    Good afternoon!

O.K. gals...I made it through my oncology appointment today.  I really hated to go because I thought that my bc may have spread to the lungs.  I had that terrible cold in late December and took 2 different antibiotics before my trip to Florida.  It cleared up a bit in Florida and then when I got back everybody around here was sick again with it and I got it again, too.  In fact, I still have it.  I have a cough that hasn't stopped for nearly 3 months and I was a mess.  My onc said that the bloodwork looked good....and my tumor marker was an 18, up from a 14 last time.  He told me that if the cancer was in my lungs or elsewhere in my body, it would be up in the 80's.  He thinks that the cough is due to allergy related situations now.  If it continues into the summer we will do a chest x-ray.   So Laura and the rest of you who are experiencing symptoms that have you concerned............I UNDERSTAND!  This really messes with your emotions and your mind!

I did get some other information from him that we have been discussing off and on over a period of time on here.  He does a bone density test after patients have been on Arimidex for 2 years.  I had the initial baseline done before starting the Arimidex, so that's coming up for me later this year.   He will also be doing a vitamin D test in August when I next see him.

When I asked him what I should be doing to prevent a recurrence or mets he said:  Lose 5 pounds by my next appointment in August. (I'm up 11 pounds total from the time he first saw me until today).  He told me I could safely try the Acai Berry products targeted at the belly fat.  He said to eat balanced meals, and avoid sugars.  If I feel the need for a sugar fix, I'm to consume regular sugar and not sugar substitutes.  He told me to walk for exercise and do no weight bearing exercises of any kind with my left arm.  According to him, a flabby arm is better than a fluid-filled one.  He also said that more and more research is linking alcohol consumption (including my favorite wine) with recurrences and told me to pick my times of celebration selectively.  How's this compare with what you're getting from your oncs?

Well, I just finished up my taxes so I can drop them off tomorrow so I have two major stress factors that I can put on the back burner for now.

    Hugs to all of you!

    Rita

Thinking about all who are going through tough times lately. So glad we have this site to talk about what's bothering us and for comfort, opinions, laughter.......hugs......

Rita-I've never had a tumor marker test done that I know of, nor a Vitamin D test?

Anyone here using any acai berry products?

Wendy-what was your picture that got booted this a.m.?

Connie-congrats on 2 years. You still have curls? I lost ALL of mine. My hair is back to being stick straight, but I'm not complaining Smile

Blackjack-Hope you are feeling better every day.

berrypatch - Wow you are almost done with chemo, hang in there.

    Hugs to each of you.

Hi Everyone.   Oh Rita....that is a lot of think about.  I had heard as well from my Dr. that alcohol could be a factor ( so many things can ) in your bc and that it needs good consideration  ( I think your Dr. used the selective ) when you wish to do all you can to avoid recurrences.  I don't know that I have had a tumor marker test either.  The V.A. may not consider a need for some of these things and I have always forgotten to ask.  I think I will though ask if they would do the Vitamin D test as there is so much news/studies/reports that seem to indicate we all fall way short.  Especially due to Arimidex I'd like to think I'm covering myself.

I understand about the colds and feeling fear.  I have had more problems ( though to date it has fortunately been mild ) with allergy sensations --- full sinus areas and nose, stuffy sensations, needing to clear my throat a lot  -----  so once you said allergy I thought it made sense.  With the original cold and then getting reinfected before you were well.....all your tissues and sinus cavities are probably still irritated.....sigh !!!!!

I may have to try the acai berry too....I lost interest in the chocolate....couldn't seem to get together with Sonya....took much running around on my part.

Well, I need to run get a couple of things done....my work days ---  easy often while I'm there are mixed up when I come home to the tons of things that didn't get done or that I foolishly left.

    Prayers and hugs to all,

    Jackie

Rita...interesting re: NO weight lifting on your "bad" arm.  I was told by rad onc and surgeon that "moderate" weight lifting was encouraged to help move fluid but to stay at 3-5 lbs, not the 8-10 that I had been doing.  If I wanted to "pump it up" to wear a sleeve/gauntlet.  I stay lite and my arm is fine.  But I do try very hard to never lift anything heavy with the left...even switched to  smaller milks and laundry det. bottles.  Did he mean only VERY occasional alcohol consumption...like, 2-3 x a year???  I have about 2-3 glasses of wine per week, usually less.  No one ever told me to stop that and I have been honest about it...in fact I was told red wine and to limit it like I have been.  I give up!!!

