    Morning!

Blackjack....your idea of alternating lunch/dinner is a great one!  I'm pretty much open most of the time so let meknow what you decide.  Sorry that you are having to deal with all that mess at school.

Laura....your wanting to do CASA sounds so wonderful.  I just worry about your heart....yours is so big and so gentle that you might just start bringing all those kids home with you!

Rita...how was the BD lunch with WendyTY?  I still would love to see her in her mohawk!  I know she has a pic, but hasn't posted it yet.

My 3 new faucets are installed as well as my tub spout...and I am $900. poorer for it.  Yep.  $900.  BUT...he was here almost 4 hours and had to redo some of the copper pipes...something which is way out of my areas of expertise.  They look very nice, and it had to be done.  Hmmm....now I need a new project!  Too much time on my hands these days I guess.  I did stop at Menards (uh oh!  I know...Wendy went to Menards) and got one of the curved shower rods. We had one in Fl and those 6 extra inches it gives you really made a difference.  I will see what drilling into ceramic tile entails...if I don't have the correct bit I will put the rod in my bath as that one has a lower enclosure and the rod goes into dry wall.  Did see a fixture I would like for the powder room.....

Someone...get me a job quick before I start tearing out lights!!!!!!

Sharon - Are you stateside? Have you met with your Dr's?

JulieR - I will pm you with the info about becoming an animal advocate...just in case you ever decide to pursue it.

Susan - you should be very proud of taking that writing class...isn't it so true that we more often regret the things we DIDN'T do...

Wendy - OMG - I'm worried - you and electricity! NOT! Drilling into tile...does not sound easy! lol  And - you are sooooooooooo right...next thing I know - I'll be opening my own orphanage! I really need to consider this...I may ask if I can spend a couple of days with one of their seasoned advocates...ride around with them, etc. to see first hand how it goes. Should I pack a weapon...some of the hoods may not be so lovely!

Lisa - One rad down! Hang in there...hoping you sail through this next chapter!

Rita - Nice of you to take WTY for lunch...bet you two had a nice time!

blackjack - Man...you are the remod queen! Hope you get your nose out of those boxes soon! lol

Jackie - Are you leaving tomorrow?

    ------------------------------------------------

I hope you all have a great day!

    Hi everyone!

I'm back from a delightful day at the golf course.  Now I need to dig in and write some questions and make some money.

Wendy....instead of playing with electricity, perhaps you should take up golf or some other sport?????  LOL

Lisa...glad that your first couple of rads are done.  You will be surprised how fast they go.  It's just such a pain to have to appear every day!

Wendy TY and I had a nice lunch.  She no longer has the mohawk as all her hair is gone but I know she still has that picture.  I told her I would help her get some pictures posted and haven't done very good about doing that.  She had on one of her wigs and looked really cute yesterday.  Her Taxol begins on Friday.

Blackjack and Susan....I hope your school year gets off to a good start this year for you.  It doesn't seem like it should be time to go back already.  This summer flew by!

Well, I have lots to do.  I just wanted to check in and see how everyone was doing!  I think we're all BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!

    Catch you later.

HI all!  Remember me??  Kids start back to school next Monday so I will have more time to check in.  In the meantime, I've been running around like a chicken with no head.  We spent a week up at our lake in MI and then I came back last week to a huge problem at work.  So, all last week I spent trying to sort it out.

I skimmed the last couple of pages to see what was going on.  Congrats, Julie R.   Sooo happy for you!

I hope everyone else is doing well.  I promise I will be back regularly after Labor Day.

    Hi,

Well, finally happened. Kids have been coming home from camps with runny noses, sneezes and no hand washing or wringing was enough to save me.  Came down with a major bug. Throat so swollen I could barely get tea down and by mid day, was running 102 fever. Had onc checkup anyhow- he agrees it's probably viral, but put me on antibiotics just in case.  Had a headache so bad (from fever?), that I was actually holding my head in one hand and trying to drive home with the other.

