I had not noticed that my avatar wasn't showing up with my posts, but how odd! The format shift is driving me nuts, too, I just got use to the last one! But that's ok. There was a domestic disturbance yesterday not far from where I live, murder/suicide is the determination. This is getting to be just too common for comfort. Had a chat with the remaining supervisor, who totally forgot that we were supposed to meet to review my performance this afternoon. I didn't remind her. Bad of me, I know, but there it is. I'm going to work some next week to help out the co-workers who will be struggling with being short staffed and the super is giving me most of the 5th off so I can drive to Boston during reasonable hours. Looked at my latest pay stub, I've got 180 hours of earned time that they'll have to pay me for when I leave, that should come to about $5K before taxes, should leave me with $2-3K after. That should cover the COBRA payment for August and September, I hope. It's all starting to come together!

Dear God: Let me give you a list of just some of the things I must remember to be a good dog.
1. I will not eat the cats' food before they eat it or after they throw it up.
2. I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc. just because I like the way they smell.
3. The litter box is not a cookie jar.
4. The sofa is not a "face towel."
5. The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff.
6. I will not play tug-of-war with Dad's underwear when he's on the toilet.
7. Sticking my nose into someone's crotch is an unacceptable way of saying "hello."
8. I don't need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm under the coffee table.
9. I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house-not after.

Is the alarm clock DOA? FYI-- while on prednisone you should stay out of the sunlight as much as possible, photosensitivity is very common and presents as rashes and bumps. Use sunscreen with SPF 50 or better, even under your clothes!

Wahine--I am so glad your folks are going to be closer to you so you can keep an eye on them. Sounds like they need a guardian angel. Speaking of guardian, has your Mom made arrangements for bill paying and such when she isn't able anymore? Meaning a Power of Attorney--has she named someone and done the paper work? If not it's something that should be thought about very, very soon, as she may not be considered mentally competent enough soon. Then the family has to go through the hassle of getting the courts to declare her mentally incompetent and name a guardian, and that takes time and money and causes stress. Need to be sure you or one of your sibs are listed on the bank accounts, too. I don't know about the laws in Alabama, but in Maine a family member can get put on accounts like electric, rent, gas, oil, water, etc so if the bills aren't getting paid someone knows before it becomes a big backlog and a huge problem. I've seen too many situations where the kids didn't know that Mom and/or Dad were about to be evicted, or had the electric turned off due to non-payment when the money was there, but the parent forgot . It's so sad and so much hassle to get straightened out. Much better to prevent such situations.

Well NM, guess you can be me for your last post, LOL. Sooooo weird and I did notify the mods and they said they would notify the techies. But how long does it take them??? THANKS for the info on POA and paying bills, etc. I am on their bank acct, and since my dad does all the finances, I hadn't thought about that. BUT sounds like something to do ASAP. I know he is getting a little forgetful lately, lots of stress, but with his age, I realize there are lots of things I need to do, soonliest. First off, I need to get them a good dr, and mine is not accepting new pts. Will be sooo much to do to get them permanently settled here. At least they have a home here and can move right back in, before all the tons of stuff gets delivered by the movers. Not even sure where it all will go. Have a good work day! And, how sad about the murder/suicide nearby....
