Good afternoon, Loungettes! I accepted a formal offer for the job with the Hospice Agency I interviewed at on Monday! My hourly pay will be almost $2 an hour more than I'm making now! I am so excited! And they are excited to have me! I am on top of the world right now! Thanks to you all for the prayers and good wishes!

I'm glad CynCyn is doing well. Not so happy about the robot failing her. Praying for a speedy recovery for CynCyn!

Goldie--I'd be pi$$ed off too if a $600 treatment failed!

Oncotype scoring has only been done routinely in the last few years, and there are places that still don't do them unless asked for. It was considered experimental in 2007 when I was diagnosed, so I didn't even hear about it until it was mentioned here on the boards. At that time I couldn't have afforded it out of pocket, so that was that. Hmmm. I should check into how long the local hospital holds pathology samples and see if I can get it done now that insurance will cover it. I'm gonna have to think on that one.

Next big project is going to be cleaning and staining the "new" deck, than a BIG Deck Partay for my Sistahs!!!!!

O'Lara--I like Katarina, very pretty name! Mrs. Vino threw you a not-your-birthday party! Good reason for a partay! If you don't want your ovaries removed, don't sign the consent. They can't make you do anything you don't want to do.

    Bernie--OK, you got me!

I need you goils help/suggestions and opinions. But will comment first.

NM, prayers for you girl....still! Hoping that you get what you want. You are SO deserving of it, as you are the BEST. And more $$$.

Lara, those are some very tough choices to make and my heart goes out to you and I think you have to do what YOUR heart tells you. (I could be funny and use the word "fart", but this is too serious) There was another gal on here, in the same situation as you. Not sure what stage she started out at and she too wanted children, but she ended up having hyst. I don't want to say what all her diag. was, without checking, or saying too much more. But I'm sure she would talk you, or at the very least, PM you. Let me know.

Alli, you are such a doll............"can't catch a break". Good luck tomorrow, I sure hope that surgeon does you well, and if he/she doesn't, well.............I'm bringin YOUR Louiebille Slugger!

Ok, I went for my pellets, really liked this woman/doctor. She talked with me for a very long time, went over blood work, etc. Her offices are in very affluent places in AZ, Scottsdale and Sedona. She has been on tv, has a blog, and I really don't know why I have these concerns, but I do.

So she wants to do the pellets, change my thyroid meds, give me Vit D and give me Vit B injections. One of the B injections was done at the office and the rest sent home with me. Well when we were leaving they ask if we want a receipt, we say yes.  Well charges were $551 and some change, but no explanation as to what was what. So I call and ask for an itemized bill. They fax that over and it was $100 less than what I was charged. I call back and they tell me that the office visit is billed separate. So they fax that over, and it's like $300 something, but adjusted and patient cost $100.

Ok, that is not what I'm asking of you all. So now I'm getting a red flag. The thyroid meds she gives me (and tells me to stop taking the ones I have) are in a little paper envelope. The Vit B injections are in a paper bag! Are they packaging their own to save money, on their part, but still charging high prices? Here is a photo of what they sent me home with. There is more, but so much to try and relay in "type". My brain is in over drive, have to be ready to go to Laughlin by 8am, not feeling anything from the pellets, AND I'M STRESSED!!!!

I think it's probably ok, but I'm just not sure.

The lady that did my pellets and Vit B injection, I asked her how often for the Vit B injections at home. At first she said daily. I asked again, and she said let me check.............well it is once a week! I have no idea what would have happened to me if I ad done it daily!

Then I called I had called to give them the fax number so they could call the thyroid meds in, as I do mail order through CVS Caremark, and this gal calls back and says "is somthing wrong with what we gave you?" mind you, its in the paper envelope, and she also says "we gave you enough for 60 days" kind of like, why do you need more.

