Oh....Kater....gee...you were actually maybe sleeping last night?  I see you posted at a "normal" time!  Missed you around here...and I had to reread your post...I thought the raw meat diet was YOURS, not your dogs!

Happy Sunday morning to all of you beautiful IL ladies.

I'm heading out to Arlington Park today with my sister (she's a thyroid cancer survivor, 13 years - whoohooo) - but I wanted to jump on here quickly & see what's happening.

Thanks for helping to calm my fears about rads.  Sounds like it's not so "cut & dry".

Ok, gotta run, just wanted to say hi to everyone - have a good day.

    Happy, happy Sunday morning,

A little dreary here ( where is my beautiful sun ) but may get a bit better.  Got lots to do this morning.  So pooped yesterday that I didn't shop or cook and will have to rush that through this a.m.  If lucky, I'll have a while to rest before the cook-out tonight.

I'm thinking Dreamsickle cake ( I could eat the whole thing myself ) and my Sour Cream Potato Salad.

Denny's family--sister Cheryl started the thing about doing everything at night.  My family tended toward earlier in the day and I still complain about this.  Especially now.....I can be so tired by early evening.  Still, I doubt anything will change---I'm basically a party of one.

Julie & Buster...sounds like you are headed for a fun day.  Sounds like your not waiting for 5 0'clock tonight either...can I come with you?  I may already be too late to take a ride in Wendy's car...but hey, I'll have some cake and potato salad.

Welll, best get going so I can get my cooking done.

    Yak at ya'll later.

    Jackie

    your all in my thoughts.

    Hi:

Well it was lovely for about an hour!  Looks very overcast.

Wendy, you are so correct.  That is very close to my house. Like Jackie, I am a short hitter when it comes to pm activities.  I am facing 90 report cards this week.  So I am taking a pass this time around.  I am a totally free woman one week from Tuesday and will go anywjere to see my BC friends after that.  For some reason I thought you were all meeting way west of me.  I shoukd have figured it out as Smerf is one town over and I know she goes to these events.

Woe is me.  I have a  tooth ache.  My dentist tried to get me into an endodontist but no luck due to the holidays.   It is quite bearable right now, but she is worried it is going to go into a  disaster zone as it is a nerve under a crown.  She gave me her cell phone (she is a doll) if I need heavy duty meds and a antibiotic to settle it until Tuesday when I can get into an appointment.   I can deal with all this as it is fixable.  Like so many of you, I wonder when this crap will let up.  It is just always something and I feel like I am becoming a burden on the system (family, friends, work).

    Oh well!

    Good evening gals!

We spent the day in Springfield with Dave's mom in the nursing home and then took his 5 year old grandson to Bob Evans for pancakes and sausage.  They make the pancakes so that they look like a face........a young boy's favorite!  It was so cool, drizzly and cloudy when we left that we didn't take the convertible.  We wished we had it on the way home!

Hey Wendy #1...I've heard WAM's hospital stories and you're going to love them!!!!!!

Susan...hope you get along O.K. with the tooth.  How right you are!  It seems that it's always something that we're fighting anymore.  So sorry that you won't be able to join us on Wednesday.  I'd love to see you again!

Hey Jackie........that dreamsickle cake sounds very enticing.  Does it taste like the old-fashioned dreamsickles on a stick?  Yum!  I should not even be thinking about it as I've gained back 5 of the pounds that I lost this winter.  I need to get walking again but I'm afraid my feet will begin to ache.  I guess the only way I'll know is if I take the plunge and get out there this next week.  I think it's past time to do something about it again.

Kater...always good to see you posting again!  You're going to be able to make it on Wednesday, aren't you???  I hope so!

Julie R...I love Arlington Park. (I assume you are talking about the horse racing track????) We used to go every so often to Quad Cities Downs in East Moline but then it closed down the live racing events and just had the races on TV's.  It wasn't the same!  And as for the rads......you'll do just fine.

Well, Dave is working on the finishing touches to the bathroom and I need to get in there and chase some of the dust away from around the sink.  It's a constant job, isn't it, Pat???  Hopefully ours will be done tomorrow.  Hmmmm.....how many months did it take?????  It really looks nice!