Today is a bit better- fever down to 100 and headache is only lurking.  Working from home today and hoping to be much improved by Friday--- my next chemo (and final....!)  If not, it's going to have to be postponed and I'm going to be really pissed. Onc wants to postpone it potentially to Monday- -which will knock me out of work for a few days midweek. I'm trying desperately to keep and excel in this job and while no-- it shouldn't give anyone ammunition for anything-- I have so many plates spinning, I'm afraid of some falling.

On the lighter side, my son- 6 called out  to me last night-- he sometimes has nightmares. We talk about them and he usually goes back to sleep. Mostly doesn't remember them in the morning. Last night, he told me he was worried about the "Tower of Pizza."  That it was going to fall over.  I couldn't fathom what he meant, but reassured him that if the pizzas fell over, we would stack them back up.  He seemed to accept that and went back to sleep. It was only later that I realized he was talking about the Tower of PISA. (Had recently seen a tv show about Italy).  Been snickering about it all morning.  I asked him- but he has no recollection of the dream.

He starts first grade tomorrow!   When did that happen...

    Good Morning everyone,

It's very pretty outside and I have a lot of things to do, but I really don't mind.  I do enjoy staying busy for the most part.  Great to see you again Connie.  Glad that you have had a fun summer with your children and that you made lots of great memories for this year.

I will have fond ones today while I blow off the drive-way ( sigh ) once again from all the nut casings, shells and tid-bits of sticks and leaves that drip out of the trees while the squirrels fill their little bellies for the winter.  Sure makes me wish the nut trees were back away from the house but you don't much get that choice in the country ---  especially if your house was already here when you bought it.  I still don't think I could ever live in town, but admittedly it's  nice to be nearly within walking distance of town.

I'll be checking in later.....got to get busy on my HEAVY load for today.

Julie Chicago(B)----we were posting same time.  That is so funny about the tower of Pizza.  I think I might have seen that show too as it was the first thing I thought about.  How funny.

Sorry to hear that you got the infection.  I was so fortunate during my chemo.  Came into contact so often with sick people but only one incident.  It's such good news to hear you only have one chemo left. I certainly can understand completely not wanting it to have to be delayed.  You look forward to counting them all down and SEE this picture of WHEN you are done and then someone warns you the picture may be wrong.  Not a good feeling.  I'd offer some hope, but the only good thing is going to be if you don't get delayed so I'm hoping as hard as I can for you.

Wow !!!!  First grade ---  another milestone on the way to college, but your right.....it starts so slow and then before you know it your left wondering why you didn't notice and wondering if it's possible to freeze frame just a bit.  Guess we just have to try and enjoy ( not the easiest thing to do in the midst of chemo ) and know that whatever is happening to us probably happened to our moms too.

    See you all again.

      Morning!

Connie???  Connie????  Hmmm....I do seem to remember a Connie....is she that cute girl with the curls???  (only kidding!  we knew you were having agreat summer with your family)

Rita....it would be much safer for me to play with electricity than for me to pick up a steel rod and swing that around people's heads, trust me!  I did find a light fixture for the powder room, and one for over the kitchen table.  Still looking for the dining room...when I find all 3 I will purchase them and CALL AN ELECTRICIAN.  I promise...cross my heart!  Did put up the curved shower rod in my bath yesterday....those 6 extra inches really made a difference!  EAsy to install for me....just needed a masonry bit to drill thru the tile with some of that blue painters tape over the tile.  REally quite easy.

Lisamed....you are on rad #3 today, correct?  I know that it seemed to take forever for me...but it really does go fast!

JulieChicago....tower of pizzas!!!!! I love that!  I don't have kids but I took care of my nephew's little girl for her first 2 years and she goes into 2 nd grade this year...and my other grandniece needs to start wearing a bra (which she refuses to do)...When exactly did all this happen?  I certainly did not get any older.....when did they?

    Jackie...when do you leave?

Everyone...hope you are having a wonderful day so far....Enjoy!  This is the only life we are going to have (at least, I think so!)...so go out and have fun!

JulieChicago - cute story about the Tower of Pizzas :)  I'm sorry you've been so sick. Ugh, like you need one more thing to deal with, right?  I hope you get rid of that asap.

Connie - hey, hey, good to see you....  thanks for the congratulatory message.