Mich101....I don't get tumor markers either, nor a vit D level.  I go for my heel screening for osteo. tomorrow...onc doesn't do bone density tests until the 2yr mark.  As to photobucket knocking off that picture...I GOT IT FROM THEM!!!!!  They are doing such strange things these days...I give up!  It was a very funny cartoon...not a bloomin thing wrong with it!  I will try and email it to you guys.  Jeesh......

    Laura...hope you are feeling better.....

Thank you for all the kind words, ladies.

Thankfully, my chest pain has gotten better, and I do think it's a weird bit of chest congestion that seems to be breaking up a little - at least I started coughing today.

Laura - You just hang in there and remember that there are plenty of other and more likely reasons for that chest pain! I know it's impossible not to be scared poopless about all this stuff, but you are handling this as you should and getting it looking into.

*BIG HUGS* and a large glass of good wine...

    VENT AWAY!  Please.

Little C - Thanks for the information about that test.  I'm going to look into it.

What is really scary, Rita, is how resistent that virus was that we all had.  My DH and I both were on two antibiotics.  He is just  getting over the cough and we were sick with it December!  I think some strains are getting more severe and that is frightening.  I need to get rid of the weight and get off the wine as I too love wine.  Mixed drinks and beer doing nothing for me, but I love my wine.  So I am starting to think about the weight and the wine.  I actually awoke this morning and I was hating myself for  all the the licorice  (sugar)I ate last night. So I decided that hating myself was self-destructive so....I am all about making some changes in my life so I respect myself more Embarassed.  I was always a thin person until middle age and I have put on so much weight.  So this is going be tough.  I gave up cigarettes 30 years ago and that was tough.  So here we go!

    tumor markers

My oncologist never mentions it but I see he does it every 6 months, breast cancer tumor marker is CA 27 29 I believe (name).

I've been getting the CA 125 for ovarian cancer for nearly 10 years now...every women should get at least a baseline, and if there is family history, get it every year. They are very inexpensive now.

Possibly tumor marker is not the right name for the CA 125... not sure but it's the same category in my book

    Ear lymph node

Did you know we have lymph nodes in our ears? I went to the dermatologist today for ear problems for months...found a lump yesterday, tiny, like a small bead on a ceiling fan chain, middle part of the ear by the face, if you all want to make yours sore like Wendy's sternum..smile.... the other ear did not have this "lump"

dermatologist and mohs surgeon: ... "doesnt' look good" "it is very hard"...

were _not_ the words I wanted to hear! Have to get biopsy and she advised getting it cut out. I have been having itchy ears, thought it was a bug flying in there months ago...I know in November I asked my dog's holistic chiropractor....to look at it.... last week it swelled up and started hurting even in my mouth..two days ago it woke me up and I took tylenol for lack of knowledge where my aleve or advil was....then yesterday the lump put me over the top...

    Kater

PS, I had not drank alcohol since 2001 so I doubt a little wine affects recurrence. I think it's the whole picture....what you are fighting with stress plus what you eat that is good for you...plus how you react to stress and your surroundings blah blah blah.

I have been vitamixing mostly because it makes me feel like i'm at least trying to be around for my pets (since I havent finished my "pet trust" i'm researching, yet!)

Morning!  Glad some of you liked my little joke that photobucket removed.  Trust me...some of the stuff that they allow, I would NEVER send to ANYONE!  I just can't imagine what someone thought was offensive about it.  Oh well....I did think it was funny!  Funniest thing is...it is still there on their website, waiting to be seen and copied and shared.  I did email them but I really don't expect to hear back anytime soon.

Kater...I replied to your emails.  For those of you that don't know, Kater and I have the same onc and I DON'T get , nor have I ever, gotten tumor markers drawn.  I think Dr Bayer is like most oncs...negative nodes, no tumor markers.  This is another test that can cause false positives..which of course means more test, yada, yada, yada.  I will ask him in August tho...again.  Just in case things have changed.  I agree too re: everything in moderation.  I will most probably continue my 2-3 glasses of wine per week.  I have stopped everything else and once BBQ season starts I will no longer sip on a glass while dinner cooks every night.  I think that will be OK.  Heck....who know!  Maybe they will find out that WATER causes CA!  OK...I know...I am being silly but...well, you know.  Who the heck knows exactly WHY we got this disease????