Everyone have a great Memorial Day!

Back from the war...ahem, I mean family party.  Poured a real storm out a while before we were to go.  Dryer by the time we left, but Alan only lives 2 blocks away....our old house is on Raccoon Lane.  Sorted hated to give up the address, but we needed the house that is here.  Craig Lane just doesn't have the same sensations to it.

We are due for more storms through the night I think.  I'm not looking forward to that.  Not good tomorrow either I don't think.  Tried to get a weather report, but everyone there was too noisy.  Hmmm....that Denny's family.

Well, Rita---yes, the Dreamsickle cake tastes just like the old ice cream on the stick...why I love it.  I have the cake done, but didn't have time to do the rest...I'll finish it tomorrow and Denny and I will just have to eat the awful thing ourselves.

Well, hope you all don't have too bad a night.  See ya all later.

Mornng all!  I guess you guys (heck, us too) are getting somewhat rained out, but at least it's warm.  Not so for tomorrow...a HIGH of 55?  Back to jeans and jackets!

Susan....sorry about the teeth!  Mine did just fine all except for one receding gum on one bottom front tooth...she's just watching it.  She was actually surprised that my teeth held up as she says most chemo patients are not that lucky...we place it all on the sonicare toothbrush and my extremely vigilant flossing.  Had to have those deep cleanings about 5 years ago and I swore...NEVER again!

Pat....it was your DH who had the back surgery, correct?  I woke up in the recovery room last August with the doc saying he was going to hook up a pain pump with dilaudid and I said "for what?".  Never had any more pain after the hern. disc removed.  Unitl 4 weeks ago.  It gets a bit worse every day even tho I have gone back to my exercises...this time not really nerve pain, but more like a perm. muscle cramp in my L butt, back of L thigh, L calf...even my foot!  Did anything like this happen with your husband?  I didn't do PT after surgery as I had no pain...now I am thinking I will have to do this.  I'm calling the neuro tomorrow to see what's next for me.  Talk about "it's always something!" and why now when it's nice out!  Oh well...could be worse and don't we all know it!

OK...nuf about my aches and pains...

WendytheYOunger...no fair...you told Rita all your stories!  Hurry up and get better...I have a feeling they are great stories.

Rita....I did take the Z out but by the time I got home...dark clouds and very windy so that was that.  Plus...getting into and out of the car is a bit difficult with the back these days.  But sounds like the pancakes were good!

Jackie...I think I need that recipe for the dreamsickle cake and for the sour cream potato salad.  And I hear that if you eat the cake in the dark in the middle of the night...there are no calories.

Everybody I haven't mentioned by name....I think about your guys as well and hope everyone had a wonderful day.  Still a bit cloudy here but in the 60's already and just a 30% of a stray shower this afternoon.

    Tops down, fists up!

    Good soggy morningTongue out

I'm sorta smiling because what else can you do?  We should get a break ( so they say ) later on and then I'll run out and do the feral cats who missed yesterday as the rain came at their feeding time...and since I had to do the family thing I was not able to go when there was a break.

We indeed did have major downpours through the night and lots of thunder and lightning.

In fact, B. Boss woke me up this a.m.  I had a bathroom break around 5:30 a.m. and got into a heavy doze ( could that be more like light sleep ) and about an hour and a half later awoke to this huge crack of thunder and B.Boss started barking wildly.  Guess it woke him too.  Except for the small break we will get this through the day I guess.

Hope all is calm by Wednesday---hate going for anything to Marion/Carbondale when the weather is not good.  My day to go to Barb's tomorrow.

I have a friend over on Raccoon Lane---we invite them to all our family get-togethers....and he said he would take me to my treatments if Denny was not available....meaning on Monday mornings.....and then onto the motel.  Hmmm, we will see.  Just can't make any plans till I know how it's going to be.  Starting to think maybe it will go faster than I think.

We are all waiting with baited breath to hear the hospital stories

    WTY.

I will get my recipe cards out later and write down those recipes for you.  I may even throw in my Butterfinger cake for good measure.  That's another one I love.  For me it's all about the easy stuff.

