Good afternoon, Loungettes! Still can't get the riding mower to start, so I've been plugging away at mowing the yard with the electric push mower. Have to keep taking breaks cause I get pooped out and dripping sweat, even in the stiff breeze! Still, I could use the exercise so that's ok.

Wahine--I'm sorry the ER staff didn't check your Mom for a bunp on the head. That is standard procedure after a fall, especially if the person who fell is elderly, as in 65 or older. Still, there's very little chance there's any more damage than a bruise and a lump. Glad you got to sleep last night, and here's to sleeping well the rest of the time you are there! The mangoes sound terribly yummy, wish I could try some!

Thanks for all the good wishes, and keep me in your prayers regarding job decisions. I really would like to be able to go to church regularly again, and use ALL my skills, including the case management skills I've worked so hard to develop and not just manage admissions, deaths and crises. BUT, time will tell. . .

Forgot to mention I liked those funneeees, Bernie!\

Good for you, doing the yard manually, NM! I am thankful we have had nice cool breezes here. Cuz I get sweaty (I mean *glistening*) when we are doing all this work too. Hope that riding mower will co-operate soonliest!!!!

Did I stumblebumble into ya, Cyn??? Well in case I did, I am handing you a ICE COLD Natty!

My mom saw the dr today after dentist, and he thinks she will be ok. BUT they were gone so long I did get worried. They need to have their final appts with their drs and not sure if we will collect their records, or what.

YOU all are prolly enjoying Pau Hana right now, but I still have 3 1/2 hrs to go, and yes....my dad is VERY prompt on it being right at 5, or earlier, never later!

    So....later taters...

i second nm advice on pain meds, orange and shannon, the last thing we want is for you to lie like abump on a log because it hurts to move, can you say dvt and pneumonia, cough and deepbreathing and the leg exercises will greatly lower the risk of them happening, and if any ladies smoke, the best thing you can do for your health and wallet is to quit because it does intefear with healing too, plus they most important thing to remember when taking pain meds don't get constipated so drink plenty of fluids and take  either a stool softener or laxative.  kathy glad your mum is doing better, but alittle concerned that they didn't appear to check out  her head, because thats the first question we ask someone thats fallen did you hit your head?   nm prayers you get the job you want and deserve, have agood night ladies

NM, I don't think you are a bad patient. I sometimes think the nurses know more than the doctors and they are definitely more compassionate. I have a very funny image of you being chased by a moose! Still wishing you all the best on new job position. I too look at some things that I don't like to do as exercise!

LOL @ Cyn for stepping out of her meeting to be with us and then stumbling in, only to leave!

Orange, you poor dear you. My heart really goes out to you. I hope you can feel better quickly. You and DorK may have to compare surgeries and surgeries gone bad.

Kathy, I think we need a DOTD with those Mangos. I just know you will share. Glad you are getting some rest and I hope mom continues to be ok. Love your dad's promptness for pau hana.

OMG Dork, you crack me up "KatyDeHawainDwunk". And yes, you  wuz a bad goil. Dorky gots in to anudder car accident (not her fault and was a fender bender) but her bad self did not calls da police. So, I yailed at her. Hers is ok, but I will also tail you, she played de cancer card, and sayed, you wouldn't screw a cancer patient would you and bared her scars!

Mango Mohitos anyone? Courtesy of Wawa's mangos.

    Ingredients

1 1/2 oz. Herradura Silver Tequila
    3 sprig(s) Mint 2 tsp. Sugar
    1 tbsp. Lime Juice
    2 1/2 oz. Mango Juice
    1 splash(es) Club Soda

Muddle the mint leaves, sugar and lime juice in the bottom of a tall glass. Add Herradura and mango juice. Add a splash of club soda and ice cubes. Serve with a mint leaf garnish.

We had some mangos left over, so we made some Mango Shrimp Coctail

DORK-No freaking out, lol. Just thinking, but on yer orders I will stop thinking of the what-ifs. Instead I will think only positive thoughts. I am going to have the prettiest, most spectacular girls. And Stella called me to say she's going to carjack the likker truck when it comes to my local store. I'm going to be set fer de booze.  LORI-That shrimp plate looks so good, refreshing in this 100 degree weather. Mostly though I was thinking I'd like to roll in the ice, lol.  NM and JULIET-Thank you so much fer de advise. I will def listen to doc's orders and hit the pills when I need it. I DON'T want pneumonia. And I will be walking lots. I walked a lot last time even when it was annoying and I walked like a 100 yr old lady. But walking is walking. ORANGE-Good attitude you have. I might think of the bad that can happen in this situation but I always laugh and make jokes about it too. That's the only way to get through it sometimes. KAT-Hope you can enjoy your paradise a little bit. Well off to Hollywood w/the sibs. Going to eat, sight see and relax. Cheers all!

