Good Morning Quick post as I'm late getting ready for work. Julie M...good to hear from you and glad you did ok on 1st. chemo. You got up every couple of hours because you were probably full of I.V. fluids plus what you drank.....they push, push, push the fluids to push out as much of the chemo as will come out. So, the first few days you may be getting up extra at night.
Julie M.....would be great if you can make it to Maggiano's....you will have a super time and meet your new bc family early on. How special....
Love to all the rest and talk to you later. Got to run.
Jackie
p.s. Julie R...maybe you can make it too. Can't remember if you were doing something or not.

Good morning everyone!
First of all, I just called the hospital and talked with Wendy's hubby. They did not take Wendy back into surgery this morning. The tissue looks the same as yesterday, which also indicates that it is probably just bruising. If it continues to look the same, she will be coming home later this afternoon. Let's hope that is the case.
Wendy #1....I know absolutely nothing about this donor tissue or this reconstructive procedure. If I understood Wendy the Younger correctly, the put in the expanders after her mastectomy but did not put anything in them. They also did this tissue donor procedure before closing it all up. I probably meant expanders when I said implants earlier. Does this make any sense to you or am I completely out of the loop? Hey...so glad that you've got a FL trip planned. Those exciting extras are what keep us perky! You will have so much fun and we all need occasional get-aways!
Jackie, I love you dearly but you mistakenly sent your rain from yesterday our way! LOL It is messing up my Friday golf. (of course I have plenty to do around here that is much more productive!!!) Are you enjoying the reprieve between the chemo and the rads? I am so sorry that you're going to have be away from home during the rads. That old saying, "There's no place like home" is certainly true. Still, you're on the last lap of this journey and nothing can stop you now!
Smerf...Gosh, I didn't get the advantage of "sleeping double in a single bed" during my bathroom remodeling project. Now I'm sure that I'm hiring out all future work! LOL Why do I always learn about these extra fringe benefits when it's too late? LOL I'm really looking forward to seeing you again on the 28th. In fact, I'm anxious to see EVERYBODY again and to meet the new girls.
Julie M....YEAHHHHH! Chemo #1 is done! Continue to drink lots of water to flush all the chemicals through your system. Mark this one off on your calendar!
Julie R...Welcome to the Illinois site. You have come to the right place. The women on this thread are awesome and will help you through everything. I'm sending good vibes your way for a clean MRI. The waiting and the unknown are the worst parts about this trip. As for your emotions. Everyone is afraid....some at first, some during the treatments, and some after the treatments are all finished. It is only natural to feel fear, shock, and anger. Things can seem pretty overwhelming at times, but this is doable. Please post often! I do hope that you join us on the 28th at Maggios. We'd all love to meet you.
To the new girls...WAM, Julie R, Brenda, and ANYBODY else who hasn't done so......if you send a PM to LauraGTO, she will add you to our address and personal info sheet. We do not post personal info on the site, but she has compiled all our personal info and then emailed it to all of us. If you decide to give her your personal info, she will it add it to ours and send you a copy, too. You need to provide you name, address, home phone, cell phone (if desired), email address, birthday, and diagnosis date. If you wish to add details about your tumor or treatment, you can add that, too. This way we can contact each other when necessary, send cards of congrats and encouragement, and keep track of those who wander away for awhile. It is completely optional but we'd love to have you join us.
Blackjack...So glad that Mom is home. Take care of that cold/lung problems and definitely have fun in Vegas. Thanks for setting up the arrangements for the 28th. I will see you then.
Gosh Connie....I am a real wimp. I whined and whined over my dental problems but they're nothing compared to what you're looking at! Hang in there. I'm sure you'll make the right decision for you.
Michele....I'm so glad you're joining us on the 28th. Can't wait to see you again!
Joanna...are you going to be able to join us, too? Maybe you and Kater could come together again.
Sharon, hope you're enjoying your visit "home."
Well, I think I should capitalize on the rainy conditions and get to work around here. :-(
Catch you all later.
Rita

