Talked to Leah yesterday trying to firm up the plans for the Feb. get together.  Please send me an PM if you are for sure going to come.  We need to get a condo/house booked and it really depends on how many of us there are.  Leah is planning to stay a week and is booking her airfare for Feb 23 (SAT) thru March 1 (Saturday)  Those will be the dates we have lodging booked.  Stay a week or 4 days, doesn't matter just need to know.

Also, a couple of the gals here wanted me to let you know if you would like to come but are having some financial issues (good Lord, like me!) then please let us (me, by PM) know.  We have some IT girls who fly free and another who graciously offered to help out.  The main thing is we want to meet EVERYONE and would hate for someone not to make it because of being tight in the wallet.

I am so jealous of Hillary and Twilah!  Dang it, I want to have lunch with you two!!!!  Marsha

    Happy Friday all...

Marsha, I will plan to be there for the same period of time as Leah.  I'm sure I can work that out and want to maximize the time with all of you.

Hillary...are you going to tell us what your SP sent you? Cool

Hugs Karen...must feel soooo good to have those results in.

Thanks on the avatar Jan...I'm now incognito...hehe

Ditto on Marsha's comment re financial constraints...let's figure out who all wants to be there then worry about the financing.

Have a nice Friday evening everybody.

I think I will have to pass on our get-together. The weekend of the 21-23 is the high school state swimming meet. Since this will be my last one I want to go and enjoy. We don't drive home until Monday. I really wish I could be there though. I LOVE Florida.

I am a bit overwhelmed with swimming and the college process. I am learning as I go about NCAA rules. So far my son has three official visits set up but he is stressed as he has not heard from one of his top five choices. Wish I knew what what we were doing!!

I am going to make the big step and pick up my AI prescription tomorrow.

Still reeling in the celebration on the genetics test although they said given my family history I have some kind of genetic mutation.

Prior to bc my BP was always very low, even though I am overweight. However during radiation it was up every week. Well it is not going away and now I am going to start on Bp meds. I am wondering if the red devil, adriamycin, did a number on my heart. So I will add the pill tomorrow too! Didn't someone else say they had the same problem. Good news is that while my neuro pain is not gone it is getting better. Still have a hard time walking when I get tired.

    Hmmmm wonder what Hillary got!!

Ditto Marsha!  I can't log on with my old account.  It keeps saying login failed, try again.  This is the second night I received that message. I set up another account and now my avatar is gone and I don't have my PMs.  So frustrating.  I will have to redo my profile and add a picture.  Oh well.  I emailed the website and haven't heard from them yet.

I am cleaning out closets and working in the yard.  Killed weeds today in preparation for redoing the bark in all flower beds.  Talk about sweating...yikes.

Hope everyone is doing well. Congrats on the BRCA1/2 negative results, I think it was Karen, not sure.

Change is always hard for me, so i am sure I will get the hang of this new format soon.

    Love to all, Sammie Kay

    Yes Karen,

I have developed high blood pressure since having chemo.  I was always in the 115/70's and now it is 140/90.  It raised by cholesterol and triglycerides as well.  I gained 12 lbs during Taxol.  My doc(interist) is blaming the weight not the chemo.  Go figure.

O.K., I have had my head somewhere else, but somehow I don't know where in FL I will be going.  I need a destination city.  I have Daytona and Orlando in my brain.  Marsha, can you let me know, so I can price tickets?  I will really appreciate it.  Oh that's right,  Marsha is out of pocket this weekend.  Well, anyone else who has been paying attention, LOL.  Twink, Carynn?  Thanks, love you, SammieKay  P.S.  The dates too.  I think it is weekend of Feb. 21 to 23, but some are staying on into the next week, like until the 26 or 27.  How is the cost of the house being covered?  Are we all chipping in?  I am just full of questions aren't I?

Good morning Sammie! I copied the thread below from Melissa and Tammy’s help section. This should allow you to change back to your old account (but you will have to reload your avatar). Hope it helps you!

Based on user feedback we have added the ability to change your user name. To change your user name, please log in, go to "My Home", go to "My Profile" and then click the "Change" link next to your current user name.