Good morning to WendyK and Jackie too....   and anyone else who is popping by today.

Ok, I want to share.......I'm gonna try to paste a pic of my e-ring here, since I can't show it to any of you in person!  I keep looking at my hand, saying "holy cow, I'm really getting married!"  haha.  It feels so weird to have a ring on my left hand.

Good morning!  Hope all is fine and that Julies wedding plans are going well and Julie B is feeling better.  Laughed at the tower of Pisa.

A few years ago my husband was in Belgium where they have this famous fountain of a small, naked boy peeing into the fountain.  It is called the Mannekin Pis, which I think just translates sculpture/statue.  My husband was fascinated by it and bought some  small models.  However, when he said what the name of the statue was, I laughed and understood why he bought it.  He heard the tour guide say  "American Piss"!

Had my MRI lastThursday, mammogram tomorrow and see the Onc. tomorrow.  I thought if there was any emergency with the MRI, they would contacted me earlier, so I guess that is good.

I was talking with my son, the Dr. (I love to say that).  I told him I thought that my skin was turning like crepe paper because of a lack of real estrogen due to Tamoxifin.  My compassionate son said, Oh Mom, your just getting old!

Going to get a manicure and pedicure before going to the Dr.  Vanity, thy name is woman.

    Be good all.

    Hello everyone!

Gee Wendy, I just keep trying to think of interesting things for you to do so you stay out of trouble!  LOL  Glad you got your shower rod installed already!

Connie...so good to hear from you and better yet to know that you've had such a good, busy summer!  You go, girl!  It's good to have you back!

Sharon, thanks for the update. I've been thinking about you alot latetly and wondering how things were going with your tests.  I'm sending good vibes for good results tomorrow.  Like you, I think if  the MRI showed anything too suspicious, they would have had you right back in there.

Jackie..don't work too hard today.  I've learned that everything seems to wait for us!

Julie Chicago....hang in there.  I'm glad you got an antibiotic.  Hopefully it will do the trick and you'll be able to get that last treatment in tomorrow instead of having to wait until Monday.    Hugs!

Buster's Mom....I couldn't get your picture of that ring to download.  Karin's great at helping us download photos so just pick her brain if you need to.  We want to see that ring!!!!!

I hope everyone in treatment is doing well today.  Just keep marking them off on your calendar and before you know it, you'll be done!

Have you gals on Arimidex received the new packaging yet?  When I went to get my prescription this time, they came in a folder.  Each pill was in an individual spot with a day of week beside it.  You pop the pills out in the back.  I liked the idea of the days of week being by the pill as there's sometimes that I forget if I've taken my pill or not, but the packaging is pretty tough and it's hard at times to get the pills out.  What's your take on it?

Well, I'm on a roll with my trivia book so I need to get back to work.  Everyone have a great day!

Cute pizza story!

Connie - Glad you checked in...I can imagine juggling work and b-t-s!

Wendrew - Ahhhhhhhhhhhh...if you golf everyone better hit the ground! LOL

Sharon - Glad you checked in...best wishes to you at your appts.

    Evening everyone.....

Gee, I'm starting to get the feeling here that I am a bit of a klutz!  How did you guys find out so quickly????????

Laura....I too am getting a bit bored which is why I need something new in my life, some new direction.  Right now I am still spinning around, trying to find which way to go...but all I am is very dizzy.

JulieR...your ring did not show up for me...yep...upload it to photobucket...it's free to join.

Sharon....sending along my good vibes as well for all your results.  Nice son to tell you that you're just OLD!  But isn't it great that you are off for a mani/pedi so you look good for the doctors.  Isn't is nice to be at this point?

JulieB...hope you are feeling much better and can say "adios" to Senor Chemo.  Got my fingers crossed for you.

Karin...how are your temps now?  Cooler I hope.

