Oh Bernie, is that what happens after we dwink all dose buckets a dog beers? Speaking of dog beers, and how much our Junie liked her buckets of MLs, it is coming up on one year. Her online guest book will be gone soon, and I just revisited it and didn't realize how many loungettes from the HTL had written something there. So touching, reading how she touched us all, esp those that had not met her in person. What a gal. She surely is missed.

Juliet, Hope our CyndieLouWho has some coffee before seeing that picture...Boom Chica Wow Wow!

Dorkie, Hope you got some sleep last night so youse kin face MonKey Dey and the hectic last 2 days of the month. Hope all goes well!

    Good luck today OLara!

And good luck Twosdey, Cyn *wink, wink*!

NM, Lori, Alli, Beansie,SusieQ,Chrissy,Jaybird, and all de udder loungettes....have a great MonKey Dey!!!! I couldn't sleep much, worried about my parents leaving today, and HOPING they don't leave something important behind. At least I brought my mom's meds with me! Thinking of you all, and also thinking maybe we shud have a BIG blowout partay in memory of Junie, on Aug 1st....that would be HumpDey. Whattdya think????

    HUGSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

Sue, I was doing work outside, not work work. I refuse to do that on my weekends, unless it is absolutely necessary. You funny about Alli's tan.....ewwwwww.

Orange, wishing you the bestest luck today on your interview and stay away from Tanya and her ring, can't be going with a deflated foob.

Oh Ya Julie, dat be Magic Mike!!!!!

Oh Cyn, dat some yummy looking deserts, thanka ewe. Wow, your son wants to shop at Goodwill, luck you!!!

LOL @ Wawa for having a whole mouthful of sweet teeth. But that's cuz you so sweetliest. You mentioned taking a bottle of wine with "US" , back to your moms. Was DH helping you? Ooops, I see that was a no. I hope you were careful where you laid that pretty lil head of yours, under dat stool. Pwoud Mary sayed there was yucky stuff under dere.

Kathy, I knew Junies 1 year was coming up, but just didn't want to think about it. I do not know the exact day, but that is just something I do mentally. I don't like to remember the day a person dies. But a party in her honor would be great. Junie will never be forgotten, I sure miss her. Could you repost the link for her online guest book, I would like to visit it again. I did not get an email. I wonder if her DH has. Speaking of, have you heard anything from him or her daughter? I never did. Safe travels for your folks, I'm actually glad they don't have to make that long trip back and forth any more, good grief, how did they do it, and at their age. God bless them!

DorK, I hope you don't have to get that tire iron out today. We could just send Tanya wif her bat.

Yes Katrinka, I habs a dwink foy us. Mema should like it too, has brandy in it. I had to check first, to see if NM was here, I no see her. NM, I hope you come by dis morning and dat you had a nice weekend. Let's see, 2 more to go?

For Dorky.....I found Passport to Hell Cocktail

Poor the ingredients so that the stroh remains the last, then light it up. take a teaspoon of brown sugar and hold it above the flame until it starts melting. when beginning to melt repeatedly introduce and take out the spoon from the glass for generating a huge flame. after the sugar melts take a straw and down the hatch with it

Not recommended for those with week hearts or for those who are afraid of fire.

Lori and Alli, Here is the link http://www.legacy.com/guestbook/kansascity/guestbook.aspx?n=gloria-parks&pid=152867322&eid=lc_gbexpire&eid=lc_gbexpire . Be sure to read all 20 entries, so many from the loungettes!

Lori, I do remember dates that I lost loved ones. But I love it when the day comes that although I think about that date, on that day I end up forgetting about it. Like my DH passed on July 15, 20 yrs ago. Of course, I thought about it a lot beforehand, and then after. Then I had to think hard as to why I didn't think of it on that date....well that was the big luau/hula event we went to, so was kept occupied. I also tell my girls that if they don't think of their dad on that day, that is a GOOD thing, as he wouldn't want them to remember that, but rather to remember the good times and happy memories. But since this is the first yr since we lost Junie, I thought it might be nice to honor her memory. In the future, it prolly would be good to remember her birthday instead. Hey, thats a potent DOTD, thanks muchliest! I think most of us can use a starter like that, on dis MonKey Dey. My parents will still be making that long trip from Bama to HI, when they want to visit their friends, and their beach condo. I guess that will depend on how my mom does. I know my dad does not want to think they will not be going back. THANKS for all your concern! Also, thanks to Dorkie and Alli, for their concern too.