HIYA Loungettes!!! Bet most of youse are habbing Pau Hana right now. I gots ta wait a bit. I def need to get some beer for my fridge up here, could have used one right now with the fishcake I had for lunch.

Lori, the mango mojitos look good! One thing else thats awesome are Mango Margaritas! My DH makes such good ones, even have some huge margarita glasses for them. Wish we could get ripe ones like these, at home. NOthing like tree-ripened mangos, they are sooooo sweet! Didn't get my road-mangos this ayem as I slept, and past 6ayem even! WooHoo those PM pills habs bin woiking!

Yeah Cyn, you are so right....not fun and games for me. Very frustrating, as its hard to get them to focus on what needs to be done. I know it is overwhelming to them, but these are decisions that THEY need to make. Oops...just heard a noise and looked down to the house...my mom came outside and was going to look thru the trash. GLAD I saw her, as she forgot she gave me the letter her cuz wrote about visiting this month. SHe thought she had thrown it away, with his address. So I was able to holler down at her....NOW she will take a nap! This is her first cuz, but much younger than her. BUT he is arriving right when the movers are supposed to do the moving, which is 2 days b4 I leave. Hope they can see him after, as they will stay on a few more days. Luckily the stepsons want the beds and lots of furniture, cuz my parents can use them till they leave.

OK, rambled on LONG ENUF!!! Thinking of all you girls, and wish you all were here ont he lanai, and we could drink and look out at the water and the islands, and "talk story" (like they call it, here) in person! OH, this is funny, most of you know that "Okole Maluna" means "bottoms up", as okole is your bottom. Well, I just tossed a napkin holder that said "Okole Maluna"! LOL. We need that in the HTL.

    Okay, surfs calling me......

    Hugssssssssss! K'aloha

Lori, tank you for de ubber delish dwinks, mango baby, yeee hawwww! Tank you for tailing de goils on mese. Eberyting is squared away with my insurance company, I ended up filing de claim online last night. I jest can't believe I was freaking hit again. Seriously, I travel so few miles and had two accidents in two months. I could blame de likker but nope, not involved, jest stewpid men. Wahine say dat mese car is a man magnet but de dern men ain't sposed to be hitting mese car

Unde',  mese glad you not stressing ober de tings dat can happen. I like yer attitude and know that you will do well. And you will jest love habing foobs agen. I hope all goes well but have no doubt that it will all be jest fine. Jest tink, in two deys from now, you will have yer foobs. I tink dat a reason to partay. Oh, I foygot to say tank you to Beanie and Cyncyn for helping me pack de bus. Wese got it loaded up and ready to roll. Some of us wil take de UFO but I's taking de bus. And I can't wait to get teeeeny tiny. Oh, I has to be careful not to fart whilst with you. last time, one slipped out and de hospital needed a hatmat team to clear out de odor. I promise not to eat baked beans for breakfast again!

Juliet, I loved your moo-disorder comic, dat was funny. I love you for making all of us laugh all de time. And Bernie too, she crack me up with her funny jokes.

Bernie, I hope tings are good for you. Can you tail me if it is winter dere in Ireland? Mese nephew is going dere on a vacation next week wtih friends from college. I sure wish I could sneak in his suitcase den stop by and visit you and yer babies too.

Well I am going to try out my new bathing suit in de water. One plus of having BC was de reduction in de size of mese boobies, I used to have such a hard time finding a one piece bathing suit that fit my big goils and my widdle ass. I am starting to feel like a normal goil....well as normal as I can be considering I am crazy ennyway!!

Cheers ladies, and lots and lots of love to all of you! Please, someone join me for Pau Hana at de pool! Be dere or be square......

Cyn, glad you had fun at de alternative bar.  I am glad to see you getting out of de house for fun tings. Do you wanna join me in de pool for a swim? Or jest grab a raft and we can float. Yippee for two deys of work. I will be envious when you are hanging in de lounge whilst I werk but such is life. I hope that your time off is pleasant as can be.