We heard from DH's family down where we just were in Florida...Fay had stalled right over them (they are in Melbourne and Satellite Beach).  SIL's house...the water is creeping up the driveway and liv room windows are all leaking.  Nephew's house...water is up to the pool enclosure and starting to creep thru, roof is pouring in buckets over their second floor playroom and the lst floor den windows are all leaking and they are supposed to leave for a speaking engagement in Russia tomorrow.  His niece over beachside in Satellite Beach...all her streets are under water, sewers are backing up and they have water creeping in the house...already over ran the pool.  So far they all still have power tho.  I guess the hotel where I stayed ... the lobby is under water and so is the pool area/parking lot and the WalMart right across the street is totally flooded.  It's very bad...they have had about 14.8 inches of rain in 20 hours and are expecting about 4-5 more.  And we won't talk about the snakes and gators....

You know, South Elgin looks pretty good today!

    Hi all,

Three rads down, 30 to go!  I do see the doctor tomorrow.  I am having a pain in my back that I am going to mention to her.  It is probably stress, and the more I think about it, the more stressed I get, and the more it hurts.  My onc. does not due regular scans, only if there are symptoms.  The first onc I saw did regular scans every three months for years.  I honestly do not know whihc way I like better.  I think I almost had a breakdown waiting for the results of my initial scans after my surgery.

I am really looking forward to climbing into bed tonight with my new Real Simple magazine.  I cannot believe tomorrow is Thursday already.

    Have a good evening.

Looks like a cloudy one for us, with some rain coming in later which is fine by me....tired of watering.  DH was so surprised last night when he watched our neighbor stand iin the middle of his lawn with the hose and slowly turn round and round...for 20 minutes.  Yep...they do this all the time.  I would buy them a sprinkler if it wasn't so hilarious to watch.

Rita...I got the new arimidex packaging last refill and since I put my weekly pills in one of those pill holders I really didn't need it....and then I tried to get those little frickin pills out of the package.  What in the h**l were they thinking?  If you scroll down to the topic on hormonal tx you can see that there is a thread on this very thing...and some posts from the company actually apologizing for this HUGE mistake in a package for hormonally-challenged women!  They are starting to ship late-Sept's pills back in the bottle and you can request that your pharm. gets those for you...otherwise they are redesigning the package.  There is also a post from one lady who showed in pics how to destroy the package so you can get those little pills out.  What were they thinking????  I know I shot 2 across the kitchen floor which have disappeared.

Lisamed...3 down!  Woooohoooo!  Is Real Simple that organizing mag?  I've always wanted to pick up one of those...worth it?  My onc doesn't do scans either on node-neg's if you have no symptoms and I am OK with that.  I think.  Maybe.  But I do know that waiting for a test, and then waiting for results can drive my batty.  My next 6-month bil mammogram is the Friday after Labor Day and I have already started worrying myself to death over it.  Like DH says...either way worrying about it does not change the outcome of a test.  I try to think like him but it doesn't seem to work for me.  One of the girls, Motheroffoursons always says not to buy that ticket for the worry train until you need to...but of course I am already standing in line!  Oh well....human nature, and the nature of this beast.

Laura....took me hours to figure out that in your message to Connie you said "b-t-s"...and it meant back to school.  Duh.  Double duh.

Blackjack...I miss your posts!  Hopefully your office is coming along, as is your remodel.  Any thoughts on a lunch soon?

Leesa...are you done with rads yet?  Any news on the job front?  Are you covered by insurance yet?

JulieR...how are the wedding plans coming?  I've been married so long they didn't have fire yet, so I know I would be no help whatsoever!

Smerf....is your remodel done yet?  I miss your posts as well.

Need to check out how Florida is doing...saw pics last night of the Melbourne area....wow.  Lots of roads totally underwater.  My hotel looked like it was floating.

    Everyone...have a fists up day!

Lisa, my onco doesn't do scans at all either unless you have symptoms - just like yours.   Like you said, which is worse?  Hope that back pain is getting better as we speak.  (PS - I love Real Simple magazine!)

Wendy, you crack me up!!    I think you should have us all over to watch the Human Sprinkler next door - lol.

Wedding plans are pretty simple since it's so small.....  Maggiano's is all set & I'm sure our families will love it. And I'm so happy, my dad offered to foot the bill!! YAHOO!!  I have to shop for a dress yet, but since I'm having weekly "fills" at the PS, I'm going to wait a bit before I shop - and I'll be taking a break from the PS for a few weeks in order to not have too much pain on wedding day (and night, LOL!)

