Good morning, Loungettes! It was a steady but no overly busy weekend. Got some things worked out with one of the supers, no more not knowing what time I'll start working on Fridays, I will start at 3 pm unless I am asked and agree to start earlier. And no more being tied to the phone all day Monday for doctor's orders. I feel so free already! I had trouble getting to sleep the last couple of nights, and slept late this morning, would have slept until 8 if Sadie hadn't woken me up around 7 am. She doesn't need me to let her out now, but she insisted that I get up! Not sure what that's all about, but it's kinda funny. I ran across a job posting that I've applied for and am going to check out. It's full time Hospice work, case managing, which means that I would be able to develop a relationship with patients and families and follow them throughout out the end of life journey, not see them at admission, in crisis and at death. A couple of office people have move over to this company recently, and they speak very well of the company. I'll keep you all up to date if anything happens.

Goldie--I wish I had something for an eyelash curler to curl! But this is the way God made me, so I just enjoy not having to bother with eye make up. I remember Ponds cold cream, and I didn't think they made it any more either! So Orange was born in '73. I graduated from high school in '76. Someone asked me how long I've been a nurse this weekend and it counted out to 31 years! I can say I have DECADES of experience! Nice new bar stools! Those will fit right into the lounge décor!

CynCyn--sounds like the your house is getting crowded! Having an office in the sun porch sounds really nice, though!

Juliet--Drowning after beating the rat ba$#ard would be annoying, to say the least! Fortunately, if you can swim you will likely be ok no matter what happens. Kayaks float even when upside down, so there's always the option of swimming it to shallow water where you can stand up and flip it over and start again. At least that's my theory. If I ever flip I might lose the paddle, but I can get another easily enough. You'll love kayaking, I'm sure!

Undy--It's kind of fun watching others fight over the title of youngest! Usually I'm in that fight, being a bit under the average age of an RN in Maine. Have fun!

DorK--I wish I had a pool! But there is a great swimming hole not far from here, got to get myself and Sadie out for a swim today or tomorrow. We both love the water and it's so much fun watching her swim around. And being a single gal, if I don't do things by myself I'd never get to do them.

Mrs. Vino--have fun making breakfast for the sleepover crowd! Will you be making something funny? My mom used to do that when I had friends over. I was embarassed but my friends loved it!

Wahine--I love being on the ocean, but I have a great deal of respect for her moods and strength. I would not go out on the ocean alone, for sure! I never thought about a tour, I bet I can find one of those around here. Glad your folks are getting full price for the property. It seems like there is always something that gets lost when someone moves. Hopefully the items aren't terribly valuable, monetarily or sentimentally.

    Bernie--LOL!!!

    Hi girls, happy monkeydey!

Orange, so sorry that you had to get the other TE out. I feel for you, here is a gentle hug for you. I will drink for you too. I think four months was the amount of time that I had mine out too. Between the two of mine, I had them in and out more than once and it sucked. Try not to dwell on it and know that you will get past this hurdle. I know it sucks. Dwink alot, it helps. I remember flashing mine in an elevator while away in Atlantic City for my 50th birthday. My DH was mortified but I was jest so dwunk that I did not care.

Cyn, glad your preop went well. Sorry that you will be in the bathroom alot on the day prior to your surgery. Hate that. I am doing well with work, the first week is the hardest but I got slammed with new loans to work on and keep myself very busy. I have not yet done any overtime but that will start soon since my end of month is heavy.

NM, loved your morning post. I peaked in from work today but had to get out before i got caught drinking on de job. I am glad to know that you will not drown, that would really suck. good luck with the new job opportunity. I hope it works out.

Unde', I am counting down the days until I see you and de other goils. Four days, yippee for you. I think having the TE's in separately instead of at the same time as the mastec is a great idea. My team of docs had the idea that it was better to take the tits off and put on the new ones at de same time but I bet it will be easier on you since you are healed from the mx. I hope you do well with the TE's. I did not mind them as much as some of the girls, they were just weird feeling as are the implants. Hopefully you are good and numb where the doc will cut and you will only feel discomfort vs pain. I promise to make sure the docs do a good job. If not, Allie will whack them in de back of dere legs!

Lori, your DD is very pretty and her man ain't bad either. I have no problem sleeping 12 hours or more, I get so tired all de time. Perhaps because I am sleep deprived during the week. I make up for it on the weekends. I came home from work today and immediately went to bed. But that is because I was up until 2am last night. Seems sleeping until 2pm yesterday had me still well rested at my usual bedtime and I could not go to bed on time. I was nearly falling asleep at work today. oops.

Hello to Juliet and Bernie. I hope you girls had a good dey.

I will see all you fine goils on twosdey, yippee!!

    Cheers!