Even though Denny and I plan to get back on South Beach, these are all recipes I would make now and then.  I can't do any ( diet ) till I get done with the rads, but I will on occasion ( especially if it's a family get together ) make some sinful concoction because there will be plenty of help to make sure leftovers are minimal if at all.  I also do a version of Baked Beans with Dr. Pepper.  Ok, nuf' about the food, huh !!!

I hope you all have a nice Memorial Day....and that most if not all get to stay dry.

Wendy, I think you have the answer for the font thingy maybe.  After a couple more daily quotes maybe I'll be sure.  I had to go back on the Internet and get the formula....for clipboard, highlight, then press control and c.....to then paste, control and v.

Here's hoping because I hate for those fonts things to come up.

Hope Jule, Julie R, Brenda and all the new ladies are having a nice day today.

Sparker, Calypso, Nicki, Mom of four, Karin, and all the rest of you beautiful ladies I haven't called by name here's to you.  May your day be wonderful too.

    Love,  Jackie

Hey Michele!  I love the way we think alike!  Walking in Vegas would be so much more fun than walking out here in the country!  :-)  Laura...I think we're telling you that you have a great idea with your Vegas trip!  LOL

Wendy the Younger...how are you doing?  Check back in and let us know.  I don't want to make a pest of myself by showing up on your doorstep every day, but you know how to get hold of me if you need something!

Brenda...COME BACK!  Gee!  We didn't mean to scare you away!  In fact, I was really excited that somebody from the surrounding area found this site!  Check back in and let us know how it's going for you!

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday.  We're using the day to finish up some projects around here so that we'e ready to kick off the summer fun when this rain moves out of the area.  In defense of the rain, my flowers have really perked up, so it's not all bad.

Be sure to take time from your day to remember all the men and women who gave their lives for this wonderful country and for all our loved ones who have passed on.

I better get busy.  I'll be back later!

    Jule:

Now I have you straight with the Addy list Laura sent.  Laura, that is so great you send those updates.  Jule, you are only nine years younger than my eldest daughter.  How old are your kids?  My other daughter lives in Lakeview.  Are you near there?  Good for you for being able to feel good about work.  It does feel better when we can keep our routine, although that is just not possible all the time.  Will your kids have activities over summer?   I am just thinking you may need your rest. I hope you have family near. Also glad you have a wig place.  Mine was in Skokie and perhaps too far from you.  I live in Northbrook, so not that far.  I am glad I got you straight. Stay well!

    Good Morning allLaughing

Everyone must be sleeping in and recovering from all the fun yesterday.  Our afternoon turned out to be fine with sun part of the time.

I will be at Barbara's today and in fact, end up with another very full day.

Off to Carbondale tomorrow to see how it will go with the radiation schedule.  Got my fingers crossed.

Have had some swelling in my left foot...not sure what is going on there.  I thought I'd be pretty much through with all the se's by now, but maybe not.  A pain....I only have one pair of shoes that feel ok right now....sure cuts down on what you can wear.

I'll be checking in much later.

    See you then.

86 yesterday on my deck....42 this morning?????  Yuck.

Jackie...my ONE ankle swelled after my 2nd to last taxotere.  It's not uncommon to have swelling after chemo with the taxanes.  I was told that is almost always goes away within 4-6 weeks.  So maybe keep an eye on it for now and when you next see ANY doc/nurse, have them take a peek at it.

I may be a no-show for dinner tomorrow.  My sciatic nerve is extremely irritated and since I had the back surgery I am assuming that I did this myself (maybe) with bagging the grass...you know, lifting the full bag out and up from the mower using only my R arm.  I have called the neurosurgeon and am waiting for a call-back to see what I get to do next.  Oh goody!  And here I was so happy that I did not have to see any doctors until September!  Should have kept my dang mouth shut.  Anywhoooooo....pain gets a bit worse every day so I have no idea how I will feel tomorrow, and driving is of course out if I have to take vicodin like I did all weekend.  So...if I am not there by 6, I will not be there!

WendytheYounger....how are you doing?  How's the tissue looking? Is it just bruising, like the PS thought?

    Blackjack...home?  Have fun?