Ok...so it's 6pm on Wednesday? I thought for some reason it was 6:15.
Julie R....trust me, you'll find us! Just ask the hostess where the "nuts" are! We usually hang by the front desk for a bit anyway as Maggiano's does not like to seat you until all of your party has arrived. We all pretty much just walked into some restaurant and asked "Are you the breast cancer ladies?", or re recognized eachh other from our avatar. Please do try and come! TAke a couple of advil and you can sip cosmos thru a straw! We would LOVE to have you come! And hoping that your tests turn out okey-dokey...AND that you don't have to wait until Tuesday!
Rita...I thought that WendytheYounger was just having a first mastectomy last Wed? Did she have prior surgery? Is this a reoccurance? Somehow I dropped the ball on her dx and past tx. Oh well....chemobrain. Give her a hug for us, ok?
Gotta run....lots to do today. No top down today, but fists up anyway!

Julie...We'll be looking for you at Maggiano's. They know us, so if we are seated we can ask the desk to point you in our direction. They are beyond good to us there, and they know we are the bc ladies.
I've been having aol problems again, and not able to post. Hope this goes through this time.
Hey Wendy, maybe better to be the older Wendy than just the oldest one period. Though I do have, I think, Jackie and Karin to keep me company. Too many cosmos and you could be Wendy the Woozy! Kidding, I know you'd never do that!
I'm gonna stop and see if I can get this through.....

Wendy...guess I'm not making myself clear here. She did have her first surgery, mastectomy, on this past Wednesday. The way I understand it, they put in the expander and did the donor tissue at the same time. Then yesterday the donor tissue began getting blue and they thought at first that they were going to have to go back in for a second surgery this morning. However, the ps said he thought it was bruising instead of dead breast tissue and they didn't do the surgery for it this morning (as far as I know right now). Do they ususally NOT do the expander and tissue donor right when the mastectomy is performed?
Still raining here...........yuck.

Dear Ladies:
I am very frankly so confused about who is who and what is what. So if I get anything wrong, forgive me.
Rita, thanks for the update on Wendy the Younger (got that one right). Thanks to Wendy the Elder's questions, I finally have the younger straight. IT sounds kinda tough and I hope her spirits are up. As someone mentioned, she is lucky to have someone like you.
Connie, I have to what the periodontist calls "deep cleanings" and he also said I got into his office just in the nick of time. Be sure you understand you insurance as I nearly got burned. The "deep cleanings" require Novocaine, so I suspect that means they are aggressive.
Julies.....welcome. Soon I will get to know you better. I am not sure who needed a wig, but I got my wig at a place in Skokie. They served me well. They are not cheap, but I was willing to pay the money on a good wig as my morale was about zip at the time and so I needed a quality wig.
Have fun at Maggianos! Pretty soon school will be over and I can travel to see you all. Blackjack, you certainly keep a steady schedule even when under the weather. I hope you are feeling okay.
Smerf, I hope you are happy with the end results of all that new construction. I am just trying for a new look in window treatments. My daughter pointed out that ALL of our window treatments are dated (puffy valences) and I took a look around and she is right. That is my summer project (not making them, just figuring what the style is right now).
Have a wonderful weekend.
Susan

Heading out the door for a long weekend at the lake. Have a great weekend everyone! Looking forward to seeing everyone on Wed.
Julie R - when you get to Maggiano's just look for a gal with tight curly short hair - that would be me with my chemo curls.
Wigs - I got mine at a place called Naturally Yours in Willowbrook. They were so nice and accomodating.