DORK-I'm ready for anything now that I have my script filled. My doc insisted I take the Norco as it will probably be rough. She said I could get pneumonia from hurting and not coughing enough. She finally found something that scares me more than taking pills does. But i'm so thin she said I may have them pressing against my ribs. And what's the deal with bras, when can I wear one? Over the T.E.'s or not until I get the implants???  ALLI-Have yer bat ready! ORANGE-LOTS of dwinks fer youse

Orange, it is almost Pau Hana time here, so I will dwink for ya too! Getting used to my dad's "Early Times" but will be nice when I am home with my Seagrams again! Hang in there, you will be ok, and then in a few months, the IMPLANTS and you can flash em all you want to (since Dork gave us that idea!). Actually I used to show mine a lot, cuz nurses wanted to see the work my dr did (which is awesome)....and since they are fake, and no feeling in dem, does not really feel like my boobs did, so doesn't embarrass me. Except I couldn't show my mom....that would be weird! LOL.

Well, quite a scare today. My dad's sis in AR, called at SIX ayem, and first of all, it woke me up after only ONE hour of sleep. Man I was a zombie. BUT my parents were sleeping in the house, and my mom got up quick to try to get the phone, slipped and fell and got 2 long, deep gashes on her arm. Took her to the ER and couldn't stitch cuz skin is so thin (shes 91), so they "super glued" the edges together. Not until we got home did we notice the large lump across half her forehead which was now turning black and blue. Didn't even know she hit her head, and that must've been quite hard. So trying to make sure to watch her for unusual signs. Then of course I was so sleep deprived after hardly any sleep for 4 nights, and NO coffee (have 1-2 cups every morn, except here cuz its hot with no a/c)....so I asked my dad if we could stop at McD so I could get some iced coffee, but INSTEAD of stopping nearby, he drove over an hr to the beach condo before he wanted to stop....so I could not even hold my eyes open by then! But enjoyed the beach condo, saw dolphins swimming just straight out from their lanai, and they did a couple of jumps. Someone swam all the way out there from shore, and there were a couple of boats nearby too. Just found out they bring tourists out to "swim with the dolphins" right there! Geez, we could do it for free. They used to bait for sharks, and have people in cages in the water with the sharks. NEver had them before that, then they were there a lot. MUCH rather have dolphins than sharks!!!! SO now to see if my mom's purse is in the house (we had to drive back to condo when half-way home thinking it was there). It is scary how forgetful she is now. Also scary riding with my dad driving...he likes to speed up then barely stops in time so doesn't hit the car in front....stop and go rush hour traffic.....yikes!!!

Lori, ANother BEAUTIFUL pic of your darling DD and her hubby!!! She is just gorgeous, and that hat was cute! Oh, and you would like sushi. Sushi does not mean raw fish it usually means rice that has a rice vinegar mixture making it have a good taste, then wrapped in seaweed (nori) or bean curd. OR it can be plain rice, with different raw fish on it, or other stuff. Sashimi is the word for raw fish, but so many think that is what sushi means. YOu can get a CAL roll that has avocado, etc in it and no fish, etc. We need to go on a sushi run!!!!

NM, Glad things are working out better at work, but the hospice position sounds really like it would suit you!

oh shucks, someone called about moving all the stuff, selling cars, etc and kept me on the phone so long that my dad keeps yelling for me to come down for happy hour. This is all HIS stuff I am doing.....LOL. I need the entire bottle!!!

    Cheers! Kath

Ha, ha, ha, Juliet, that is what I feel like!!!

I have been trying to do SO much, but both my dad's stepsons are trying to convince me to let the movers do ALL the packing. IT would be nicer to enjoy our time, thats for sure. And my dad wants us to go to Hilo on Big Island for 2-3 days, so lots to think about. OH, one of stepsons couldn't reach us and came over and door was unlocked and no one home and my mom's purse on table, so HE took it home for safe keeping. WHEW, and we thought she lost it somewhere. SO he came over tonight too. I really need a few minutes of sanity and HOPE to take something and sleep tonight. Right now my mom thinks it was YESTERDAY she fell, and not today.

Oh Beansie, I hate that some things fell through. YOU are doing so much too, and there is only so much we can do. I hope the wonderful feeling of owning that cabin will override all the bad things. THINKING of YOU and hope things start working out very better!!! (((Jean)))

Hugs to all, sorry I have not responded to all....when I read the posts I have so much to say then by the time I can post, it all goes *poof* and I don't remember it all. AND things here have been overly hectic.

    Hugs to all!

NM, das cute that Silly Sadie wanted you up. Maybe if 7 am is your usual, she was confused by you sleeping later? Good luck on the new job front, I sure hope you get it, you certainly have the heart to do hospice work.

