HI all,
Sounds like everyone is busy. It is getting to that time of the year.
I am still in Atlanta, back from North Carolina. Had a great time with the granddaughters and my sister. They wore us out.
I will return to Texas this Thursday and back to work on Fri. Ugh!
Enjoying my Dallas Cowboys last night and keeping up with the NFL.
Hope everyone is happy and feeling well.
Thinking of Pat and Marsha all the time. (((((((((Pat))))))))) and (((((((((((Marsha)))))))))
Love and hugs to all, Sammie Kay

Hello, All...
So back to looking for a job. Recruiters calling... we'll see what happens.
The LBBC org willbe holding a teleconference (and then transcripts will be available later) for the question about Follow-up testing. We have had many discussions on this board about why it differs so much based on our own docs.... and regional differences, too I suspect. So the moderator, who is someone I saw at the Dana Farber conference two weeks ago, will address the standards and then go on to talk about the different protocols...
Here is the info:
Follow-Up Testing 101
Register now for our next free teleconference, Follow-Up Testing 101, at the new time from 7:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on Wednesday, November 18.
Nancy U. Lin, MD, of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, will give you practical information about follow-up testing, including:
- The National Cancer Institute's guidelines for follow-up testing
- Why follow-up care may vary from doctor to doctor
- The differences in follow-up care between early-stage and advanced breast cancer
- The importance of a long-term survivorship plan
- How to communicate post-treatment concerns with your doctor
Would be worth it, I think.
Love.

Hi girls... thanks for posting pictures, Terry... these parks are such a jewel... the pbs series by Ken Burns certainly makes everybody appreciate this national treasure (now mine, too ). Your family is lovely...
Thanks, Leah, for the info... I'll try to get on... definitely an important issue.
I am going to bed... absolutely pooped... we are sitting our neighbors birdies (3), and the dogs are hysterical... already 4 days, and they are still jumping around to get the lovely long tail of some kind of a green small parrot -- Jake, a great girl... smart...
It's been a fight to keep the doggies at bay... and yet, Toby underwent surgery to remove cysts and clean his teeth (while we were at it), but it is as if nothing happened (and yet, he is shaved in 2 spots with pretty long scars), sharp as a whistle.
Very busy here, but fine... Thinking of you all. Hope the hurricane/tropical storm did not bother you, Marsha... our neighbors are in Florida for the week... the weather might have been better in Denver...
Till soon, hugs to all... Catherine

Hi all, at last a beautiful day. Thought I might show off some pictures so hope this works.
SOme flowers and Bea's birthday, she loved the chocolate cake and don't worry she didn't get any wine but thought she could have some of the pretty stuff Mummy was drinking.
My sister and I think we will go out to the Rose gardens this afternoon. I have to go back and get more xrays of my leg. Had the second lot done and yesterdayI got a call to say they wanted more images. I am walking around fine, just can't kneel on it and its often very sore, Doc thinks it is a bone bruise.
Happy job hunting Leah and I hope you have fun with all those animals Catherine.
Hugs to all.
Alyson

Hi all! Home from a week at NASCAR. Really fun time. This year we had 3 pregnant ladies in our group - definitely out of the ordinary since most of us are a little old for that.
I was able to read everyone's posts, but the browser on my Blackberry didn't want me to post - it was painfully slow.
Gotta run and find us something to eat. Hopefully I'll get back soon to write a proper post. I'm SO far behind! Company arrives in 3 days for Thanksgiving and MIL's 102nd birthday party. I seriously need a vacation from my vacation!

I know we are all extremely busy and I won't even try to make excuses for not posting . I have a few minutes here at the office before heading to dinner and just wanted to say Hi to everyone! It is so good to see so many of us still here and sharing our ongoings. I just returned this afternoon from 5 days at Disney with hubby, Natalie and friends and their girls. I am so ready for a meal that doesn't include peanut butter or chicken nuggets! Really had a nice time though. Natalie was barely tall enough for the big roller coasters and just loved them. My little daredevil...she scares me.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving! It is our favorite holiday...food and friends I wish we could just take the family and leave for the whole month of December. Not possible, but it would be nice to avoid all the craziness and stress of the month. And then again...I cherish just being here to be a part of the whole wonderful chaotic mess!
Always thinking of you all.....

Just popped in to see how everyone is doing and to wish everyone a lovely Thanksgiving filled with great food and loving family and friends. We are headed out to North Carolina to Glen's family and then I am going to spend a week with my brother outside of Atlanta while he is on vacation. Won't be spending the holiday with our boys this year - they are taking off for a trip to Amsterdam! Their first trip to Europe and they are quite excited.
Love to all and let's try to all remember not to stress and be too crazy with the holidays this year!

