Roula & Terry~ Such good news for you both!  So nice to hear!

Lago~ You go girl!  and THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge with the public in such a positive forum!  I look forward to hearing about the radio spots.  Will they give you a copy that you can download for all of us to hear???

Joan~  I thought I was immune even with a family history!  Had I been tested for the BRCA mutation sooner I likely could've saved myself a boat-load of treatments and surgeries!  Makes me want to cry!

GO ILLINOIS LADIES!!!  I'll be doing the Strides walk in Neenah, WI next weekend with my cuz (who was diagnosed with stage IV at age 32.  She's 34 now & "Fighting Like a" Lady!!!)  She has a husband and 3 small children (ages 8,7,6) and I pray that she will be around for many years to come.  Embarassed

I have finally been catapulted off of the couch and walking the neighborhood after work!  Yay!.., getting that exercise I've been talking about since July!!!  I'm 2/2.., walked both yesterday and today!.., off to a good start.., I hope to keep it up!

Enjoy our beautiful fall ladies.  And camille.., where are the humorous pictures?  I count on you for a laugh-a-day!  Laughing

Happy Breast Cancer Awareness month to all!

    Excellence is the result of
caring more than others think wise,
risking more than other's think safe,
dreaming more than others think practical,
and expecting more than others think possible.

For those of you that aren't of facebook:

Today I spoke again as a breast cancer survivor with Susan Wiencek of Mixed Matters: WTMX-WILV| Hubbard Radio Chicago, and Ann McNamara, VP of Annual Giving from the American Cancer Society. This will air on the radio in morning Oct 14th. After that I should be able to post the link of the podcast.

BTW I mentioned our Illinios Ladies Strides team! Said our team was one of the top fundraisers… actually right now we are still #1. GO TEAM!!!

Not sure why my boobs look bigger than my head! It was the only short sleeved pink shirt I had that was clean… maybe too clean. Needed to be stretched out a little.

Oh, so in the mood for fondue.  I do not go to Melting Pot as I walk in and waddle out.  Any good recipes tucked into that fondue pot, Adey?

I drive to Siteman in STL. Just started down this road and getting great treatment from an onco that specializes in HER2. At some point, I am hoping I won't have to drive all the time, but the surgeon who I saw in spfld said that, for most people, it isn't worth all the hassle to drive to STL, but for me it is the best thing to do. Yikes! But at the same time, I'm glad to know he thinks I'm doing the right thing!!

I have a good friend getting chemo for BC here at Simmons.

    Hi, Nicky--

I'm in Champaign, so not TOO far away. I get to Springfield once in a while for a seminar or such.

Congratulations on finding an oncologist with special expertise with HER2. That has to be reassuring!

The very nature of the world is constant change.
    You set a goal and create a plan to achieve it;
then the assumptions on which you
based your plan change - they always do.
The challenge is to retain your goals
    while adapting your tactics.

Nicky...I still drive 73 miles to Marion, Ill for my after tx check-ups.  Siteman would be that distance for me if I were heading west.  My original txs were done in very late 2007 and to just past middle 2008.  I think it is important to feel as much confidence as you can...... even if that entails a fair drive.  In reality, I did not have total choice as I went through the V.A. for my care....but felt so strongly about my breast surgeon...Dr. Ryan from SIU that I felt way less concern on the rest of things.  Also, the patient navigator in Dr. Ryan's office continued to be so supportive....even gave me her home number and email.............I had excellent care, and though a few regrets, none of any true importance.

    Hugs, Jackie

Just a quick drive by to say hi to everyone and a big welcome to nickythebean.  Glad that you found an ONC who specializes in HER. Keep coming back.  These ladies are super.

Lago... can't help staring at those boulders!  Maybe it is the shirt, LOL.  Thanks for all your hard work on the "Making Strides" event.  I am sure that it is going to be fun and inspiring.  I am back up to walking 2 1/2 miles now, so I should be ready by the 20th.  I have about 9 more weeks of PT for my back.  Today I topped it off with a massage so I am feeling pretty mellow back at work.   SNZZzzz.

    Lago-vavavoom!

Joan-you continue to amaze..I'm so happy you're doing so well.

Yesterday was the one year anniversary of my dx.  I'm amazed at how far I've come and still pissed I had to make the journey.  Thanks to all of you for helping me through.  Looking forward to the walk and the party in November!

I never received the party invite-I checked my spam folder and it wasn't in there, but if those offers are true and if I had a penis, it would be HUGE! Embarassed

LOL Spunky.......too funny!  Do you think anyone believes those spam messages?  Really?  Come on!  I also wonder how come I keep getting penis one's - they must have heard I don't have boobs!  LOL!  Glad there is a spam folder so I don't have to deal with that too much.