Katykins, how's your momma todey? I sure hope tings wnt better for you all todey. I know it is too early for pau hana but can you join me and Cyndie at de pool? De boys are whipping up some segrams and diet for you, some natti's for Cyn and some JACK DANIELS for mese, yippeee!

NM, tanks for stopping in. It is always nice to see you stop by. I hope your meeting went well and dat it twas not cancelled again, hate dat.

Orange, I like your attitude. I know it is hard going through losing de expanders but you will get them back before you know it. You are being so brave about it. And good for you in getting yerself some pain meds. Stock up on dem for when you have a bad dey. I am glad you found us. It would totally be more difficult without de goils of de lounge to understand and support you.

Kathy - NO AC???? Now I know why you not sleeping.  I think dat why I slept soooooo good in Otis.  Window wide open 40 outside at night.  Wonderful!!  Hey, can you mail me some a dem mangos?  j/k  About da implants.  I got my 1st set of foobs when I was jes 23 yoa. and I flashed them allllllll the time and even showed my mom.  She thought they was beautimus...LOL!  I miss my mom...she was such a hoot!!  I say....YES...let da movers do da packing...with you supervision of course!  So glad he was smart enuf to take your moms purse for safe keeping but not happy of da scare it put on u and ur mom.

Juliet - too funny poochy sitting on dat cat, n chocolate motivation for da treadmill.  And of course...Maxine is my all time fav!!  And now I realize how far behind I am...wet kitties...oh meeeessseee!

Orange - dese goils makin pun a ewe spwellin...les see dem git on mese fers mine.  Alli may be da queen of da louibibill but mese gots da ‘make my day' speshall!  And I missed where ewe sed you were born in Nov (I kno it was 1973).  I's a Nov baby too, but old enuf to bees ewe momma.  Hey...what day in Nov...I'm da 6th....aint telling ya da year.  j/k  About your TE's....sad...(((Orange))) OOO and a BIG ASS DWINK TWO THREE FOUR!!!

Dorka - I wudda lubbed ewe to come wif me to Portland and den to Otis.  We could all go to Otis next summer.  Ya'll love brothers B & B.  Da treehouse sleeps 4 peeps too.  See also my response to Lori.  Glad you are keeping busy, but glad you been taking time to stop in to da lounge.  And such sweetness to Orange...yes I think you can relate the most to her right now.  And sweetness to Undy too.  I think you are right.  My BS would not have let my PS in if I'd opt'd for the bi-lat.  She wanted me to heal 1st, oh, and of course she would have done rads to my chest wall too.  But generally, I think that the way she operates and I love her to death.  So rads or no rads, I think you are spot on about Undy n the healing 1st

Undy - I gots ewe on me calendar.  Will b weel widdle whilst ewe under da goot drugs.  Will makes sure docs do da rite thing...n Alli b der wif her louibill slugger too.  Kno you'll be glad to git rid a da ‘stuffed' bra thingy too.  Funnee ewe 3 youngins talking about da big 40....hail...nuttin to it.  I'm wif Lori...wait til ya hit da ½ century mark.  But ya kno, now...I actually look forward to turning another year older...never thot I'd say that before RB.

NM - Hope da new job op pans out.  My SIL in Otis has been a nurse for 4 decades.  She is now some head something at Tillamook Hosp in OR.  She was noticing my skin scales n scabs, not a lot, but bothersome so I didn't worry.  She told me to go get a shingle shot, to insist on it even tho I'm not quite 60.  Said something about immune compromise with da RB and fact my mom had it etc.  Watch you think, you ever hear of this?  N about da ‘who's da youngest' contest, I seem to remember a ‘who's da oldest' in dis group too.  Do you remember who holds that esteemed title???  Does anyone wanna jump in and claim it...mese forgets...jes I kno I'm not it...LOL  Love the Fukitol Shower...never seen dat before!  And hey thanks for the info on the superglue.  My friend had a BAD fall in OR.  Cudn't get in for stitches within in the allotted time, so next day the doc glued him.  So cool.  I remember a friend in MT would get horrible splits in the skin of his fingers by his nails and would use superglue, jes didn't kno it could be used on a bloody, deep, wound.  Cool!

Bernie - mese missed you and ewe funnies.

