Hope-4-Cure....glad you are feeling better. I didn't have drains but so many have had and it has aways sounded as though it made things difficult and recovery a bit more challenging. I hope things just keep looking up now.
Prayers and hugs,
Jackie

hope4cure - Drains, drains, go away... hang in there! I likened them to a ball and chain.

Happy Birthday Laura and many, many more.
Got to say once again Rita....what a fantastic picture on your avatar and I love the color of your hair.
A little muted sun here but the big thing is .....it's so warm. Going to get up into the 70's on the week-end. Nearly summer. A little gray and could have some rain but these are spring-time items for sure so I can be fine with it.
Prayers and hugs to all.

Happy Birthday Laura! CELEBRATE! What fun things are planned????
I have to fess us gals! Laura picked the picture, did everything that had to be done to it, and sent it to me with instructions on how to load it! I owe it all to her! I think it was taken this last summer at Starved Rock. Thanks Laura. I even got it posted finally on Facebook. First I got it put in the photo album section and FINALLY I figured out how to get the profile version.
Hey Wendy....we're both having lots of fun today. I just got back from getting my bloodwork done and I'm doing laundry, too! Gosh we think alike!!!
I have a hair appt in a few minutes so I need to get off of here. I hope everyone is having a good day! I'll be back later.

Hi Wendy,
You missed a good meal at the Candlelight Inn in Rock Falls, IL. They are the home of Chicken George which is delicious!! I live just south of there in the middle of lots of cornfields. You should visit our town the first week of August. I live in Mendota and it is the Sweetcorn capital of the world. We have a huge Sweetcorn festival every year and Del Monte provides free corn for everyone. There is a big parade, rides, beer garden, bands, etc. for three days.
Take care,
Nancy

Laura is the birthday girl! We love you! Happy Birthday! Blow all those candles out!

Hey Nancy! Everyone in that area loves the Candlelight! We also love Angelo's Pizza...the real greasy kind! LOL I've never been to the Mendota corn fest but have heard about it. We might make the trip down this year. We love the festivals. I'm glad to know it's the first week in August. Hey do you ever go to Deer Grove to the chicken place there? It's just a bar. I thnk it's called Arnies and they have wonderful fried chicken. If you haven't tried it, you should check it out. I know they serve chicken on Sundays but imagine they serve on Sat. nights, too.

HI everyone - just checking in. I was in Atlanta earlier this week and came home with either a case of stomach flu or food poisoning - not sure which. I feel much better today.
Rita - you look smokin in your new pic!
hope4cure - I too felt the drains caused a lot of the pain - glad you got them removed.
Happy birthday Laura and Juliet

Hi girls,
Just checking in before I leave for home.
Happy birthday Laura! Today is my one year anniversary of my bi-lat surgery! I am now officially starting my second year of being cancer free!
Great picture Rita.

First of all - *** HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO QUEEN LAURA** WHOOOOHOOOOOOO I hope you are having a fabulous b-day.
Second of all - thank you all so much for the lovely b-day wishes. I loved them all!!!! Had a fun b-day, DH & I went out to Walter Payton's Rounhouse in Aurora & drank some different beers & ate some food. I was quite pooped out by the time we got home (heck I'm still tired...)
Internet has been down all day long til just now - so I need to go read posts & see what's been going on - other than the b-day celebrations, haha.
Be back soon.... Hugs, Juliet

Happy Birthday Laura! Hope you enjoyed the beautiful weather today.
Rita-Love your new avatar! I'm still sad that I missed Starved Rock.

Happy Birthday Laura!
It has been a few years since I have visited Starved Rock. I thought it was very pretty when I visited it. I am no stranger to the Bloomington area. I worked for an agency up there and did a lot of driving across the state.
I am getting a little cabin fever here - I am not one to stay home so much. I am usually on the move. Slowly, slowly getting better. The weather is slowly improving too. It was very windy today but at least it is warmer.

