NO BONE METS!!!!!!  Yaaa!!!  Apparantly I have broken the same rib(s) so many times it it distorted.  But no metast was found from neck to toes!!!  The only reason I went to the doc was cause I had "brittle bone" disease from the drugs and I was sure I had broken a rib.  The docs went crazy and ordered all these tests and scared me half to death!  So I guess I have been given a head to toe clean bill of health!.  My back still hurts, but my soul is releived.

Got my dog home today too!!  His lymphoma tests are still inconclusive, but looking good!

Gonna be able to get my horse on Thursday.

    Whew!

    Lisa dearie,

I am so thankful and relieved to hear the news!

    Cause for celebration!!!

BTW, elevated calcium levels sometimes offer some warning about bone mets. But a tooth decay or broken bones(as in your case) could also trigger it. High dosages of caltrate too.....

Wish you a wonderful week ahead and hope your darling companions will be well soon.

    Hugs,

I was thinking of you today, Lisa, while I was in the chemo chair and listening to the woes of the woman in the next room, whose cancer has spread. SO RELIEVED that that's not happening to you!

Reading about all the anniversaries this past week was so uplifting and Lisa's news topped it all. CONGRATS TO ALL!  It was such a tough week for me that it was comforting to read about all the various anniversaries.... knowing there is an end to this journey.  Last Tuesday was my last chemo tx and IT REALLY KICKED MY BUTT! I was told the 6th one was the toughest...no exaggeration there!  I fainted, vomited, had diarrhea, that left me with a horrible "diaper rash" that a can't seem to get rid of.  At one time I was sitting on the toilet and holding a bucket because it was coming out of both ends at the same time....not a pretty picture. My finger nails hurt so bad that it is painful as I type this post. I've gotten my appetite back, but I get a stomach ache every time I eat. My stomach is also very bloated.  I go in for my Herceptin TX this afternoon, so I will tell my Onc nurse about all my SE's...hmmm, I wonder what feedback she'll give me.

Welcome Chris - I usually get a "one day headache" from the Herceptin.  It hurts to watch TV and work on my Computer.  The majority of the pain is in my eyes.  My Onc always asks me if I get headaches from Txs and how long they last.... so I know it is a known SE.  Make sure you tell your Onc about the headaches.

Lisa~ I am beyond thrilled that you just broke some ribs.

Cincan~ Try corn starch.  It was the only thing that helped me.

I am just plugging along.  I am feeling better but I hate when I get an ache because I still think the worst.  I am still doing the clodronate study but I am thinking that I need to come off of it.  I have had diarrhea from it along with heart burn and wicked reflux from it.  I guess I will be needing to call onc. man before July :(

I am getting ready to head South tomorrow and I just can not wait.  We are going to Sarasota for 10 days and then hopefully our weather here will break for spring for sure.  Then at the end of next month I am headed down to NOLA for stage 2.  I am excited as I have never been this far in my reconstruction history...lol..  I am now trying to decide between what kinda nipples I want.  It sure sounds silly typed out but I can't decide.  My DH wants me to not do any just do the 3d tatoo's but I want just a little hint of a nipple.  Silly thoughts sorry...

My hair update is just that I look plain silly.  My hair is a lose curl but frizzy.  I tell my hairdresser that I have the perfect hair of her daytime customers (I know I am mean) but my gran would have been so jealous over my hair.  I tell people that I am just the keeper of the fuzz.  I tried straightening it and it just stands up in a spike do...so no good... :(  So after my whining I just have to add that I am happy to have hair :)

Chris~ Welcome and we are sorry that you have to be here.  I had headache's from herceptin...along with a host of just feeling crappy SE's but honestly once you are done with the TC part it slowly gets easier.  That or you just get used to it but you honestly feel better.  You hair will grow back while you are on herceptin it just can sometimes slow it down.

Lisa - sooooooo happy for you that the scan came back good. That is the best news. I hope everything else goes well with the dog and horse.

Chris - sorry you had to join our group. I am just done with my 5th treatment. There are so many different SE's and not everyone gets them. I just usually ask questions as they came up and someone always had the answer. This is a wonderful group of ladies.

    Hugs to you all

Cindy....   oh my gosh I'm sorry you had such a terrible 6th treatment.  That sounds like me on my third one, but I think mine was because I tried to do too much right after, I was out in the sun, and didnt go home right away and hop in bed.... which I did for every other treatment.  Mine did not seem progressively worse each time, I thought they were all pretty much the same, ( except for that # 3)...use flushable wipes and use the baby cornstarch powder, keep clean and dry.

CinCan, have you tried Desitin ointment?  It's great for diaper rash and might help.  Sorry to hear you're so miserable, but at least that was the last one and everyday from here on out should be better.   My last one was Sept 30th last year and I knew my worst days were 3-7.  Can't tell you how happy I was to hit # 8!