OK.....I see the Tenders have fixed a bar full of "Passport to Hell" dwinks for us....but hoping it transports us, in mind at least, to a nicer place...LOL. Thanks again for de dwinks, "innocent one". See how the most innocent of us all (*wink, wink*) gives us de dwink from hell!! Ya know I am jest kiddin wid ya!

    Glug, glug, glug....*hic*

Good morning, Loungettes! Had a rather quiet weekend, for a change. Seems we aren't accepting new referrals for a week or 2 while the new computer software is getting up and running on everyone's computer. I managed to use that to my advantage--working a little this week and getting most of Sunday off to drive to Boston. FYI--I will not be on the boards the beginning of next week as I don't have a laptop to take with me. One of the benes of the new job is a 15% discount on Dell products, so I may have to look into getting a laptop sometime soon.

Wahine--as of this am it looks likes the avatars are lining up correctly with the posters, but I've only looked at a few so far! I am so glad your folks have you to help them get everything accomplished for their move. So much to do and remember.

Beautiful Biker Babe Bernie--ah--thanks for the translation. I love hearing and learning new terminology! Sounds like Mr. Sod is a very versatile and useful old goat! Is tipping not done in Brittain? I'm sitting here thinking of all those servers who are making less than minimum wage and not getting any tips, but maybe servers are paid more there? Funny how things are done differently!

Mema--I do like the people I work with, and while I'm still a member of the staff I will do all I can to ensure patient's get good care. It won't hurt me to work a little extra. I did greatly enjoy taking all the work appointments off my calendar this morning, though!

Goldie--Where did you find that sweat shirt? I want one!

ORLA--so is ex BF completely xxxx'd out of your life now? Sounds like you don't need him. Scary movies are fun, I like them too. I have seen Cujo, but I've read the book, one of the better ones. Have you seen the Paranormal Activity movies? I saw the first on in the theater and was rather disappointed. I rented the others for a $1, and not sure they were worth that much. What did you think of them? Another advantage to those foobs of yours is that you will never drown, no matter how dwunkliest you are when you fall in the pool!

Mrs. Vino--Don't worry about your mind or your wits, we've got catchers on all the lounge doors so you can pick them up on your way out, if you ever have to leave, that is!

DorKable--do you ride in that thing or eat it????? It looks like an M&M with wheels!

Oh, rats, I missed a GREAT Sunday buffett! Mese NOT HAPPY bout that!

ORLA--I won't wish you good luck with the interview because I know you don't need luck! You will SHINE!!!!

Let me see, a request for a Monkey drink, a request for a spashall drink.

Tipping in the UK and Ireland is very limited and often (as it should be) an indication of the quality of service received.

For Cab drivers, simply round up the fare to the nearest pound.

In pubs, say "and one for yourself" to a barman that you think deserves a tip. He will either join you for a drink or will put the money aside for later, taking it either as cash or a drink during quiet periods.

In resturants, watch out for the 'Service charge'. If there is one on the bill, don't tip. If there isn't one on the bill, round up the bill and leave the change (ideally) in cash on the table.

You may want to tip porters don't know what the tip would be - but it wouldn't be a lot.

If you go on a tour coach, then a 'hat' may be passed around - just add some loose change to it. If a hat hasn't been passed around, you may want to give the guide a pound or so, but again it depends on how good they have been - if you haven't recieved good service, don't tip.

You do tip hairdressers and beauticians.

    Never tip in a B&B.

