    Hello to everyone!

I have been quite busy so I haven't been on this thread for quite some time, although I think about many of you often.

Our major project this summer was working on the Golf 4 the Cure committee at LeRoy Country Club.  We had a great committee but it still took many hours of work to pull it together.  The one day event netted $6,000 for breast cancer, which is really good for a small community.   YEA!!!

Welcome to our newest lady.  I hope you find lots of support and comfort from our thread.  There are several awesome and knowledgeable ladies who hang out here!  :-)  We will help you through this journey!

Thank, Jackie, for holding the thread together with your quotes during these busy summer months.  Love you, gal!

Hi Redhead and Lakegirl!  I hope all is going well for both of you.

    Rita

Congrats on the Successful fundraiser RitaJean.   that's a lot for a small community all right.  Well Done!

Doing good. Been doing some therapy on my arm and its moving better.  I've lost a few pals this month to Cancer and its hard to not let the fear take over.  They were younger than me, so diagnosed earlier, but still you think WTF!!!!

Happy Friday ladies!  I have been bad about posting lately but read nearly everyday. Are you enjoying our cooler central IL weather? I love it-so much easier when I have my hot flashes  Nerdy I will be having a MRA-Hip arthrogram on Monday to determine the cause of the severe hip pain I have been having lately, so much that I am using a cane, between that and my gray curls, I am looking more and more like granny and I don't even have any grandbabies  Sad Not too worried about the results, whatever it shows I will deal with it, as long as this pain goes away. Kind of nervous about actual test, they will inject my hip joint-ouch and then probably put me into an uncomfortable position for the MRI. Oh well a pain pill and my friend Ativan before should help.

Welcome to you new gals! You have found a great group here, sorry you are in the position that brought you here, but you will find tons of good information and a place to vent about anything you need to. Everyone here is very supportive and understanding, as only people in our position can be.

Wishing everyone few SEs, no pain and a peaceful weekend!

Yay!  I've just passed my three year mark from when my tumor was completely removed.  I had an excisional biopsy due to it's location.

After lots of the typical odds and ends problems on AIs, all are under control except I'm getting UTIs and now a kidney infection.  I've never gotten these before.  Guess I have to chug cranberry juice.

Mimi, I will be thinking of you Monday ( in your pocket ) and hoping that your test procedure is not a real PAIN to you.  Is someone thinking arthritis here?  Anyone of course can have that, but we of the "lighter" as in grayish hair cadre', seem to have that mentioned easily and fairly soon.  Here's hoping all goes really well for you and that you have results that have a good fix.

We are likely going to have pour downs today.  Sort of  sad.  Our annual Balloon Fest is on and it seems un-likely that the weather is going to co-operate this year.  Opening night was last night and they could not set up and air the balloons for the glow as  their was a light rain falling.

Today I think a lot more is coming -- just not sure when, but sounds like even the 'vendors' may have to shut their tents and take cover.  So -- no balloons today or tonight and then last day of Fest is tomorrow.  If the storms are past, the balloons could come out, but as it is the last day -- not too much fun for those who mainly come for the balloons.

There are sponsors for the balloons so they won't be thrilled either.   Ah well, sometimes Mother Nature is in charge and this is one of those times it is really felt.  Hope at least we get a good wash down and cooler temps -- settled humidity.

    Blessings

Doxie -- big congratulations on your three years.  I hope you can get the UTI's issues resolved ( I love cranberries, but was never fond of the juice )  and then onward you go.  Generally no one expects this major bend in our road, but we don't break at the bend...we just keep moving forward.  Yea for you and  hopefully no more bends and only minor normal jogs on occasion.

    Blessings

I bought this gel pad for sleeping at night- you dont need to refrigerate it or anything. For me I just drape it on me when I start getting a hot flash, or lean against it while watching TV in bed...You can put it in fridge or freezer for awhile but it wears off- but it has some way of just being cold when you lay against it or press it- I dont get it but it sure works!

I also started using a chill cloth- wet it ,wring it, shake it and its cold for hours and hours. I use it at work now- just put it on my neck when I feel a flash coming on and it stops it pretty fast.

Doxie that's awesome. 3 years is a huge milestone. I know I started to think less about recurrence after the 3 year mark last year. Hope the cranberry juice works for you.

Today I had to put my beloved kitty "Little Bit" to sleep.  She came to my house as a tiny kitten that the children in then neighborhood found and brought to me, saying she had no home.  I already had a 20 year old Siamese, but 1 year later, Little Bit was an only kitty.  She was bout 15 years old.   She sure nursed me through some lousy times, including losing my mom and my cancer this year.  She was always one to lay on my chest, but after my surgery, she seemed to sense it and would get on the arm of couch and lean her head over my shoulder and purr, and then gingerly walk the edge of the couch to get in my lap.  Funny how God puts blessings right at our doorstep.