Morning!
Laura....you sweet thing.....I hope your Birthday is filled with happiness, sunshine, joy and much love. Always...much love!
IllinoisNancy...yep, I did see Candlelight....the parking lot had a waiting line to get into it! I also had seen it mentioned on the website for Rock Falls. The sweet corn festival sounds good, tho. Hopefully...someone will remind me in late July!
Jennifer....it was soooo windy yesterday! I tried sitting on my deck...nope. Tried the front porch, nope. Too much dirt in my eyes and teeth! Cabin fever means you are doing better! Less wind today so get out for a bit!
Juliet.....you sound like your BD was nice, just the two of you! I've been to the Roundhouse once but always wanted to go back during the summer to sit outside. Looks nice! Glad your day was fun.
Jacks....furniture out yet? Grilling today???
Rita...I saw Angelo's Pizza but Tom only gets pizza once a month (his diet, not mine!) and since it was only the 1st of the month, he didn't want to "waste" his one and only pizza on the first day!
Just glanced up...where did all that fog come from?
Blackjack....how are you feeling? Check in when you can....
Smerf, calling Smerf!
Susan...glad your back is back to 100%! I bet you will be glad when this week is over! You have a vacay coming up! Packed yet???
Time to scoot....have a lovely Friday everyone! Enjoy the weather today as the weekend sounds yucky.

Good Morning. Can't believe I'll have to be inside all day working on what will be a gorgeous day. Temps are going slightly higher than predicted and the rain they thought would be here now is hiding somewhere else. Hope you all will be enjoying....it's been a long winter and a couple of days with the warmth and we will definitely see small buds and other indications of winter slipping away for good for this year.
I don't have my deck furniture out yet --- was hoping Dh would get it re-sealed so I wouldn't have to take if all off again later......sigh !!!! May have to just go ahead and put it out. That grill could get used just any old time now. Time to get some chicken breasts to barbecue.
I'll be checking in after work. Hope you all are able to take advantage of this beautiful weather.
Prayers and hugs,
Jackie

Hi Ritajean and Wendy,

Take care,

Just checking back in.....wonder of wonders I have had to open windows at work. Just what I like. Bet more are opened later on. This one is by my desk. My phone went dead --- no idea why but had to come to another desk for now till the boss gets back.
Nancy, wish I lived closer....that Sweetcorn festival does sound fun and something I'd really enjoy. We could barely wait for the planted fields of corn near to our house when I was a kid. Farmer told us to pick all we wanted daily for the nights' supper. Nothing better if you ask me. Well, it wasn't so great when I was older and had to do the shucking....but hey. That's life in corn country.
See ya'll later.
Prayers and hugs,
Jackie

Gorgeous up here too! I proctored my last ISAT of my career today. Yahooooo! One of my collegues suggested I pop open some champagne and toast with the kids (OBVIOUSLY, you know he was kidding)! I am so at peace with the retirement decision. I am so ready to try other life stuff!
I went home and very soon thereafter, my daughter and son-in-law came by and my grandhchild came running (toddling) up my driveway and hugged me. Wow, what a great way to begin a weekend.
Wendy,I love the DH pizza thing. It is our tradition to have pizza every Friday night. We have been doing that since our kids were little. So one pizza a month? Boy, he has self-discipline.
How is Blackjack? Please let us know if you are still bed-resting.
Julie, belated b-day wishes!
Michele, Starved Rock was a good thing. Maybe we could do that again. We had lunch and it was so pleasant. I went the night before with DH and we made a nice weekend of it. Deer Grove looks pretty nice to me right now! I love small towns. Any antique stores in Deer Grove? If so, I am coming!
I am about to start the whole annual thing with the MRI. My breasts are so dense and my whole dx was riddled with "just wonderfully clear mammograms" that I need to do the MRI, as only it finds stuff. I have decided to put that off until after my Spring break to Arizona by one month. I want to just vacation and that MRI can wait a month.
Have a great weekend!