I am just very concerned of how they do and handle things. OMG, I'm babbling! And probably not explaining as well as I should. What do y'all think.

lori ,you are wise to question unmarked medications, while the colour of the injection is right for vit b, i would not like to give myself  an injection i don;t know what the source is,also you could take the pills to a pharmacist and ask them to identify them for you,  ,all pharmacies have a data base for this purpose. these pellets, where are they made and is there labeling on the packaging?      .  i would call the office and voice your concern may be they can allay them for you              good morning bernieLaughing  and for a update on max-he's home and off all his bp meds, he's feeling 10 years younger and enjoying not having to go to dialsys,  his wife was touched that you all kept the donors family in your prayers too,  they both know the price of this new kidney and are so grateful that the persons family made that decision for donation.

Juliet, Glad to hear Max is doing so well...yay!!!! Hoping his body NEVER rejects this kidney!

Lori, Sheesh, that is something. I think whenever we feel "red flags" it is worth checking into. I wouldn't want to give injections to myself, so I couldn't have brought those home to begin with. Remember when I told you all that I take sublingual VitB12? Well, my vet (ok, my dogs vet!) gives the injections to his wife, cuz she has MS, but he is the one that told me the sublingual (disolve under your tongue) works very well. I took so much that my levels were off the chart, so I cut back to 2500mg (was taking 6000mg). I wonder if you could try that? Of course, you already paid for the injections, and if you feel safe giving them to yourself, might as well use those. It might "jump start" your deficiency, and help you. I really don't know what to think about the unmarked meds, but glad that Juliet chimed in, and I hope NM will, also. You could also ask your pharmacy how often the injections should be given, if you want to make sure of the dosage. Damn, if it isn't one thing, its 10 thousand things, isn't it? You saw a reputable dr, and its still scary, cause we never know if we are getting all the right info. You are SMART to double-check and make sure you are given the right stuff, and correct dosage. Let us know how it goes, ok?

Funny Bernie, I'd MUCH rather be the toothbrush!!!!

Been a long day, and was a bit stressful going out to dinner. Even though I double-checked with my mom to make sure she had NO liquids in her carry-on on our trip here, she ended up having a HUGE new bottle of shampoo in a brown grocery sack. SO, of course they had to confiscate it. I gotta check what she packs on the way back tomorrow. My dad was upset as he couldn't find his car keys for his car that was left at the HNL airport, so I kept asking if he checked the carry-on outside pocket, "Oh yes, several times." So I go in their room, check the pocket and find it there. He gets upset cause he had already looked there. Wish he would just be glad I found them! Sheesh. He had been pleasant this entire trip to the Big Island (since yesterday!), wish it had continued.

And Lara, big decision, but with all your info and input from everyone and your drs, I am sure you will make the right decisio. Take your time, don't rush into it!

    Cheers Dears!

    Kath

lori, as i said tablets can be identified by pharmacist, but let me tell you the hopsital policy, unless you drew that med up into a syringe yourself you do not give  or use any unlabelled syringes,   .. is the office far, maybe they can switch them out for you with labelled syringes or give you the vials to draw it up yourself

Good morning, Loungettes! Cool enough to turn off the fans this am, yoohoo! Nice sleeping weather last night. Hope this keeps up for a while.Gotta post this quick since I need to get out the door for a couple of appointments, and drop off my resignation letter.

ORLA--talk to your onc about regular ultrasounds of your ovaries. This is done just like mammograms are done to screen for bc. The recommendation would be at least yearly, more often if there are any suspicious areas on the first one. The cervical cell abnormalities, while frightening, are not so worry some. You're probably already on a yearly Pap test schedule to monitor that situation. I sea no reason you can't go with monitoring rather than surgery. If your MO doesn't agree with your choice maybe it's time to fire him/her and get another one.

Mrs. Vino--I'm in the prep area with you, very, very small, with my very, very small computer. Big deep breaths, now, and we'll make sure your doc does a GOOD job!

Wahine--good point about waiting to clean and stain the deck! Maybe I will wait until after the partay, I'm going to have to rent a power washer and should be sober when using someone else's equipment! Besides, Sadie will LOVE slurping up the spills! She will get REALLY silly then!

