Happy Birthday, Blackjack. I wish I could send something more colorful and creative.  But I cannot.  SO HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ONE OF THE LOVELIEST LADIES I KNOW!

Took today off for the Memorial.  School and its routine is the greatest escape hatch in the world.  Now I know why I took a total of 13 days off for cancer (surgery and chemo).  I wasn't brave and strong.   On the contrary I needed distractions.  Which might explain, Rita, why we like Jungle Jewels.  I do it after school to unwind.

Happy thoughts to all.  I hope all are feeling well.

Happy birthday, Blackjack!  I so admire your energy and enthusiasm and really, really apprecitate that you come back to this thread and offer support for everyone, especially those going through treatments. Have a beautiful day and have fun with your family's surprise dinner.  You will have to give us an update.

Well, it is a bit hard for me to live with these post-exchange restrictions... mostly because I am feeling great and have absolutely no pain anymore.  My DH is flying out on a trip tonight so I won't have him reminding me what NOT to do.  We went to the health club together yesterday and he kept his eye on me... had to stick to lower body conditioning.  I see my PS on Monday.

Lisa... hope that last chemo is not affecting you too bad.  Hang in there.... on your way back UP.

Hi girls....Ooohhh my what can I say.... but Thank You for all the wonderful birthday wishes, yummy cakes and best of all the slot machine!!!. Yes, I will be in Las Vegas in June for a girls trip. Girls just wanna have fun. Yup that's what I will be doing. I have to say that I am so back to my old self again and living life. Having this disease has made me realize that life is really to short to not go out and have fun. Each and everyone of you here are very dear to my heart and I thank you all for your friendship, love and support.

On a sad note, I don't know if anyone of you remember Erin the waitress who served us at our first Xmas party at Wildfire. Well she passed away this week while waiting for a liver transplant. They held her memorial service today and had her luncheon at Wildfire. She left behind 3 children. I just talked with her last week so this was so sudden. No one saw this coming. My heart is so sad today..I for one count my blessing everyday.

I hope everyone has a wonderful fun filled weekend....I know I will, bday party tomorrow with friends...then downtown party with dd. I am glad I took Monday off. I may just need to sleep in. lol

Remember be healthy..be happy ...enjoy Mango Martini's!!!!

Bj.....such sad news this a.m.  Right before I read I found something and now it seems even more appropriate.  To you and to each and everyone here.  What I wishing I could have voiced but had to borrow elsewhere:

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the "Peanuts" comic strip. You don't have to actually answer the questions.Just read the e-mail straight through, and you'll get the point.

    1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
    2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners. brain function help
    3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America.
    4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.
    5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winner for best actor and actress.
    6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

    How did you do?
The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:
    1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
    2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
    3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
    4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
    5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

    Easier?

    The lesson:
The people who make a difference in your life are not
the ones with the most credentials,
the most money, or the most awards.
They are the ones that care.

    Hugs, Jackie

Sorry it is a day late, but Happy Birthday Blackjack!  I too recall the first time BJ came into our lives.  She was soooo mad about that Tamoxifen!

Sorry to hear about Erin.  I do not remember her.  So sad.

Off to enjoy my DD's birthday!  Going to see Soul Surfer.

Mad about Tamoxifen? I wish I was around to hear that story.

That's too bad about Erin. So sudden but at least she didn't suffer.

BJ, you have all weekend to celebrate!

I never understood why people say." I hope your memories of someone will give you comfort and joy" as memories of someone who died makes one sad.  Now I get it!  The Memorial for Bill was great.  He lived such a fun and at times, mischevious life that when we all got together to hear of his antics, we were laughing so hard we cried.  DH did fine.  Paul followed what his friend wanted, which was the fun side of life stories.  Bill loved History and Paul recalled the time we went to the Grove to see a Civil War reenactment and met up with Bill, dressed in Full Confederate Uniform and he wasn't even a part of the battle renactment.

I am sorry about Erin, although I never met her, and it sounds like she died young, which is so sad.

I am with you BJ, I stay here for the friendships as the cancer seems further and further away.  I hope ALL OF US WILL BE ABLE TO FEEL THAT WAY ONE DAY. Time heals and we have some long time survivors on this thread.

    Take care!

Hello, ladies.  I am from the northern suburbs of Chicago and diagnosed end of February. I have PMed a few of you and thank you all for your input.  I finally got the posting figured out after 3 failed tries so I thought I would introduce myself.

Had my SNB yesterday and I'm doing pretty well pain wise but wish I felt better with this first taste of spring.  I can only sit on the deck rather than dig in the garden or rake like I want to!  My surgery is scheduled for April 19.  Dreading it but you got to do what you got to do.

Welcome TwoHobbies --- as everyone says, sorry that you need us, but we are glad to be here for you..  Everyone prays for a cure to come and definitely all of us do, but then we would start needing a cure for something else.  So much going on in the world, so industrialized and so much technology  ---  and is this why it seems so much more prevalent now that so many of us get this diagnosis?  Yes, maybe no digging this year but so many of us are great proof that after you do what you got to do, life can become full of life again.  Not perhaps the normal you were used to before, but in lots of way that you can appreciate and feel joy for daily.  So glad you are here and hope you will keep returning.