My afternoon input:
It is starting to be confusing isn't it Susan. While trying to talk to our Julies---M & R I had to keep going back to the posts up above. Maybe we can use Jule and Julie.
Of course, my mind being as is I will have to go back and re-acquaint myself of both anyhow.
I keep wondering if this is the somewhat dreaded chemo brain I've heard about or is it still the normal me....not a good thought either way. I'm afraid your all stuck with me, but I have to admit ----- I'm not the brightest cookie in the jar. My consolation...for someone to be first, second and third etc. someone has to be willing to be much farther down.....hmmm, guess that would be me. So now I'm the oldest and a crumbled cookie....but there again, I'm where I'm susposed to be in life so I can't complain. I know not a one of you would haul out a judgment like that or compare anyone to anyone else....I just don't mind poking fun at myself.
Connie, hope you have a great week-end.....and hope the Maggiano's group expands---what fun for everyone.
Hope Wendy the Younger might be on her way home as I type this with merely a bruise and nothing else of import to have to concern herself over. That will give Rita a little lift to and she can stop fretting.
All you new gals who are so welcome....Rita started this thread which I think rapidly became the "Place to Be" for so many of the Illinois gals with BC. The 'motto' here is " Illinois Gals Are Tough " and if you ever have time or want too, go back and read some of the earlier posts. We really are tough and very un-willing to give in to something like bc which we can defeat.
Hoping the rest of your Friday is wonderful.
Jackie

Hi again everyone - I wasn't planning on getting back online but I just can't help myself now that I have found you guys!
I really want to come to Maggianos - so as long as the pain is tolerable, I am there.
Rita - I sent my info to Laura GTO per your instructions.
Wendy - I am glad you mentioned cosmos, heehee.
Thanks again everyone! Can't wait to meet you guys - I'm going to do my best to make it, okay?
Cheers, JulieR

OH GIRLZ...WHERE DO I BEGIN!?!? Gawd...my life is a whirlwind! First and foremost...I hope you are all hanging in there! We are all at various stages with this beast...to the new: STAY FOCUSED...KEEP INFORMED. To the oldies but goodies: don't sweat the small stuff...to the in-be-tweeners: YOU CAN DO IT!
Jackie - you're starting rads soon...you will get through it...be patient. It will be a lot easier than chemo. Doesn't affect your mouth at all!
-----------------------------------
I went for my f/u foot visit on Wednesday...amazing...I wore that frickin' boot for 9 weeks! But hallelujuah (sp) I am OUT OF BOOT CAMP! That's the good news...the bad news is that I have to have PT. From having to wear the boot for so long, I threw my hip out. AND...my knees have taken a serious hit as well. MAN...it's ALWAYS something. My Dr said that bunion surgery is NOT the answer...I need the PT and need to have a special orthotic arch made for inside my shoes. CRIPE...Am I really 80 and not 48 and someone forgot to tell me my real birthdate!?!? But...all in all, can I really complain? My 4 month Onc visit is next week...wish me luck.
-----------------------------------
I am really looking forward to seeing you girls next week! I can't wait!
----------------------------------
JulieR - TOO FUNNY: YES: just ask for the table of AWESOME women...they all know us there! I hope you can join us!
----------------------------------
Girlz - LOVE YA ALL..

LauraGTO - I wanted to wish you luck on your onc visit next week!!

Julie R - Is Buster a Chihuahua (sp?)? He looks cute!
Laura-Good luck with your onc visit next week. Sorry to hear about your hip and knee problems. You fix one thing and another breaks-yikes!!
Can't wait to see everyone Wednesday--

Hi ladies. One down and 5 to go....I need to keep the countdown going! Thanks for the advice about the wigs. I did hear about the place on Milwaukee and the Willowbrook place. So I will try one of these. I think I need one for my kids to start until they get used to it. I was shaky yesterday and fuzzy in my head...that would be the chemo brain thing? I did go to work which I felt good about it. I also did the hair cut thing which was not my favorite...haven't had short hair in over 20 years.
I would love to meet you all in person especially to straighten out all of the names with who is who, but that is also the last week for my kids school and I think the last days are Wed and Thursday so we have a couple of things to get together. Maybe the next one? Keep me posted.
You can call me Jule if that would make it easier keeping people straight. The only ones that did were my family when I was younger. Just let me know....so I know what to answer to
Here's hoping for great weather this weekend in IL. I am so tired of the cold in Chicago...I think we might make the 70s and 80s this weekend. I want to do some planting with gloves of course as I have let everything go for about 6 weeks with trying to get all of the questions answered.
Hope you all have a great weekend!
Jule

