What we are talking about is learning how to live in the present moment, in the now. When you aren't distracted by your own negative thinking, when you don't allow yourself to get lost in moments that are gone or yet to come, you are left with this moment. This moment—now—truly is the only moment you have. It is beautiful and special. Life is simply a series of such moments to be experienced one right after another. If you attend to the moment you are in and stay connected to your soul and remain happy, you will find that your heart is filled with positive feelings.

I have never been bored an hour in my life. I get up every morning wondering what new strange glamorous thing is going to happen and it happens at fairly regular intervals. Lady Luck has been good to me and I fancy she has been good to everyone.Only some people are dour, and when she gives them the come-hither with her eyes, they look down or turn away and lift an eyebrow. But me, I give her a wink and away we go.
William Allen White0 -
It is only in our minds
that we are separate
from the rest of the world.
Gay Luce0 -
Living in a society that undervalues the spirit, we who embrace it are tempted to apologize for our interest. We must stop apologizing, for no subject is more important. It is, after all, love's retrieval. It the answer to global hatred. To invalidate the spiritual life is to shoot at a fireman who is putting out the fire.

When we're helping other people, we're nourishing our souls. Depression or unhappiness means we've got the wrong goal. We have forgotten that peace of mind is our only goal. By concentrating on helping another person, we renew contact with our soul and with God. We can feel peaceful again. . . . Peace of mind has nothing to do with the external world; it has only to do with our connection with God. Love really is the answer. We're here only to teach love. When we're doing that, our souls are singing and dancing.
Gerald Jampolsky0 -
There cannot be a sense of abundance or the experience of prosperity without appreciation. You cannot find beauty unless you appreciate beauty. You cannot find friendship unless you appreciate others. You cannot find love unless you appreciate loving and being loved. If you wish abundance, appreciate life. -William R. Miller

Carole, I will be sending a pm to you in a bit.
Sure is 'icky' out right now, but we were/are due to go into weather that is going to be quite unlikable for now and through the whole week-end. It has been rather nice ( almost balmy ) for a couple of days so when it starts seeming too nice this time of yr. it is almost always an indication of things we probably won't like. Well, I'll always have plenty of keep me busy inside so no issues for me. Do hope though that nothing happens till get out and get my kitties fed.
Guess it is just as well I didn't get to the car wash since I think -- rain, sleet, snow -- who knows but once we get something decent I'll think about spending on the car wash.
Hope you all have a good Saturday.

Gratefulness brings joy to my life. How could I feel joy in what I take for granted? So I stop taking for granted, and there is not end to the surprises I find. A grateful attitude is a creative one, because, in the final analysis, opportunity is the gift within the gift of every moment-- the opportunity to see and hear and smell and touch and taste with pleasure.
David Steindl-Rast0 -
Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.
- Mother Teresa -0 -
To be glad of life, because it gives you the chance to love and to
work and to play and to look up to the stars; to be satisfied with
your possessions, but not contented with yourself until you have
made the best of them; to despise nothing in the world except
falsehood and meanness, and to fear nothing except cowardice; to
be governed by your admirations rather than by your disgusts; to
covet nothing that is your neighbors' except their kindness of heart
and gentleness of manners; to think seldom of your enemies, often
of your friends and every day of Christ; and to spend as much time
as you can with body and spirit, in God's out-of-doors--these
are the little guideposts on the footpath of peace.
Henry van Dyke0 -
If everybody did just one thing. Just one thing. Not even a great thing. Not a world-changing thing, just one blessing, just one act of living kindness. The effect of each caring action, no matter how seemingly small, brings blessings into the lives of others. There may be no greater or more important thing that we can do at this instant.
Donald Altman0 -
Positive thinking is not the destination; it is the journey. An optimistic person will be constantly challenged – by external circumstances as well as inner fears and doubts. Always remember that these tests are like a ladder you must climb. As you move past each rung, your optimism strengthens and your confidence begins to flex newly found muscle that you might never have developed otherwise.
Montague Ewards0 -
The best way I have found to follow my true desires is to pay attention to my intuitive sense. We all have great wisdom within us, a part of us that knows exactly what we need at every moment. We are born with this intuitive sense, but most of us are quickly taught to distrust and ignore it. We have to relearn something that should come naturally. Fortunately, it's not too difficult; it just takes some practice.

