how about drinking?

1Gonna go back and catch up on all you lovelies, soo much to read!
Right now though, I've got some really serious questions for you all-I know it's a drinking thread, but really need your input to help get me centered.
Met the PS yesterday.....did I "like" him? I guess, he certainly seems competent and knowledgable, which is importanat. Here's my dilema though: He seems to have little if any concerns over scars, where they are and how bad they may be. Drew around my areola to show where he'd make incision and said he's stitch that together ......I asked if that scar could be somewhat hidden or minimized by the nip reconstruction/tattoo and his comment was "maybe....depends on where the breast mound ends up sitting" When we tried to discuss the difference between saline and silicone, he waved his hand through the air and said "pros and cons to both, but we can talk about that later"
I guess my irritation here is that he doesn't seemed the least bit concerned with a "pretty" result! I thought the whole point of plastic surgery was to specialize in "attractive results"!!?? He pretty much left us with the impression that there'd be a large scar across the middle of my breast and that was that!
So my question for you girls is this: Have my expectations been too high in thinking I was going to get some pretty new boobs? Do you all have scars that run right across the middle of the breast? Is this just the way it is and unavoidable? Or should I be talking to another PS?
I'm really bummed, disappointed and confused.

Gotta get dressed, gonna try my walk today for 1st time in a month. Will take it easy with the knee. Later Ladies!!

WOW, already had tornadoes in the area, and they didn't expect anything till after 3pm. SO we are in for a hell of a day/night. After leaving the dentists around 9am, the tornado warning sirens went off, still had an errand to do, and called DH and found out they had touched down and done damage, but in the North part of our county. OK, but hurried to get what my dad needed, and got us home. Well, about 20 mi away, same area that was so devastated last April by those tornadoes, they had a lot of damage. AND 2 tornadoes tracked 30 min apart, across the same area, near where my DD used to live. They just left our area and heading across TN, so now they are trying to find out what damage has been done. Some schools were damaged, luckily they let out this morning, and lots of people trapped in cars, houses damaged, etc. WIll let you know whe I know more. BUT we still have the worst threats coming. HOPE everyone else is ok, and as long as we have power I will keep you posted.
Wanted to comment to all, but gotta check the weather reports...but NM just wanted to comment on your "bucket list"....because visiting Ireland had been on my bucket list for yrs. Always went to other countries though. Well, OZ was on my late DH's bucket list, and he died the year after we went there. SO I think in the back of my mind I thought if I ever went to Ireland then I would die soon after. Well, so far I have made it a few months....... I know that is silly, but it was always in my mind.
Take care everyone!!!!
Lubs Youse,
Kath

Hi Ladies,...its Friday and I am behind schedule....Fed X picked up my "sample" and its off to the lab in NC....its a complete hormone tests...tests for I don't know how many things....curious what the results will be....should have them in about 3 weeks......
GF called me this morning and we haven't chatted in like forever, so talked toooo long on the phone...did manage to sweep the kitchen and family room....of my sooooo much fur and dirt that the dogs bring in. Still need to vacuum....and do the kitchen and bathrooms....DH is on his way home from San Fran...hoping he will do the floors...they are sooooo dirty (geeze, do I like oooo today)!!! Don't have a lot of cooking to do as Shabbat dinner is just DH and me.....I have challah from last week in the freezer and noodle kugel...so need to make chicken and a few sides....but first need to get to the store and pick some things up, like chicken!!!! And I have to pick DD up at noon as she is going on a ski week-end with her synagogue youth group.....they are leaving at 12:30....she is missing a bit of science, lunch and lang arts.....of course she doesn't like her science teacher so happy to leave that class early....she loves her lang arts teacher...has a test today that she was hoping to take yesterday, but she will make it up MOnday....but she had her lang arts teacher look at her outline for her research project and she got a 30 out of 25!!! yep, 5 extra points!!!
Well.....my wine is due to be delivered today...Fed X ground usually comes around 12:15......DH will be here....but waiting till he gets home in case they come early, before I go run errands this morning....they need a signature.....So I'm off to get some things done....Hope to be back later this afternoon.....Have a great day...Hugs, Karen

Quick response to Tiedye.....I would DEFINATELY find another PS. The one I fired also didn't care about how I was going to look, and thought I was silly to want to look good. HE said "I am saving your life you shouldn't worry about what you will look like!". He also was very rude and did not answer my questions. I later found out he has sorta mutilated some bc gals. Anyway, my new PS who is excellent, hugged me when we met, and told me anything I wanted to know. ALSO, this is important (to me at least)....he does the "upside down T" inscision, so a line goes down from the nipple area and the part that goes across, is in the fold under the foob. So I have no scar acroos the foobs, and the one straight down from the nip hardly shows. In fact right at the center of the nips is a small "bump" where the incision came together, so that is purrfect! I did have the nips removed, and had teh 3D tattoo nips. Hope you will find a better PS, I really do!
Love the sexy cocktail, Lori!!!!