Morning all! This graphic is for you Jule! Don't you wish you were sitting here, instead of planting flowers in a snowsuit! Only kidding....it is going to be much warmer the next 2 days. And the first one of you that complains about it being too hot on Sunday when it hits 80...well...I WILL come to your house and smack you with a pillow.
Jule....1 down! Yay! That's how I did it...6 is a small number, and now it is reduced to 5...soon to be four..and after 4 you will be half-way...etc. I didn't have the same chemo as you and we all react differently, and I don't work outside the home (I am a lazy butt, and proud of it!) but I kept up with everything else including mowing and going to exercise every morning....I really think that helped me more than anything. But then, I was extremely lucky and never got sick from chemo or fatigued from rads. Lucky girl am I.
WendytheYounger....you home, sweetie? I hope so....big deep breath here....surgery is done! One big hurdle gone...you are on your way.
Rita, Jackie....how's your weather going to be this weekend? We are heading up in temps and it doesn't look like rain until maybe Monday...unless of course Tom Skilling has changed the forecast again. But it is sunny right now!
Laura.....well, at least the boot is off! I can't say too much more cuz I do know how you feel....when did I get to be 80! Between the morning normal aches and pains of being 55, plus the arimidex plus the nerve damage from that little (LITTLE???) herniated disc problem from last summer...I WANT MY ADVIL RIGHT NOW!!!! But...you are still cute as a bunny!
JulieR....sure hope you can come...did you by chance get any results yesterday?
JanClare.....If you have an extra one, could you bring a card from that med. place for the sleeve? I know you have posted that info for me twice and I thought I had saved it but I can't find it anywhere. I will need to order one for July flight. Thank you!
Calypso, NancyLA.....missing in action! Now that you are done...how are things going? Better I hope! Nancy I know you are busy on Wed, but Calypso, would love to see you again!
Susan...I thought you were coming on Wed since it was dinner! I do want to meet you tho...I'm sure some of us can get together for a lunch then.
Pat....how are you? Looking forward to seeing you again as well.
Leesa...how are you feeling? Don't overdo with the planting, but then I think you are finished. Did you tell Vic he is now our OFFICIAL dentist???? Lucky boy!
Karin...how is your weather going to be this weekend? You guys have really had a rollercoaster spring, weather-wise!
Mich101.....Hi there! Looking forward to finally meeting you.
OK......nuf puter time....the sun looks too good...time to shower (WHY do I always tell you I am showering? Freud would probably have something to say about that one....)
Tops down, fists up!!!!

Laura...I meant cute as a BUTTON, not bunny. I really think that chemo is still killing off brain cells ( and that's my excuse and I am sticking with it...so there)

Hi all and where to start. Glad all are cheerful in spite of aches, pains, feet, knees and chemo. Just teasin' a little here. I don't want to 'minimise' anything because it's not small. I know it's very real. Laura, I think I might have mentioned at one point long time ago....I have custom made orthotics. First set was from my Podiatrist, but they wore out fairly quick. Second set were Flexsprings....made of Swedish steel and so much better than the first set. They really are metal made with small springy cushions so that your foot is not held completely rigid, but rigid enough to do the job it's intended to do. After wearing those for a yr. I often go months w/o anything now.
Anyway, glad you all are doing fine. Jule, I thought of using that as it's the name on your avatar. I think it's pretty too.
Julie R....I too love your avatar. Must be Buster and what a fabulous cutie. The lady next door has a Chihuahua who looks just like your dog....his name is Chip--which he is no bigger than it seems. He and my Baby Boss ( Pomeranian ) love each other. They take turns going into each others yard and re-wetting trees and bushes.
We are not looking to have much good weather this week-end. Clouds quite possible for a good part of today--then progressively worse for Sunday--then Monday sounds like some major stuff might show up.
I was bummed for a bit---specially since we are doing our celebrating on Sunday for Denny's belated b-day as well as Memorial Day. Then I got to thinking about all I had been through this year so far and how fortunate I had the surgeon I did that found my second hidden tumor and just decided right then and there.....what's a little bad weather. At least I'm here ( and will be for many, many years to come ) to experience weather, good or bad, and to enjoy my friends and family, and all the ups and downs and twists and turns that life will be tossing at random. I guess I really do want to dance to the music...even when there are a few sour notes. Just makes the appreciation higher when the notes are clear.
I don't always have to like the weather, or lots of other things, but I can move through these things with the notion that sameness is dull and boring and these are just mini-challenges. I think there was a quote or saying about the longest journey starting with the first step so....I'll try to complain less and just step out into whatever life is handing out at the moment and see if I can make it better.
Ok, I'm off and running. Breakfast, one of Wendy's ( showers ) and then off to the mall in Mt. Vernon. Got to see those cute wild animal babies again.
Hope you all have a stunning Saturday....or at least a nice one.
Wendy the Younger- hope your home enjoying your Sat. as well.
Jackie