Orange, I'll have a drink or 10 foy you, and give you a hug. This is a tough bitchin road, for sure. We are here for you. (((((ORANGE)))))

Thanks Lucy, my DD lives there, been there for almost 2 years now.

Thanks Juliet, I like to share pictures. I don't think you could pay me, to go in gator invested waters. Nope, no way!

OMG DorK, how in the world do you stay up so late and then go to work? I think the latest I stay up is about 10, and almost always up at 5. You all always tell me how beautiful my DD is, that is so sweet. Of course, I do too, and yes her DH is cute too, but I do not like him. She is happy tho, and that is all that matters.

Shannon, we will remind you to cough, can't hab you get pneumonia. As foy de bra, you probably won't need one.

Kathy, that's funny that you couldn't show your mom your boobs. I wouldn't have a problem showing my mom anything. Oh dear, just read about her fall and hitting her head. I'm so sorry, that is just awful. I hope she is ok. And so is your no sleeping awful. Maybe you should get a hotel room for a couple of nights, WITH AC. Glad her purse was not lost, but why didn't the stepson just lock the door? Thank you to you too for commenting on my DD. She is wearing a mask, not a hat, she just has it on top of her head instead of wearing it across her eyes.

Tank ewe Beans. I sawry your deals fell through, but OH SO HAPPY dat de cabin is OURS. I mean yours. But we can come and party, right? And I hope you ear dun't fall off, you will look punny.

Good morning, Loungettes! Another beautiful day in the neighborhood, friends! Got a bit of a list of chores today--get the stuff off the deck so it's ready when they come to fix it, mow the dog's yard, put out the trash, cut up fruit for fruit salad to have in the fridge. Plan out what I'm going to do with Bookart on Thursday. I am so looking forward to meeting her! I've also tweaked some of my meds and am finally feeling like I have some energy, which is a very good thing! Yes, I do know I shouldn't do that without talking with my PCP, but I am a nurse and we make very bad patients, after all!

Orange--Oh, my dear, I cannot imagine how much your situation sucks, but I do recognize that it does, out loud and big time. I wish there was something I could say or do to make things better. Let's get you set up in a hammock with the percotini fountain on one side and the fuckitol dispenser on the other.

CynCyn--didn't get to the swimming hole yesterday, the breeze came up and it cooled off nicely, so I hit the farm stand and did some much needed grocery shopping after my appointment with the PS. Both sites are now healed, no complications, the path report said the mole was just a mole. I didn't think I was worrying about that until I realized how relieved I felt when I got the report. Hope you got a great night's sleep!

Juliet--I never realized how lucky I am until I see you southern ladies talking about gators and snakes in the water! Nothing like that up here. Yes, some snakes will swim, but none up here are venomous, just frightening. And definitely no gators! The worst I have to worry about is a charging moose mamma, and that's pretty rare! And yes, there are sharks in the Atlantic off the Maine coast, but most are only about 2 feet long and harmless to humans (except for our fingers, but if you don't put your fingers in their mouth you're ok), it's rare to run into a big one unless you are in deep water. There was an article in the local paper this am talking about how great whites can be found in the gulf of Maine, and have been sited north of here off Newfoundland. I'm thinking, duh, we get whales all the time, why not sharks? We've got seals for them to feed on, after all!

DorKable--Please don't get caught dwinking on the job! I'm sure you'll start getting the OT pretty soon, there seems to be enough work out there for that to happen. Nothing like some OT $$$ to make you feel rich!

Undy--pneumonia is a very real complication after surgery, especially when there is any pain the chest or abdomen. People don't want to take deep breaths or cough when it hurts--can you imagine that? I know that and I had to be really pushed into doing the deep breathing thing after my recon surgery. But pneumonia is worse, believe me! The bra question would be a good one for the PS--I'm surprised they didn't talk to you about that before hand. Thanks for the pretty dwinkies!

Wahine--Isn't it weird what we don't mind showing and what we do? It continues to amaze me that I don't care a whit about anyone seeing the foobs, or most of the rest of me, for that matter, but I will be sure my underwear is well hidden before anyone comes into the room. How odd is that? YIKES about your Mom! If the ED staff were doing their job right they checked her for head injury while she was there. Thank heavens for super glue, it helps things heal much better and prevents lots of infections associated with stitches. Did you know that Super Glue was originally developed as a skin sealer and then found more uses in the general market? And yes, you can use Super Glue on cuts and scrapes at home. The second skin products on the market are basically superglue that's been thinned out some so it will brush on. I hear you about the coffee, I have to have my cup or 2 no matter how hot it is. No coffee, no wakee, cranky NM. It's kind of scary riding with my Mom, too, she doesn't see speed limit signs sometimes, and is always either accelerating or braking, never anything in between. AND she just got a new car that looks more like a jet liner cockpit than a car, she hunts to find the button or whatever she wants and isn't watching the road sometimes. And she thinks I drive badly!