Well...Weatherwise, it was nice while it lasted!
Laura...hope your BD was fun! You and DH do anything special?
Karin....still laughing re: South Elgin. I only moved out here from Chicago 8 years ago. I didn't even know there was a South Elgin until my nephew moved out here in 2000! They finally put up new town signs...pop. up to 21,000!
Susan.....glad you had such a nice day yesterday! Must be nice, ticking off all those "lasts" - well, at the least the un-fun ones!
Jacks....how's your hair doing by the way? It must be pretty long by now!
Not much going on for us this weekend...DH has one of the annoying colds. You know...the kind men get, and then they annoy the h*ll outta you! So..with the cold and the rain...I don't think we will be hopping in the car to go exploring. May rent a movie or something for tonight. Hope you all are doing well...have a great Saturday!
PS: Carol berrypatch...only ONE MORE!!!!

Morning.....I'm smiling now but our bad weather will come. Late? tonight, lots and lots of rain and maybe high winds. Our weather mainly is for the St. Louis, Missouri area. We are 70 miles west of St. Louis so while we do get it.....we don't know how much, how strong, better or worse. We have though been lucky and not gotten any at all of the prediction, but I'm pretty sure we will this time.....just too warm.
Ah, my hair. It's been growing ever so slow though it finally did get past spiking stage. That is one of the reasons I got the perm. I very much needed the body ( having some curl doesn't hurt anything either ) and I really didn't want to cut it just yet. Very shaggy and uneven and unable to do much with it before the perm. People that I don't see a whole lot of ( Realtors from some of the other companies in town ) for long stretches have been coming in saying very complimentary things......about how good I look and how good my hair looks. So, I guess I did make a good choice. You may recall.....un-like many of you, my hair did not change much when it came back. Seemed in the mane!!!!! ( get that ) to be about as thin, fine, straight and brown ( though darker brown ) as it always was.
Carol, along with Little C, and some of the others are being fairly quiet lately.....well, I'm thinking about all of you and wanting all to be well for you.
I'll be checking back in later on......not going to put anything on the deck just yet.....got to wait for the spring nasties to get calm.....winds and rain etc. See ya'll later.
Prayers and hugs,
Jackie

....again, the above post is Jan's and was submitted to the "seasoned" bc board. I have taken the liberty of cleaning it up a little......Jan, it doesn't always work for me to clean things up. I copied and pasted it into an email and then copy and pasted the email here. It was such a nice piece I felt like I had to try and see if it would work..

Jan, yes, please take notes when you go to that forum and any handouts they give. I am especially interested in the radiation longterm. I have just heard that all these mri's may be putting too much radiation in our bodies. I am very concerned because I was on prempro for years as my then Doctor said it would keep my bones in good shape. Now I wonder if it gave me breast cancer at the same time, or at least shifted the natural order of things fed the cells that would later become cancer. I am not so convinced that doctors know what is really best for us. So let us know what you learn about radiation and arimidex.

Hi ladies. Good morning from northern Lake County. It is really raining here. I hope everyone is doing well and enjoyed the nice weather we had earlier this week. I think about all of you often and I wish you ladies the best everyday. I love reading all of your posts. Sorry I don't post that often, but I am trying to do better.
I just had my annual mammogram on Wednesday and it was all clear! I was so relieved. The radiologist said that it was much clearer this year compared to last year...less scar tissue than before.
I've been on arimidex now for 2 1/2 months and I see my oncologist on 3/18. I also had to have a Dexa scan done to see how my bones are reacting with the arimidex. The bad news is that I now have early osteoporosis. My oncologist said he would probably put me on one of the bone strengthening meds (Evista, Fosomax, etc.). Not sure which one. My primary care doctor told me to ask him about Reclast (once a year IV). I'll let you all know. I exercise everyday and try to eat healthy, but I guess it is because of my slender build and weight.
I'm going into Chicago tomorrow to see my two sons who are in college. I hope the rain subsides, but I will be prepared with my umbrella.
Hope all of you have a great weekend. I'll check in again soon.
Love and hugs...
