Julie-Welcome to our group. Praying for good results for you.

Wendy-I'm with you. I am still seeking 'that one thing' that's my passion. Is it possible that for some of us it may never be identified as such, maybe we are just meant to enjoy the journey in trying to find it? I just seem to get so down on myself. I'm sure it's the frame of mind that I'm in right now and as time goes on, and further away from bc, that things will be more positive. Ok, enough of that. It's a beautiful day today so let's enjoy it :)

Laura-July 19 is good for me.  By the way, thanks for the invite and be sure to let us all know what we can do/bring.

Blackjack-congrats on your casino wins-sounds like alot of fun!

Leesa-Have a great time this weekend.

    Everyone else-enjoy your day!

    Good Morning:

Lots of chatter today.  I cannot get to everyone, but here is what is fresh:

Laura:  Great to get to your house.  Just make a list of what we can bring.

Starved Rock:  If we can pull that off, I am up for it.  As I say I am  free in the summer.

Wendy:  I am a weenie too.  I could never get up and talk about my feelings about BC  The main reason is that my feelings change every five minutes Surprised

I might be able to talk about my felings when I am 80 years old, feel I have lived a good life and indeed survived the nasty thing!  I admire women (and men) wh gave lke that.

Kater:  I bet you are just wonderful with animals. I wish you could see my cat. She was adopted.  She is so fat that the vet is putting a guilt trip on me that she will get diabetes and/or heart disease.  I just love to feed her because she just so loves to eat.

Jackie, thanks for posting Julie (the first Julie).  I am glad chemo is over for her.  Give her my regards.

I have to  get outside.  Have the best day.

    Dear Julie in Chicago:

I live very close to Chicago, as do a number of women who come here.  Thie unknown and waiting  are the worse part and I am certain this weekend has been terrible for you and your family.  Once you get the news (and that news could be that everything is just fine) and get going, you will feel like a ton of bricks have been lifted.

I cannot give any advise, just know this is the hardest time.  Try to get outside today and go on a walk with the family.  It sounds too simple, but just MOVING is therapeutic , or at least it was for me.  Are you near the Lincoln Park  Zoo?  If so, take the kids to the Zoo just to show yourself you can act on, rather than react to your worries.  I will be totally thinkng about you tomorrow.  As Laura said in a post, you may not feel strong right now, but you already found a place (this thread) to get support to keep you strong.  Illinois Women are Strong.  Good luck, my dear!

Well Ladies, the attempts at sending sunshine my way hasn't worked. The last 3 days we had a "nice" Yell mix of rain, sleet, snow, and hail!!! Since I can't play outside I made up a brownie recipe.... I found some carmel that looks like chocolate chips, then I had to add some nuts and of course some extra dark chocolate chips.... I tried to bake out the calories but ....

Welcome Julie! We are all praying that your tests are all B9. But this is the best group of Ladies for support!(and fun! I hear the Inquirer is still trying to find out where they are having lunch this month, guess the need some new front page material LOL)

I guess I better get back to cleaning my house...

    Everyone have a great Sunday!

Julie, welcome to the group.  I am praying your tests results will be B9.

Laura, July at your house sounds like fun.  I have a busy month but hopefully I can make it.  I am looking forward to seeing you Mothers Day at the race.  I will email as the date gets closer with a meeting place and time.  Starved Rock sounds like fun.

Blackjack, congrats on the casino win.  I can also do lunch May 16 or May 23.

I just love all of you.  Whenever I have a feeling about something that I think is weird it is so refreshing to see your responses.  I know that I am not the only weird one....you are all weird.  Money mouth No seriously, it means the world to me to know that my feelings and thoughts are normal and shared by many.  Thank you!

    Hi nancy from barrington

I got your message about how to register the whole fam for the Mother' Day Walk.  I am excited that  Laura and her DH will be there.

The Edens is like a total mess.  I take it every day to get to school, but no longer as it just does not move regardless of the time of day.  The construction is not ending until August so take the dealys seriously or you will not start the walk.

Our bowling party for Paul was just a riot. We had so much fun.  We were awful bowlers, but our top scorer was 187.  Is that good, Rita?  More importantly we had fun.  Two cancer survivors at the party.  Life is good.