    Rene23...glad you are doing better!

Rita....shame on you!  You never told us how worried you were....and isn't that what we are all here for?  Just like "Mom", aren't you?  Didn't want to worry all her "kids"!  Glad you are OK!!!

Well....I see I am running a bit late...need to be at Delnor soon and I need 2 clean feet!  Here's hoping that so far, arimidex is not being too hard on my bones.  I am thinking that at least....this should have been done prior to starting an AI...but well...I figured the onc would have ordered it if he thought it was necessary.  OH well...it is what it is!

Have a great Friday everyone!  Hugs!

    Morning all!

Thinking of you Laura and hoping that the anti-inflams do the trick.

Sorry you were so worried about lung mets, Rita, but glad that all is ok.  Your drs advice seems like the norm of what we hear these days - exercise, lose weight, eat sensibly and no alcohol.  I rarely have alcohol - just the occasional work outing.  I don't really enjoy the taste and I had my "fun" in college.  I do need to lose a few pounds.  I'm very depressed that I gained back the 15 lbs I lost during chemo.  If I had to go through that I should have been able to keep the pounds off!!  I do not get a tumor marker test either as far as I know.

My son is currently going through a horrible cough.  He has allergies and mild asthma so he is prone to coughing.  Dr. gave him an antibiotic on Monday in case it was a sinus infection but it has done nothing so far.  He wants to stop taking it as it is giving him horrible diarrhea, but I am forcing him to complete the course.   Maybe it is what all of you have had.

Kater - when is your biopsy?  My sister just had MOHS surgery for a spot on her face.

I hope everyone has a great day and weekend!

Laura, I'm so hoping for the meds to work! Hang in there, girl, thinking of you.

Rita...I sure am glad your onc helped ease your fears. Some sinus infections are tough to kick, and we need longer term of anibiotics than docs are used to prescribing. That's why we use the terms acute or chronic when describing sinus infections. ENT docs sometimes order CT scans to get the diagnosis, and sometimes pulmonologists are useful if cough is not getting better. It can be complicated to treat.

Kater, I answered your email. When is your bx being done? Thinking good thoughts for you.

Have to make a few phone calls about the leaking roof!

    Hey Connie,

I just saw your post about your son' and the diarrhea. that can sometimes be a serious se of some antibiotics, and the doctor may want to know about it. It could be a reason to stop it, because it might be affecting the normal bowel bacteria that we all have. Just a thought, but I have seen it happen.

That lymphedema issue is always there, and I always try to remember insect repellent on that arm. In addition to about a ten pound limit of weight lifting, i know that one mosquito bite, or bee sting can trigger LE, so though I used to shun all chemicals, I now spray my arm before going out. The season is almost here, so it's time for me to get a new supply. My surgeon, med onc, and rads onc all agree that lifting about ten pounds is only a slight risk. They feel that most of us have to do that just in our daily lives, so it isn't realistic to ask us to stop. I don't get any tumor markers drawn, but I do have a serum LD. My onc likes it, and feels it is a good measure of general health. It would be elevated if there was an advance of a solid tumor, like bc, but also is elevated in many other conditions. In other words, not specific for cancer. Tumor markers are not recommended in the guidelines for follow up, and are more frequently used to monitor a recurrence. Some docs like them, and some don't so much, because I gather that they are not reliable for every person. My surgeon ordered them with my pre-op bloodwork, and they were slightly elevated. Never repeated them since, but it might be interesting. I for one am not giving up my glass of wine. I only have about one per week, except when out of town like recently....then once per day! I know alcoholics without bc, so I'm not going to worry! I guess if I wanted to lose weight I would factor in the calories, because it is so easy to drink calories without realizing it. I know that fat cells produce estrogen, but I have very over weight people in my family, and I am the only one with bc. Go figure, huh? My Mom was never overweight for one day, but both of her sisters were, and only my mom had bc. Of course she had hormone receptors, and I don't, but I don't know any answers about prevention. I think everything Rita's doctor said is good for our health anyway, and I will subscribe to it for the most part.

Carolberry, aren't you almost finished? Yeah! I know that can't wait feeling!