Favorites did not come over in the import from the old boards as the costs for the technical work on this was simply too great. I am sorry. For similar reasons, avatars also did not come over. I apologize again for all the many inconveniences.

They encourage you to send them a message if you are having trouble and from what I’ve seen they are responding and implementing changes at lighting speed! :)

The name of the beach where everyone is meeting in February is called Flagler Beach. You can Google some great info on it until Marsha comes back!

Karen – Hope the BP meds are just temporary and that it gets back to normal soon for you.

Hillary – Do tell, what did your Secret Pal send you? :)

Looking forward to a bit of a lazy Saturday. I am dragging DH kicking and screaming to the computer store today. So excited, for me that’s like going to the candy store! :)

Take care everyone & have a great day!

    Carynn...

Did I miss something?  Or do you work for "breastcancer.org"?

Karen, we did a college visit today.  Beautiful campus...division II school - University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.  DD is not sure about playing volleyball...we are waiting to see how the tournaments go and if any coaches around here show an interest.

She may be in pre-med, so is concerned about study time.

We still have a few more visits to do.

Did I tell you all...she was nominated for homecoming queen?  Parade and festivities are this coming Friday.  DH & I got our free game tickets in the mail today....will have to buy some though for the rest of the family.  Looking forward to it.  She bought a very pretty formal dress for it.

Looking forward too, to seeing her Sr. Pics.  They should be delivered this week.

Well, my contacts are killling me....and I need to get back to the PSU/Notre Dame game....Love you all,

    Terry

Good Sunday morning all! :) Had kind of a cool thing happen to me last night that I thought I'd share with you.

We were supposed to go over to my best friend's house to watch the NASCAR race, but she got a cold that's going around, and I dont want to get sick, so I cancelled. DH decided kind of late that we should go for pizza (a local sports bar/pizza parlour) and watch the end of the race there; so off we went. So we get there and the place is packed with race fans. Since we're probably not going to the Nov. race in Phoenix (long story) he asked a couple who were really screaming at the tv for a particular driver if they needed tickets. Well, again, long story short, no, they too are season ticket holders, and camp out at PIR like we did, so they are all set. He's standing there talking to them forever, so finally I walk over and he introduces me with a pretty funny, but slightly off color joke about my hair (which I wont repeat here). So I gave my standard come back about my $10,000 chemo cut and the girl asks when I finshed, etc., etc. My hairdresser also hangs out at this place and has often told me of a woman in the regular crowd there who is a 6 year Survivor and that the pizza place sponsors a big group from there to walkl for her every October. Turns out the woman I'm talking to is that Survivors best friend. The Survivor (whose name is Karen) wasnt there last night, but her friend hands me a flyer about the Race for the Cure coming in November and says they'll walk for me too and do I want to go. I'll save you the rest of the details except to tell you that I have a way cool shirt on the way, and that we are going to the walk on a chartered bus :), followed by a big after party. I'm a bit of an amature photographer, and I've agreed to be the offical photog for the event for the sponsor (the pizza place). We're meeting again in a few weeks to pick up my shirt, and I'll get to meet Karen then. So it was a real "feel good" night for me. In addition, now we just might make the Phoenix November NASCAR race afterall. Also funny, the woman who gave me the flyer, her husband is also an IT Manager. :)

Anyway, it's really amazing the extraordinary people that this horrible disease brings into one's life.

    Happy Sunday everyone!

Carynn;  I so agree, what we have all gone through opens up a lot of conversations with similar stories to tell.  I had it happen to me a few nights ago also.  Go to that race!  You have already missed one.

The new boards do not suit me very well.  Of course, I tried to log on several times before it finally worked.  I do like the typeset here.  It is much larger, which is nice since my eyesight has gotten worse over the past several months.

I got an ecard from my SP...so much fun!

    Sammie Kay,

You want to fly into Orlando, and either rent a car or we will try to get there at somewhat the same time and "pool". Due to the Race week/Bike Week things, there is actually a better chance of us finding something in Cocoa Beach or something like that. I have gently prodded Ms. Marsha to get on with it, so that it is why we are firming up the numbers so that we can get something the right size.

We may end up in Orlando proper, and just go the beach if that ends up being the case. Tough to get all this done!