    Off topic

IL Lady...those steps at walgreens are okay, plastic with fleece cover? but they cost a FORTUNE if you order them from seeing them on tv!

they are for very light dogs, i got them for my cats... if you could just find someone handy with hammer and nails i bet you could make one yourself.

zap: they are right about fat cat, my radiation guy, wendy's too, said his friends cat is so fat they have to give it a shot every day or something equally terrible...you would do better to comb him instead of keep feeding him, or add veggies to all that food!! No kidding! I have a couple fatties, too, one got stuck on the high above beam, she was trying to go back between the wood stair railing...and could not...fearful situation... She got fat when I first put her in the dungeon or the kitten house, she really really likes to be around me....rather than the basement or so forth...I think that's when she first over ate (food is in feeder).

Laura, thanks for animal advocate idea....I cant stand to hear the bad stories so I wouldnt be good for that....I cant even read about animals being hurt....or watch the news on TV.... but keep me in mind if you know of any experts that help people help animals ....I just fear i wont have the energy to go through with it...i am just recovering from cold so i'm really down since i was feeling so badly,.....that always makes things 100 times worse it seems. Please tell your MOm thanks for me!!

On a brighter note, I learned how to graft an apple tree twig to another apple tree today. It's a little late, but worth a try. Of course relatives are forcing me to agree to kill 3 apple trees so they have a little more dirt to grow grain on. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

My grandma's apples were the best in the world, my Mom thinks they are called "dutchess" apples.

Morning All!  What a beautiful day yesterday.  But today I pay the piper...so I guess you all know what I will be doing later...

NancyLA....I have an idea for a bumper sticker for all of us...

    "WEIRD....IT'S THE NEW NORMAL"

New Julie...please let us know what you find out today and how we can help.

Leesa...I'm still gone most of the day so I feel bad about not getting together with the wigs so I thought I would bring them on Friday if that's OK.  We've done stranger things at Maggiano's.....

Kater...so you talk to Dr Bendre about fat cats and I give him wardrobe tips.  We must be really refreshing for him!!!!!

Laura...right now 7/19 is fine but I know we are going to Fl to vacay/visit DH's family but I just haven't bought the tickets and I know it will be July so?????

What date were you guys thinking of for Starved Rock?  We have a lot of stuff going on for June so I may not be able to take that trip.

Calypso....how many more zaps before you too are a "Rad Grad"?  You are certainly close!

Mich101...I thought about what you said and you may be right.  I just like everything and am interested it in it all.  Well...except sports.  I don't do sports ...don't watch them, don't do them.  I know I LOVE cooking...maybe I should take one of those one-day courses.  Only problem is that I HATE cleaning up the kitchen afterwards.  Sigh.......

Karin...how is the weather today?  Hoping for sunnier skies for you.

New neighbor update....we just can't figure it out!  Seems to be younger people (30ish) but always a different car in the driveway, different people.  And for the past 4 weeks....no  garbage cans have been put out for pick-up.  They have the front lawn all marked up for the utility co's, but not the back.  And yesterday they had gotten a new hose/cart thingy and were trying to put it together and yelling at each other in a different language...right outside our bedroom window, at 11pm.  They do wave once in a while.  Hmmmmmm.....

    OK...gotta scoot...have a wonderful day!

    Morning gals!

Gosh you've all been busy posting!  I've barely made it within ten feet of the computer this weekend.

Susan, so glad that your bowling party went well and yes, any 180's game is great!  I wish I would have known you were doing this sooner.  I have a friend who has the machine that puts embroidery pictures on clothing.  She could have decorated that shirt so dear hubby would never take it back.  We could have put his name in the front and a team name, maybe like Gutter Dusters on the back with some bowling pins.  Your Yaztee game looks like fun!  We'll give it a try the next time my family gets back!  Like I said, you are so imaginative.

Julie in Chicago...I'm sending good vibes your way today and hoping that you'll get benign results.  Please let us know what you find out.  We will all be thinking about you.  The ladies on this thread are awesome and they really care!

Jackie and Wendy....I have those stairs for my arthritic indoor cat.  It took quite awhile for him to use them.  I finally had to put treats on each step and then he caught on.  He's not a real rocket scientist so your dogs might catch on sooner, but I wouldn't trade him for anything!

Michele....I think all of us are searching for our passions.  I do think you'll find it!  It just took a real jolt for most of us to realize that it might be a good idea to start looking!  In the meantime, enjoy each day.  I think you'll find your passion when you least expect to find it!

Laura, July 19th sounds good to me.  I would love to see your home.