Blackjack, I hope you are improving. Florida is coming up soon, and you will be ready.

Renee, glad you are doing better. What a beautiful daughter you have!

I really enjoyed the Flower Show, and ran into Susan twice! I can recommend Riva's restaurant, but otherwise I think the pier is full of fast food.

Wendy, good luck with your osteo test. I'm surprised your doc didn't order a dexa if you wanted it. My gyn had done two on me before my bc dx, and my onc wanted one soon after chemo. I lost a lot of bone during chemo, but I am not yet osteopenic. Some docs do them as you go through menopause, because we all lose bone then, and that's why my gyn was ordering the dexas. She wanted to monitor the loss. Another fun aging thing! My Mom always told me that getting old is not for sissies, and I'm beginning to get what she meant. Sheesh!

Roofer is coming for an estimate. It is always something with this old house. See you later!

Smerf....thank goodness, a voice of reason.  Now where is that corkscrew......

I never actually asked for a DEXA...I figured with my lifestyle I was fine and my onc didn't order a baseline as I was 54 at the time.  My heel scan, tho not the best test, showed a -0.9 so while I am approaching the higher limit of beginning osteopenia, I am still OK while being on arimidex for 1.6 years.  I faxed it over to the onc and if he wants me to do the scan before the 2 year point that's fine with me...BUT....on my own I am going to boost my dietary calcium a bit.  Actually went out and bought Total cereal...has 1000 of calcium in it, without the milk.  Not the best tasting tho.  Not too worried about this for today....but really don't want to take the pills IF I don't have to....

    A new roof?  Yikes...never ends.

Wendy, I replaced part of the roof last year, and frankly I'd rather do it before the ceiling needs repair too! Last year they told me the rest was in good shape, but now I have a big spot on the kitchen ceiling. Oh well, it needed painting anyway.  We've lived in this house for 33 years, so this is not the first roof I've done. See, I really am old! My house is older than you, LOL.

I'm glad you had good news with your heel scan. Are you not on calcium tablets now? I thought all docs want us on them starting with premenopause. Actually, they will learn from us if calcium intake helps or not, because no one really knows for sure. One thing is for sure, and that is estrogen protects our bones, so much so that I know one woman who is on replacement therapy in spite of having had bc. Her osteoporosis is that severe. I don't think I'd do that, even with my triple neg status, but apparently some do. My gyn ordered my first dexa when I was around 52, just to get a baseline. I had skipped a period for a few months, and we weren't sure if they were over yet, but knew I was close to being finished. She said we all have rapid loss about that time, so wanted to get a baseline, and then check every 2 or 3 years. I had one more, and then bc so the onc has taken it over. She wanted one shortly after chemo, even though I'm not on any meds now. I was surprised at how much bone I had lost, but oh well, that should be my biggest problem.

We were talking about vitamin D awhile ago, and I forgot to tell you that I've been taking tablets for years. So, I was surprised when one of my docs ordered my levels taken, and I was on the lowest limit of normal. She said,"you're taking tablets, not gel caps, right?" Right, I said, because I was too frugal to waste them even though three months before this doc told me to take the gel caps. Thought I'd use up the tablets first, and then buy new caps. Guess what, my levels stayed low until I switched. Vitamin D is fat soluble, and so the pill form does not absorb very well. It does help if you take it with something fatty, but still not as good as the gel caps. In the beginning I was concerned about too much D, which theoretically can happen, but I now see how difficult that would be. I wasted four months trying to increase my levels with pills. Now after more than a year, I'm in the middle of normal range. I'm taking 2000u/ day, and more with my Citracal and multivitamins. She also has me on 2000u of fish oil with omega 3, 6, and 9, and borage oil. Claritin every day for allergies, instead of prn as before. I can't say for sure what this is doing for me {her plan is to "tweak" my immune system,} but this food poisoning is the first time I've been sick at all since I finished bc tx. No colds, and no sinus infections, which had been chronic for years.

I'll join you anytime for a nice glass of wine. Come on over, I've got the corkscrew!

Hi Girls... checking in... hope you're all having a nice Friday. Hey it's Friday the 13th AGAIN... I think we had one in Feb too!

CarolB - How are you feeling? Hang in there...

