Mich - Hon... I am circling you with love and support! Odds are...all is fine. I wish you could join us on Saturday... I would love to see you! Please keep us posted.

Donna - One of my ALL TIME FAVORITE photos is the one of us with fist up in MX! We had such a great time... I felt as though I was on top of the world... felt as though I was going to live forever. After that trip ended... I did have a bout of post traumatic stress syndrome... but it was short lived and what helped... was looking back at the photos of that trip.

    ------------------------------

Well girls... I survived my Onc appt! He is such a doll! He is so delicate and caring. It's difficult to expose my battered chest - having had bi-lat Mastectomies... but I don't fret with him. He is a gentle giant and I just love him. I ended up agreeing to blood tests - he explained that Liver tests while on Tamoxifen are important... ALL came back fine - within the normal range. I don't have to go back for another 6 months. Whew...

While in the room where blood is taken, I talked to a woman in a wheelchair. It was obvious she was going through chemo... me - being me - spoke to her about my dx and asked her about hers. She said she was go glad I had both breasts removed because her daughter had a lumpectomy and then had 2 recoerrences and later died from bc. I told her things have changed since then and lumpectomies are done differently now. She welled up with tears... I bent down and hugged her and told her to be strong and to live by the memories of her daughter - not of her death. It was a surreal experience... yikes... we need a cure!

    I need prayers.

I try to move to Lake County, it can be closer to my Cancer Center in Highland Park. This county has now open housing list. Plus maybe I can see my daughter, she lives very close from my Cancer Center. I just feel, I can't be any more alone. I was Dx with stage III in 2004, with stage IV in 2007. 5 years with cancer and alone just too much.

Mich, I too would love to see you on Saturday.  Last time was Long Grove.

I have 48 hours to improve.  I have a terrible head cold.  YUCK!  I really think it will be gone by Saturday.

Irena, you go to my doctor.  Maybe his social worker nurse can give you the name of a social worker in the county to help you find a place.

    Cozy day today!

Morning! Is there something wrong here? I never get the little line up above my typing so I can post pics! Well...laundry is done, lawn in mowed, hair is cut (very short! and I love it!!!!) and colored, house cleaned, grocery store visited, gym returned to. When's vacation?????

Budders....now, I did have that year of Herceptin but at my last Herceptin my onc aked me if I had my surgeon's # with me and he said good, go ahead and call and get that sucker out! I called as I sat in the infusion chair and called and made an appt for port removal. BTW, it was taken out in a physician tx room at the hospital, took all of 10 minutes under local and I drove myself. A no-brainer. My onc goes according to your dx if he recommends keeping the port for a year - however almost 90-95% get theirs out. He also does not start AI's or Tam until after radiation as that's the way my rad onc wants it. I hated my port...it hurt and pulled everyday.

Irina - I wished I had a solution for you. I will just hope and pray that you get a solution soon.

Susan....so sorry you are still under the weather! How about 4-5 hot toddies? You will still have your cold, you just won't care anymore! :)

Laura....glad your onc visit went well! Yay...another 6 months!!!!!

Jackie....if you are bored, my SUV could use a wash!

Blackjack....where you at? No cabana boys this year!

Mich101.....so sorry you are now waiting on test results...again. Hopefully upper range of normal is what it was during Herceptin, or it is just because you had Herceptin and just something to keep an eyeball on. Did you get away this summer? When do the boys go away???

Donna....well, at least I don't have 3 dogs with ....ahem....bathroom issues! You need a "poop fairy"!

Time to move the sprinkler....have a wonderful Thursday everyone. I will post a few pics from Fl as soon as this website lets me!

Buddy - Monticello is only about 20 miles from my house.  It is a beautiful town.  I has lots of old mansions from the 1800's.  There used to be more millionaires per capita in that town than any town in illinois, but that was a while back.

I have finished day 4 of my rads and everything seems to be going ok.  Saw my onc this week and he proceeded to tell me the pain in my legs cound not possibly be from chemo or herceptin, and I wanted to laugh in his face.  I told him they started after I started chemo and are still around, what else could they be.  He decided to send me to see pain management, who told me it is probably the nerves that were damaged by the taxol still being irritated.  Herceptin my be contributing.  I did not have my herceptin  this week .  We are waiting 3 weeks for my next one and see if that helps.  They gave me gabapentin at pain management I took it for 2 days and had swelling start in my feet and legs, so they had me stop.  I go back to them the day after my next herceptin , so we should know something then.  I see the pulmonary doc next Tuesday so maybe I will know something more about the nodule on my lung after that, but I suspect he will have to run some tests.  My desk was piled high at work from being gone last week,  I Have worked full time this week except for dr appts and rads.  I think I may catch up tomorrow or Monday.  It has been a week full of surprises.  Who knows whats next.  Hugs to all.  Annette

Well, got my results and the echo looks ok however onc. wants me to still see a cardiologist. Says my function is in the lower limits of normal, there's subtle abnormalities, and the heart wall motion is in question.  Once again, I don't understand what this all means, so I will wait until I see a cardiol.  Maybe it's how I've always been. So, thanks everyone for your prayers and kind thoughts.

