Congrats to all of us survivors!
The other day I went to the Dentist and she told me her two sisters, two aunts, her mother and grandmother all had B.C and are survivors!

Well I haven't posted on this link for some time but I thought I would reach out to everyone and let them know what I'm up to. I started a blog while recuperating from my DIEP surgery. Actually, I started on Day 8 because I was climbing the walls.
Anyhow, it dawned on me that there must be other breast cancer survivors who are crafters, seamstresses, artists etc that might want to show their stuff off on my blog.
I don't make any money off of this as it is not a business. I do it only for fun. Crafting was a good respite for me while recuperating. Anyhow, I'm thinking of doing a once a week feature entitled Breast Cancer Crafters that would show only BC survivors arts and crafts. I am open to people who sell their products through Etsy, Ebay or whatever so they can get some exposure and I am also interested in those women/men who just want to show off what they are up to. I do alot of my crafting for fundraising.
If you know anyone who might be interested in joining but may not be on our boards, then just give them my email and we can send them directions on how to participate. In the meantime, I'd love for anyone and everyone to join. I think it would be a wonderful place for BC Survivors to showcase the art.

A friend is a 25+ year survivor, and has been released from seeing her ONC years ago. Can you imagine that?
She is BRCA+. No recurrence. She had aggressive treatment and was on Tamoxifen for 9 years. This was apparently before they knew how long to give you Tamoxifen!

My Grandma discovered breast cancer when she was 50, had a radical mastectomy and did some radiation. She lived a spunky life until she died at 74 of a heart attack.

I began this thread going on 9 years ago.
Here's a link to a program which I was a patient story recently aired in canada on CTV for Chemtherapy & Neutropenia.

Carmelle I am new to this site and am not sure how to navigate through it yet. how do I get to the thread you spoke of. At this point I really need to hear form long term surviors....Just been dx and really scared!!!!!!!

My Mother in-law was dx 12 years ago she had a lumpectomy and rad. There was some node involment but I'm not sure how much.She is going strong and telling me that everything is going to be ok. Also I have a friend that was dx in her late 40's she to had node involment she had a umx and that was 16 yrs ago. neither has had a recurrence

My SIL was diagnosed with BC thirty years ago. She had BLM no chemo no rads. She is now 65 and healthy with no recurrence.

I am so happy to have scrolled down and found this positive thread. I have a mamm and MRI Monday, 3 1/2 years after dx, lump and rads, stage 0, grade 2, 1.2cm. I always stress prior to the tests but am even more this time because I just spent 9 months attempting reconstruction that failed. More scar tissue than before. I plan on focusing on these stories instead over the next few days rather than the recurrence stories so I don't lose my mind. Maybe this thread should be at the VERY TOP!!!!!!

I'm now three and a half years from dx (grade 3 and 3 nodes involved) and doing great. Chemo is a distant memory and I'm just enjoying life.
My M-I-L was my heroine. She died this year from heart failure at the age of 86, but had BC in her early 30's (over 50 years ago). She didn't know what grade etc (they didn't tell you or didn't know) but did have nodes involved. Her mx was a real 'butchers job' and she also had three weeks in the 'radium institute', To her it was like having the flu - you had the treatment and then forgot about it. No big deal.
She never talked about it and just got on with her life.
I'm trying to do the same.

I always read these threads with great enthusiam as I am really just beginning. Have done 6 of 8 tx and rads are next. Thanks to everyones with their positive stories. They are a lifeline to anyone drowning right now in treatment.

I found this thread yesterday and I LOVE it!
I´m doing chemo now and sometimes I´m really sad...thinking about recurrence and things like that. Reading all this stories has helped me a lot! I´m 28 now and I want to get 90 someday!

Just passed my mammogram and feel so relieved. I only wish every other woman in that waiting room could get good news. Wishing everyone in this bc journey a very happy new year and I feel so blessed to have such support from all over the world!!!!!

Moonflower...My diagnosis was similar to yours and just wanted you to know that thinking about recurrences is absolutely normal. I still do...but with each passing day, you will find that sometimes cancer will not come to mind.
I just had my mammogram last week and I am still dancing with NED!

I have my mammogram Monday 12-19.... Yes I feel a bit Anxious..... But shorbr is correct, as time goes by cancer does leave ones thoughts for that day......and so on...
Cant wait for Monday!!!!!