I pressed on the Sternum "spot" and it's still very painful. I'm hoping that by Sunday, having been on anti-inflams for 5 days at that point, the pain may be less. Oh well...

Boredom is setting in... I will have to start a new project...hope you all have some nice things planned for this weekend. Will check back later...

I was a good girl tonight...no Friday night glass of wine.  I had instead a WeightWatcher ice cream bar.  Not really the same, ya know!

    Laura....STOP POKING!!!!!!

Now...back to Harry Potter (yes....I did get talked into reading these silly books and I am ENTHRALLED and up to #6)

Wendy, I never did read the Harry Potter series.

We went for Mexican food tonight and I must admit, I had a giant frozen margarita!  That's my quota for a few days!  Now I'm going to have to walk especially fast tomorrow morning to work it off!

I hope everyone has a great weekend planned.  We really don't have much of anything planned and that seems sorta nice for a change.

    I'll be back tomorrow.

    Hi Illinois Gals,

I am coming into town from March 23 until April 14th.  Anybody getting together during that time?

I have not been posting here a lot.  I have posted some on the alternative forum, but those ladies are an awfully rough bunch, and there is not much bonding like on this thread.  This is much better!

Have a great day all of you.

Morning!  I sure do wish we were all on this beach, having a picnic.....Not drinking alcohol, taking Vit D GEL caps, drinking cod liver oil smoothies, watching Laura poking her sternum and Kater with her finger in her ear.  We are quite the bunch!

Sharon....OF COURSE we will have lunch!  Calling Blackjack.......need a date!  And yes, Sharon...you stay right here.  We are a FUN group.

Connie....how's DS?  I'm with Smerf on the diarrhea....there are so many meds he could take that wouldn't be so harsh.  Just tell the doc and he'll try another one, and make sure he puts it in his chart re: the se's.

Rita...SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!  Drinking the margarita!!!!! (where was mine?)  My nephew's MIL sent the whole Harry Potter series to her grandchildren and they both are still much too young for these books so their Mom read them and she was hooked from the first book.  So she gave them all to me to read.  Now...I just smiled and said "gee...thanks" and put them in a corner where they sat for about 6 months.  One day a few weeks ago I just opened the box while dusting and took out the first book....and started reading.  I never moved for 4 hours.  I loved it.  I just finished #6 last night....and #7 isn't in the box as she wasn't finished with it at that time.  Well....I almost called them last night at 7:30!  They are really great books!

    Laura....how's the pain? (stop poking)

Smerf....I've read so much re: Calcium citrate and calcium carbonate and I am still a bit confused as to what is better.  So was the nurse I talked to yesterday at Delnor as we pored over the literature...only thing we agreed on was that ca from oyster cells was NOT a good idea.  So...you chose Citracal....may I ask why you decided?  I've got another week of mine and then I might switch to yours as you are doing so well!  Going today to Walgreens to look for your other 2 suggestions.

Juliet....how goes the job search?  Did you start your dog-training?

Little C...lt sure was nice to see a post from you!

Everybody else....hope you are doing well.  Going to be a nice sunny day...a bit cool but NO rain, NO snow!  Hugs everyone!

Good morning Undecided everyone.  A bit on the chilly side right now and NO SUNbut I guess I will do ok.  As I have often said " it's amazing what you can do when you have no choice ".  Wendy you probably have it all written down somewhere.....but I am always impressed at what you remember to ask people ---- like Juliet's dog-training.  I think I am also going to check my calcium, D, mag, etc. against Pat's.  The V.A. gives me calcium and Vit D.  It could ( the D. ) come close as I saw a difference in some of my medications once they started providing them.  Biggest thing is....they were 'older' meds and frankly seemed to do a better job them the 'latest' or at least newer meds that my former PCP's had prescribed.

That ( which is why I started another line ) here gets into pharmaceutical companies and their representatives.  The only thing I think in this respect is.....if it ain't broke, don't fix it.  None of my Dr.s ever tried any of the older medications and for the most part I can't say I look back and see a problem---yet, I have always wondered about my stroke.  My blood pressure was ( even medicated ) a bit elevated.  Always bothered me a bit, but nothing was ever done.  Then a couple years ago I stumbled on some info that said......even a slight elevation was bad and carried risks. That would not have have meant much except for the fact that when the V.A. changed my blood pressure meds to older meds......my blood pressure has been normal ever since and they are always pleased.