And let's really look at a June date for the Starved Rock excursion.  I also think that it would be fun to have a couples outing sometime so that the significant others could see why we spend so much time on the Internet.  Anyone who doesn't have a significant other could bring a friend or just come by themself because everyone would be mingling all day or evening anyway and there'd probably be some guys who would opt out!  Give it some thought.  Also, how many of you would be willing to travel to Bloomington for a cook-out some Saturday or Sunday this summer or early fall.  It's a two hour drive for most of you.

Well, I need to get moving.  I have a dentist appointment this morning.  I hope this is the last of the dental "corrections" from the chemo and that I have that behind me for awhile.  Then....that sun is out so I'm jumping in that Cubbies cart and moving down the lane to the golf course!

Hello to all of you!  Have a wonderful day!

Well, it's going to be another fantastic day here.  At least 76 degrees from the sound.  I'm ready to put the screen in the screen door.  Course, that will mean adjustments ( we can open the big door in early morn right now ) but the afternoons with all the fresh air will be great.

Rita....we would drive to Bloomington from here.  It's about two hours.

Laura.....though I couldn't come anyway ( too far ) I keep getting tickled every time some one talks about meeting July 19th.  That is my anniversary.  Denny and I will have been married 33 yrs. this yr.  Second time around for both of us....guess we needed a practice run.  So, altogether I have been married 43 years.  Was only single a week ( we knew each other a lot longer than that ) when  Denny and I married.  If we have a tiff I always say he didn't give me time to play the field.....maybe he's not the RIGHT one after all.

    Well see you all later.

Re: Starved Rock.  Let's pin down a date.  How about June 21st (summer solstice) or June 14 (Flag Day!  LOL!!)?

Rita, as our Duchess, you are the most important here- what's a good date for you???

More later- I also have to scoot.   Wendy, we'll have to talk more about y-me on Friday.

Good morning ladies.  Hopefully everyone had a terrific weekend?  Beautiful outside wasn't it? I enjoyed everyday of it.  Cooking outside and hanging out with some girlfriends and doing my favorite kareoke till 1:00am.  Had a great time. My son and I hung out Sunday evening cooking out and playing cards after a crap load of house work.

Well I am off to physical therapy followed by Look good feel great.  Can't wait for that.  Also today I will be taking my picture for the article for the newspaper with my decorated luminaria bag.  I don't know when it will be running.  But  of course I had to put a shout out on my bag to the Illinois girls.  The article is for advertising the Relay for Life thats going on June 13.  I am officially forming my own team now.

Well I better be going before my therapist be calling looking for me.  Just wanted to check in and say hello.

Have a blessed and wonderful week everyone.

Julie from chicago you are in my prayers.  Good luck at your dr. appt.

So, I went for the biopsy this morning....defnitely not a cyst. The doctor was fairly noncommital....results on Wednesday. Thanks for all of the positive thoughts today.....it helped. I am going to relax, do nothing, and catch up on reading since I can't go to work. I hope everyone has a wonderful day, and thank you.

    Good morning, ladies.

Yes, I read about you all the time to keep up on your progress, even though I haven't been posting. Just wanted to throw in that www.cafepress.com has lots of cute tshirt ideas. Last year I bought my daughters shirts that say "I wear pink for my Mom" that have the pink ribbon on them. Also the grandkids got ones that say, you guessed it, "I wear pink for my Grandma." My 8 year old all-boy grandson didn't even mind the pink lettering!

Hope to see you all at one of the summer gatherings.

While waiting for an additional mammogram after my biopsy (doesn't make much sense to me?), I looked at my papers that were laying out on the table. It said BIRAD 5. That doesn't sound good huh? I looked it up and I am worried.

Wendy, I like that........ "Weird, it's the new normal."  A friend of mine and I have a saying about ourselves......We are what it was...we are no longer what it is...you see when we were younger we thought we were pretty cool...Kiss

Blackjack,I sent back dates via the email.  Thanks for all your hard work coordinating all of this...

Julie, please try and not worry.  I know it is easier said then done.  When I was going through my diagnosis period, prayer really helped me.

As I search for my "it" I am going back to volunteer with the people at Little City in Palatine Il.  I would love to do something more with breast cancer....but at this time I too am a bc weanie....it just scares me....