Hi All,
I am having trouble looing on the site again. Just in case I forgot, aol wants me to knkow it is not secure! What a pain in the......neck!
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday. It'll be good to dust myself off, and get out of the house. The construction is causing a little cabin fever, but I have to be around to see what's going on, and answer questions.
Wendy....I was planting flowers while wearing a fleece jacket. First time for that, but at least it didn't snow.
Blackjack...Hope you are enjoying Vegas, and that you have great weather!
Leesa Happy you are back, and doing well.
Afraid to make this too long, as I might get booted off again. I'll just say have a wonderful weekend to all!

Hi...I'm baaaaaack! You lucky girls, you!
I posted this under the chemo thread....I was soooo surprised!
Morning ladies! I've been done with chemo (Taxotere and Carbo + Herceptin for one year) since 5/9/2007 and I just noticed something and I wanted to pass it along.
I wore wigs from Feb 2007 thru 12/2007. Now...take into account that Herceptin can slow hair growth....
I just noticed this am when checking my roots to see if I really needed my touch-up on Tuesday. I have OVER 1/2" of gray showing in just 3 weeks. That is...everywhere EXCEPT my hairline where the wig would have been it's tightest. It wasn't tight, in fact I found them very comfortable and wore them all day, every day and pretty much almost until bedtime. I have virtually NO regrowth, ie: no gray along this edge. No wonder my bangs are taking so long to come back!
Now...do I know for a fact that this is why? No. But now I wish I had taken the wig off when I was home and maybe massaged along my hair line to get the blood flowing. Maybe it would have made a difference!
Just a thought for you guys
Gee....I did cut and paste on this site. I am sooo proud of myself!!!

Good morning everyone - yay, a warmer weekend for us IL chicks.
A couple of you asked about my avatar - yep, that's my baby, Buster. He's chihuahua mixed with something (we adopted him from a shelter, so don't know a lot about him). The vet thinks he is about 14 years old. He only has 3 teeth His tongue hangs out a lot.
I didn't hear anything about my MRI yet - but the surgeon said she hoped to have info later today/tonight. Apparently she called the radiology dept. yesterday morning demanding immediate results. Yeah - you go girl! (I heard this through the grapevine, cuz my BF works at the hospital.)
I had a really rough night last night, especially after doing some reading about the high risk of rads for ex-smokers (I quit the day I was DX). Just a sucky, sad, angry night in general.
Have I mentioned how good it feels to be able to just say this stuff & not have to explain myself ? I mean - it sucks that any of us have to be here - but I'm grateful that you are (you know what I'm saying...).
I hope you all have a very nice Saturday - I hope everyone gets to enjoy a bit of warmer weather. I hear we can all expect clouds/rain/t-storms for Sunday & Monday... oh well, what can ya do ? Stay inside, eat pizza, snuggle with pets/kids/favorite teddy bear... yeah, rain ain't so bad
Big hugs to all of you ladies!! JulieR

Sorry you had such a bad night last night. If it helps, we've pretty much all been there at some time or other. Sometimes I just got off the computer for a few days, and took a break from researching.
It may very well be that your rads won't be near your lungs...it depends on the exact location of the tumor. Your radiation oncologist will be able to tell you, and show you when the time comes.
I hope you got out in this wonderful weather today. I was planting flowers wearing a fleece jacket yesterday. First time for that, but I had fun anyway.
looking forward to meeting you!