Beans - no worries, you will be in you new cabin soonliest I hope.  Try not to stress about things in Hoth...K?  And what NM said about the blue tooth....I wudn't be without mine and plus, in Nev it's the law when driving, jes in case you didn't kno dat.  :-)

    Later Ladies!!

Ahhhhhh dat was an amazing swim. Tanx Dorkie for memindin me to go foah ah swim!! Jest got back, showered, now to WOIK again. Gotta share what I saw though...had to walk prolly 1/2 mi to the wide open beach;access here has just a small beach now, good for privacy but not when swimming alone. Anyway, a dz kayaks were on a tour and paddling back from the island, right near me. Then later, several individual kayakers. Some stand-up paddlers were there, and surfers were further down, but could see them. Someone had a HUGE inflatable raft type thingie with about 2' sides on it, and benches...all inflatable, and only 2 peeps in it (looks like cud fit 8), glad it was anchored near the shore, or they might have gone bye-bye into the deep blue. Water so clear, that nice lt turquoise color, so could see to the sand. Then there was a wedding a few yds down the beach. Prolly Japanese from Japan, as they arrange a lot of weddings where its a pkg, flights, etc. THEN after aobut 30 min it started a lt rain (already stopped now) but the wedding couple and photog, and minister left in a hurry!! LOL. AND I got one more ripe yummy mango on the way home. While I was swimming I really did picture you all there with me in the water, talking story!!!

Hi Sue! Yeah, no a/c. Glad you are back at the HTL....youse wuz berry missed!!!

    Hugssssssss,

Good morning, Loungettes! Lovely sunny morning here, going to be warm but not hot, perfect day for sightseeing and visiting! I am so looking forward to meeting Elaine later this morning. This is going to be such fun!

Goldie--thanks for saying I'm not a bad patient! I like to think that I've come to know my body pretty well, but maybe it's just the control freak in me coming out. I always feel better when I'm in control of things!

Orange--hydro land is a good place to be for a while, enjoy your trip!

Undy--walking is walking, very true. Just take your pills and take your naps in between your walks and you will do just fine!

CynCyn--multitasking is a good thing when you can get away with it. Wish I could get away with it during some of my meetings!

Wahine--It's hard to watch our parents aging, isn't it? Glad the PM pills are working, even if it does mean you miss out on the road-mangos! Keeping them on track must be hard work. Bottoms UP, indeed!

DorKable--funny how it's always women who are the butt of the bad driving jokes, but it's men that hit YOU! Definitely the wrong kind of man magnet car! I got a real size reduction in the boobies, too, and I agree it is GREAT! I haven't worn a bra since recon surgery and LOVE it! Now if only I could have a widdle ass. . . And the Wed am meeting wasn't cancelled, but the pm meeting was, which is a good thing because I was told there wasn't one in the pm when I called Tuesday. Makes me so mad that there can be these meetings scheduled but not put on my calendar and I'm supposed to show up for them. Ah, well, not going to let that bother me today!

Mema--playing ketchup? Fun, fun, fun! But you do a great job of it! Yes, I have heard about the shingles vaccine, and it is recommended for people who have had chemo. The chicken pox virus lives dormant in the nerve roots right where they come out of the spine, and under stress and/or depressed immune functioning (nothing we ever have to deal with, right?) they can wake up and cause the shingles rash/burning/pain. The theory is that the immune system keeps the virus dormant but the number of circulating antibodies decreases with age (accounting for the increased in shingles in the older population) or when the immune system is stressed/depressed (can you say "chemo," "surgery," "rads," and "worry"? ) Contrary to popular belief, coming in contact with someone with shingles or chicken pox doesn't trigger shingles. HOWEVER--someone who has received the shingles vaccine in the last 21 days CAN transmit the virus to someone who has not had chicken pox. An adult receiving the vaccine can give an unimmunized infant or child chicken pox. Likewise, children who have received the chicken pox vaccine in the last 21 days can give the virus to an immune compromised adult (like someone on chemo) and give them what is called disseminated disease, which is very serious, can be deadly. From the full prescribing information: "
Each dose contains 31.16 mg of sucrose, 15.58 mg of hydrolyzed porcine gelatin, 3.99 mg of sodium
chloride, 0.62 mg of monosodium L-glutamate, 0.57 mg of sodium phosphate dibasic, 0.10 mg of
potassium phosphate monobasic, 0.10 mg of potassium chloride; residual components of MRC-5 cells
including DNA and protein; and trace quantities of neomycin and bovine calf serum. The product contains
    no preservatives."
Oh dear, looks like I got into lecture mode this morning!