Tidy--YES the looks of the results are VERY important? How did the women in the pictures of his work look after compared to before? The fact that he blew off your question about saline vs silicon tells me that he has no respect for you. Do NOT hired this PS! Remember, these docs work for US, we do not work for them. Get another opinion. I got 4 PS consults before I made my choice. Your expectations are normal. Just like if you go into a hardware store and ask a clerk to help you find a particular size bolt. The answer is not--"it's somewhere in that row" the answer is to show you. If you think his work is good and you want to try again, make an appointment to take another look at the before and after pictures of the women he's operated on. Nothing like the pics of the real thing to tell you how good a PS is.
Mema--I've got experience reporting docs, if you decide you want to follow up PM me and I'll help you find the right places and organizations.
Wahine--keep a weather eye out today! Funny how the mind will connect things that really aren't connected, isn't it? I know I have some irrational feelings, but I've decided that everyone else is going to have to deal with it because I am not wasting time and energy on trying to change the fears my past medical "care" has given me. Nah, nah, nah. Check in from time to time so we know you are OK.
Karen--Does the Fed Ex guy/gal know what they picked up? I've often wondered what those folks think of the stuff they drive around. . . Let's see, FedEx picks up pee, then later delivers wine. . . I'd take a close look at those bottles before drinking!OK, saw my PCP again today, doing much better, gonna play couch potato over the weekend and plan this year's garden for amusement, when I'm not napping. . . .

LOL NM, about the stuff FedEx delivers, and reminding Karen to look closely at those bottles! Funny.
So far, no fatalies reported so far. Injuries, lots of damage, about 20k homes out of power in our county right now. ANd I was wrong, the schools were still in session....1 hs has over 50 cars damaged, a roof off, etc. Lots of homes damaged (they have already been going around with spray paint to label which homes were checked for people), trees down, semis overturned, power lines down. Someone whose mobile home was totally destroyed had just left it! And they are all safe. And this is B4 the bad weather we expect later today. Sheesh!

Thanks for the update. Can I ask a stoopid question? Are schools in tornado country built with storm shelters or to some code that makes them safer than an average stick-built house or trailor? In the northeast our schools are also our disaster shelters and are built to withstand hurricane force winds, heavy snow and a goodly amount of icing without significant damage. That's were we evacuate to if there's going to be coastal flooding from a storm or if there is an out of control wildfire. I can imagine that parents would be very worried being separated from thier kids during a time like this, though.
At least there aren't any casualties so far. I pray there will be none at all today and tonight.
0 -
NM, I think they are trying to build big tornado shelters for all schools in AL, after the deadly tornadoes last April. In the worst hit areas, they did build them, but I think only for those at the school. They are for the community when school is not in session. THey evacuate the kids in the safest areas they have, but right now not the best option. We had bad tornadoes in '89 that went through the expensive subdivisions, upscale shoppingh areas, and destroyed an elem school...I don't think they lost any kids there as a janitor (after school session for kids at the time) took them all under staircases, etc. But we did lose over 20 people in our city that day. And we ALL knew someone that died. In fact, several yrs later, after I lost my DH, I dated a guy who lost his wife (that I casually knew) in that tornado. Already the large churches near me have opened as shelters for those that lost homes today. You can believe the tornado shelter businesses sprung up ALL OVER after last April. They have nice ones that are tall like a closet but can fit in your garage, they bolt it to the concrete I guess, and they withstand the F-4 or F-5 winds, etc. We sure respect ANY chance or threat of severe weather here. And our area since its so hi-tech does have excellent tracking and reporting systems. I pray also, for no casualties, or any more damage. AND NO that was NOT a stoopid question, silly! We have a "lull" now, suns out, till maybe 3 pm or so. My DD will be driving down to Birmingham this evening, and I hate that, as the bad threats include that area too, and she would be driving right thru the predicted storm path, for about 2.5 hrs. Please pray for her too! I tried to convince her to just leave after 4 am, and I would go with her....she has to lead some classes for scout leaders tomorrow...but no, she has panic attacks, and would rather get there tonight.