Hi Girlz....
I just called blackjack in Vegas...she won $100 at the slots while on the phone with me. HA...Illinois girls aren't only tough and beautiful...we're lucky too! YAY...the weather there isn't real good...so I sent her some sunshine too! She said to say hi to all of you.
--------------------
Wendrew...bunny or button...I got the drift girl...thanks so much! I can't wait to see our "class clown"...that happens to be you girl, next Wednesday!
--------------------
I spent the day shopping for flowers for my window boxes...foot is killing me...will take a hot bath...I am convinced that is the cure for EVERYTHING! Even during chemo...that was my ESCAPE.
-------------------
Love ya all...miss ya all...
HEY - Me and blackjack had a GREAT IDEA...wadda ya think about planning a trip to LV for all the Illinois Ladies? How much fun would that be? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...think about it...
-------------------
Have a wonderful weekend...make the most of it...

JulieR - YES...I understand what you posted about your fears and your concerns...I'll never forget this: a couple of days after my dx, I was driving to pick up my dry cleaning, and it hit met...I thought: why am I picking up clothes that I will never be on this earth to wear? But then I thought: oh well...I better pick them up, because I AM GOING TO SURVIVE AND I AM GOING TO WEAR THOSE CLOTHES! Come hell or high water....this is just one chapter...the next chapter will be different...not necessarily better...but each step is a chapter...and the final chapter is a good one! Hang in there...you will win...

Hey gals! What a beautiful day here in central Illinois! Jackie, I wish you lived closer. We would have just piled you in the car with us and taken you to garage sales this morning. We had a ball and found some neat toys for the grandsons, books, and a bookcase. I even got a fiber optic Christmas tree at off-season prices! LOL
Then I put my flowers in the pots and planted all that I'd purchased. I love digging in the dirt and everything looks so good. The pots have brightened up the side and back deck. Now I need to get busy and weed some flower beds and put down new mulch. It's supposed to be nice again here tomorrow, but there's a chance of rain on Monday. It's just so nice to see the sun. Hey, I'd forgotten how large it really looks! LOL
Wendy the Younger is home. I got in the golf cart and went down the road to visit with her for just a few minutes this afternoon. She looked good and was in good spirits.
Laura...so glad that you've retired the boot! It seems that there is always something to keep us on our toes, doesn't it? Good luck with your check-up this week. What day do you go? Connie and I both go a week from Tuesday. Why am I already nervous about this? I guess that some of us are on very similar schedules!
Hey ...the Illinois gals in Vegas sounds pretty good to me! And how about that Blackjack????..winning while she's talking on the phone. She needs to give us lessons!
Wendy..did you have that top down today? It was sure top-down weather here today! Hey, Wendy, I've been meaning to ask if you watched the season finale of Desperate Housewives and if so, who do you think the man was that Susan greeted when she arrived home. It certainly didn't look like Mike her husband, did it?
Well, I hope everyone enjoyed this great weather today! Hello to all of you that I didn't mention by name. I can't wait to see you all again. JulieR...I hope you can join us. You're a great addition to our thread!!! :-)
I'm out of here for tonight!

