I was Mia for a bit relaxing on a much needed vaca. With no good wifi I missed you all.

Hugs Tim, you will get through this.

Copor glad to hear your exchange went well and you are happy. I go in on Monday for my exchange. A bit nervous.

    Great quotes Jackie!

Beautiful sunny day here before we ( gulp ) possibly get some more snow.  No lasting quality to it though I'm pretty sure, if it does happen.

I know I have entered this quote a number of times but I so ENJOY Eckhart Tolle.  It came up today and I decided to put it in again.  So simple, and yet so difficult at times when things like cancer, mental issues and other things might be your experience now.  I know we 'grow' so much by over-coming the many things we all will have as a part of our existence.  We are not growing our minds and bodies so much as we are growing our soul -- the forever part of each of us.

    Blessings

Thank you ladies so much for the warm welcome; I am two days out and feeling good.  Home health care nurse about to arrive to show me how to flush PICC line (already learned this at hospital) and change dressing.  Waiting for the other shoe to drop since this is the last day of my steroids.  I got my shot yesterday; hoping I don't get the bone pain.  Is is true that days shortly after the steroid ends will be the worse for me?  That's about the time my BF flies back to Texas and I will be on my own.  The good news is the sun is shining!

jmg, anticipation is the worst part of all of this.  I bet none of it will be as bad as you anticipate.  That's the way it's been for me.  The struggle is to take it one day, one moment at a time.

I had a bad reaction to the steroids so I was relieved when they wore off.

During my 30s I had very severe panic attacks....really terrifying.....and I was on xanax for awhile (at least a year).  The attacks subsided with time and the xanax  and I was weaned off of them.  It totally was not a problem.  I think if you take them as needed for a short period of time you will not get addicted.  Of course I neither know nor am a doctor, but I really think  they are better than sheer anxiety and I do not think you could get addicted.  Hope you are feeling better!

jmg58 I was one of the few that loved steroids. Really didn't seem to effect me much. Just had a bit more energy one them but I never had issues sleeping. For me they kept the fluid retention down. Bone pain for me was with Nuelasta. The first shot was intense but the others not so bad at all.

JMG I loved the steroids, cuz I was still working for the first 4 months and I got everything on a Monday and Tuesday was my 12 hr day--I was like rarin' to go--and not everyone has a drastic fall after--everyone is different--so it's hard to tell u how u will feel but u can sure tell us and if anyone can help they will. And don't worry about being alone it seems to be something a lot of us went thru alone. For me it was nice actually.

Actually, I did not know I was getting steroids at Sloan.  They gave them in pill form.  After an infusion I wanted to walk the length of Manhattan!  My husband was worried and kept asking if I wanted to take a cab or go to a movie but I just wanted to walk forever!

Then I tried getting my infusions at Lutheran General.  They gave the steroid intravenously.  I had terrible heart pain, something I never felt before.  I thought I would die.  It was awful.

I had to have a holter monitor and a stress test and when the dr declared it was a "steroid reaction" I went back to Sloan for the rest of my infusions.  But I do know what you mean about steroid energy.  But when it went bad, I was flat on my back.

Thanks for the reassurance about xanax.

We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that
    deep inside us is
valuable, worth listening to, worthy of

IllinoisLady I love the quote about the soul!  Thank you!

2.5 years ago we had a house fire.  My dog, Chloe died due to smoke inhalation.  I went back to work the next day.  3 weeks later I was not handling life very well.  Found a great doctor and therapist to bring me through the trauma.  Xanax was a part of my therapy every day.  If I had not taken the Xanax (and 2 other meds) at the time I would not be recovered today.  I have my "emergency" bottle of Xanax with me at all times in case something sets me off and I relive the trauma of the fire.  Sirens, shows with fire, fire safety video, fire extinguisher training, a fire fighter walking into a store are all things that have set me off in the past and that is when I use my 2 mg Xanax.  I had my last prescription of emergency Xanax filled 6 months ago with 30 pills.  25 of the pills are still there.  I did take one before my breast biopsy!  I will take one when they remove my port!