I had decided myself to only have an occasional glass of wine....or maybe beer already as the V.A. oncologist was fairly adamant that it wasn't a good thing.  Well....in the amts. I used.....several glasses of wine with a friend once or twice a week.    Anyway, enough of that...but anyone with blood pressure issues don't totally freak.....I think I only got into trouble when my HRT got thrown in that mix and I will always believe the stroke came from the mixture and was a result of how my body chemistry treated all of it......still, I would take to heart that if your meds don't bring your pressure down where it should be......then you might want to address that.

Ok, that is my boring contribution for the day.  Dh is working both days this week-end so nothing much on my schedule.  Sears/Mt. Vernon will be getting another new store manager.  This will be about the 4th. one since Dh has been working there.  Hope that goes well.  So far it has been fine....but you never know.

Wendy....even I might come out of the woods if I could park my dierrier' on that beach.  And I would celebrate with a Margarita too....you bet.

    See ya'll later.

    Prayers and hugs,

    Jackie

    Hi:

I just read that a frozen margarita is a cancer cure! Only hitch is that you have to drink the extra large size. Sorry, I am only kidding. I did not read that. I wish I had.  Rita, it would be a sin to go to a Mexican restaurant and not have a margarita.

Last night DH and I babysat the two kids for a very short time. It was a riot. Paul cared for Lila and I played with Adeline. It was hectic but fun with our one on one with two under two!

Sharon, I understand what you are saying. This is a safe place. I feel safe here and I think that our bottom line intent is to be supportive and kind to each other. I find that I need to focus only on one or two forums or I spend way too much time getting too involved in other people's lives. That is not a bad thing, yet I feel I need to be careful or I waste time not living my own life. I do read "The Older Woman's" and I love it. I do not post there as I forget what I have already said here and do not want to copy and past to another forum. We are lucky to have this place.

Preparing for a b-day party for tomorrow! The b-day girl loves sweet potatoes and so I am making a sweet potato casserole. It called for BRANDY EXTRACT and I went to five stores and couldn't find it. So I bought an "airplane size" bottle of the real stuff and will see how it works! I think we are not suppose to eat sweet potatoes as it encourages estrogen. is that right? I will try it anyway, as I am just curious about what I am not suppose to eat. Smile

Happy Sunny Saturday to everyone.  Just popping in quickly to say hi & wow, there's a lot to read.  I may have to do it in two shifts, lol.

It's going to be GORGEOUS out for the next few days.. yahooo!!!   Cool

I decided against the dog training classes at this point -but may pursue it later on.  I have an interview on Wednesday at a weight loss center (to be a consultant). Passed the phone interview, so I guess it is promising.  Not sure how I feel about the schedule though.. we shall see what it's all about.  So very different from my past 20 year career, lol.       Also applying for some other gigs as well.     So weird after not working for almost 2 years.

DH & I are going to get out for an inexpensive dinner this evening, that will be nice :)

I'll post again (prob. tomorrow) once I can catch up on everyone's stuff.

    Hugs, Juliet

Hi there... checking in... yahoo - how about this weather! Soooooooooooo nice...

dh and I took the GTO for a long ride this afternoon... he drives "there" - I drive back. He wants us to break in this new engine... before we race it - the track opens in two weeks! woo-hoo!

Tomorrow, I'll try to get some outdoor work done. Man does it need it.

Question: As most know... I didn't have reconstruction. Ever since my Masts though, I have this pocket of fat/tissue under each armpit. I have to wear a very figure fitting shirt to to the health club to hold my prosths steady. But the tightness of the shirt makes these fat pockets look even worse. I like to wear sleeveless shirts because it gets really hot at my "Y". And they're very noticeable in a bathing suit. Since this happened as a result of the Masts (and node removal), do you think Insurance would pay to have them removed or liposuctioned? I don't think I've EVER seen a post or thread about something like this. Have any of you?

Hope you all have a nice evening...

Hi gals!  What a lovely day!

Oh Susan, I got so excited when I read your first sentece about Margaritas curing cancer.  Then just like always, I read on and the true reality hit!  LOL  You, my dear, are on the countdown now!  It won't be long and you will have free days just waiting for you to fill them up with things that you WANT to do!  Yea!