Evening all,
I did not have as good a day as I wanted....but oh well. It happens.
Wendy, I'm so glad you said what you did about the wig. I have not worn mine all that much....though I do really like it. I mainly have reserved it for the two days I work....Thursday and Friday. I wear it all day but 'lose' it when I come home.
I don't mind going topless around the house....and around certain people. I'm sure they probably covertly keep an eye on me...it's human nature to some degree to check out something that you seldom get to look at so close up and personal. It's ok by me. I am not very vain for the most part. I mainly stay covered up for those people who would "make" too big a thing out of my stunning lack, or who would keep shuddering lest they get THE dreaded disease.
Hopefully, I won't have trouble with bangs....sure hope not. I did tend---especially this winter to keep a soft cap on my head to stay warm, and another one to sleep in. I doubt they did anything.
My wig ( that I got for free from the ACS--Look Good-Feel Better seminar along with free make-up ) is also not at all tight....and is on the thinnish side ( not thick, thick hair like some ) and is cool to wear.
Anyway, I'll be hoping.....do you think all the hair comes in gray and then turns later....I thought I read that somewhere.....because it has no pigment at first. If it's only half an inch....in no time it might be changing into your natural color.
Well, I'm off...got to see what I can dream up to fix for tomorrow. I think I'm going to do some of the potato salad I like....has sour cream in the dressing.

Hi All!
Got back home last night. It was so great to be in my own recliner! The hospital stay was...interesting to say the least. I have a couple great stories to share but they will have to wait until I can type more.
I just wanted to drop a quick line to say that I am home, off pain meds, and doing okay. Thanks for all your wonderful support!

wigs
IF YOU DONT MIND GOING TO CHICAGO THAT'S YOUR BEST BET I THINK
naturally yours..you have to make an apptmt. they used to charge like 400 dollars now they are more realistic prices-- but they go to great lengths to hide what kind and number of wig you have so you cant order from the net (wigs.com)
years ago mom had apptmt with them after chemo and the owner had no one to stay and had to go get some kids from school? I always was VERY mad about that, 1.5 hours from our house,
but mom really liked her 400 dollar wigs from there, they put some stitches in and make sure they fit well...
MY mOM got my sister from CA to take her there a few months ago, because they made me so mad and i would and did take her anywhere but there. then she wanted another one (recently) and she tricked me into having to take her after chemo, the owner was nice at first but if you look at too many wigs she is a witch....i guess i still dislike that place VERY much. at least they have come down in prices more like others and dont rip you off so badly contrary to 8 and 10 years ago. they also refuse to submit to your insurance saying it rarely is paid for. Cop out if you ask me. can you tell how much i dislike them? x 10
there is one that has GREAT variety on barrington road, down from sams club, i'm trying to find the card! i passed the blue biz card around at the first maggiano's luncheon...
i found a great wig many many months after i needed one and then ordered some more on line half price different colors (good luck charms?)
because they were then on clearance, discontinued only 53 dollars. i had been to three wig stores and never found one i liked .. they have no hair experience but the wigs are all out to see on mannequins, unlike any store i've been to.
lu lus had marked up prices and do not fit the wigs at all...in algonquin. that is where jan clare found her wig on clearance MUCH MUCH cheaper later, but we all loved that wig, she got beautiful use out of it! the owner and staff are very nice. if you take a wig cap you dont have to pay extra ONE DOLLAR when you try on wigs at most of those places....if you buy a wig they give it to you free. smile. i always forgot mine.
i had posted barrington road address here at some point...

special diets during and after chemo, etc.
I had appointment with naturapath and boy is it a lot to learn.
www.drmitchellND.com St. Charles
I am not excited, but I feel people that scoff at it, like me, are perhaps lazy (like me!)
It makes sense to not eat processed foods, they told me that in 2001 when my Dad was dying and got a colon bag.
K.Mitchell uses iridiology to see your health (photographing your eye).
She is very busy, I waited two months for appointment...you can, for 95 dollars send her eye photo and get consultation via email I think...
if anyone is interested we could do that maybe at lunch/dinner May 28th...
maybe she would give us a package deal...I am submitting three relatives' eye photos as soon as I get them off my camera!
I did the 1.5 hour consultation....A friend went to her and he learned about her from another friend from volleyball.
She has published four? books. Another friend in LaSalle County has heard highly of her and has a friend who studied from her, also.
I am also trying raw meat diet for my Dogs. www.DrKarenBecker.com
(seminar last week) My dog has a tumor in her nose, she is 14 so I am going to this dr. to try to make her last time more comfortable.
Jan Clare, how much do you know about your inlaw's diets? I want to do the raw food diet but it's very overwhelming, I guess I have to buy some books on the subject.
I will be putting package together of information and will email it to the addy list (for my sister and friends, delete if you are not interested!).