Wahine--wish I could have been there swimming with you! Reminds me of one of my favorite memories--I was on a shore excursion from a cruise, many, many years ago now, took a catamaran sail to a secluded cove in the Carribean, forget what island, and spent a lovely afternoon just floating in the gentle waves, with the white sand beach on one side and the cat on the other, no sound but the gulls, waves, and boat creaking. Warm water, very relaxing, timeless. It still makes me relax to think about it. Tourquise, clear water, deep blue cloudless sky, ahhhhhhh. No mangos, though!

    Morning, Bernie!

Princess Glitter Sizzle's DOTD is the Mango Memories
    1/2 oz Banana Liqueur
    1/2 oz Coffee Liqueur
    1 oz Cachaca
    10 sliced (fresh) Mango
    4 oz Mango Juice

    Directions
Add small slices of mango to a hurricane glass. Pour the cachaca, banana liqueur and mango juice in a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes. Shake well, and strain into the glass. Add the Kahlua coffee liqueur. Garnish with a sliced banana and a cherry, and serve.

Orange, you sound a bit excited about being able to pick your bra size, cute!

Shannon, that Stella can be bad, but she can be good too. I hope she doesn't get caught high jacking the likker truck. If she does, that moler focker can bail her out. I got you a nice cool place to go swimming. And I all ready to get teeny tiny and hang wif you tomarry. Any idea when you might be able to check in? Are you staying over at the hospital or is it one of those drive by's. Do you have anyone staying with you, besides your DH? (I believe you are married, but you don't talk about DH much, yes?) Hugs and thinking of you.

Cyn, since you overstayed at the bar, you moosta had a good time? My mom is as good as she can be, thanks for asking. How are the kids doing, are they driving you crazy or are you really enjoying them? How much longer is your DD there? Will she be there for your surgery?

Kathy, so so glad you are getting some sleep. I like those PM's, but only take them if I'm really whooped, as they make me feel groggy in the morning. I think if we were all up on the lanai drinking, it would fall! But oh what fun we would have, eh? The way you tell of what you do while you're there, really makes me feel like we are there with you, even the packing part.

DorK, I will join you for some drinks in yer pool. You look very very sexy in ur new bathing suit. Glad every thing worked out from the accident. Oops, nebermind, I see weese going to de ocean to swim.

    HURRICANE? What hurricane?

Hey Suzi cootie pie, weese glad you home. No, most places in HI do NOT have AC, as they rely on the trade winds. When we were there, we only went to ONE restaurant that had AC and of course our rooms did. So if there are no trade winds, which there wasn't much when we were there, it is HOT. I think it's more the humidity than anything. Your birfday same as my moms. How cool to have the bungalow in a tree house, did you get pictures of that?

    Funny farting cats Julie....lol.

Bernie, should we start on an ark for you? I can't remember making them for Junie, as she always got so much rain.

NM, have a SUPER DUPER time today. We can't wait to hear all about it and hope you can share some pictures. You know how we all like pictures!!!

I think we need MORE MANGO'S

Here we have MANGO COLADA ICE CREAM

And a MANGO PAPAYA ICE CREAM DAQUIRI

    Papaya-Mango Ice Cream Daiquiri

2 cups mango-flavored juice blend or mango nectar, chilled

2 cups fresh golden and/or red papaya, peeled, seeded, and chopped

    1 cup vanilla ice cream

1/4 to 1/2 cup golden rum

    2 Tablespoons of honey

Papaya, mango, and/or lime slices (optional)

Combine mango juice blend, the chopped papaya, ice cream, rum, and the honey in a blender container. Cover and blend until smooth. Pour into 4 to 6 tall chilled glasses. Garnish each glass with the papaya, mango, and/or lime slices, if desired. Serve immediately. Makes 4 to 6 servings.

mema ,they don't reccomend the shingles vaccine to anyone while they are undergoing chemo or rads because your immune system is supressed so it would be worth asking at your next appointment when they reccomend you do get it,have a good day everybody.   going for a nap as neighbours woke me up at 3am this morning. but good news at the pcp, bloodwork and visits now 6 monthly