Dave, I, and my neighbor have decided to bowl on a Wednesday night summer bowling league.  It's the AMF Breast Cancer Awareness League and a percentage of your fees goes to Susan G. Komen.  The teams consist of 3 people so it should be fun.

Hey Juliet, I bet Buster doesn't even mind going outside now, does he?  Maybe spring IS on the way.   You may find out that you enjoy a change of careers.  Now is the time to scope them all out and try different things.

Well, I'm going to head for my recliner and watch the IHSA small school March Madness Basketball finals.  Dave has gone to an organizational mens' golf league meeting and dinner and Lewistown...the school where I taught for 33 years.....is playing for third place tonight.  I didn't have the students that are playing as my last class woud now be in college, but I've had many of the parents of these kids and it's amazing how much some of them look like their parents when their parents were this age.  It's fun!

    Catch you later.

Susan is bringing that good old wine...maybe a few nachos and let the party begin. lol lol

I am getting sooo ready to hit the beach for spring break...just hoping it is really warm down there. I am so tired of sitting around and trying to stay healthy that I am getting a little stir crazy.

I hope you all tried to get outside today and enjoy this nice weather. I think spring is almost here.

Sharon I will have a lunch bunch in early April when you are here. TBA Glad to see you will be home soon. Are you feeling better post surgery.

Juliet..did you connect with Ill Nancy for a job.

Susan..playing with babies is soo much fun and exhausting but so rewarding. The unconditional love they give back is priceless.

Laura..glad to see that you got your groove back and the goat is ready to race. Maybe you need to wear that racing art bra !!! lol  Is it done yet.

Jackie....time for deck furniture and some grilling. what time should I come over for dinner. yum

Has anyone see the musical play Jersey Boys downtown? I am going Sunday to see it..I hope it will be good. I love musical plays..so I hope my dh will like it as I am taking him on a musical play date lol  Plays are not really his thing. I took him to see LeMiseral and he fell asleep during the play and started to snore of all things. That was not good. lol So I hope he stays awake for this or else !! lol

Morning!  This graphic is courtesy of one of our old friends, Nicki/Chemosabi.  Please check out the mets/recurr. thread and look for her post.  She is no longer able to respond on these boards, but you will find a link to her blog on another bc site.  Please reach out to her if you can.  I have....and her blog says it all.  It is at times like these that we need to let go of what has gone before and open our hearts and our arms to one who needs us so much.  JMHO.

Blackjack....your DH's response to LesM is exactly why I don't take Tom to plays.  He would be asleep in 10 minutes.  ALTHO.....I turned on an old movie Friday nite "Mildred Pierce" and he stayed awake all the way to 11pm!  He LOVED it.  Go figure.

Laura...good for you!  How is the new engine?  And yes...I think you should wear that racing bra!  In regards to your little fat thingies....I'm no expert but isn't that where the surgeons leave extra "stuff", in case you want recon?  Have you made up your mind 100% that you do NOT want recon?  If so...I think this would still be covered under Illinois law re: recon following mastectomy so ins. should not be a problem.

Susan....my Jewel carries the brandy extract.  If you need it, I can send you a bottle.  Just let me know.  And why can't we eat sweet potatos?  Jeesh...ANOTHER no-no.  Aren't there any yes-yes's?????

The weather sure has been improving.....58 out here today....68 by Tuesday!  Yay!!!!  I will def. have to check out the motor for the convertible top.  Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

Good sunnyCoolmorning to ya !!!!   Okay.....now I want to know or should we start it...where is the list of  THINGS THEY NEVER TELL YOU.  I love sweet potatoes and they are supposed to be so good for you.  I am extremely reluctant to give them up.  In truth....I don't eat them  very much and when I do....they don't come from a can so----Susanlets have a dish of southern sweet potatoes....you know the kind with the praline topping.....and a Margarita to wash them down.  Jeesh !!!

Bj, sure enjoyed your post.  You have been so busy getting well and it's nice to hear you anticipate the spring warmth and the beach  ---  not that you didn't, but now il is so much closer to the reality of the event.  Hurry, hurry spring.

I am going to go and try and find Nicki's post.
All stay well and I'm sure I'll be checking in later.

Prayers and hugs to all....Juliet, Little C, Jan, Carolberry, Karin, Renee, Hope4cure, and all who don't post daily......