Goldie--OK, the Vit B syringes look legit to me. I think they are using a multidose vial (cheaper than individual dose vials) and pre-drawing the dose for you. There are 10 doses in a multidose vial, drawing up individual doses eliminates having to throw away a partial empty vial if they send that home with you. Also, drawing up the dose saves you some work and time and helps ensure that you get the correct dose. The white paper bag looks like ones used by pharmacies all the time. The Amour Thyroid packets look legit as well. They probably buy the pills in bottles of several hundred and repackage them this way, again to decrease cost. The labeling is incomplete, however. Each packet should have your name, date of birth, and directions (take by mouth once a day) and an expiration date. Perhaps this info is on the back? Approximate retail price for Armour Thyroid, 90 mg, 30 tablets is $18.99. The approxi9mate retail price of Vit B12 is $11.99 for a single dose vial, $36.32 for a vial of 30 doses. (from eppocrates.com). My bigger concern is did the doctor give you medication info sheets on each of these? This is an important part of medication teaching and management. Also, did the doctor teach you how to do a Z-track injection? This procedure is necessary to keep the B-12 from leaking and staining the skin. Forgive me if I'm assuming that you are less educated about this stuff than you really are. Vit B-12 is sometimes given daily when someone first starts the therapy, but most often given weekly for a month or so and then monthly as maintenance. So nothing bad would have happened if you took it daily. BUT--that info is supposed to be printed on the package. The response of the gal who took your call is questionable--either she is new and doesn't know about providing prescriptions for ongoing treatment or there is something funny going on. I would be concerned about this practice, too, given the incomplete info you've been given.

Good job, Bernie! ORLA it is!

Chrissy--I'm going to try to arrange some time off the current job so I can go to orientation in Boston Aug 6-7th, but my official end date with the current job is Aug 16th. And I am dwinking lots and lots and lots!

Juliet--I'm so happy for Max, and still praying for the donor and family. Such a bittersweet situation.

Wahine--I can't imagine how stressful it is to have to check your parents luggage, and find the keys and keep track of everything. Glad you Dad has been pleasant!

Juliet--Good points! I guess I've gotten a bit sloppy in home health where I draw up syringes for some patients, but I have the vial in the home and do the 5 rights checks when I do it. Either each syringe should be labeled fully or the bag they are in should be, at the very least.

WHEW.......ok, I feel better girls. Thank you so much, Chrissy, NM and Juliet. I don't think they did/do things properly, but I feel confident that the pills and injections are ok to take. There was no paper work nor any other information on the packages and syringes are not marked. As for the injections, my husband has RA and has given himself injections for YEARS. So he will be the one to give me the vitamin shots.

Julie, so happy for Max and his family and grateful for the donors.

Dork, Dork, Dork, ending up at the wrong hospital? Who was driving?

Sue, have a great day at woyk. I need to get my ever widening white arse mobing too. Off to Laughlin in a bit.

Alli, thinking of you and Cyn too.

I'll probaby be online while traveling. Thanks again goils, you truely are the BEST!

A man walked into a supermarket with his zipper down, and his fly wide open. A lady cashier walked up to him and said, "Your barracks door is open."

This is not a phrase men normally use, so he went on his way looking a bit puzzled. When he was about done shopping, a man came up and said, "Your fly is open."

He zipped up and finished his shopping, and remembering what the cashier had told him, finally understood. He then intentionally got in the line to check out where the lady was that told him about his "barracks door."

He was planning to have a little fun with her. When he reached her counter he said, "When you saw my barracks door open did you see a soldier standing in there at attention?" The lady thought for a moment and said, "No, no I didn't. All I saw was a disabled veteran sitting on two duffel bags."

Lori, WOW you sure got good info from Juliet and NM! Very thankful these gals are in our group! I think we are all also on pins and needles waiting for your pellets to kick in..LOL. I guess if you are MIA for awhile, that would be the big clue...LOL. Really am hoping they work!!!

Juliet, my gawd you are on a roll....is it a sweet roll or a buttered roll? Soooo funneeeeee, my favs are the guys butts (duh!), and the moderation dwinking cat! The barracks door open was funnneee too...glad the cashier put him in his place! LOL.