Oops...had to answer the phone...Have to have another MRI of my back to r/o anything to do with bc...great!  I guess I get to worry about that now...hopefully it is just (just????) another herniated disc or something....

Gotta run..need to fax ins. cards to get pre-cert for the test...talk later!

Gosh darn it, Wendy! I do so hope that you can join us tomorrow! Would any of the gals be coming near your place to get to Maggios?  If so, maybe they could pick you up and bring you with them to avoid the driving.  As for the worry....wipe that right out of your pretty little head.  You've been feeling good and just "overdid" with the lifting, etc.  The MRI is just what they said...a precautionary test to RULE OUT anything that's bc related.  HUGS to you.

Jackie..I'll be thinking about you tomorrow as you head for Carbondale for your rad appointment.  Still wish there was some way that you could avoid traveling that far for the rads.  Hang in there!

I'm bringing pictures of Wendy the Younger with me tomorrow...one before her haircut and one after the surgery with her shorter "do" which isn't even styled.  Can't wait to reconnect with all of you and to meet those I haven't met.  Wendy sees the plastic surgeon this afternoon so we should have answers to the tissue issue and she's hoping that they take out the drains.

As for me, I'm trying to decide what to bring to wear tomorrow.  I packed all my winter things away!  LOL

Karin..I think we were posting at the same time yesterday.  Thanks for the Memorial Day graphics!  Guess what it's doing here?  RAINING...and I thought I'd sent all that your way!  LOL

Well, I need to write some questions and decide on the clothes issue.  Hey, maybe I'll just have to buy something new to wear!  Now that would be a real pity if I had to do that!  :-)

The bathroom is finished and I LIKE IT!  I'm shopping for the accessories now...soap dish, toothbrush holder, etc.  How is yours coming along, Pat?

I will probably check back in later tonight but probably won't be up and moving early enough to do so in the morning.  See you gals tomorrow night around 6:00.

Good morning everyone...  I haven't been on since Sunday a.m. & had lots of catch-up reading to do Laughing

I had my molar pulled this morning - ah, such fun.  Should hear from my MD today re: the MRI results, please cross your fingers.

Jackie -   I hope your foot is okay & feeling better!!  Sending good tootsie vibes your way.

Zap/Susan - I feel your pain with the dental stuff.  It downright stinks!!  Best of luck to you  - I hope you can get that taken care of & get out of pain asap.  Like there isn't enough to deal with, right?  Sigh.

Rita Jean - yes, I went to Arlington Park racecourse on Sunday.  It turned out to be a very nice afternoon (didn't win any money though!)  P.S. - I am now craving pancakes, since you mentioned them. yuuuummmmmyyyy.

Wendyk13 - Sorry to hear about the sciatic pain.  Not fun.  Good luck with the MRI.   Have you tried a Napropath at all ?  My sister & I both had some great help from one for sciatica.  It's very gentle (I don't let mine "manipulate" me at all).  Sorry if I'm missing a big chunk of the story though, since I'm pretty new.  Nonetheless, I just hope you are feeling better!!

To everyone else, want to at least say HI :)  I am hoping to make it to Maggiano's tomorrow evening, I will try my best.

Take care everyone!!  Cheers, hugs - JulieR

Afternoon Ladies! Hope all had a nice RELAXING weekend!

Wendy you've got to stop trying to do everything!! I know it's hard to "let stuff be" it will still be there tomorrow!      I'm thinking your neighbors taught mine when to do yard work..... It was after bedtime (10PM) we heard some noise outside, she was in the van in the middle of the street (headlights pointing @ their house) she's telling him where to put the plants!! ...And not very quietly!!

Nancyla Did I miss something? Haven't noticed you here since the Mother's Day walk...Hope you're not sick!! Know it was wet & cold!

Calypso Are you all done w/ rads now?

Blackjack Having fun in LV I hope!!!

Did I scare off nanc512, bren51 and Irina? Maybe I should stop joking about the National Enquirer wanting to come to the "lunches"!!! LOL

    Better get back to work

    Everyone have a nice day!!!

    Hi everyone,

Just got done with another of those super pour downs.....we are so wet everywhere.  Lots of chances for flooding in our county and the surrounding ones.  Hope it doesen't happen but probably will.