Oh, had such a great night. DH and I went to show a house in Chicago to a couple. DH is the lawyer for an estate of an old lady who died in the same house her dad built like 80 years ago and we showed the house to a a couple before it goes to the real estate person. The couple are Hispanic and this is now a Hispanic neighborhood. The old lady lived there all her life and stayed with a neighborhood that changed over the years. I hope this dear little family can buy the house! The house has all wood floors, stained glass windows and beveled doors separating the dining room from the kitchen and the parlor. Then dinner and a play! Fun night!
Wendy, where is the group going for dinner? I was thinking it was pretty far away from me. I may need to wait for a summer date as I am a wimp about staying out on a school night!
So glad, Wendy the younger, that you are home. Rita, I would love a golf cart. My dad had a golf cart!
Buster! Good for you for giving up the smoking. That is a very hard thing to do.
Laura, Hope the hip is okay. I am like Wendy in that I have pain off and on and I have no idea if it is arimidex, lack of muscle tone, chemo, or age. I have been taking my cat out on a leash (yes, my neigbors think I am nuts). The garbage truck went by, the cat went beserk and ran off with the leash. I bolted after ithe cat and I pulled out my back. Six months ago I would have thought I had mets to the spinal bone.....tonight I am PRETTY sure I pulled a muscle going after the cat.
Happy Memorial Day! Love to all!

Morning girls!!! No idea why this graphic is so big, and Jackie already sent this quote, but I think it bears repeating.
Just chuckling over what Laura said re the dry cleaners. I was dx'd in November and refused to buy any clothes until almost the next summer as I figured why? I was going to be dead anyway. Now...fast forward to one year later...I need to STOP going to Kohl's! Funny how our minds work, but nice to know isn't it that we've all been thru this....and you girls who are just starting your journey...it must be nice too that you know that whatever you are feeling, one of us has probably been there, done that. I so wish I had this group earlier in my journey, but so glad Rita started it...THANK YOU RITA!!!!!
Susan...the dinner is at Maggiano's, just across the street from Woodfield! That's not too far from you at all! I hear you about late nights...I am tucked up in bed every night by the time it gets dark...but you could come earlier and hook up with Rita and Mary Jane maybe, and then just have a quick dinner with us and still be home well before 9...would that work for you? Sure would love to meet you.
WendytheYounger....so glad you are home and resting! And you better heal up quick, girl....I think you have some good stories for us! Heck..invite Rita down the road and she can bring her computer and type for you!
Blackjack....winning I hear!
Laura....hmmmm...a trip to Vegas? I was thinking of talking to DH's niece when we go to Florida in July (she's a hotshot with Royal Carribbean Cruise Lines) and maybe see what deal I could get for a Ill BC Ladies Cruise!
JulieR....damage to lungs does and can happen but it really depends on like Pat said, where they aim, what side your tumor was on, how deep it was and too if you get lucky and have one of the new generation machines like IMRT which is so focused that there is so little radiation "scatter" to other tissue/organs. It is a VERY LOW percentage of pts who do get perm. lung/heart damage so like Sharon said one time, don't get on that worry train until you have to buy a ticket. At least I think it was Sharon.....And so glad you stopped smoking!
Rita...no idea who that man was in Susan's house and no, it wasn't Mike. I didn't take the Z out yesterday, but will take it for a run this am. And WendytheYounger better not tell you any stories before she tells us...sounds like her hospital experience was an interesting one!
Hope everybody else is well....I guess the rain they predicted is not coming in til later tonight so should be nice and will be able to grill for lunch at least.
Tops down, fists up!