Beanie--you need to get blue tooth phones and use earsets--much easier and less pain than holding a phone to your ear! Sleep tight! Hooray for closing on the cabin!!!!!

    Bernie--LOL!

Orange--I'm going to give you my pain management lecture, so listen close: Take the pain pills. Take them as soon as you notice the pain increasing. Research shows that people who do this actually take fewer pain pills over all, because the pills work faster and longer if taken while the pain is less intense. Yes, they may make you sleepy, but your body does most of it's healing work while you are sleeping so that is a good thing all the way around. Let people take care of you for a while. Or let the house take care of itself. I can tell you from experience that the housework will still be there when you are recovered and have the energy to deal with it. Also, being in pain stops the healing process. So waiting until the pain is severe before taking pain pills slows down your healing and creates more problems that the very low chance of addiction. Even if someone does develop a tolerance to the pain medication there are established protocols for weaning someone off the medication. AND--patients have a right to have their pain well controlled, and we get held accountable if you aren't taking the pain pills and have more pain than necessary! So for the sake of your nurses, TAKE THE PAIN PILLS!

Princess Glitter Sizzle's DOTD is the SuperGlue
    1 liter Red Wine
    60 g Sugar
    1 Cinnamon
    125 ml Water
    3 (bruised) Clove
    1 tbsp Lemon Peel

    Directions
Boil sugar and spices in water, leave in the water for 30 minutes. Strain the spiced water and mix with the wine. Heat slowly until short of boiling temperature. (To remove alcohol, let it boil for a while.) You may add lemon or orange juice to taste. Serve in irish coffee cup.

    Good Morning !!

One of the beautimous things about working from home is the ability to mute the phone durring a boring meeting and write to you all which I find much more productive.  Innocent

After today ...only 3 days left ....yeahhhhh!!!

Kath....I sure hope your mom is ok...its so scary when elderly folks fall...glad her purse was found.

DorK.....hope  you get some OT soon...I know how much that can help.  I try to pick it up at work but it allways seems to be offered durring times Im allready scheduled for or on times Im not available.

NM...dont forget about the rare black bear. .... I just love the moose but not so much durring their rutting season. ...I  read an article about a great white off Cape Cod recently. Good luck to you on your new job endeavor I think also that you will be great at it.

Orange....Listen to NM ..she is a smart cookie and awsome at making sure we all understand our rights.

Maybe I should pay attention to my meeting now...sighhhh..

Hello and Good Morning to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An answer I can understand. An American tourist asks an Irishman: "Why do Scuba divers always fall backwards off their boats?"
To which the Irishman replies: "If they fell forwards, they'd still be in the fickin boat."

Orange--after 3 surgeries in 5 weeks it's a wonder if any part of your body DOESN'T ache and hurt.  Take your pain pills like a good girl and your fav tender/wench will come over and gently rock you to sleep in your hammock, and pop more fukitols in your mouth when you wake up, and wash them down with percotinis.  You'll feel much better soon!

FYI--got a call from the agency I applied to the other day.  The particular position that I applied for has been taken by an internal candidate, but there are other positions open and opening up, so I'm going to get to interview anyway.  I would so like to do just hospice work, but I'm not interested in the management position they'd like me to look at.  It'll be interesting to see how this all works out!

Yes, GOOD LUCK NM, hope it all works out for the BEST job for you Yeah, I agree, the ER nurses and dr SHOULD have noticed the lump and discoloration on her forehead as it was totally visible. BUT we didn't notice it either, just focusing on the horrid lacerations on her arm. We didn't notice it till we were out at the beach condo and she rubbed her forehead cuz it hurt! THEN it was so obvious, with the swelling, etc.....I am surprised none of us noticed. ANd when she was in the ER my dad and I were with her every min, so I know none of them checked out her head. WIth my dad being hard of hearing, and my mom not focusing on what was going on, they ended up just talking to me, and I would relay the info.

I SLEPT a few hrs last night....HOORAY for PM pills....and total exhaustion, which combined, allowed for some sleep!!! Don't drink coffee here, as I would get too hot. BUT the nights really have cooled off, and good breeze all night (knock on wood), so hopefully I can sleep from now on. Picked up another haul of mangoes that had fallen to the street....they are so ripe and sweet, the tiny ones have a teeny tiny seed! Beautiful sunrise from upper lanai this ayem, and walked the beach at 6, already outrigger canoe paddlers were practicing, etc. Very nice!!!!

    HUGS to all you sweeties!!!
