Evening everyone. A wonderful day is winding down. Renee....that was truly stunning and I was really biting my lip as I had to go to work immediately after. A little moisture got through but not so much that my make-up was destroyed.
Rita...so glad you got a hold of Buddy and that she is ok. Guess we all go into panic mode when someone is away too long. Here is my sigh of relief ::: SIGH---SIGH---SIGH---SIGHOk, now I feel ever so much better. Our weather is being good to us again....not too cold or hot and predicted rain did not show up. Have had a raccoon coming to lunch most days lately when I feed the cats. Only one cat will stay at the plate when Rocky arrives but he is pleasant and really not pushy --- just hungry and sees a chance to get a meal the easy way and not dig for it or try to find a way into trash containers. Had to laugh.....this last time he had to go over a couple of times and get a drink --- the dry cat food was just getting to him. Anyway....he eats and then leaves and the cats can go back to the plate. I'm sure he comes for a mid-night snack later on as many times when I go the next day the dish is turned upside down.......can't figure that out.
Hope you all had a most wonderful day.
Hugs, Jackie

Jacke, the raccoons tore up my padded lawn furniture last year. I had never had any trouble about leaving it out on the deck and then went out one day to get the deck ready for an evening cookout to find parts of it in shreds. Now I have to take it all out every time I use it and then put it all back...........and of course I had to buy all new which did not match the old umbrella. They also carry off the cats' bowls so I don't think they are so cute anymore! Perhaps southern IL coons are better behaved than those around here! LOL
I hope everyone is doing well today! It looks like a warm, sunny day in Illinois........FINALLY!
Hugs to all of you............

Well dh and I received some bad news yesterday. dh has had numbness in his thumb for about a year now. He had an MRI of his back done... the Dr thought something could be pressing on a nerve - thus affecting his hand. Back then, it showed degenerative disc disease... not uncomon. Last week he went for a f/u MRI - this time it showed Cervical Spinal Stenosis. His is severe. It's a norrowing of the spinal column. As it narrows, it cuts off blood to the rest of the body (?). Yesterday he went for a brain MRI - to rule out MS. Monday morning we will visit his Dr for the results and to talk about possible surgery. It's really good that it has been caught now. If not caught at this stage, it can be even more serious. Can cause bladder and kidney probs as well as the inability to walk. The surgery is quite invasive. He will have a long recovery time and lots of PT. I just hope it all works out. I am so frightened at the thought of surgery of the back. One wrong move and he could be paralyzed. DAMN! We will be researching alternatives. Other than this, he is very healthy... thank goodness! So please keep him in your prayers...
It's always something!----------------------------------------------------------------------
Geesh... time flies... it's Friday already! Have a nice day girls!

Hi girls,
Just a quick post.
Laura - cute new picture. I have some jewelry for you and hope to go to JanClare's on the 1st and bring it to you then. Slight chance my sister will have her little guy's first birthday party that day - I hope not.
Deb (whoops...) I corresponded with you last year - I live in Palos Heights and am also triple negative. I work downtown and if you want to try to meet for lunch one day, let me know, I can cab or walk pretty much anywhere. If I know what the plans are with the other girls, maybe I can just run over and meet everyone--Navy Pier is a little far for me to go for a lunch hour though. Also, my home is not that far from Crown Point, if you want to try for a get together some other time, I have no problem driving for a weekend lunch or shopping or even dinner if you want.
Everyone else, have a great weekend.

Good Morning Friends. Sorry I have not checked in. I guess I have just been celebrateing too much. I had my last chemo on Tues. I have another nasty infection in my arm and my counts were high, So I didnt get nulasta. I am just trying to ehjoy every minute before all of the nasty side effects start kicking in. I have not tryed to catch up on posts. The storms last night were so loud. I hope you all made out ok. I got my second opinion. From what I can tell it looks good. I go to Oncologist to go over it Tues. I got for rad marks Tue also. Things just keep moving along. I sure hope I havent miised too much. I know I have. There is always so much going on here. Thats why I love it so much. They put my on low dose bp. yuck. 1 pill a day instead of 2 and next month he sadi we will break it in half and see how I do. I hate to start that stuff. Love you all Buddy

Morning ( as we wait for possible rain )! Buddy...so glad that things are moving along for you and that you do have your second opinion. Hope the results are better than you seem to expect. It will set your mind at ease, as well as all of ours. You seemed to have had difficulties at every step so I am so glad you are having your last chemo and therefore your last set of se's. Sometimes we are so impatient to it all to be over that it seems the last se's hang on just a bit but yipee......this is the last time you will have to deal with this part. On to the rads. They are far easier for everyone....really just tiresome to have to go daily but if you use your cream faithfully you should have it be more boring than anything else.
JO: We know exactly what you are saying. Your body will tell you what it needs to do ( sleep ) for a long period to get over the se's and then often relax a lot when you have slept all you can. Also....I could count on the change my body would make from feeling life was pretty much un-rewarding and hard to 24 hours or slightly less later......hey, I'm hungry, let me get dressed, talk on the computer to all my friends and stir up some tuna fish for lunch. Had eaten much in the last five days....and what did I want --- tuna fish full of mercury. Well, the minute I started to crave food I knew the worst was over and my cells were interested in living and regenerating again. Take it easy....we are thinking and caring about you and sending hugs and healing thoughts.
Laura....that is sad news about your hubby. I hope whatever the fix is that it goes well. Glad too ( you are so right about that ) that it was caught early. Anything early is almost always bound to go easier than if lots of damage accrues beforehand making all sorts of weird complications one then has to figure out and deal with along the way. My hopes and prayers for him.
Hi to everyone else. Hope you all have a great day.
Hugs, Jackie