Thanks for satisfying my curiosity. Tornados are so much different from anything bad weather that I have experiences or know how to prepapre for. I guess the biggest difference is that it would be really rare to get a bad storm of some sort without days of notice. Not that any of the stuff we get here is as distructive as a tonado. I will be praying for you, your DD and everyone else in the area today. Stay Safe Wahine!

NM, Hugz to you girl, glad you are feeling okay and planning a weekend of taking care of you!
Kathy, glad things okay for you.
Tiedye, absolutely matters. I reallyknew I found the right PS (in addition to being adorable) when he said to me (paraphrasing), right now you are worried about your health, you got diagnosed with BC and that's a lot. My job as your PS is to worry about you 20 years from now, my job is to make you happy with the way that woman will look. Like KdeD, my scars are underneath the foobs, kind of like a keyhole, although, as I knew would happen, the nips were replaced by skin from my back which is a slightly lighter color than my skin. That's partially why I am going with a full blown
tattoo and skipping the nipple tattoos, that plus WTF, it won't hurt! Did they show you pictures of the before and aftr of each surgical approach? It helped me a lot. Talk to at least one other, I know you want to get this done but it's worth the couple extra weeks in the long run!
Yay, I get to see DorKiest on Monday! Pics to follow, will give her a big HTL HUG!
Jaw is sore where they extracted the tooth and put in bone graft. Look like a lobsided chipmunk! Permanent implant after vacation! Only took 2 vicodin so far, ibuprofen seems enough. One more meeting T 3:30, then enuf. Am getting my first massage since early January, won't need special pillows for the TE's, yay me!
How's about a Jamaican Red Stripe BOTD, light and refreshing! Cheers0 -
No school today-love having Fridays off! Send DH & DS shopping for track shoes, leaving me and the fur-babies home to do what we want on this nice sunny day. So far they choose to bark and nap, bark and nap. Mema, your pups are adorable! Today's calendar cartoon fits them:
NM, so glad you are feeling better and that the tests look promising! Hope your visit today confirms that for you. Steroids can sure wreak havoc, can't they? I asked to cut back on mine during chemo and was so glad the MO let me. While I have dropped the Ambien and the
Cymbalta, I still take a night-time dose of Ativan and have the others on standby if/when needed. At one time I took all three and felt guilty for about 5 minutes (stupid, coming from a counselor who ought to know better, but we can be our own worst enemies, right?) An oncology pharmacist finally convinced me that it was okay. She said this was what I needed right now. Trying to be
strong and tough it out causes more stress on our bodies. These are aids to help us sleep, to help us heal, to help us get through the day. Glad you took some control back with the ER doc and filed a complaint. You may not know the outcome, but just knowing you did something has to be somewhat satisfying, and then to have your PCP validate your feelings as legitimate by complaining on your behalf speaks volumes!Scuba and others with dental problems...next time come to Nebraska! I LOVE my dentist. I mean, I LOVE love him. He's a dentist too! He would not have made any of you wait two weeks for an appointment, let alone two days, especially for my BC sisters. He knows how therapeutic this site has been for me and would be so happy to return the favor. And he promises to be pain-free too.
Chrissy, love the new specs. Very groovy indeed! My reading glasses are purple as well, but nearly as fun as yours!
Karen, did you get snow? It is 50 degrees here today. No storms or tornados although western Nebraska had one earlier in the week-the first ever recorded in February for 100 years. Someone asked about schools in tornado alley...I'm not sure about new buildings, but ours do not have any more reinforcement. My middle school building is about 17 years old. We do have tornado drills once a year in April and have 250 or so kids divided between the two locker rooms. At my elementary, 300 kids head to the basement or first floor interior rooms. About every other year we have an actual warning during the school day and go there for real. A drill lasts five minutes. A warning can last one or more HOURS. Luckily it has never been the real deal, just lots of rain/wind. Sometimes a power outage. At home we go to our closet under the stairs where I have a tornado tote with batteries, bottled water, weather radio, blankets, etc. Again, we usually "take cover" at least once a year. It's easy to get nonchalant or annoyed about the warnings when nothing ever (seems to) happen, but it could and it has. There are always people trying to
videotape or see if they can see one in the sky. Idiots!Alli, what is it with insensitive jerk-doctors!? I like to dance but DH has 2 left feet, although we
tried dance lessons. He didn't like me counting the steps in his ear ONE two three, ONE two three. He was counting too, but we never seemed to be on the same beat!
Beans, feeling better today? I hope you can breathe cuz it looks like there were so many sistahs giving you big strong hugs!Tiedye, I'm with everyone else. This doc does not sound like the one for you. Competent and knowledgeable is not enough.
Wahine, hope the storms have passed. Crazy weather-calm down already, Mother Nature!