Great to hear from all of you.
Yes indeed, Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving.
Great for your daughter, Leah. She is so fortunate. Jobs are really scarce, at least around here.
Dian, it is so funny, I just got home from Snellville,GA, a suberb of Atlanta. While there, my sister and I went to Chapel Hill, NC. Wish our paths had crossed.
Congrats on the new baby, Carynn. I know you will have a very nice Thanksgiving.
I will be cooking for Mike's 2 DD and their spouses. We always cook a turkey, even if it is only the 2 of us. We do well in the kitchen together. I hate clean-up.
I received 60 cc's of saline in the implants yesterday. It is o.k. they still are somewhat round and flat. The projection is not there. At this point I really don't care. They look 100% better than before.
Hugs and love to all, Sammie Kay

Happy Satruday to all! Leah, congrats for your daughter, I am sure she will make the right choice (with your expert help, of course!)
Carynn, congrats on the baby. Will he be with you for the holiday?
Sammie Kay, Melanie and Diann, sounds like you are all quite the travelers! We are staying home for Thanksgiving. My kids will all be here, my sister and BIL and one of their kids are coming. She is not up to cooking, as BIL will be starting chemo and hormone therapy asap and she is preoccupied. So I told her to come here and relax. I can certainly empathize.
Well I have losts of cleaaning and getting ready to do....DD got home last eve from school, complete with dirty clothes!
Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving to all of you and your families! I am grateful to have had all of you in my life these last 3 years!

DH and I are in the veeehicle (did that for Leah) heading back from a weekend road trip in Missouri. We were scouting and spying....lol. We are close to home and I am exhausted and stuffed. We stopped at Lambert's...Home of the Throwed Rolls and I had to unbutton my jeans when I got in the truck...seriously....ughhh, will I ever learn.
Leah; So happy for her! Has she decided? Are you ready to head somewhere warm?
Catherine; I found some lovely yarn at a craft fair that I am planning to send to you...hope you like it!
Sammie; I have been wondering how you are progressing...with all the problems you have had, you certainly deserve a good outcome. I went through a bout of cellulitis a few weeks ago. I was pretty worried about lymphedema, but fortunately I escaped that problem. Dr. said if I didn't improve immediately, I would be in the hospital on IV antibiotics...but all is well.
Carynn; I am lamenting Mark not winning the championship...I had such hopes. We had such a nice time in Texas...only 16 people to entertain!
Vegas; Yeah! Traveling for the holiday...bet you will have a wonderful time.
Alyson; Bea looks adorable. What a sweet time for you...and it only gets better!
Terry; I love you photos...you are glowing and beautiful. Don't work too hard...now, I am one to talk as that is exactly how I got the cellulitis...so take heed. I will also be doing all the cooking as I just don't trust anyone else.
Ohhhh....the pic that Leah posted of Dr. Lin....she is my Dr. at Dana Farber! Very bright young lady and I was impressed with her and the answers that she gave me.
Marsha and Pat...hope you both know that we are always thinking of you and no matter how much it seems that our lives are taking different paths, we still care about what you are both going through. None of us know what tomorrow might have in store for us. You are our sisters and we love you both.

Hi all
Just a quick note. DH and I have been in Dunedin which is a couple of hours flight from here. He had to go down to a Church meeting as he is head of finances on what is called Council of Assembly the group that runs the Presbyterian Church in NZ so I went too to make sure he didn't get too tired. then we had a couple of extra night. Was a great time I walked miles literally. the gardens were beautiful, it's a lovely city.
must go and unpack, well put most of it into the laundry.

Just a quick pop in to say Happy Thanksgiving! I'm so THANKFUL for all of you.
Still have a houseful of company, tomorrow is MIL's 102nd birthday. Making some cranberry sauce right now, and the family is playing cards.
Cranberries are poppin' so gotta run. Have a wonderful holiday everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all! I have to go this a.m. for a quick scan to check the RFA handiwork, and then on the road to the western part of the state, where we spend T-Day with the neighbors. The neighbor husband is a fanatic about having turkey smells in his house on T-day, so we can never do anything else! But the food and the company will be wonderful...
I have a job offer- totally unexpected, but as they say, timing is everything, so I will be going back up to talk to them in explicit detail on Monday. It is doing "production support" remotely for companies who bought what are called "managed services" contracts. It is all Oracle, and has always been part of the work I have done, but never 100% so I have a tiny qualm about giving up complete user contact and only dealing with people thru help tickets and email. But the job can be done from anywhere, so this might be the deal. Will keep you posted. I did use the verbal offer to spur the recruiters into action on the two jobs I had been pursuing, so we will see. But it feels like this agony could all be done by next Friday!
DD hasn't decided yet, some numbers still up in the air. Will also keep you posted.
As we all approach about our three year cancerversary, I have to say I thank God each day that you are here with me. Love to everyone.