Healing hugs to you as you begin your journey.

    Jackie

Ladies an update on DIL and baby she is carrying.  She is still on bed rest.  They would like her to go until Easter but she is starting to show the first signs of pre-eclampsia.  They are watching her.  They would take the baby now if it was endangering her.  If she goes still easter she will be 5 weeks early.  They want at least one more week for the baby but the longer the better for baby as long as Mom not in any danger.  Thanks for the prayers  Annette

Annette, my thoughts and prayers continue to be with your family and the baby.  Thanks for the update.  I had been wondering how things were progressing.

A big welcome to TwoHobbies.  Come often and tell us more about yourself. Are you having a mastectomy or lumpectomy?

It is WARM here but very windy!  I just couldn't resist.  I took my new car for a ride and put down the top.  Yep, top down and thumbs up for Fitzpatti, Ginny, and Carolyn!

We still have a few more weeks left in our Sunday night mixed bowling league.  The weather is so nice that I'd rather be doing something outside than inside a bowling alley.

Hope everyone is enjoying this day!

Got your PM, Two Hobbies.  Of course I am sure we are all wondering what your two hobbies are. Tell us a bit about yourself.   This group is great for support but it helps to know a bit abour a person.  Where will surgery be?

Well DH and I went up North and had so much fun.  The weather was wonderful and Rita, I pictured you in the convertible.  So many convertibles were on the highway today.

Laura, we got near Union Grove.  Any scheduled car races for this summer?

    Take Care.

Rita: I just cannot beat you on JJ.  I swear, when I think of the purgatory I might spend with St. Peter within the pearly gates  who must figure my time spent  in purgatory before heaven, I picture him  pulling this sheet out documenting my time spent on the computer playing  Jungle Jewels. Oh, how mortifying.

Have a great week and keep alert for that storm they keep taling baout!  Protect the convertibles!

Morning all.....jeepers!  What happened to summer????  Sure was nice out tho...and yes, I washed the Z and took it out for a ride, and whoooohooooed for Fitzpatti, Ginny and Carolyn...same as Rita!  Couldn't get a comb thru my hair when I got home but it was so worth it!

JanClare....Happy, Happy Birthday!!!!!  Hope you are off today, doing something fun!  Enjoy....

TwoHobbies....welcome to our little corner of the world.  Sorry you are here, but glad you found us.  Anything we can do to help, just let us know!

Susan....is it just me or every time I see your picture I think you are wearing a fake beard!  And then of course I realize its a white scarf!  And what is Jungle Jewels?  I will have to check out facebook.  I used to play Pop Pies for hours...and yes, it was a waste of time but somehow so addicting!

Very rainy morning here.  It boomed and banged through the night along with a lot of wind.  I chose to sleep through it.  I hope it waits again until after dark for the second wave that may be coming. I'm with Wendy....O' summer where are you.  Going to have temps in the 40's again by week-end.  Maybe as we get closer that will get revised to something I might like a bit more.

Hope you all have a fantastic day.  Work for me.....sigh !!!!  Why didn't my Mom give me a better middle name to live up too.

    Hugs, Jackie

We had horrible wind and rain during the night but it is beautiful out there now. I took WendyTY for chemo today and we went for pizza and salad afterwards.  I'm sure she won't mind me telling you that she got good news!  Her counts dropped down 100 more points, even after they reduced the strength of the chemo, so the chemo is still working.  That's certainly something to celebrate and there is nobody who deserves this good news better than she!  She was getting pretty tired by the time we got back.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JAN CLARE!   CELEBRATE!  IT'S YOUR SPECIAL DAY!

Wendy, Jungle Jewels is a game on facebook that is so darn addicting that I can't play it unless I have at least an hour to kill.  You would love it.  Connie has beaten both Susan and I this week so she's the star for the week.  I've been trying to catch her but she's got a very high score.  Maybe she'll reveal her game plan one of these days and give Susan and I a chance to win!  LOL

O.K. Jackie......what IS your middlle name?

I hope everyone is having a good day.  I'm going to change into my "bummin' clothes" and go outside and enjoy this lovely afternoon.  First I'm going to tackle another flower bed and then I'm just going to sit and bask in the sun with a book.

    Catch you all later.

    Rita

Ok here goes....my middle name is Sue.  Here's a little piece of why my first name is spelled like it it.........My first name is actually Jackquelynn which is how I always wished it were spelled, however, neither my Mom nor the Nuns at the hospital knew I wanted to spell it that way and since none of them knew how to spell it period......ta-da......get ready for this !!!!!  Though I've now had 65 years to learn to live with it.....my first name thanks to the Nuns and my Mom is spelled Jackolin.

By the way....I forgave all of them the yr. I got my diagnosis.   Teasing, it was a little while before that.  Gotta go to Mt. Vernon and pick up Denny from work.  I'm still doing that.  Good thing I like that guy !!!!!

Thank you all for the well wishes.  Alas, I'm laid up with this coughing hacking lung thing that I have had come and go for months now.  If it wasn't for the fever and yellow junk that comes up (sorry if TMI), I would be thinking lung mets!   Went to the doctor and asked for a chest x-ray anyway.  Should hear tomorrow if they spot anything funny.

I think I'll put my birthday off for a week!  Undecided