Well, did Barb's today and was I a klutz.  Both of my feet are swollen now, but when I called the V.A. they just said to keep them up and watch...let them know if they got worse or it didnt' resolve.

Guess I'll have to be patient---not one of my biggest virtues, but I'll have to work on it.

Bad weather should be well out of here by tomorrow so no problem going to Carbondale....just chilly.  I know it's still Spring, but like
Wendy---the hot/cold, hot/cold is starting to get to me.

Well, I'm going to go dump myself into my recliner and rest for a bit.  Talk to ya'll after while.

I feel a bit like this poor little guy...trying to coordinate between people to get my MRI pre-cert'd, then the order faxed and then Delnor to bring it up in their computers...so I can schedule the dang thing...only to be told...at 4:30pm...that their next appt was 10 on Thursday...10PM that is!  So I took it....DH said he would go with me.  And I was told not to wear any eyemakeup as this could and has caused permanent eye damage.  Well, that is a new one since last July when I had my last MRI!

JulieR...hey..don't worry!  Be sure and come tomorrow...I will gladly bore you to tears over my "little" back surgery from last August!  Oh goodie...someone new to bore!  Did you get any results yet?  How's the pain from the extraction?  Hope you can come tomorrow....

Smerf...thank you so much for picking up the phone and talking me down.  Duh.  I should have thought of that...if you sleep thru the night pain-free, it's probably not bone mets.  But you know us cancer-people...we go to the scary, dark place FIRST, not last!

Mich101...shame on you for sending me that e-mail...still trying to figure out how that works.

Kater...you are so sweet to offer to drive me but I think I will be OK to come..that way too if sitting too long starts to bug me I can leave early.

Rita...wooohooo!  Bathroom's done!!!!  Yay!!!!!  Need pictures!

WendytheYounger...how did the appt go today?

Karin...omg...our neighbors MUST be related!  Beautiful day here yesterday as it turns out and DH and I relaxed on the deck, reading, for most of it.  Neighbors home all day but did not come out to weed and water plants until around 9:30pm. I give up...they're vampires.  And don't yell too loud...but in a little while I am going out to cut the grass...but I do promise not to bag it.  Mulching is good, correct?  No more lifting one-armed for me...too much strain on that L back.

Jackie...sorry about your swelling.  It will most probably resolve on its own.  But, I know...another thing.  Always "another thing" isn't it!

Everybody else...have a good night...and hope the rain lets up for you guys down south...you sure don't need any flooding.

    Hugs!

    Hi to all,

Even the computer is hard to reach with all the plastic protecting everything, and I can't get to most of my clothes. Oh well, it'll be worth it, I think. This is my last remodeling project, and you're hearing it here first! Call the men in white coats if I ever talk about doing another project, please.

Wendy....You need to keep spme garlic close at hand for those vamps. Hoping your back feels better real soon, and your MRI is uneventful. No eye makeup? That's a new one!

Jackie...I'm so sorry about the swelling. It is always something, it seems.

Rita...I can't wait to see pics of your new bath. I'm so glad you are able to come, and bring Maryjane too!

I guess my time is up, as the cleanup is starting so that the guys can leave for the day. Hello to everyone, and I'm thinking of you all. Hoping to see many tomorrow night.

    Pat

By the way, I planted flowers wearing a fleece jacket and earmuffs today! The high was 45, and now I hear on the news there could be a frost in WI and MI tonight. Too weird.

Dearest Wendy, I cannot believe you are having an MRI at 10:00 pm.  I would fall alseep and spend the night in it...then again I would as I need the tranquilizer just to get into one!  You know disk pain (nerve pain) between bone pain.  It is still so disconcerting to have to once again go into a hospital to take another test and then to wait for another result.

Today was "Field Day" at my school.  It is like Olympics.  I was freezing, as we all were.  We have no "rain dates" so we had to go ahead.  I just got such a chill, yet I lasted!  Smerf, I am still wearing my fleece parka and I have been out of that wind for four hours!  Yesterday was great, wasn't it?  It literally dropped 35 degrees overnight.

Well, I will check in later.