No Wendy, we never went on vacay this summer :(  I have been very time consumed helping my aunt. She really has no one else.  I REALLY need a vacation though. Now thinking about Thanksgiving week get away!?!  The boys will leave for college 3 weeks from today. I'm really excited for them.

Irina-my positive thoughts are being sent your way. Prayers and hugs to you.

Morning!  52 on my deck with a beautiful sunrise but alas.....no ocean!

Mich101....at least your echo still was in normal range, albeit "just".  And you are right...maybe you have always been this way but it's good that you are checking further into this now, before it gets any worse or you develop symptoms.  Let us know what you find out.

    Susan....how's your cold this am?

    Rita/WendyTY....how's the walking going?

    Jackie....my car is still dirty!

Jo/Christi....how are you guys doing?  Anything we can help with?

Annette....imagine!  Pain from taxol????  Oh no, couldn't be!  Where do these docs get their info?  Of course chemo can and does cause pain/numbness/tingling in our extremities!!!!!  All you have to do is read the drug labels or talk to one of the patients taking these poisons.  Glad you are keeping on top of this issue but sorry the meds didn't work for you.  Fingers crossed that the pain lessens as the days go by!

Glad I sprinkled the lawn yesterday as it never did rain...not too much going on today but tryng to cheer up DH as it is his last day of school vacation.  Don't tell him but I think I might actually miss him on Monday!  Have a great Friday everyone...I will check back later.  Maybe get my butt in gear and load a few snaps from Fl.....

Wendy, it's so nice to have you back and I'm so glad you enjoyed your vacation!  Welcome home!

Michele101, I've been thinking and praying that your problem is just one "easy fix."  It is perfectly  reasonable that your heart has always been this way and they've just found it.  Naturally with our background now, they want to check everything out to be sure it's not related to the cancer, and that's really a good thing.   I remember when I took my son to college on that first day.  I was so excited for him, too, and then it hit me when I left him there and I cried all the way home.  Of course, I was a single Mom and I realized that only the cat and dog would be waiting for me when I got home.  The college was a good fit for him and after my pity party, I recovered and realized what a great opportunity he had.  What college have your boys chosen and are they both going to the same place?

Hang in there Annette with the Herceptin.  You need to discuss the side effects of herceptin with WendyTY.  I think that she has only one more and she is done but she will assure you that there are indeed side effects.  She learned to manage them quite well.   I'm glad the rads are going well for you.

Jackie, thanks for your continued quotes.  Any time I see a quote of any kind, I think of you.

Well, I'm off to tackle another day.  Hugs to all of you!

Oh peejay!  How could I forget to welcome you back????  You can stop in here anytime.  I remember you well and am so glad that you have a new house that you're enjoying and that you're doing well.  It's always fun to share success stories and we all need them.  I'm assuming that you are also doing well with the Tamoxifin, too.  YEA!  Stop back often!

Calling all people with dirty cars....if you can find a way to get em" here, I can find a way to do them....but I have to do Wendy's first----awfully pushy for such a nice girl isn't she????  I'm so glad that I don't work at a car wash for my job because I bet I would have the filthiest car on record.

All is fine here and yes ---  I'm always looking at quotes.  Guess I love them so much because they say what I often can't !!  So glad you still all enjoy them so much.

Weather here was a bit toasty today but all in all we did not have the typical July.  I fear August may be as "bad" as ever but I'll do fine if I'm proved wrong.  The third week-end of the  month is also when we have our annual Balloon Fest and I really enjoy it.  I think I mentioned that un-like many other places we can get up close to the balloons as the pilots launch from around a little pond in our park.....and of course at twilight they do a balloon glow where they light up the balloons on a count and they all reflect in the water of the pond.  It's very pretty to see and watching the balloons is always thrilling to me....but I don't want to go up in one.  I think the claustrophobia would get to me and I would look at it the same way as the small airplanes.....not for me.  A lot of people do "get" rides though.

Thinking about all of you and wanting things to go well whatever your going through right now.

    Hugs

Wendy, thanks for asking about the head cold.  I now feel so silly complaining when ladies are in treatment and feeling far worse.  I am better and I am going to Jan Clare's tomorrow with this absolutely beautiful tart I got from Whole Foods.  If I thought I were contagious, I would not go.

My DH and I are coming up on our 34th wedding anniversary and to celebrate we made plans to to go Spring Green, Wisconsin as they have a wonderful outdoor theater, antique and art galleries, and lovely resorts.  Have any of you been there?

Rita, I am approaching "back to school" issues and I am doing great but I know it will be funny.  I am happy with my choice to retire, but it is different!  I loved your post to Michelle about taking your son to college.  What an event that is! Both our girls went to Ohio for college and I will always remember those trips back to the dorm.  I personally loved college/learning  and so I relished every moment of those trips .  I always went to the book stores and lingered over the required textbooks, just wishing I could do it all over again.  I am wondering if Michelle's twins will go off together to the same school.