I have lost track of the rest of the thread...so to everyone else. Have a Great Day and enjoy the BEAUTIFUL weather!!!  Spring is finally here.Laughing

I got the results back from my mole removal.  It is pre-cancerous but no cancer cells.  So that is good.  I will be having the nodule on my right chest wall removed on Friday.  So, hopefully I will be able to find the results about that the following week before we leave for Florida...

As far as Starved Rock, I can't make it either Saturday.   Laura's house I would be able to make any of those days in August as long as I know about 2 weeks ahead of time, so I can ask for that day off as I usually work during the week.

Hopefully, I will be able to make one of these get-togethers...

Hi girls...another winner of a day!

Julie....Birads 5 IS a scary thing but there are lots of women who had Birads 5 and it was B9...really.  Just hang on until you get the final results.  Like Sharon said, don't get on that worry train until you have to buy a ticket.  We've all been where you are right now, this second...and we know how scary it all is.  I won't tell you to just forget about it until the doctor calls... we didn't and you won't either.  But my advice is....stay off the internet.  It was the worst thing I did and I made myself physically ill.  Come here tho....we are all holding your hand thru this...wishing happy smiles and good news for you.

Blackjack...thanks for always doing the arranging.  Sure makes it simple for us.

Ginny......good news about that mole!  Whew!!!!!!  One more little bump in the road to get over the next week and then you can relax and enjoy the season.

NancyLa...took me a few times re-reading that saying of yours!!!  Chemobrain!!!  How did it feel today to NOT get nuked?  Nice, huh!

Sabrina...sounds like you had a fab weekend!  Please make sure and send us the link when you are starring in the newspaper.

Well...time to go do......NOTHING!!!!  I am pooped!  Bed sure is going to look good tonight.  Hope I last until at least dark!  I remember my Mom making me go to bed sometimes while it was still light out...and I hated that.  Now......7pm looks good these days!

    Lessons in Life
For over 7 years, Regina Brett was a columnist at The Beacon Journal in Akron , Ohio   During that time, she was diagnosed and successfully treated for breast cancer. Regina is now a columnist for The Plain Dealer in Cleveland , Ohio   Her column runs on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday.

Lessons in Life By Regina Brett

To celebrate growing older,  I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me.  It is the most requested column I've ever written.
My odometer rolls over to 50 this week,  so here's an update:

    1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
    2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
    3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
    4. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
    5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
    6. You don't have to win every argument.  Agree to disagree.
    7. Cry with someone.  It's more healing than crying alone.
    8. It's OK to get angry with God.  He can take it.
    9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
    10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
    11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
    12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
    13. Don't compare your life to others'.  You have no idea what their journey is all about.
    14. If a relationship has to be a secret,  you shouldn't be in it.
    15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye.  But don't worry; God never blinks.
    16. Life is too short for long pity parties. Get busy living, or get busy dying.
    17. You can get through anything if you stay put in today.
    18. A writer writes. If you want to be a writer, write.
    19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood.  But the second one is up to you and no one else.
    20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
    21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie.Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
    22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
    23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
    24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
    25. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
    26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: "In five years, will this matter?"
    27. Always choose life.
    28. Forgive everyone, everything.
    29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
    30. Time heals almost everything. Give time, time.
    31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
    32. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick.  Your friends will. Stay in touch.
    33. Believe in miracles.
    34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
    35. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
    36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
    37. Your children get only one childhood.  Make it memorable.
    38. Read the Psalms.  They cover every human emotion.
    39. Get outside every day.  Miracles are waiting everywhere.
    40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
    41. Don't audit life.
Show up and make the most of it now.
    42. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
    43. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
    44. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
    45. The best is yet to come.
    46. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
    47. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
    48. If you don't ask, you don't get.
    49. Yield.
    50. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift

Good morning!  I hope today is as pretty as yesterday was!  I managed to get alot done and still play a round of golf.  It was simply wonderful on the golf course!

Ginny...so glad to hear that the mole was fine.  I will be thinking about you on Friday and hoping for the best with the nodule. Please let us know the results as soon as you get them.

Jackie...loved the lessons on life!  How very true they are!  Also, thanks for you update on Julie the other day.  I've really been worried about her.  I didn't know she was posting on another thread regularly or I would have been checking it out, too.

Nancy from Quincy...any more news on Mazy?

Nancy from Barrington....Do you feel rather lost now that you don't have to show up every day for rads?

Mary Jane...glad to see a post from you.  I am going to drag you to one of these get-togethers this summer!