Jest got up, now my camera is nowhere to be found (in my room that is).....hoping I left it in parents room. Lazy morn, as we don't need to leave hotel till 10 am....yay!!!! I do like my peaceful, alone time, as my dad really was a butt last night! Am hoping he is in a good mood today....was nice for ALMOST 2 wks, since I've been here. When he gets like that and jumps all over us, my mom and I give each other "knowing" looks, when he can't see us. VERY glad she forgets those things right after they happen! Beautiful sunny ayem, wish it had been that way yesterday, but it rained most of the day. Nice day for flying though!!!

Prayers are with Alli and Cyn for good recoveries, and for Orla so she makes the right decision for her, oh and also for Lori, that those new meds work, and for NM as she turns in her notice, and for Dorkie that she doesn't get hit again, and for Bernie that she gets good results on her scan, and.....and....oh shoot, prayers are for ALL you wunnerful loungettes!!!!

    Hi girls,

I spoke with Ms Cyndie this afternoon, poor girl is in so much pain. She did have some complications with her surgery that were tied to the big botched surgery she had years ago that had her in a coma for months. The surgeon had a difficult time going through all the old scar tissue from that prior surgery.  And I think she said that they might have puncutred her bowel in the process.  She sounded good but is not feeling so great. She may be in the hospital until Saturday. We need to keep praying for a quickliest recovery.  I am sending her lots of virtual love and prayers.  She told me to tell you all hello and she is thinking of all of you.

Allison got sprung before noon and her surgery went well too. Last I knew, she was resting comfortably. Prayers going out for her too.

That is the news for todey, brought to you by DorkY, writer, editor, dishwasher, printer and CEO of de HTL Bulletin.

NM, I am sooo happy for you with the new job, when do you start? I was actually tinking of you on Tuesday when I was at my oncologists office. There was a lady that was being sent to hospice, it broke my heart to witness the interaction between her, her son and the nurses. The staff were hugging her and telling her they loved her. that is when I thought of you. It sure was a reality check for me.  I said to my darn self "but through the grace of God, there go I". Things seem to be going very well for you.  Horray!! I will drink to you, cheers!

Orla, I hope you are able to connect with the person Lori mentioned. Isn't this just the best place for information? Forget google, the real deal is here on BCO. I thank God everyday that I stumbled in to this thread nearly two years ago. I seldomly post on other threads, this is my 2nd home. And right about the firemen, boom boom boom wow wow. Does that apply here? lol. I was tinking about having Stella light a fire so those hot men can come and put it out.

Shannon, I am glad that your results are nice. I hope your fills are easy.  The first round was easy for me, but the second time, uh I won't talk about it other than to say it was more challenging. You will really get a kick out of getting your first fill, I found it amazing how the foobs got bigger as I watched.  I am glad you had a nice birthday. Don't be a stranger now, your fans are waiting.

Lori, Mr. Big was driving the bus when he took me to the wrong hospital for Alli's surgery. Ya see, he was dwinking behind de wheel of our partay bus. Have a nice time away, you sure deserve some good times with your DH. YOu are both always werking, ick. And I am also praying that the pellets work for ya.

Kathy, thanks for the prayers on no more crashes. My car will be done either tomorrow or Monday. The estimate was 2600. There was additional damage other than my bumper. Funny ting that my five year old car now has a brand new front and back. I am hoping they got out the back quarter panel is fixed from when it was hit at the parking garage in Philly. They buffed it out pretty good when it was in last time but I could still see where I was hit. Ok ok, boring ~yawn~. Keep up the good times, I hope your Dad stays in a good mood for the rest of the trip. Big party is soon, yippeeee! I will be dere but you will not see me. hehe.

MemaSue, miss you in de lounge, hope you gits some time off werk soonliest. I gotz some Jose fer you. Miss you, Suz.

Bernie and Juliet, always enjoy the funny jokes and pics, tanks for de laughs!

Well I need to get a refill of those rulebreaker dwinkies, dey yummy, tanks NM.

    Cheers, and titties up!