A Happy Thanks Giving to all of you, dear sisters, with extra special hugs to ((((((((((Pat and Marsha)))))))))))))). Hoping so hard that your health is stable and leave your mind some room to enjoy life around you.
Leah, great news for daughter and mom... wishing you the best... enjoy the turkey... we are invited, too, so I am only fixing the chocolate mousse with a twist of orange and Cognac... With DH preparing his qualifying exams, Xmas is going to be quiet, too, but hope to reciprocate all the nice invitations on the 6th of Jan. with a big dinner to thanks our friends here.
I have been busy doing not much except knitting and just finished "for moi" a pretty nice little sweater which I'll wear tomorrow... It has 2 lovely little turtles as buttons and I want to believe they are a longevity grigri... I may post a picture...
Have been thinking about all of you, the MIA's included, and, like Leah, I am so grateful our paths crossed. Wishing you the best, love to all,
Catherine

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. Special wishes to Pat and Marsha. Hoping you are feeling well and enjoy the day.
Just baked pumpkin, blueberry and cherry pies....smells good. Will host the feast tomorrow for about 10 of us. Turkey and all the trimmings.
My BIL begins chemo next Wednesday. He has my same onc. The onc is upset with his urologist who missed some signs....chemo will be taxotere along with a hormonal treatment, which I understand is the same for men as women...hot flashes, joint pain, etc.
I guess this is our new normal.
Love and thanksgiving for all of you,

Hi everybody...back from a wonderful visit with friends, after a somptuous TG late lunch...
Terry, my best wishes to your BIL... too bad he has to go through chemo and the rest of it... darn... so frustrating that the urologist did not react in a timely manner... I am sure they'll appreciate your support and compassion.
Since I clowned around yesterday on Skype to show Alyson-my-sister-knitter my latest project, here are a couple of pictures...

Happy Thanksgiving to all, especially Marsha and Pat.
Hope everyone enjoyed the blessings as much as we did.
We fixed dinner for Mike's 2 daughters and their families. It was lovely.
Enjoyed the Cowboys and University of Texas Longhorns ballgames.
Catherine what a darling sweater. You are such a talented gal. Thanks for the pics.
Melanie, I am doing great. The recon went very well. I have a little "tweeking" to be done in the office. But overall am very pleased with the outcome. Sorry to hear of your bout with cellulitus. Hope you are all well now.
Leah, so happy to hear about the job prospects. Working from anywhere sounds great.
I too am thankful for all of you. It means so much to hear from everyone.
Hugs to all, Terry, Caryn, Dian,Melanie,Catherine, Leah,Alyson,Marsha, Pat, hope I didn't forget anyone. I love you all. Sammie Kay

Happy belated Thanksgiving to all fellow FCC'rs! Great to read everyones comings and goings and SO happy for your fantastic news Leah!! Catherine your sweater looks awesome, good work! Little Bea is precious Alyson!
My sister and I drove up to Austin to spend Thanksgiving with my brother and his family and it was a nice time made better when the Cowboys won. My daughter was on call for work so she had to stay home and enjoy the plate I brought her later that evening. Our home is getting a nice facelift with new windows and porch rails, new exterior paint and new carport so we're very excited.
Medically I'm feel I'm stable just a few residual aches from where the bone mets was radiated and hoping that will go away completely. My skin still looks like crap, but now that I'm on Xeloda (2nd week just completed) the ones that haven't opened up are are still lumps, seem to be getting smaller so here's hoping for the best. I still get an Avastin infusion every 2 weeks and a Zometa infusion monthly. The Xeloda is pills that I take at home, 4 pills twice a day, seven days on, seven days off then on again. So far no really bad side effects except for sore fingers that make it hard to open jars, turn keys or anything like that. The bottoms of my feet as well. I keep them really moist with the udder cream so at first I was getting a slight rash that has gone away.
But I'll take it and keep on going, thanking God for every day.
Thank you all and take care.
Pat

Hi all
Just to say that we have a date for DH's op. Will be next Tuesday - Monday your time. It is being done at one of the private hospitals but we don't pay as it is being done through the public system because the public hospital is obviously behind with its ops and so to make sure people don't stay on the waiting lists too long they send some to the private sector.
It is hot and sticky here today, and we have had thunder showers.

Alyson, wanted you to know I am thinking of you and DH. I hope his surgery goes well.
You will both be in m thoughts and prayers. I know it is a stressful time for both of you.

Thanks Sammie.
I have never seen DH so nervous as he was last night. I am about to get dressed and go in to the hospital. At least I will have the playgroup Christmas party this morning to help take my mind off things. Then I will go back and wait.

Hi all, hope you had a good day. It was beautiful yesterday, not sure about the temperature and it looks like another warm day. So it appears that summer is here at last.
That was a very long day yesterday. DH went to theatre just after 10, was back in ICU at 3.30 and finally managed to come aroung at 10 pm. I had gone home about 8.30 but went back in with DDs as he wanted to see us and he also wanted to know the cricket score!!! The op went well, valve replacement and double by-pass. The drugs have really knocked him, ICU were getting worried that he wasn't responding as he should. We will go in again at 11 this morning.
Now I can think about Christmas. The tree is up DH insisted we do it last weekend so Bea could see it!! She though it was great but we have had to put the fire guard aroung it! And my DS will be home this time next week and like you other mothers I do miss my baby boy.It is his birthday tomorrow. He has been away for 15 months so it will be great to see him even if it is only for two weeks. His father is really looking forward to seeing him. DH is worse than I am with DS and they have always got on well.DH likes having his family close by, I think a lot of his attitude is because his father died when he was a teenager.
Had a lovely Playgroup party yesterday morning, the little ones were lovely especially when we took them over to the church to get their Christmas presents.