Right now I take prescription medications to take care of my body.  Sometimes I take a prescription medication for my mind that allows the other meds to work.

I really appreciate all of these testimonials to xanax.  My son and dil are both psychiatrists and they tell me is an awful drug and warned me against taking it.  I told them that I don't get addicted to pills.  I do see how tolerance can go up.  .25 milligrams used to be a lot stronger than it is now.  But it really feels so wonderful when you need that help!  Sometimes life is just too much.  It all piles up.  I don't drink, although sometimes I wish I did.  It's really reassuring to see how many people xanax has helped.

Timbuktu.....you really do need to do what will get you "shored" up and doing well.  I suspect that used in the setting where your son and dil are, there could be many issues with Zanax.  I think many of their patients may need really long, long term help and  you just need  a very short course.  As well I'm sure your mental faculties are fine.....that will make a big difference too.

    Blessings,

Tim- this is a big deal, and struggling with it is good, not bad.  Be kind to yourself :-)

A question for everyone- has anyone gotten 3D tattoos somewhere other than their PS?  Love my PS and his assistant does the tattoos.  I want someone who really enjoys it and takes pride in their work.  Cuz I'm gonna be wearing their "work" for a while!  I'm not opposed to the PS, just wondering about options.

Tim, I have been off & on Xanax for years and don't think I'm addicted.  I take it in periods of stress then I slowly take less for a couple of weeks and then take it again when the next major anxiety-ridden thing comes along (and I mean big things like surgery, bankruptcy, etc.)  It works like a charm for me.....my psychiatrist who I started seeing several years ago for a different physical illness that was more or less untreatable at that time echoes my sentiments...she has no problem giving it to me.  All the nurses at the onc office went out of their way to tell me to get it if I wasn't already on it.  Just my two cents.

Over the years I have come to believe that life is
    full of unchosen
    circumstances, that being human
has to do with the evolution of our
    individual
consciousness and with it, responsibilities for choice.  Pain and
joy both come with life.  I believe that
how we respond to what happens to us and around us shapes who we become and has
to do with the psyche or the soul’s growth.

A question....  I just spoke to the resident radiation oncologist at Sloan.  The dr had told me that I had lymph invasion in my tumor.  That was a shock and I asked if that didn't mean that it could be anywhere in my body as lymph is everywhere.  He kept telling me not to worry, that it was just in the tumor and the tumor was gone.  That made no sense to me.  When I had lymph invasion with the breast cancer (this is about endometrial cancer) they decided to give me chemo.  With this, no chemo.  Anyway, after speaking to the resident awhile she said "Obviously lymph is everywhere in your body so this is of some concern, although we only saw it in the lymph in the tumor."  No chemo is recommended.

Does this make any sense to anyone?

I'm sorry I don't know the answer to this at all, Tim...I hope someone more helpful will post soon.  Can you speak to your regular doctor today and not the resident?

The radiation oncologist is out of town.  He did not seem to want to explain, or he couldn't.  He just said not to worry.

What the resident said made a lot more sense to me.  I guess there's no point in worrying either way.  There's  just so much

    we can do.

lymph invasion for one cancer doesn't mean the same thing for every cancer. They are all different diseases. If your rad onc is out of town or doesn't want to explain ask your BS.

Loopylago, I had a hunch you might know something about this.

    Thanks for the input everyone.

    There's always Xanax!

Sheesh, the emoticon came out at the beginning rather than the end.

Ah....I hear Spring beginning....and feel it too.  75 degrees it will be today.  Cooler after that but it is the Spring teasers that come this time of year.  It all has good meanings.

Well Jackie here's where out weather parts I think--u get warmer, here to but not as warm as u get, so we'll see when it cools down, it probably won't get as cold for u.