Oh - and I'd like to try & lose these few pounds that crept on just before & after surgery. Ugh.   At least it's only about 6 - 7, although that's plenty.  Clothes are tight!  But food is yummy! Embarassed

How is everyone doing?  Hi to Laura, Rita, Karin & everyone else.   I didn't get a chance to try photobucket yet - but maybe tonight or tomorrow.

Off to shower & get ready for PS  - yahoo.  Don't like the pain, but I do like getting my womanly profile back.

    Hugs to everyone!! JulieR

Wendrew - I hope it doesn't get worse in FL...that is so terrible. OMG - your neighbors...huh? What they heck is wrong with them?

JulieR - Nice Dad! Good luck with your appt today...

Jackie - The nuts keep falling here...same by you still? Check this out...it sounds like popcorn popping as they fall onto my deck! If I stand out there, maybe I could get some sense knocked into me! LOL This is just overnight! The pile is from yesterday!

Wendy - love the sprinkler story.  Is this the vampires that do this?

Laura - got your email on the walk.  I would love to join, but I have to check my calendar.  How many of us have signed up so far?

Hugs to those suffering through treatment!

Hi everyone,  I'm at work and Laura....that is my drive-way.  We have a LOT of
walnuts so you don't want to be around when the squirrels jar a whole one loose and down it comes.  They make a loud popping sound when they hit the drive-way.  We can't easily park our cars there right now.  It also sounds like some animal in the brush if they come loose and fall in the woody parts around us.

I have an electric blower ( back-pack is too big for this job ) that I use to blow off the drive-way.  It's dangerous out for awhile.  This happens now and then when the acorns start we get digging in all the lawn, flower pots etc.  It's a heavy work period for them and us.

Work calls, got to go but hi to all.

Lisa, I to do not get scans unless I have symptoms.  For me, that works as I hate being in hospitals.

I am back in school and so busy.  I miss sleeping late!

    Hope all is well!

    Hi again everyone,

I've been online so much this week - I'm a junky!

Back from the PS - had fill #3. PS says I'm almost "at capacity" - probably 1 more fill to go.  I have to say, things are filling out nicely.  Then I'll have my exchange surgery after we get married.

You guys & your falling nuts are cracking me up!!  I don't know why it's so funny to me - but it is.

My cousin is going to send me some info on doing work from home - I really need to get some dough coming in until I can get out there in the world & work FT again.  So that's good news.

Hope everyone's doing okay - and wondering how JulieChicago is feeling!!

    Hugs, JulieR

Hi everyone, like Connie said, remember me too? I apologize but I don't seem to get on the computer much these days. Between working, kids, animals, cleaning, Olympics, etc., my days and nights fly by.

Congrats on your engagement Julie R! I wish you all the best and a lifetime of happiness and health!

Sharon, I know of the statue in Belgium. I saw it many years ago. Funny story with your husband.

To everyone else, hoping you are feeling well and wishing you a great weekend!

Hi. Thanks to all for the kind words and good advice. I went in for right ultrasound this week, and ended up going to another location to use a better ultrasound. They couldn't find anything, but that worried the doc because of the MRI. So then he wanted to do another MRI and a biopsy if necessary. It sounds something like Lisa posted. If they still found nothing, then monitoring it every 6 months. At that point, I said I could have a masectomy and it would be taken care of. In my mind and heart I know I should just do the bilateral. I guess I will get it figured out within the next couple of weeks.

By the way, expensive week...we had to buy a new engine for my car! JulieR congrats on wedding plans. Juliechicago, I hope you feel better now. Take care everyone. Thank goodness it's Friday!

Morning!  Yay!!!  It's Friday!!!!  Don't know why I care since I am a lazy butt and the days of the week really don't matter!

Jule...so hard to make a decision when the tests/scans are not agreeing and the powers that be just say..."hey...we'll just watch that for 6 months".  A bx does seem like a good choice, but then so does a bil...and you go back and forth, and back and forth.  Your decision is so hard and I wish I could help in some way but I have never been in your shoes exactly so I know I am not much help.  Just know that I think about you and am sending you big hugs.  Remember...my fort is always open...I'll supply the cheese and crackers and you can bring the "whine"!  Maybe send a PM to JulieR and talk to her about how she made her choice.  Just a thought....