I echo what the others have said about liking your PS....I had problems with my recon (not with my PS), so I was getting a 2nd opinion....made an appt with the "best" PS in town....well, I tell you I wouldn't let her cut the simplest thing on me...She was so sarcastic and rude that I was ready to say "F" you when I walked out....She did compliment my PS...said if that was her job she would pat herself on the back....told me to buy these crazy expensive camis...and then as she was walking out of the room, she makes a comment and says write that down in your book!!! That was soooo ticked me off....but it was enough to make me realize that my PS is top notch.....He ended doing both my revisions.....
NO the gal from FEd X doesn't know what she was getting!!! But it is ground Fed X that delivers the wine.....and I drink red wine, so its easy to tell the difference!!! The wine came on schedule at around 12:15.....Now I can't wait to have a glass of wine with dinner...
Talking to DD#2 as I write this...DH is cleaning the floors.....so next I have to do the bathrooms and kitchen.....Have a great week-end. Karen

What an active weather day. The weatherpeople are getting hoarse as they have been talking almost non-stop since this morning. Another tornado looks like it is heading about 20 mi away, same area. DH just got home (3:40) and bank had been closed when he tried to go there. Neighbor manages a bank, and is already home too. Looks like something bad heading our way now. They had softball size hail nearby, and they showed a popcorn mfg co that had their bldg totally destroyed....metal trusses bent in half.
OH NM, I forgot to mention that we usually know at least a couple of days ahead to expect bad weather, so we knew something was coming, and to keep listening to the news. BUT today they expected it to not hit till after 3! If you listen for the sirens, and keep a watch on tv for the tracking, you USUALLY know where it is headed, and when (they even put it to the minute!), but tornadoes CAN change direction!!!
Tata for now....

Wow....what a day for all my Breasties! Everbuddy in harms way....seek shelter!! Or, mix a DOTD and relax...LOL...no but seriously....please stay safe!
I did my walk...YEA!! Took it slow and walked about 1 1/2 but it took about 40 mins. We usually do 3 miles in about 50-55 mins. So I was a good girl. Then I did some stretching and gentle range of motion exercises and then iced it. Could I sit still after that...nooooo, got up, cleaned the kitchen, cleaned both bathrooms, dusted, swept whole house, vacuumed after that, then hit the whole place with the steam mop. OH...and before I started in the kitchen...I put a cake in the oven. WaWa - cudn't find my muffin tin or da paper cups...tink they b in da RV, so DA CAKE. It's berry berry berry berry good! Glad you are not in any storm path for now...we had some wind, which I hate, but sunny and high 50's. No, no shelter at our house, but the clubhouse has underground (back part) exercize room, so DH usually wants to go there when it looks like it coming right at us. Will have to get my parents too! If the power goes out though we can't get in as it works w/ magnetic card....happened to us last time! SO glad you were able to walk that far! But you sure did a lot afterwards. Don't overdo, ok?

HI goilz, Calm right now. FINALLY our weatherpeople let regular programming come in, and just caught the tail end of an ABC reporter on ABC WORLD NEWS who was filming live from Harvest, which is just 15 mi from us. Some areas near that had expensive 2 story new brick homes reduced to rubble. Luckily though when that happens, those people usually have insurance and will be ok. Its hardest when it hits the poorer areas. Of course, NONE of us would want to lose our homes and all our possessions. One older couple who lost their home said "at least we have each other". Sweet. Another young guy called 9 people last night trying to get the day off work today, but no one could cover for him. LUCKY him, as he was at work when the 2nd story room he rents out was demolished. HE would have been sleeping in it at the time. I am sure there will be lots more stories.
Well, having PAU HANA right now....youse still here Mema? Enny1 else? Supposed to get another line of storms later on tonight, so enjoying the brief respite. Would love that purdy sexy dwink that Lori posted, but just settling for Seagrams/Diet Coke....just couldn't get to the HTL. But hope some of you are joining me. Scoobs, ya want me ta dwink for ya? Hope those meds are helping your pain. Ouch!Lubs youse goilz,