The number of bars in Boston that make serious cocktails is increasing despite the Great Recession (right, Lord Hobo and Trina’s Starlight Lounge?), which makes our livers quiver with excitement. But the truth remains that the vast majority of bars out there aren’t up on this classical mixology thing. That’s the case even for some of the establishments we love, as well as for places whose enticing cocktail menus belie their lack of bartending talent. Take Aquitaine in the South End. Nice-looking brasserie with an intimate little bar at the entrance. I was thrilled to see they had the Scofflaw — the Chartreuse version! — on their menu, so I ordered one. The bartender free-poured it (not something you want to do with a drink containing green Chartreuse), added a mere dash of lemon juice (one of the drink’s primary ingredients), and proceeded to … stir the mixture. Oh my. When you find yourself craving a cocktail in a mixologically challenged establishment, you need to have in the back of your mind a safety drink or two. You know, a simple mixture that even the most minimally stocked bar or dimmest bartender can make (or be instructed to make). This is an easy decision for a lot of people — hello, gin and tonic! Little chance for error there. But, inexplicably, I’ve never liked gin (or vodka) and tonic. Not even a little bit. So here’s what I order: Negroni. All bars have gin and sweet vermouth, and most have Campari, so this is an old reliable. Plus, ordering one immediately gives you an aura of mystery, because the Negroni is still considered exotic in most bars. I was once at Red Line in Harvard Square watching the cute, young things behind the stick crank out Oatmeal Cookie shots. I had to walk one of them through a Negroni, but she managed. I enjoyed my drink and bought another for the DJ. (MC Slim JB, I know you disagree with me on this one, but I have had surprisingly good luck getting a decent Negroni in all sorts of places.) Gimlet. I rediscovered these when I had to make one while studying for the BarSmarts class. A good London dry gin, a splash of Rose’s Lime, and a lime wedge — it’s a surpisingly kick-ass drink! And any flunkie can throw it together … on the rocks, anyway. Oh, and ordering one makes you feel like you’re in a Raymond Chandler novel. Lowball. I only like a splash of soda in my whiskey, so I order one of these instead of a highball. Before I could reliably find Maker’s Mark behind any bar, I’d order a “Jack Daniels on the rocks with a splash of soda and a twist.” Especially at hinterland weddings and those occasions when I find myself at a bar in Weirs Beach, NH, during Bike Week, this is my go-to drink. CC Manhattan. Yes, Canadian Club. Rocks (always safer than straight up). Twist or cherry depending on my mood or lack of will to specify. A pretty satisfying drink, and you can order it absolutely anywhere. I especially like asking for these in bars near touristy summer spots where everyone’s drinking Bahama Mamas. It’s kind of like wearing wingtips on the beach. I love to know what other people’s safety drinks are, so feel free to weigh in. Good afternoon, Loungettes! Very warm here, but I keep finding little chores to do and have accomplished a surprising amount today! Getting tired now, though, going to head out to the swing chair and refill Sadie's pool. Somehow, during the course of a day or so, she can replace almost all the water with dirt. Absolutely baffling. Funny, though!

This isn't Sadie, but I have seen Sadie do this!

Wahine--I'll remember to check out all those places when I'm ready to get a laptop, I like saving money!

Mema--I'm having a wonderful day so far, about to continue in leisure style!

BBBBernie--Thanks for the European tipping lesson! Rather different from here. Some restaurants add a service charge for larger groups, but often don't point that out, so they end up getting the 'service charge' and a tip!

ORLA--take your time and weight the pros and cons of the new job and current one. You'll make the right decision for you. Now lets go grab a pool floatie and a dwinky!!! Yes, I am sure, but you should be able to talk to someone in the benefits dept or HR dept of the new job to find out for sure. You could also ask the same people at your current job, but if you want to keep private that you interviewed that wouldn't be a good idea. The older movies are better, more anticipation and less blood guts and gore.

CynCyn--I don't know the exact location of the orientation yet, I expect to get that in the next few days. I know they have a shuttle that I can take into Boston proper. I hadn't thought about the business center, I'll definitely check that out. Gonna go into withdrawal if I stay off the boards too long!