Redhead, I'm so sorry to hear of your sweet companion needing to go to the Rainbow Bridge today.  It is always hard to lose a trusted friend.  Yes, they do see us through thick and thin.....never complaining, always there -- asking little but to give us some respite and joy.  Even more so it seems when we have an especially difficult time in life.

They are never deceitful nor reveal even a hint of the secrets we may have shared with them over a long span of time.  Completely faithful, always unwavering and never asking  or needing much from us.  Perfect unions with the best of companions.

When they grow weary we do them the greatest service one could by helping then move on and transition to the Rainbow Bridge.  They are stoic about their pain and would never let us know , so while it hurts us so much , it is such an act of love to them --- to make sure their leave-taking is gentle as they go quietly to sleep so they can reach the Bridge without undo struggle or great pain.

We all heal in time, and somewhere along the way we will smile again at thoughts of time spent with a wonderful, understanding friend.  When you are able to do that, you will have helped Little Bit with her final transition and she will wait ( in the best of health once more ) for you --- as down the road, along the path, she will meet you in eternity again.  Nothing we truly love is ever taken from us.

    Blessings

    Jackie

Thanks you guys.  I just hope when its my time to pass, I can go as peacefully as she did. I've done this a few times, but the pain is just so raw.  I felt so yucky after my surgery and she would just perch by my shoulder and purr in my ear, even in the middle of the night.  Animals are just so much more sensitive than a lot of people.......

Redhead-so sorry to hear that you lost your kitty. Funny how our pets become such a part of our lives, especially when they have been around a long time. We have a 16 year old cat and 15 year old dog who are both really starting to show their ages, so it probably won't be that much longer for them either. Hopefully as the days pass, you will feel less pain and just remember how much fun it was to have her with you all that time.

Hi ladies...I haven't posted lately as it has been a little crazy around here getting ready for school and all the activities that go with it.  The girls have been so excited!!!  Thank goodness they love school!!!  They started last Tuesday , August 12. I honestly can't remember ever starting this early!!!

I am 4 out from last chemo!!!  Back when this all started, I couldn't imagine being this far. I saw PS today. Initially, they were going to take out my port when they did the exchange surgery. However, today he decided I am a walking cess pool of infection....said in his most kind voice....I have to consult with infectious disease MD's 1st, get port taken out, wait about 30 days, to be sure no chance we stirred up infection when they take out the port, then he will do the exchange to implant.  He also really did not like that I had a sinus infection and ear infection after every chemo infusion.

I haven't started the tamoxifen yet. Due to the increased risk of blood clot, that may have to wait until after surgery, which is tentatively scheduled for October 21!!!

Lakegirl,  I don't ever remember kids going back to school this early either.....Glad they are excited about it. I always couldn't wait either.  (then I got older, ha).

So sorry to hear about your PS's assessment. But, he is a stickler and he knows what he's doing, so you are in excellent hands.  This is all probably stemming from the post surgical infection and I am confident it will get knocked out.  I know you want this all over and done with, but looks like its time to just roll with flow....

Those Infectious disease doctors are pretty darn sharp.  Bet they get you fixed up soon. Saying a prayer for speedy elimination of the infection.

Lakegirl-it seems the summers are getting shorter for kids all the time. Guess all the snow days this winter had something to do with that.

Sorry you are having infection problems but it sounds like your PS is all over that which is a good thing. Here's to getting all cleared up quickly so you can move on!

Thanks for being in my pockets yesterday. The test was pretty painful-brought me to tears doing the injection-the radiologist felt really badly, but I told him not to worry I am a big wus! The MRI part was fine, I took an Ativan beforehand and just slept through that part. Did find out this morning no metstatic disease in hip to that's wonderful, but my hip is a wreck and I guess I will be having a replacement in the not too distant future  Sad I have heard that hips are much easier than knees which would be nice, I have had both knees replaced and that is definitely not a surgery for the faint of heart.

Hope everyone has a painfree, peaceful day!  You guys are the best   SillyHeart

Lakegirl, I wondered about you a time or two, but have to be honest  --  often if I don't write something down to "set it in place " somewhat, I soon start to lose track.  I'm sorry to hear you are having such issues ( all infections are the pits to me ) but hope those Dr.'s  you talked about will have you  fixed up and ready for challenges before you know it.

Mimi -- so good  to know what the hip pain is NOT, and I wonder if your hearing that big whoosh as breath is being let out.  You must have been swiveling your hips more than Elvis ever did to have worn one out already.  Here's hoping that you sail through getting it fixed when you are ready and that is really is easier than the knees.

    Blessings

Thanks Ladies!!!  I am really OK with getting the port out 1st...I honestly was a little concerned re: the whole infection thing doing it at the same time.   I agree...my PS has been GREAT!!!!  We joke whenever I go in that I am his PITA (pain in the A55)....Which, happens to be very true!  He says it in the most affectionate way!!!  LOL!!!

Time to get the little people off to bed!!!

Heat is upon us now.  It is going to be really hot and sticky today.  Not looking foward to it, but have lots of things to catch up with inside, thank goodness.

Hope if any of you have to be out it will be early.