JulieChicago...were you able to have your last chemo today?  I hope so....

Mich101...yes, you I do remember!  You're the other Her2 girl here!  Did you hear that in New Zealand the ins. industry stopped paying for a year of Herceptin?  Said we only need 9 weeks of it vs a year...the data just didn't support the outcomes.  I'm not sure how I feel about that...are those women getting cheated out of this drug, or did we get too much...or boy, are we lucky cuz we got so much extra?????  Cripes...another thing I have been worrying about.

Sharon....how did your onc appt go?  Hopefully...extremely well.  Was he impressed with your mani/pedi?

JulieR....working from home?  Now that sounds interesting....doing what if I might ask.  I need something to do and I am interested in doing something outside of medicine.  What type of dress are you looking at?  Long?  Tea length?  Color?  Hat?

Laura...got the link for the walk...could you send it again?  I deleted you by mistake.  I won't be able to make the walk...but I def. want to send a contribution.

Connie...yes, it is the vampires that have turned into the human sprinklers.  They now cut the grass together, barefoot.  Yes...TOGETHER.  2 adults, barefoot, pushing one mower...and they sing while they cut the grass.  I'm quite used to it all...DH was flabbergasted this summer, watching and listening to all the strange goings-on.  At least the nights have been quiet.

Everybody else...have a wonderful day.  Going off to the gym to be a good little girl and do all my back exercises and try to build up some of the muscle tone I lost this summer...boy, does that muscle go fast!  I've stopped waving goodbye....waaaaaay too much flapping of the arms!  So not attractive......

    Hi Harmonysun/Brenda,

I live on Palatine Road in Wheeling, just on the edge of Prospect Heights.  Sorry to hear about your need for surgery, but you will find the Illinois gals are a great source for encouragement and answering questions.  The gals meet for lunch periodically to encourage and provide information.  They are an interesting and varied group.  Very uninhibited as they have been know for "show and tell" after surgeries to encourage each other.Wink

I am going to Northwestern, but downtown.

Illinois gals, Is it true that we have 3 Julies on the board?  I am getting all mixed up since that is a higher number than 2!

I had my Dr. appointment after MRI and mammogram.  Good news and bad news.  I passed my mammograms, my pancreas/liver cysts are stable.  However, the MRI showed a dermoid cyst (I believe it is on my ovary, although I don't have the results in front of me). Dermoid cysts are the result of a rogue egg cell run amuck.  It may be related to tamoxifen, which I am taking.  Fortunately, they are usually benign.

I have an appointment for an ultrasound next week, and see a gyne-oncologist two days later.  My regular onc. already told me they will take it out, which means laproscopic day surgery with general anesthesia. They will probably take out both ovaries as I am menopausal and it is "extra equipment".

For someone with "just DCIS", I seem to be having a lot of weird complications.

Best to all.  There are so many posts I have a hard time keeping up!

    Good afternoon ladies!

Wendy, my cousin works from home & is going to send me some info.  I believe there are a few different types of opportunities.  I am happy to forward it to you if you'd like me to - PM me if 'yes'.      Oh - I want to find a knee length dress; preferably white with some bling on it.  I have a very delicate tiara/headband that I plan to wear on my noggin.

Mich101 (good to see you!) and Jule - thanks for the well wishes.  I'm really excited!

Sharon - sorry to hear about the surgery. Darn. That stinks.

Speaking of cysts, I have to schedule my Liver CT to check that 'nodule'.  I think I'll wait til after wedding (?)  What would you do ?  Doc said anytime in September is fine.

And I'm having a weird new thing for 3 days now - numbness on my chin & lip.  I did a quick search & found some really scary crap about mandibular cancers that can be breast mets.  Sigh.    I didn't have to look long or hard to come up with that info either.   Normally I'd never even worry about something like that - but now... oh you girls know exactly where I'm coming from.   Yell

Okay - enough of that poop.  I hope you all have a great Friday.  Hugs, JulieR