Depending on what the housing costs, it will be a minimal split, or as Marsha said, some of us can chip in and cover shares for others. Not a problem at all.

    So price away!

Okay...another reason to dislike the new boards.  No flashing!!!

I just got back from my business trip and OH MY...what a cute card and Mickey and Minnie were hiding inside!  The appliques are adorable.  Now, what shall I attach them to?  I do have a couple of blank spots...ahem...do you think DH would like 'em?

Darn it...postmark is not legible.  Can't even make a guess who my SP is...

One of my dearest friends just walked in and she loves M&M also.  She wants me to iron them to my backside...lol.

Leah;  You are right about trying to book something during Speed Weeks anywhere close to Daytona.  I guess I didn't realize that Flagler was so close that it would be affected by those events going on.

Tomorrow is bloodwork time again.  Yuck.  We will be talking about the BRCA testing.

I hope everyone's week is starting off great!

    Hi All

Managed to get on to the computer and was very surprised with the changes but did get back in OK.

Finally have my living/dining room back and I am so pleased with the result. It made up for a couple of really tired days last week, once again no energy. Hats off to those who are working. On the weekend DH and I went out to get a new light fitting - come home with having bought new table and chair - no light fitting for over the table yet.

The days are certainly getting longer here but the weather is very changeable. The flowers are so pretty at the moment.

Have organised our holiday but unfortunately we have to leave the States off this year, DH can't be away for long enough to do both USA and UK. We will make it next year about this time and spend all our time in the States.

My rad burns have finally settled down thank goodness but it has taken antibiotics and silver supersulphadiazine cream which was wonderful.

DD2 has just arrived so I had better go and see what she is after.

    Have a great day

OK who the heck is vacationing in Hawaii????  I got a great postcard fro my SP and it looks like someone is having a good time!!

Karen, wow 5K good for you.  I've been back to work also.  Switched Brokers so have to get the office set up, news signs ordered, business cards etc.  Wears me out but in a good way.

Here is who I know for sure is coming:  Leah, Melanie, Twilah, Phyl, Me,  Sammie Kay, Hillary (?)and Catherine (?)  Anyone I am missing?  Carynn are you going to be able to get away?

Leaving Thursday for a visit with the family in Tenn.  Mom and Dad have a houseboat rented, (6 bedrooms! AND a hot tub!) on the lake.  We will drive back on Monday.  Other than my parents, I haven't seen the family since this time last year.

Have a great day everyone.  Love ya, Marsha

Karen;  Hooray for doing that 5k!!!

Alyson;  Sounds like your project is coming along nicely....and so is the weather?  We have cooled down to the 80's this week.  It is much nicer than the 100's we have had so much of this summer.

Marsha;  You will have such a wonderful time in the Houseboat.  We did that last summer.  Our large group of friends rented 3 of them on Lake Ouchita.  We even took our own band.  Had a blast!  Ohhh...I am sorry that I did not answer earlier about your Florida question.  I will be at Disney from Sept 19th until the 24th.  I am babysitting my granddaughter while my daughter attends a convention.  Three of my friends are going with me.  Would you be free to meet up with us one day?

I had my bloodwork today.  I told the lab I wanted the BRCA testing done.  They said they would have to ok that with my Dr.  I told them he had already said it was my choice.  Anyway, they did it without his ok.  I signed all the papers, waited for him and told him about my decision.  He said that was fine.  Checked me over.  Liked the new boobs and said he couldn't believe how fast I had healed.  All of my scans were clean and my ca tumor markers had dropped from 28 to 24.  I know the numbers can be unreliable, but I was sure happy to hear they had finally dropped.

    Thinking of you all....

Thanks Leah for the information. I have been working hard around my house getting ready for my sister's visit, plus I worked today and will work tomorrow.  So, I am very, very tired.  I was up in the night last night  from 2 am to 3 am.  I will try to firm up my plans for Feb. and let you know  for sure if I can make the Florida trip. I am just too tired tonight to shop for airline tickets.

I received a lovely pin and card from my sp.  How do you guys get the post office to smear your postmark?  LOL.  Mine was smeared also.  Thank you so much for thinking of me.  What a lovely pin.  I love it.