Connie...aren't you looking forward to this summer and all the neat things you can once again do?  I sure am!  All we have to do is think back to last year and everything seems so much more exciting!

Wendy...did you get that grill going last night?  I cooked out brats and tonight it's pork chops!  Everything tastes better on the grill!

Hi to Pat, Kater, both Micheles, Sharon, Sabrina, Julie, Laura, JanClare, Leesa, Suzanne, and anybody else I've forgotten.  I'm off to pick up the clutter around here and finish that study guide on the periodic table that all of you thought was so exciting!  LOL  Dave and I have joined a Tues. evening summer bowling league and tonight is the first night so I need to get a move on!

    Everyone have a good day!

    Morning'

I think we are due for a wet day today....sounds very stormy.

Well I know Spring is really here.  Fed ferals yesterday and sitting here at my computer and my head felt so itchy in one spot.  Well, I scratched and what fell out but a little tiny tick.

Guess it didn't know it was on my head with my lack of hair.

Don't know if I mentioned....but my head as of late has been somewhat itchy and it seems my hair is already starting to grow back.  Maybe I will have enough by the time it's time to go to California that I won't have to wear my wig unless I just want too.  That would sure be nice.

    Talk at ya later.

Susan, I sent you an email regarding you will be getting a free t-shirt from Y-Me.

I do love not having to go to rads.  Today, I have two doctors appointments today, my yearly gyne, and I am going to see lymphedema therapist. My doctor gave me the rx for a consultation, so I can learn how about it and how to prevent it. Then I will end the afternoon with a 75 minute massage.  Laughing

    Everyone have a Great Day!

Morning everybody...seems like the rain is going to get here a lot sooner than this afternoon....very cloudy here.  No grilling for us tonight I guess.

NancyLa...will be interested in hearing how that LE therapist appt goes.  I just have the rx for the sleeve/gauntlet for flying.  None of the docs (3) thought is was necessary to go to the therapist mostly due to the fact that my nodes were taken from the breast incision and my working out for 20+ years and my slimness.  But they did all agree on the sleeve.  But then they knew too that I had thoroughly researced Le and my rad doc taught me some simple exercises/massage techniques so maybe that's why too.

Rita...you are one very busy gal!  The brats sound so good and I was going to do turkey brats tonight but the weather will not cooperate, so tomorrow it is.

Jackie....I printed out the Life lessons to give to my husband.  I really think he needs to learn some of them.  Ticks already????  But then, your weather has been a whole lot warmer.

Well...we did find out why the new neighbors had their front lawn all marked up by Julie.  They put in a new tree on the front lawn, allnew bushes in the front and new bushes along the patio.  Looks wonderful.  But why they had to do this while arguing, by moonlight, at 2:30am is beyond me.  DH and I didn't get much sleep and my neighbors on the other side of this house were awakened at 1:30 am as they started on that side.  And it's another group of people.  We don't know what to make of the whole thing.  I guess it will just be a VERY interesting summer.

    Off to do something constructive.....

    Hi all -

I haven't checked in for a few - of course, you guys are chatty Cathys.  I have been enjoying this wonderful weather with my family.

Leesa - sooo sorry about the port.  I hope you can get that clot cleared up.  I like your list of things to look forward to.

Thanks for the life lessons, Jackie.  I think I will print this out and read it often.

Wendy - wow - all I can say is - Weird.  I guess you can look at it as a new adventure with these neighbors.  You shouldn't have a boring summer.

Welcome, Julie - sorry you have to be here.  You are in my thoughts.

Jackie - thanks for the update on the "other" Julie.  I was just thinking about her the other day.  I'm glad to hear she is done.  She was definitely worst case scenario and I felt so bad for her.

I had a follow up with the ps today.  I have to say, it is so nice to have that expander out, but I am disappointed in the results. I was so worried about a lift for symmetry in regards to their level, but I never thought they might be different sizes.   My new boob is noticeably smaller than the other.  My ps said that he gave me the best implant for projection as he could, but that the radiated skin is causing it to flatten like a pancake.  He wants me to massage it for a couple months to stretch the skin out and we may put in a large implant.  Do you notice any of this Mich101?

I'm going to be attempting to post again with a picture so I can finally tell you guys what Wendy did for me!  I've never posted a picture before,  so I may be back asking for help.

I know I missed many of you, but you are all in my thoughts!