Laura, you are such a go-getter. Rallying after hearing news about your husband. I will be at the south of the ferris wheel at (did you say 12 noon)?
Whoops, I will be there.
Good to hear from you Buddy. These "dog days" will pass. Jo, same for you. I had chemo winter and frankly, that may have been easier.
Off to a wedding today! My daughter is in the wedding party and it is a lovely day.
JanClare, I need to babysit the grandchildren at 4 in Evanston, but I can some by for a bit. Thank you for doing this!

Hey Everyone,....Just a quick update. Been doing good through these last 2 weeks of chemo. I will be chemo free for a week starting Sunday til next Sunday....YAH!!! Been pretty busy. As of now we are moving on Aug.6 to Lexington, SC...I hope we sell the house by then but if not I guess we will have to pay a mortgage and apartment rent. It's gonna be close but we will make it...I hope...
Anyways, I want to get the boys settled there before school starts. My daughter needs to get a job so hopefully, she will get one fast down there. Noone is hiring her here.. If we don't get any offers by Monday we are going to go with a realtor on Tuesday. My brother in law ans his wife are coming from Lexington, SC on the 1st to help us pack and move down there. I was suprised that they offered but it sure will help.
Anyways, that is about it for now. Lots to do and no time to do it...

Ginny -- you sound way too busy to be reading on the Internet but if you do know that I am thinking about you and praying all goes well. A thought for you.....if after a while the house is not selling you might consider ( a little touchy ) renting it out. Then it could produce income. There are often real estate companies that manage property for home owners. This has some drawbacks but could help for a bit on the financial end of things.
So glad you are having some help.....any kind of move is a frustrating, tiring ordeal and you need your strength.
Juliet....everyone is going to miss you but birthdays...ya gotta do em'.!!! There will be other LB's.
Nice here today. One small very brief shower yesterday and gone. Enough to make it a bit humid. No special plans today.....Just relax and do what comes or appeals. Hope you all have a really nice Sunday.
Hugs, Jackie

Hi gals!
I know I don't have to tell those of you who are meeting at Navy Pier tomorrow to have fun! LOL Wish I could join you but it just doesn't work again this time. I really don't know where the summer has gone. It doesn't really seem like we've had "summer."
It's good to hear that those of you in treatments are doing well and surging onward. It won't be long and they'll be behind you. Buddy, thanks for checking in! You've about got this licked now!
Well, we planted some new plants yesterday and I need to get out there and water them so I guess I'd better get moving.
Hugs to all of you.

GoodMorning Girls. It looks like its going to be a beautiful day. I was able to skip the Nulasta this time. I have very little bone pain. I hope you all have a good time at lunch. Enjoy the day. Love Buddy

Good morning all! I'm looking forward to a wonderful lunch today with the girls at Navy Pier!
Buddy, good to hear that the bone pain is better.
Ginny- so glad that you get that break from chemo. And it sounds like you have a wonderful family suport system down there in SC. I hope the move goes well.
I've been having a lot of truncal swelling lately and yesterday my upper arm was also very heavy, so I wore my sleeve all day. It's much better today, but I'm still debating if I should wear the sleeve to lunch. What stops me is that it's supposed to be hotter- that sleeve can be very uncomfortable. *sigh*
Lots to do before Laura picks me up- so waves to everyone and hugs to our sisters in treatment.

Goor morning girls! I am looking forward to picking up JanC and heading downtown to meet whoopsie and Susan! Navy Pier - at this time of the year is sooooooooooooo nice!
dh and I just returned home from our 1st ortho surgeon opinion. The news is NOT good... he has severe narrowing in the C5,6 & 7 area. The Dr. showed us the MRI films on his computer. The narrowing is very obvious - even to my and dh's untrained eyes. This Dr. is head of back and neck surgery at a hospital close to us. He said he's done alot of this type of surgeries. He specializes in back and neck. He seemed thorough and didn't rush us. Since it is already at two levels, he doesn't think alternative treatment would help. He suggested that we do get another opinion. dh will need a bone transplant - taken from his hip. This Dr. does not use any metal or plates. His recommends surgery ASAP... and in the meantime, no sports or heavy lifting.
Our next step will be Northwestern for another opinion.

Have a nice day! Those in treatment... hope you're feeling okay! Hang in there!

Good Morning Girls!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy, happy... We sold our house yesterday. She is a teacher and teaches at the school that is in front of our subdivision. She has 2 kids that are going into K and 3rd grade. Right now where they live they can't be gauranteed to stay at the same school. They want to move in before school starts which works out great since we want to get down to sc before school starts. And wouldn't you know they both start on the 19th of August. I still will have my brother/sister in-law coming to help along with my husbands other brother and sister from Michigan. It should all go good. Only downside is I have to make sure I don't do too much.
You girls have a good time at the Navy Pier!!! One of my favorite places to go...
Off to get things done.....
Ginny