So, hope all is well with all the ladies in Illinois.  Wendy, I hope I will see you tomorrow.  If not, let's do it soon!

Good Saturday morning....maybe rain today....closer to early afternoon but I'll have to wait and see.  We have heard this often and did not come.  Dh has a Saturday off so we are going to Benton, Ill to look at a car for Denny's son who lives in S. Dakota.  Eric is quite capable of getting his own cars but is looking for one special kind.......and just so happens there is one in Benton which is close enough for us to go preview for him.

Donna good to hear Lacy pooch was fine.  Our animals do get **sensitive** about losing their rightful place in our life by "allowing" babysitting.  They feel the guest is going to stay.  I had to move two of my dogs outside and now one marks everything in sight if he gets in and I run around with the O-Do-Ban as Baby Boss who stays in all the time cannot be allowed to follow suit.  We long ago ( and I have never missed it ) gave up carpet in the house.  Just too many animals and it is not good to "shampoo" a carpet every 6 months.....and spot cleaning for something like that is not satisfactory to me. I like the hardwood look of our floors and one could always put an area carpet down on them if desired.

No car wash for Wendy today....I looked out ( my office windows face our parking area ) and her car is not here.  I'll just have to do my own I guess.

Susan....you have had such a nice summer and it won't have to end just because something else starts.  What a sense of freedom. I think it is one of those things that just gets better as you pass the points you now can and not have to "pass" on opportunities of enjoyment.

Everyone....you are much in my thoughts and even if I didn't say your name, Mary Jane  and everyone else you are still a VIP in my life.

    Hugs, Jackie

    Hi all,

Just filling you in on my stuff.   I have an appointment with a new PS on the 10th.   The other one just didn't work out.   Hopefully, this one will work out.   I have been through enough already and don't need to have to "deal" with a doctor's ill mood or uncaring spirit or whatever it is.   I have just had enough.   I so hope this one will be the right one.   I really want to be done soon.

Jackie - I really enjoy the balloon fest in Centralia too.   We don't go every year but we do enjoy it when we do.  If you plan to go this year - maybe we will to and we can meet up and visit for a little while.

We have finally found a puppy.   It has been a difficult time and I am still very sad over losing Little Red back in March.   Every time I see a dog that looks like her I just tear up.   The one we got is very sweet and so lovable.  My DD has been begging me to get another dog.   We sure have missed having one around.   She is a female german shepherd.   We have plenty of room for her to run and I am sure she will do great.   It doesn't hurt to have a good watchdog these days too.  That is an added bonus.  We also got a kitten.  Thought - what the heck - might as well get them both when they are young so they can get use to each other.   I think we came up with the name "Sasha" for the puppy and "Pepper" for the kitten.  The name for the kitten fits perfectly I think.  She is a calico mostly white with brown patches and then small darker brown dots.  The darker dots are pretty prominent,  She has a spicy personality too.   The dog's name we are not so sure.  If you have some great suggestion - let me know.  We have ruled the following out:   princess, daisy, maisie, rose, dakota, cheyenne, molly, shelby, lady, hilda, helga, heidi, gretchen.   We wanted something a little different but somewhat sophisticated.   Anyway, we might stick with "Sasha" if we don't find anything better.

Well, it looks like it is going to storm again here.  Just a very odd year for weather.   It rains like every 2 days here.

    Take care!

    Jennifer

Jennifer....my pick for dog names....either Roxie or Nixie.  I had a golden named Nixie, but I like both names.  All my dogs are fellows save for last one which is really a foster dog.  When I took her the lady that brought her said her name was Princess....and  I immediately said I don't think so.  I named her Molly McButter.  She has the coloring of a Rotweiler but is part Beagle and who knows what else so is slim and not too tall.  Right where her tail is....is very light colored hair, the only place on her.....so she instantly became Molly McButter for me because of her yellow hind-end.  Now... that you see what moves me to name dogs you may not want my input anymore.  I also like Tula which for me is short for Tulip.

Speaking of the Balloon Fest....I generally go every year.  I only missed one year I think....the year after my Mom passed away.  She loved the Balloon Fest so much and I just wan't ready to enjoy it without her.  By the following year though I was back.  I have been to 10 of them out of the 11 years we have lived here. Hope we can meet up there.

As always you Illinois girls look stunning.  As well, you always look as though your having a better time than anyone ever has....no matter what you are doing.  So glad for all of you and Jan thanks for getting a picture in so quick.  It always makes the rest of us happy and makes as almost feel as if we were there too....and we sure were in spirit.

Back from Benton and I have to say....wow !!!  What a car.  I would love it myself but I think it is on the small side ( sits a bit low to the ground for me ).  It is a  2003 BMW Z4.  It is a convertible and is Arctic silver with black cloth top and black interior.  One of the prettiest convertibles of that size I've seen for some time.  I did not think it was all that bad a price....$15,500 or best offer.  Very clean car.....the motor does not have a speck of dirt on it either.  Sigh !!!!   I gots to keep my 4-wheel Blazer so I get in and out of these county roads leading to my woods.

    Have a great eveing.

    Hugs,