Well I better go to bed, it will be time to get up before i know it. Love to all, Sammie Kay

PS-I miss Catherine's lovely posts.  Hurry back Catherine.

Catherine must be having a grand time with her sister, haven't seen her post in a while.

Too funny you guys are receiving cards with inlegible postmarks! I got a nice card from my SP...hmmm Cincinati, Ohio?

ALYSON>I got really energetic for two weeks and did the major house thing and haven't had that much energy since. I'm even surprised that I keep falling asleep between 9pm and 10pm watching dvds even on days I've taken a nap.

MARSHA>have a grand time on the boat and with family!

We are getting ready to take the trike in Saturday to the dealership to finally have the running boards install to complete the trike while we are in San Diego. DH is going to let them do the first maintenance whle they have it apart, he's already put on 5,000 miles since late June. Marine son called to tell us his surgery date has been moved again, his surgeon had emergency leave. We are still going out to see him, had already changed the reservations 3 times since May (when he was supposed to graduate).

We got great news yesterday that his (DH)complete break is finally healing!

KAREN>I think the Susan Koman run is this weekend here. The lady anchor on the news that had breast cancer in 04 was on tv pushing for people to run/sponsor it. We have a benefit spaghetti dinner for a lady biker Saturday and another group is doing something for her on Sunday. She went down when two dogs came at her from both sides as she was pulling out of her driveway and she hit one of them. Had to have her knee replaced.Had just recovered from breaking her hip this last winter slipping and falling on the ice!

So fun to see everyone's SP comments. Some of you seem to be really stumped (Marsha!)

Karen - good for you on the 5K! I'm going to the walk here on October 14th,  but I'm not walking. I'm the official cheerleader and photographer!

Alyson - nice to hear from you! How are you feeling these days? Keeping the RA at bay?

Marsha - have a wonderful time! Hope you have some fun pix to post when you get back from the houseboat vacation. My best friend and her kids, hubby and his BIG family do that every year on Lake Powell. Sounds divine! As for February, I wont know for a while yet. If you guys need a firm headcount right away, it's best to count me out. :( Is anyone thinking about going to Pinkstock 2 next year?

Melanie - good luck with the results on your BRCA testing. They told me 4-6 weeks, I got my results back in 2 weeks. I found being forced to talk with the counselors a bit annoying, but all in all it was not a bad experience.

SammieKay - hope you are well and staying dry. Did the hurricane miss you? Sure hope so.

WildJan - great news about DH! When are you going to San Diego? This weekend? Have a great time!

Catherine - welcome back! We've all missed you! Glad to hear you've been out having fun. Any pictures?

Leah, Vegas, Hillary & all - hope to hear from you very soon!

    Hugs!

    Hello, all.

Started my new position last Wednesday, so was ready for a spontaneous trip to Portland Maine last Sat/Sunday. We had a great time! Also included a trip to LLBean, which is always fun. And then this week has just flown by! It is kind of exciting to be at a new place, but also stressful as you try to get yourself up to speed as fast as possible on how this particular company configured their version of the Enterprise system that they are using.

Counting down for two big things:  90 day Pet/CT scan will be Wednesday the 19th. I will be chewing my nails, as that will really be 6 months from the end of chemo. Then I meet with the liver guys who did the RFA on the 24th, where they will tell me what they think happened.

Then ITALY! on 10/3. No matter what I hear next week, Italy, Here Comes Leah!

Don't know if I told this story or not, but here goes: I don't know how typical this is, but I find it strange that my oncologist's practice doesn't like to schedule out appts. more than about 3 weeks out. Whenever I try to, they always make me call back "closer to the date". Sometimes I get paranoid, thinking that they are thinking that you might not be here in two months, so why schedule?

Anyway, I got a letter from Mass General, from the people who will be following up on my liver RFA. And they scheduled all my appts. for the next year.  When I saw the appt. for Aug. 18, 2008, I said to myself, "Well, somebody believes I will be around for at least a year". It was kind of psychologically uplifting.  So, I bought myself a new car! I kindof now believe I will be around to drive it for a year or two!  So out with the 8 year old one!

Hope you are all dodging the storms and that you are all well and happy...

    Love.