    Lisa,

Wonderful news. Let's see. Were any of those past broken ribs horse related?  My husband and I both have that kind so I wondered. Hopefully you have better "staying on" ability.  Just wonderful that there is no spread of cancer, though. Hopefully your horse makes a full and fast recovery.

     Cincan,

I had to laugh (in a supportive way) at your last TCH effects. I had the exact same and I TOTALLY understand what you went through in the bathroom that day.  I remember I was refinancing my house and the notary public was due any minute. Miraculously I seemed to get better and was able to sign all the papers. As soon as she left I went right back to my bathroom vigil.

Hope everyone is enjoying another beautiful spring day as they pass through their various stages and treatments.

For those done with TCH, did eyebrows and eye lashes go?

I am 8 days past # 4, and mine are still holding tight.

Also - Chemo Hot flashes - anyone get them as well? Them seem to be worse for me after # 4. I was not in menopause before Chemo started, but was told Chemo could force me into it.

stlcardsfan - Of course you and I are one treatment apart. My eyebrows are almost gone except the front part of them. Eyelashes are almost gone. I have a few here and there. I have heard from most that they do not fall out until after your last treatment but they are also the first to come back.

I do get hot flashes...chemopause. I hope I dont stay in memopause after treatment but we'll see.

I'm not sure where I was (at age 51) in terms of menopause, because I was still on the pill, which can cause some false periods, but I was certainly in the process. Quit the pill the beginning of December, had a small period, haven't had one since (started chemo Feb. 8). Had some fairly strong hot flashes mid-December until starting chemo, but they're really subsided.... I'm running a little cold from the chemo anyway. They pick up a bit during the last week of the three-week cycle, but pretty minor.

As for hair-- I'm 2 days after TCH-A #3, still have body hair and brows/lashes, although I think they are thinning just a little. My scalp is bizarre-- some baby-ish hair growth in spots, but other spots are coming out completely-- little stubble on my pillow and in the sink, and some balder spots, but this bit of growth on top! Weird.

    Hi Ladies-

I've been reading but not posting much.  Sounds like lots has been going on for everyone.  Prayers go out all as we continue on this very bizarre journey.

Yesterday, I had my final TCH treatment.  My Onco originally said that I needed 6 treatments, but later changed his mind and switched to 4.  Talked to him again yesterday, as to the reason why.  He said that since my tumor was so small, he felt that we adequatedly treated everything.  I was talking to nurse du jour yesterday (I was bummed b/c my regular nurse was on vacation), Anyway, the nurse yesterday said that she should have ordered me a cake from the cafeteria to celebrate my final chemo.  Seems so weird to be saying that, for two reasons,  yes, while I am now done with chemo, I will still be receiving herceptin every 3 weeks, after next week.  I have been having herceptin weekly since Jan 12th when I started chemo.

Even though I am done with the chemo part, I just don't feel like I can be as happy as everyone expects me to be.  Never mind the steriods are once again doing a number on my emotions.  UGH!  The crying jags are awful!!!  Until I am done with the herceptin and my next medical appts I just don't feel like celebrating. Does that sound weird?  DH and the kids bought me some yummy treats to celebrate last night, which was fun, but I just don't feel like I am done.

Next have an appt with the radiation oncologist and then an appt with a genetic counselor.  What fun?!

Enough rambling...  Do have to laugh about the eyebrows... I have somehow lost the outside half of my right eyebrow.  Whereas the left side is all the way  across but thin?  Strange!

stlcardsfan...my eyebrows went towards the end of chemo, but they seemed to grow back before the eyelashes.  My eyelashes have always been thin and small, but they partially fell out, I could literally count the few eyelashes on the lower lid on one hand.

Hot flashes during chemo, yes.. the hot flashes from chemo stopped about 3 mos after I ended chemo, and I felt normal again. And period stopped after first chemo and didnt come back until 6 months after chemo ended, only to stop again when I started Tamoxifen.

Chris14, I am sorry you have to be going through this but you will be able to get through it. One chemo at a time and if you do rad and Herceptin again it is one at a time. You can do it and will be worth it at the end. We are here to help you along so come here and ask questions and rant when you need to. someone will know what to tell you.

Lisa I am so glad you had broken ribs and not cancer but now you must get that under control. You want to still be able to do what you do. did they give you med for brittle bones? I know chemo can be hard on the bones. I am still waiting on the biopsy so I can start the trial. did you do the tests before you started the med? I want to do it and then I am afraid. I am not sure my stomach can take it. I guess I will do it and if I just can't I will stop.

ccbaby, congrats on your last tx and it will seem odd not to be going to get tx but I think you will get used to it fast. I know I did but lately we have had the every Wed appointments but hopefully it is short lived. Do you still have to go for blood work every 3 weeks for a while? I am still doing that for last year but because I have had low HG counts and I get a Procrit shot.

Good Luck every one and I hope you SE get better.

    Carolyn
