylist today, her co-owner has a 7 yo who was on Dexilant, and is now on Prilosec and they are trying to gradually get him off it, to see if he still needs it. He had a tummy ache last yr, and the dr thought he saw something, so they took out his appendix. Nothing was wrong with it! Then had to start treating his tummy. Sheeeeeeesh. Darn, and I was looking for someone to share this clear liquid diet with...shucks....just kidding. BUT since you know the treatment, maybe you can just try that for awhile and see if you feel better? Really a conundrum(sp)! Still hoping a good dr will turn up. And I agree with you, WOULD NOT want to MEET a dr for the first time, right before a procedure!!!! Pants, WHERE is NM's dwink????

Bernie, Awwwwwww....Calva sure is getting big!!! Looks so sweet in that picture.

Oh Tiedye, so sorry to hear you are still nauseaus! Sheesh.....hope they can figure it out and you can start feeling good!!!!

Oh yeah, AdorKable, I foigot to mention about your DD's job....that is AWESOME!!!!! Very happy for her.

I need a dwink too....how bout a big cyber Long Island Ice Tea, Pants? That should do it! Got my hair cut, then met my DD and d'kids at the dog rescue place. They have so many volunteers walking the dogs all the time, and the dogs and their inside and outside kennels are so clean, plus they have a neat thrift store....like I need anything else. BUT got worn out....only so far my body can go on just drinking water, soda, juice, and broth!!! Had to come home for my fix of honey....so glad that is allowed!!!

    ChEARS on this THISTY THIRS-DEY!