Deep in the soul, below pain, below all the distraction of life, is a silence vast and grand--an infinite ocean of calm, which nothing can disturb; nature's own exceeding peace, which "passes understanding." That which we seek with passionate longing, here and there, upward and outward; we find at last within ourselves.

Are you balanced? Do you share your time, your energy, your life, as much with yourself as you do with those around you?. . . . Know your limits. You are one of the most important people you need to look after and love. Balance your time, your energy, your life with those around you. You'll be able to give more freely and joyfully as a result, and you'll be more open to the gifts of the universe. It's not wrong to give to others. But it's okay to say yes to ourselves, too. -Melody Beattie

We are all flowers in the Great Spirit's garden. We share a
common root, and the root is Mother Earth. The garden is
beautiful because it has different colors in it, and those colors
represent different traditions and cultural backgrounds.
Grandfather David Monongye (Hopi)0 -
Free will is not the liberty to do what one likes, but the power of doing whatever one sees ought to be done, even in the very face of otherwise overwhelming impulses. There lies freedom indeed. -George MacDonald

We can only be said to be truly alive in those moments
when our hearts are conscious of our treasures.
- Thornton Wilder0 -
If I could tell the world just one thing
it would be we're all okay,
and not to worry cause worry is wasteful
and useless in times like these.
I won't be made useless.
I won't be idle with despair,
I will gather myself around my faith.
Light does the darkness most fear.

Our prayer for others ought never to be: "God, give them the light Thou hast given me!" but: "God! Give to them all the light and truth they need for their highest development!" -Mohandas K. Gandhi

Strength is a capacity for endurance. One of the dividends of suffering is the universal discovery the we possess a strength within us we never knew we had. Navigating through a difficult episode not only shows us that inner strength is there but convinces us it will always be there to serve us in the future. Overcoming gives us an assurance of personal confidence and value that far exceeds what we thought we possessed before our struggles began.

Should you shield the canyons

never see the beauty of their carvings.
Elisabeth Kuebler-Ross0 -
You will not grow if you sit in a beautiful flower garden,
but you will grow if you are sick, in pain, experience losses,
and if you do not put your head in the sand, but take the pain
and learn to accept it, not as a curse or punishment,
but as a gift to you with a very, very specific purpose.
Elisabeth Kübler-Ross0 -
All men should strive to learn before they die,
what they are running from, and to, and why.
- James Thurber0 -
When you encounter difficulties and contradictions,
do not try to break them, but bend them with gentleness and time.
- Saint Francis de Sales0 -
When we are conscious of being part of a wider universe, we can begin to see that what we do matters.Every action we take has a consequence somewhere, whether good or bad.Everything that happens affects a part of the whole body of life.Having this knowledge of being part of something larger may motivate us to contribute to the greater good in whatever ways we can.
Sallirae Henderson0 -
Be soft and gentle. Be caring and kind. Be loving in an ordinary way, without any sense of wanting anything back. Life offers you the most precious gift. The gift of allowing you to be present and show love.

Above all do not lose your desire to walk. Every day I walk myself into a state of well being and walk away from every illness. I have walked myself into my best thoughts and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it. But by sitting still, and the more one sits still, the closer one comes to feeling ill. . . if one keeps on walking everything will be alright. -Søren Kierkegaard

When you make the decision to look at. . . your own life and the way you think about it, you do something courageous. You dare to be yourself. It may be terrifying to search inward, particularly when it's so easy to look over someone else's shoulder. After all, when you peer inside, it's hard to know if you've made the correct choice. What if the answers are wrong? What if you don't know enough? But even if someone else's answers are right, they may not be right for you. Making the distinction may not always be easy, but once you see the benefits, you'll develop more faith in what's inside your own heart. -Leslie Levine
